Legate joining the seasonal avvie club with the FCL picture! Yes, the Finnish influence will show up more as the years go by. The picture of FC flying over Oxford was drawn in 1932 and can be seen there, as part of an whole page of illustrations. I don't think anything was omitted from the early years - apparently that's all that there was, or at least all that survived. Remember, the children were very young at the beginning, and Tolkien's stories always grow in the telling!
