The Psychotic Elf

[The Fifth]

Calad crouched before the window, perched like a crow and staring down at Thengise. He lowered his head, allowing his eyes to fall into shadow. "You hurt ears, head, don't, you..." he mumbled, then he rose up to a standing position and shouted, "Demons! Uruks! Spiders!" He said things that were unintelligible, and then turned around to look outside.

[Thengise Greenleaf of Mirkwood]

Thengise looked at Calad.

"I'm sorry! I am no demon. I'm just a frustrated elf. I meant to do you no harm, I just worried for you which is why I got so frustrated. I would never hurt you intentionally. I promise. please just step down and it will all be ok,"Thengise said slowly coming forward trying hard not to startle him.

whats up * limps around to thengise's side, but keeps a safe distance from the other weapons, she had on her that Kalia had yet to destruct *

"Do not make any sudden moves,"Thengise whispered to Collette.

Calad continued to stare, and then literally spat down at them. "No!" is all he said as he paced around. He then turned around again, then lept out of what was left of the window.

He landed, just barely, on his feet, but also onto his hands. He slowly stood up in the grass.

[Thengise Greenleaf of Mirkwood]

"Wait!"Thengise yelled and jumped out of the window after him. She fell to the ground lightly on her feet. Calad stood still looking at her.

"Oh please do not leave. We are going to get you cured so that you no longer think about the nasty things those orcs did to you,"Thengise said softly looking for the light that just barely glowed in his eyes.

[The Fifth]

"What if.. it doesn't work?" He said bitterly, with a quivering quality in his voice. "What will you do then?" He stared at her with his hazel eyes in an owlish way. He knelt down.

[Thengise Greenleaf of Mirkwood]

"Well it wouldn't hurt to try,"she said softly wondering the same.

[The Fifth]

Calad looked up at Thengise. He muttered, "That.. is easy for you to say, you! You! You don't know!" Suddenly he flung himself towards her, growling loudly. Although he called others demons, it was actually he who was the demon. Deep inside he wanted to be like all the other elves, but did not say a word about it, for a reason he didn't know.

Thengise backed up until she hit the wall. She had her bow but didn't want to hurt him so she stood still with her eyes closed as he got nearer and growled at her. "I'm sorry,"she said softly through shut eyes wondering how close he was and if he was going to attack her

Calad clenched onto both of her shoulders, and pushed her closer against the wall. He was so close to Thengise that she could smell and feel each breath; he stared at her straight in the eye. However, nothing else happened. Time seemed to crawl by a lot slower.

Thengise felt his hands on her shoulders. She opened her eyes and saw his face right in front of her on own. Time rolled by as they stared at eachother. She looked hard into his hazel eyes and suddenly she kissed him on the lips. She quickly pulled her head back not knowing what had come over her.

Calad was completely surprised by this, and fell back, gasping for air as if choking. He then reclined on the grass, and wiped his lips off. What was that? he thought.

Calad stood up again, feeling a bit sane. He approached her, then picked her up and heaved her over the broken window. He leant against the wall, still wondering.

THENGISE: It felt right...* lays on the floor as tears slide down her cheek*

Calad lept up onto the windowsill and sat down, watching silently at the two.

THENGISE: ( to calad ) do you hate me? please dont hate me! * eyes fill with tears at fear of being rejected, a most aceptable faear among elves, being it that a broken heart could take her life forever

The elf looked specifically at Thengise now. He growled, "I - hate you!" Calad said in a forceful way, but somehow it seemed that he did not mean it. It sounded a bit hollow. He lept off the windowsill and landed next to her. His eyes grew a bit soft, even gentle as he showed his true personality for a moment, but they then hardened again.

THENGISE : * thenigse's confidence and spirit breaks and more tears roll down her face as Calad says the one thing she feared he would say * i am not suprised Calad. not at all. i didnt expect you to see me. I dont know what has come over me, but i see you. i can see what you were like before and i love who you are, and who you were. i see it in your eyes. * rests her head on her nees and cries *

Calad heard those words and saw her weeping. He crawled over, closer to her. He hesitated at first, but put his hand under her chin and lifted her head up. He then, very quickly, kissed her, then backed away.

THENGISE: * Stops crying abruptly and realizes what he did, are rare thing he would normally had never done, and she was actually expecting to be hit* you are a good person Calad,and you deserve more than youve been given * gives him a light hug, forboding her actions *

Calad allowed her to do this, as he was temporarily sane from what had happened. He clung onto her like a baby possum clung onto its mother.

