I would imagine that he was not the 'crown prince'.

Keep in mind at elrond's council Boromir's lineage is not really noted.

Merry and pippin where heirs of their respective families ,but this is not mentioned until the appendices I think. Legolas himself never once refers to himself as royalty [rohan for instance].
I will have to check re: Lorien but I would not be suprised if he does not refer to his father even to Celeborn his distant kinsman [ he prob. already knew as 'messages had come out of rivendell..."

Anyway L. seemed to keep a low profile about it himself.
I think truth be told he was somewhat awed by Aragorn, Lothlorien, Rivendell and Minas Tirith.
