Lyra: Hobbits suck!!
GaladrieloftheOlden: Bye everyone I have no time to sit and have stupid Tolkien discussion with people like you. Oh by the way Tolkien is all made up it does not exist soo naaa (A huge tornado comes and sucks up every Tolkien book, every Tolkien thing, sucks up EVERYTHING that has to do with Tolkien including Barrow-Downs and the Barrow-Wight!! I really do hope you wouldn't say that Helka. That's terrible.

Yes it is a bad translation. I did not know which word it is meant to be. That is why I hate those internet translators.

You have, quite by chance, discovered my secret obsession:
From the mortal woman to her beloved Legolas ~~
Ode on Everlasting Love
O no, beloved, I am most sure
Those virtuous habits we acquire,
As being with the Fëa entire,
Must with it evermore endure.
For if where Dark and Shadow reside
We find so foul a guilt remain,
As never dying in his stain,
Still punished in the Fëa doth bide;
Much more that true and real joy
Which in loving Legolas is found
Must be more solid in its ground
Than Doom or Death can e’er destroy.
Else should our Fëar in vain elect,
And vainer yet the Valar’s laws,
When to an everlasting Cause
They gave a perishing Effect.
Nor here in Arda, then, nor above,
Our good affection can impair;
For where Eru doth admit the fair,
Think you that he excludeth Love?
*with apologies to: Lord Herbert of Cherbury; from An Ode upon a Question Moved – Whether Love Should Continue for Ever?

Since I have not found myself in this thread. I have dedcided to list possible reasons why I haven't, and after that a possible way to fix it.
1. I have not established my personality.
(Well maybe I should take time at the end of each post to put a tid-bit about myself.)
2. I am too new.
(Well then how new is too new?)
3.I am not popular enough.
(Perhaps smilies/frown.gif.)
4. I have not looked hard enough, and have been mentioned somewhere in here.
(Again perhaps.)
5. I am not enough like Helka, he seems to be very popular in this thread.

Sophia, I do believe you are getting to know me pretty well. For everyone else not getting it, there is nothing wrong with talking about ME, but I'm studying to be a psychologist. Listening to people's "crap" is exactly what I want to be doing.
Sophia-Hobbits are such fascinating creatures, in fact, I am currently applying Rogaine to my feet, so I can not only read about them, but I can be one in real life. Hobbits...quite fantastic creatures.

Not fancying the hobbits? You should PM Maika. I think you two will get along fine.
Goto: What sleeping? Yeah do that all the time. It is a shame that my downs time has to suffer by my sleep scedule.
Trippo the hippo: Don't feel sad for not being mentioned. Mithadan is not mentioned much and he is a great guy too right? And you are never to new to do anything. I am only mentioned because the people here all know me. There are a lot of downers that don't. Just a coinsedence that they are all here. smilies/smile.gif Don't feel sad. Niluial, don't worry your pretty head, I figured it was a compliment, but I was just wondering what the exact compliment was. Niluial, don't worry your pretty head, I figured it was a compliment, but I was just wondering what the exact compliment was. I interpreted it to mean "the phantom never jumps in off topic and always has something of substance to say", but maybe you meant something different (basically, I was disappointed that my ego wasn't being stroked in a more specific way ).
I'll keep that in mind for next time smilies/wink.gif...

I think that this thread is hilarious and overtly funny!
Barrow-Wight (or any of the other Ops/Mods for that matter): Everyone! Cuss, swear drink and gamble as much as you like! This site is now a free-for-all! Have fun!
Or, Bethberry: I hate everyone! Everyone, hear me!?! I will PERMAMENTALY ban anyone who speaks to me after this! Hear Me!?!?
Or, Rimbaud: I have decided to become normal, stop using witty phrases, and discontinue debating any idea I once liked.
I don't know if any of these are funny, as I don't know anyone too well.

