I thought it would sound kinda stupid, wanting to write
*gasp* BLASPHEMY!!!

Just kidding! Wanting to write your own book is far from stupid, Rose. I have several stories in the works (all scattered through about seven notebooks worth of pertinent information and old ideas); I, too, hope to someday be published. A good book you should look for is "Get That Novel Started (And Keep It Going 'Til You Finish" by Donna Levin. It's an excellent book full of tips and tricks for budding writers.

Personally, I don't like fanfic much
Can I hug you, Elven-maiden? I agree fully with what you said, (though I have found, perhaps...three exceptions to the "bad fanfic" rule). I do like a good parody, though. (I'm working on some really corny cross-over fic between "The Matrix" and LotR. I blame Hugo Weaving.)
