Previously stated concerning the Noldorin greatnesss...

They were the ones who perfected swordcraft and metalwork.

I myself do not view the creation of weapons of destruction a factor in judging the greatest of a race. In fact, that should show a weakness if anything, especially in how they are used by said race. How great can this one class of elves be if they slay their own kind, in a paradise of all places?

If drama is involved in determining the greates elven race, then indeed it would be the Noldor. Vainly attempting to overthrow that which they have no chance is in a few words, ambitious yet falty. Fallen Vala and Maia against little elves means the chihuahua wants to play with the big dogs. The Noldor were too proud.

Notice how some of the greatest of all the Noldor are descended from Vanyar. Galadriel, Finrod, and Turgon. But then again, these elves are descendents of all three elvish clans.

Perhaps the greatest elf is that of which is born of all three.