davem would never post:
The really good idea would be to extend Rev Silm and start up "Revised Tolkien" project. I mean, we should dig up all pieces Tolkien ever wrote, including his market lists and bakery bills, and create one coherent piece of text out of it. The plot will develop first in South Africa, and will include such Aelfwine traveling from Capetown with Rover to the Moon, with Master Cook on the steer, and it will give what I'd like to call "true Tolkien" idea to masses. We will be having two aims in mind - first, to bring as much of Tolkien's writing into one piece of a text as possible, and, secondly, we should make it as life-like, real, according to the laws of our primary world as it ever may be achieved. So the mechanical monsters of Morgoth should be interpreted as rockets (othewise, how would Rover get to the Moonm and so forth.
Once the work is done, all other books now in circulation should be banned, and our Revised Tolkien piece should be proclaimed the one and only canon!

Since I don't know anyone on this site well ENOUGH to speculate on what they would not post, I'll just go through with a semi-general overview.
Anyone: TEH HARY POTER PWNS J00 !!!!!!1!!!!1!!!!shiftone!!!!1!!!!!
Any mod: Perhaps it is time to a brief hiatus from Tolkein.
Any mod: Wait a sec, what's this Silmarilla thingy everyone's talking about?
Well, that was indeed pathetic, but I managed to scratch out something from my tired mess of a brain.
Hmm, I should start using the word "pwns" in conversation. That word pwns. Does anyone, pray tell, even know what that means. I'm ashamed to say I do (background in another, less respectable site, thankfully non-Tolkein affiliated).
Next: My ill-aimed grammar lesson on the word 'pwns' and all its vocabularic kin, AND furthermore, why Tolkein should be painstakingly translated into netxpeak.
Oh, there's something I don't think anyone would say, regardless of Tolkein obsession...Of course, I have met people who would wish such a thing...By the lidless eye, I really keep lousy company these days. Never liked that 'language' though. Too hasty, hooom!

Anyone who frequents ME Mirth: What's this Disco King business??

Lhunardawen: Yes, Stitch... he fascinates me as essentially a product of genetic engineering (like an orc) who ended up with free will somehow (like Aule's dwarves) and who then was led into love, belonging, adoption, and the awakening of conscience (like redeemption) through the love of those who believed in, and desired, the best for him (agape.) .....so... Yes, I'm very fond of Stitch.
Back on topic:
Nurumaiel: Family? Loyalty? Caring? Gentleness? What's that all about?
Orual: Deep thought? Nah, I go for hack-and-whack.
littleManPoet: Aragorn opined, "We're obligated to approach employing the most roundabout and indirect route toward our predetermined rendezvous destination. Insomuch as we follow this methodology it's completely assured beyond a reasonable doubt that we'll naturally arrive with the maximized melodramatic and climactic impact. Go, us!" To which the witty, eloquent, and totally elegant Legolas retorted ever so dryly and suavely, "Oui, Missieur."

The Chief Wight - I'm opening a new public forum entirely devoted to Pokémon.
Sharkû - A, la belle Français. C'est une langue magnifique!
Mister Underhill - Serious discussion alone is valid. Your laughter insults us all.
Thenamir - Workers of the world unite! You have nothing to lose but your chains!
Heren Istarion - I skip the poems. Poetry is dull.
Legolas - Who cares what it says in the books? Opinion is paramount
The Saucepan Man - Cryptic crosswords are silly. I don't understand what the point is in them.
Lush - Every square millimetre of exposed flesh is a crime, and Russian literature is dull, dull, dull
Bêthberry - There's no value in applying critical theory to Tolkien's works: alone in world literature, they transcend analysis.
Child of the Seventh Age - The eighties were the best time to be a Tolkien fan. It's all been downhill since then
Estelyn - Roleplaying is a serious business. Parodying it is counter-productive.
Kuruharan - My least favourite character of all is Chrysophylax Dives: a poor effort
Rimbaud - Symbolism was the most sterile and uninteresting movement in the history of poetry.
lindil - The 1977 Silmarillion is an entirely flawless synthesis of Tolkien's pre-Third-Age writings. I can't think of a single improvement that could be made apart from making it into an all-action blockbuster movie.
Diamond 18 - Self-test quizzes? What are those?
Well, that's all we have time for here at the Amon Rûdh Parody Scriptorium. You may now poke fun amongst yourselves.

