There was a Balrog in Moria because he was babysitting all of Sauron's little orcs. Those orcs can be such brats at time! Little did the Fellowship know that the Balrog was just angry with the stupid little orcs for disappearing from the nursery when he had specifically told them to stay there so he could watch "As Arda Turns" and "General Mayhem".