THENGISE: *still clinging to him, and whispering into his ear* dont hurt me, i would never EVER hurt you. so please dont hurt me. ive had too many hurts in life already.

Calad nodded slowly, then shifted position. A tear had begun to worm down his lean face. He had not felt this way since he was a mere elven child, living in Mirkwood.

THENGISE: * thengise wipes the tear from his face and contemplates his comfort and gives him another kiss, a reassuring one to comfort whatever thought he may be having, feeling that he was truly sane, for those few minutes*

Sorell nodded, then shook his head. He was confused. If it wasn't Calad, who was it? He knew it wasn't him. Collette might have taken it, but she wasn't spiteful enough. Kalia definitley wouldn't. Sorell knew that from years of experience. Thengise...well, she did do spiteful things at times, but she surely wouldn't have done it.
Which only left Nayru herself. Sorell realised that Nayru had not had much attention these last few days. Everyone had focused on Calad. Sorell had rather been out of the picture, but he didn't mind as much as Nayru. Would she...would she have taken it and pretended it was stolen? No, surely not...she would never...or would she. Sorell couldn't think straight. He decided to go for a walk, so picked up his cloak and went out. A moment later he had opened his wings and was gliding through the air at his top speed.

Nayru jumped out the window and glided into the air. She saw Sorell of in the distance.

"Wait! I need to talk to you!"

"What?" Sorell asked slowly.

"Well, When I first started saying my bracelet was gone, it was. I found out the maid had put it ontop my dresser. I found it and continued to say it was lost. I'm sorry."
She grabbed him in a tight hug. "Please Forgive me." She started to cry. He grabbed her hand and hugged her back.

Their rejoicement was broken by a loud yell: "Faeries! Minions of Sauron!" And an arrow flew up at them.

"Nayru! Move! Sorell pushed her behind him and an arrow flew into his side. She tried to keep him from falling to the ground and breaking every bone, but failed. Another arrow flew into her leg and she let go of Sorell.

They fell to the ground in a heap of pain. With Nayru's last concius{sp?} moment, she yelled: "Collete! Thingise! Kalia! Calad! HELP!"

Collette had been busy, intently eavesdropping on Calad and Thengise, with her ear planted to the door, when a cry from outside came, and quicker than lightning, bolting out the door to Nayru's aid, causing Collette to fall on her face and hobble after them.

Kalia dropped the tray of food she was holding as she heard Nayru screaming for help. She ran to the window and saw that they'd fallen, with two guards pointing more arrows at them. She leapt out the window and flew down.
"STOP! STOP YOU IDIOTS! CAN'T YOU SEE THAT THESE PEOPLE MEAN NO HARM?! PUT YOUR WEAPONS AWAY AND STAND DOWN!" she yelled as she sped through the air.
The two guards looked up and saw her speeding towards them. They got more arrows ready and tried hitting her, but sorely missed. She kicked them in the heads as she neared them and landed next to her friends.
"Are you all right? Speak to me!" she yelled, worry filling her voice.
She didn't wait for an answer, but picked them both up and tried carrying them back up to the window. She made it and deposited them both on beds, falling from exhaustion. She sat on a chair for a moment and stodd immediately after, wobbling over to the others. She ran from bed to bed, trying to check on them both on the same time.
"Doctor! DOCTOR!" she yelled, leaving Sorell's side and rushing to Nayru.
Finally, her weary body couldn't take it and collapsed. She shook with sorrow for them as someone rushed in.

Calad heard the noise, and jerked himself away from Thengise. He was curious to know what was happening, and he reached the door. The elf opened it, pushing Collette away, and quickly walked towards where the commotion emanated from. He stood at the doorway, observing and making no move to help.

Kalia looked up as she heard the door open and saw Calad. Tears ran from her eyes as she looked at him, hoping he'd have enough sense to get the doctor. But, he just stood. She stood and walked over to him.
"Hello Calad. Please, watch them, I'm going to get the doctor. I believe I can trust you, so please stay here," she asked, sniffing. She dried her eyes and rubbed his head as she walked past to find the doctor.

[The Fifth]

Calad's eyes followed her as she left, but then turned back to the faeries. He stepped over to them, and then stood still again. Minions of Sauron? he asked in his head. He had overheard the shout of the guard before he had heard the twanging of a bowstring. Nonsense! The elf sat down, cross-legged, continuing to look at them.