Squatter of Amon Rûdh - The Homecoming of Beorhtnoth is barely worthy of mention, let alone lengthy analysis.

Audreidi: Eh, I agree. The books are useless. I especially love how they screwed up when Shelob was supposed to appear. Besides, we don't really need books anymore. We can just sit in front of a beautiful box and let our brains rot.
Jandalf: Yeah...I don't really want to be orange anymore. And I already disowned my Padawan, and divorced Obi-Wan. You know, I think I'm just going to quit being a Lord of the Rings and Star Wars fan and have a real life. Who's up for some gardening? Let's watch reality TV; it's so enlightening and serious.
Eowyn Skywalker: Oh, good. I hated chatting with Jandalf on MSN anyway. And I don't really want to marry Anakin. Conspiracies are so boring. I think I'm going to apply for a spot on Survivor and sell everything that remotely resembles a computer in my house.

obloquy : "Actually, forget that last remark. I'm not too interested in Legolas's hair colour at all. Who in their right mind would contemplate that aspect of Legolas when we could be discussing how essential he was to the plot. Let's face it, he carried the story during the first two books. Tolkien was basically giving him a break in RotK, however he still found time to give him several witty and distinctive lines. A true character for the ages."

Hum, perhaps I should make it clear that when I posted this;
Any American: War? Hate it...
I was making very little reference to any recent wars, more expanding on the stereotyped American that has become popularly known here in Blighty, that is a warmonger. Indeed, it was mostly in retaliation against this;
Any cheeky Brit: Tea? Nasty stuff
But you just try being English! You Americans may think your misinterpreted and viewed as evil in other countries. You should try being English; there are people who hate us living up the road! We can drive to hatred!
Scotland: You English… (Insert many curses and swear words here)
Wales: English morons!
Don’t even think about going to Ireland!
Hope that's clear.
No hard feelings? :(

Only because we beat them in almost every war ever! ;)
Anyway, here are some more;
Any one: Did Balrogs have wings? No, they were magical and flew around on unicorns... that had wings... Its true!
Any one: Who is Tom Bombadill? He's tree beard in disguise!

Just by letting this mug out of the bag, I could end up face down in a ditch somewhere, dead. That's right, dead. You can never be too careful. I don't even want people speculating on what I look like. And you there, stop forming a mental image of me right now. This face is not for viewing!!!"

Oh, this will be easy. This is sort of a secret between me and those who dis-favour my work and effort put here, but. Oh well! :D
1. (this is something your might want to copy down) Never give your name to me when you leave rude and uncalled-for comments in my user cp. I tend to send you a request-an-apology message in your in-box. yes, i know you might be thinking "eek! that's- that's stalking!". Quiet differently reader! I am reminding a select few on manners and proper civilized ways to address me. I don't inquire to be mean... I didn't tell who those people are! That would be rude, and utterly worthless.
ok, another more wide-ranged never-would-be-caught-doing...
2. Disagreeing that Boromir is the Disco King, when his posse (i'm not the only one) spends a moment or two in a boromir-related tread to observe this commonly forgotten fact... The casualities will be utterly horrorific.

Firefoot: My New Year's resolution is to stay away from the Quiz Room for at least a week!

The opening song; (sung by all downers)
We're Wights of the Round Table.
We dance whenever able.
We do routines and chorus scenes
With rotting corpses and lots of beans
We dine well here in Cardolan.
With Firefoot and the saucepan-man.
[dancing by Firefoot and saucepan-man ]
We're Wights of the Round Table.
Our shows are formidable,
But many times we're given rhymes
That are quite unsingable.
We're opera mad in Cardolan
We sing from the diaphragm when we can.
[tap-dancing by The Barrow Wight]
In war we're tough and able,
Quite indefatigable.
Between our quests
we sequin vests
and impersonate Clark Gable.
It's a busy life on the Downs.
We live under the mounds
