Sorry Lorien Wanderer, by the way that is a cool nickname...

Balrogs most certainly have wings, and I believe it is mentioned in the LOTR, if not directly but I am sure it mentions that he has some sort of wings when he "jumps onto" the bridge of Kazad Dum.