Kalia wandered around, trying to find the doctor that had removed the arrow from Colette's leg. To her relief, he was down the hall, not doing anything. She timidly stepped into the room.
"Um, excuse me, I need your help. Two more of my friends were injured, and we need your help," she pleaded, pointing to the room with her friends.
He nodded and grabbed his medical kit. They ran back down the hall and walked into the room. Kalia smiled when she saw Calad sitting, watching her friends. She came over and sat next to him.
"Thank you. See? I knew I could trust you. Thank you very much," she said, hugging him as the doctor examined Sorell and Nayru.

Collette, who had hobbled all the way down the stairs on her leg, took her many mminutes , to find kalia, hauling the two fairies already in the room. She sigh with irritation and proceeded to hobble all the way back up to the top of the staircase.

Calad tore Kalia off of him, and stood up once more. He turned his gaze towards the doctor for a moment.

((I must go now. Bye!))

Calad mumbled words that couldn't be heard, and jumped up onto another windowsill, sitting again and observing like an oversized cat.

Thengise was sitting on the floor as Calad ran out to see what was going on. After thinking a bit she stood up and joined the others. She walked into the room to find the two fairies had been injured

"What happened?,"she said in shock forgeting all other thoughts

"Sorell and Nayru were shot by two guards. I hope they'll be all right," she said, motioning to the two fairies.

Collette finally finished limpimg up the staircase and rushed as fast as she could into the faires room. She eyed Calad and Thengise every now and then, sending dark " knowing" looks to her

Calad turned towards Collette, stumbling down the hall into the room. He looked towards Thengise, and slipped off the windowsill, on purpose, landing on his stomach and scrambling up. He inched away from the faeries and the human doctor, a bit nearer to Thengise.

Collette limps her way into a chair in the corner and watches calad.H eliked her. which was very good. Collette was hoping he would bond with her, knowing thenigse had hoped the same thing.

Thengise looked at Calad and smiled. She had many mixed feelings but most of all she was happy. She grabbed his hand and looked over at Collette whom she had noticed eyeing them. Collette realized Thengise was watching her.

Calad whimpered a bit at this sudden move, but narrowly allowed her to do this, as she was the one he trusted most.

Thengise looked at the fairies hoping they will be ok. "How bad are there injuries?"Thengise asked aloud hoping someone would answer.

Kalia looked Thengise solemnly in the eye.
"Sorell was shot in his side and Nayru in her leg," she said, looking back down.

When Sorell woke, he felt an excruticating pain in his side. He felt the arrow that had pierced his side, which had still not been taken out. No-one knew that he was concious, and as he lay with his silver eyes closed, the docter yanked out the arrow with no degree of care. Sorell cried out, and Kalia rushed to his side. His eyes were tightly closed, and he was biting his bottom lip to keep in the pain. He just had time to notice Nayru beside him before he passed out again.

* Collette winces as if she were the one getting it pulled out * i know EXACTLY how you feel! * shudders and moves a step away from thengise*

Nayru wakes up with a terrible pain in her leg. "Ah." She says with her eyes still closed.

She opened her eyes for a moment, looked around, and passed out again.

* Collette walks over to a chair in the corner of the room and sits down, trying not to watch the blood or wounds on her faery friends, as it made her very woozy and sad for them . she tried to see calads expression *

Calad looked coldly at the faeries, and then looked towards Collette, and saw that she was looking back at him. He turned away, and stood up, freeing himself from Thengise's grip and walked out of the room.

He trotted down the hallway, going further away from his companions.

Collette ignored him and leaned back in her chair and looked at thengise again

" of all the elves thengise...why?"

[The Fifth]

Calad soon stepped into the room that Thengise and he were in before the faerie incident. He looked up. The window was still broken, and he lept up to the sill, crawling outside and landing on the grassy ground.

Two guards were patrolling by, their helms shining in the light. One of them stopped. "Ai, m'lord, I see the elf out of his room."
The other stopped next to his comrade, and merely nodded. He then said to Calad, "Stay in your quarters, until you leave. It is far too risky for you to be out here-" He looked at the broken window. "Ai! Someone should fix that, yes?" They approached Calad, who did not plan on going back inside.

He murmured, "Stay away, orcs!" One of the guards, who looked younger than the other, held onto the hilt of his blade, sheathed and barely seen underneath the light armor and robes. The other guard walked cautiously towards Calad, who began to grow angry.

"We do not want to resort to hurting you, fair elf," said the older guard, "but it seems that it is you who wants to hurt us. Do not try to escape, for it is master Faramir's orders." Calad then ran towards the speaking guard, and tackled him. The younger guard brandished his sword.
"Don't you dare!" Said he, and walked towards Calad and his struggling partner.
The older guard said, "Adoir, no."
The guard known now as Adoir halted. Calad clenched onto the guard's neck, then pulled hard on it, a loud cry coming from the guard, and then the sound of a bone breaking. The guard had died by Calad's strangling hands.

