No, it didn't have anything to do with the Barrow Downs, considering it was a few months before I joined. smilies/wink.gif

The reason I pointed it out is because I typed it up specially just for the picture. My parents had just got back from a vacation and my mom was using up the roll so she could get the film developed, so she took a pic of me at the computer. But I had time to close what I was doing and type up a little ditty I thought would be funny. So you can imagine my disappointment when it didn't even show up! Dogs!

Anyway...

Water, water, everywhere, nor any drop to drink. I could not find a drop to drink, not even in the kitchen sink, and so I think I'll take a drink from a drop of India Ink.

There! I told you you'd never guess and it'd be anticlimatic. But I have a thing for bad poetry. Yeah....

The reason some names re-appear is not that we've made mistakes in copying them, but is caused by either several people wanting the same name and therefore you will sometimes find the same name, though with small differences.
Or, a person has signed up, but finds that the name was spelled wrong or something like that and then makes a new account with the name spelled right. Which is probably what happened in the example given. I
f you look close, you'll see that one of the names is Maltaoreien but the other is Maltaoreion.
Where one has an "e" at the end, the other has an "o".

From what I understand, it should be impossible for two people to sign up with the exactly same name.

As I was copying the list into the web page from my word master file the first 1087 was pasted in with a black font on a black background, once I saw the error I changed to colour to green in my word Doc. I then went back and changed the black font on the web page to a green font but failed to note that the green was a diff shade.

Or it could have just been because we are so special.

When you send in your picture all I do is copy and paste it into my cute web page builder program, one of the best web creation programmes I have seen. Once I realised what the actual member count of the Downs was I realised that it would be next to impossible to make a manageable family tree that would be readable and not take up 100+ MB of storage. The solution was to make a text memorial to all the members instead thereby still giving an up-to-date member listing which was less than 10MB.

I have made some changes to the Photo page mainly from a need to improve my site, which is going through a major overhaul.

I have now changed Lindolirian’s picture… your new pic crashed my computer 3 times as it was 3500x3000x16mil which took 10min to convert back from 56mb size to 150 b once I got the computer to work. smilies/rolleyes.gif

Can members when sending pictures make sure the format is not so large, makes it easier to download for my poor old computer. smilies/wink.gif

Anyway I hope you all like the new format.

I've been a member for about as long (actually longer) as you, Gorwingel, but look at that- you have 600 more posts than I do! How do you do it?? My parents yell at me for being on the site a lot, even though I personally don't think I'm on so often. Thankfully, I go to college in August, so they won't be yelling at me for that. Oh, and I hope I get my own computer too. They yell at me for putting so many LOTR movie pictures on theirs.

I just happened to get very addicted to the site, and me and my sister are really the only people in my family that use the computer, so I get a lot of time on it. Though recently I have not been able to post as much as I would like, because I have suddenly become very busy (I am doing track and a couple other activities). I sent my photo in I think only a couple of weeks after I joined though.
Additionally I have a few computer classes at school, so I go on the site during lunch, and when I have nothing to do in my advanced business class. Plus my parents never bother me about going on the internet.

Are you using a digital camera? Or are you trying to use a printed photo. If you are trying to send a printed photo you need to scan it. If you are going to send a photo from a digital camera you need to read the instructions, because all cameras work differently. With my camera I plugged it into the computer and all the photos went into a program (a photo displaying software that came with the camera), and then I just right clicked the photo that I wanted and clicked on "Mail Sending", then the blank message came up with the photo already attached. I have a fuji digital camera if you want to know.
