Sacrifice for Tolkien?

Some of us--only some of us now, mind--sacrifice one or two newbies a week, but they are always very polite about it and ask the newbies first if it is all right with them.

I can't say I actually sacrifice social life to Tolkien. I don't have one anyway, but I'd much rather enjoy it if I did than give it up for the sake of some pretty stories. Well, they're more than that, but I guess I could put it that way anyway...
