Funniest lines in Middle-Earth

This is some good stuff. I needed a laugh, it's been raining incessantly here. [img]smilies/redface.gif[/img]

But here's my favorite quote. It's from the Fellowship:

Gently he stipped off Frodo's old jacket and gave a gasp of wonder. Then he laughed...."Look, my friends!" he called. "Here's a pretty hobbit-skin to wrap an elven princeling in! If it were to be know that hobbits had such hides, all the hunters in Middle-Earth woul'd be riding to the Shire."
"Then all the arrows of all the hunters in the world would have been spent in vain!" said Gimli, gazing at the coat in wonder.

Yeah, it's long. But I always get the mental image of Frodo cringing when Aragorn took the mithril coat off and Gimli doing a wide-eyed wonder thing. Plus, the mental images of hobbit hides hanging over a fireplace in a castle somewhere has been a source of amusement. [img]smilies/evil.gif[/img]