Adoir blinked in surprise. His longtime partner and friend had been slain. He raised his sword in warning, holding back a few tears as he glanced at the body, with a small pool of blood gathering underneath and staining the grass.

Collette leaned over the sill in the Faerie's room after hearing a cry from the guards " CALAD! NO!" Thengise and collette screamed at the same time, collette scrambled out of her chair and tried to run affter thengise, her leg woulnt allow it, so hse hobbled as fast has she could

(( Ah, okay. ))

Calad advanced towards Adoir, before hearing Thengise's and Collette's shouts, but he was too angry to care about that. Adoir looked sternly at him, but remembered Faramir's orders. Don't kill him.., thought Adoir, ..although he killed Theros, and will try to kill me.

The elf tried to tackle the man, and slightly afraid for his life now, Adoir swung the blade, tearing off some of the fabric of his ragged moss-colored jerkin, and causing a small cut near his collarbone. Calad winced, but saw that there was not that much damage, and drew his right arm back, clenched into a fist. He growled, attempted to punch him, but missed only by a few inches. Adoir looked briefly at the elf, who began to charge for another attack. Adoir quickly grabbed Calad by the waist, not letting go no matter how much he squirmed and shouted and bit at his gloved hands.

Collette and thengise rushed to him. thnegise tried to calm him down and strke his face, but it seemed he was in his own element at the moment

Calad squirmed more, shouting and kicking. "Let go! Let go, demon! I hate you!" But Adoir did not let go as he looked in both pity and anger at the mad elf.

Kalia stroked Sorell's head as he yelled. She glared sternly at the doctor.
"Um, hello, that HURTS! Can't you remove things UNpainfully?" she asked as Thengise and Collette rushed to the window and yelled.
She glared at the doctor again and ran to see what was happening. A guard was dead on the floor, and Calad was now being carried by another.
"Calad! What happened? Bring him up here," she ordered the guard, looking sadly at Calad. "I thought I could trust Calad," she said to herself. "Serves me right. I should've kept better watch on him," she said, reproaching herself.

[Thengise Greenleaf of Mirkwood]

Thengise looked out at the dead guard in disbelief.What had caused Calad to kill the guard? And why was he trying to run away?she wondered.

[The Fifth]

Calad scratched his wound, opening it even more and causing blood to gush out onto the floor. He sat down on the blood, allowing the rest of the liquid to drip down his chest. He looked up at the others, with anger still burning on his face.

[Thengise Greenleaf of Mirkwood]

Thengise looked down at Calad with sadness in her eyes.

"We need to take him to the hospital wing with Sorell and Nayru,"she said finally looking to the others.

"What happened? Why did you attempt to leave? I told you we won't harm you. We just want to help you,"Thengise said softly to Calad.

Collette limped pathetically behind them as they led him up to the hospital room, cursing her leg and leaving to an empty room, well not as empty as she thought it was

Calad wriggled away from the people who held him. "No!" He shouted, and roared madly, bumping into a few walls but then exiting the room, shouting some Mordain curse words, kicking the walls, and thrashing around wildly, shouting "No!" as a couple more guards tried to calm him down.

Kalia stood and ran after Calad. She stopped and told the guards to let him go. She walked to him and looked at him.
"Calad, stay still for a moment," she said, placing two fingers on his forehead. She murmured a few words and waited for him to fall asleep.

Calad thrashed around more, but eventually fell limp to the floor and snored softly in sleep.

Kalia looked at the others.
"Come on, bring him to his room. We'll bar the windows so he can't escape again."
She looked sadly at Calad. "I'm sorry, friend, but it's necessary." She walked off as the guards lifted him and brought him into a room.

Sorell felt Kalia's hand on his forehead. He relaxed, though the pain was still there, even more so. He felt the blood rushing out, until the doctor pinched the two sides of the wound and held them together while he sewed them up. Sorell was in agony, but realised that Kalia was gone.
No...come back Kalia, he thought. Her hand was cool and..well...it kind of felt nice..
Sorell shook himself internally. Don't think that sort of thing, he told himself. You mustn't fall for anyone in this group, and especially not Kalia. No, he mustn't.
Sorell lay back and closed his eyes, not wanting to but desperatly wishing that Kalia would come back.

