Interesting topic. Yes, the majority of World religions have seen the Sun as masculine, think Ra etc and the Moon as feminine (ie Diana). I can think of few that do not conform to this standard. Perhaps someone acquainted with Norse mythology could aid us in discovering the way the wafer crumbles in that part of the world.

Tolkien's reversal of these roles intrigued me. Definitely worthy of discussion. I'll think on the topic and come back when I have more time! In the meantime; any thoughts?
