When you say:

What do you mean?
That the elves cannot defeat the armies of Morgoth.
That the elves cannot defeat Morgoth himself.
That the elves cannot "kill" Morgoth.
Or something else.

I think that if Orodreth would have come to war in the Nirnaeth Arnoediad, the elves would have been able to vanquished the Armies of Morgoth.