Kalia walked back into the room with her two fairy >yes, I say fairy, but in my world, fairy doesn't mean little sprites. In my world, fairy means as tall as elves with wonderful features< friends and sat, watching them. I must tell Faramir to punish those guards for attacking guests, she thought as she watched the doctor sew up Sorell's wound. She walked over and sat between the two, holding Nayru's hand and stroking Sorell's head again.

Collette went back to her room, and made her bed since there was nothing else she could really do. Once again she felt small and un able to help. she felt so horribly sad for nayru and sorell, wishing it never happened, wishing they were already in rivendell

Thengise stood in the hospital wing next to Calad who was being healed. She stroked his hair with much sadness then left the room to find her hobbit friend. She found Collette in her own room and saw the troubled look on her face.

"What are you thinking about?"Thengise asked Collette.

[The Fifth]

Calad soon awoke to find a healer robed in white standing next to his bed. His wound had been bandaged. "Where am I!" shouted he.
"You are still in Ithilien." answered the healer softly, and she strode away.

The elf stared up at the ceiling, shivering for a moment and wrapping the blankets around himself tighter, but still he quivered. Everything he had done was coming back into his mind. Thengise. The dead guard, Thenas. Trying to kill Adoir. He rolled onto his side, facing the doorway.

Collette did not answer so Thengise went back to the hospital wing. She saw that Calad was now awake.

"How do you feel,"she asked Calad softly.

[Halbereth Diagona]

Sorell smiled slightly, still half asleep as he felt Kalia's cool hand stroking his head. Once the wound was sewn up, he sat up, with a twanging pain in his side. He caught a glimpse of his reflection in the glass clock on the opposite wall. The star on his forehead burned brightly as it did when he was ill, and his usually tanned face was pale and drawn. But his chin was ever proud, and his lips were still their usual rosy red, his eyes deep blue. There was some reassurance in that. He turned to Kalia.
"Kalia, I don't want to keep you. I think we should move on. Get to Rivendell as fast as possible."

"Are you sure? I mean, I want to get to Rivendell too, but shouldn't you guys take a couple days off? You've been hurt, and I don't want anything else to happen to my friends," Kalia said, slowly forcing him to lie back down.

Sorell sat up, so violently he nearly tore his stitches. A small trickle of blood ran out from the bandages.
"I'll be fine" he said, gasping from the pain. He attempted to stand but the room spun, and he was forced to lie back down.

"See what I mean? I'm the leader of this journey, I was appointed the task, so I say we stay until you two are healed," Kalia said, looking at the blood. She went to his side and placed a cloth over it.

Sorell rubbed his nose, a habit of his when he was thinking. He didn't want to be a drag. He was going to hold the party back, stop them from getting to Rivendell quickly.
"Then, will you go on without me? And I'll follow.." he didn't get a chance to finish.
"Certainly not!" Kalia snorted. "The very idea!"

"Sorell, now you are speaking true craziness. My friends are way more important to me than some silly journey, even if it to help someone. When you two are fit to ride again, THEN we'll leave," Kalia said, patting his head.

Sorell screwed up his face. He wasn't really sure, but Kalia was the leader. He lay back, allowing her cool hand to pass over his forehead again. Then he fell into a restless sleep that brought no refressment.
When he woke, there was a pain throbbing through his head. Kalia was gone, but Nayru lay still beside him. Sorell turned with much pain and whispered,
"Nayru. Nayru, are you awake?"

Collette winced. they faeries were in pain. She looked back on the begining of the quest. everyone exept for thengise had been hurt somehow now. she hoped it stayed that way. they had enough injuries as it was. she looked at sorell " are you okay??" she shudders after seeing a trickle of blood.

"Nayru, Nayru, Are you awake?" She heard Sorell wisper in her ear. Her lag ached in pain.

"Sorell? Is that you? She opened her bright green eyes and Sorell came into focus.

She slowly sat up and hugged Sorell. "Ya know, you didn't have to save me. I could have helped my self. I'm not that little girl you used to hang out with. I've grown up." She strangly looked at him.

"You're right Nayru. You're not little anymore. Your better now. And, thanks for saving me."

Nayru chuckled a bit and pulled the blankets off of her legs. "It's probably broken, isn't it Sorell?" He nodded his head. "And what did you mean, 'I've gotten better'?" She asked.

"You've matured. You're still funny, but calmer, and not so childlike. More of an adult."

Nayru stood up, and sat next to Sorell. She kissed his cheek and then quickly, and painfully went to her bed and pulled the blankets over her head.

Collette smiled and fought down a chuckle at Nayru and left the room, seeing as how she wouldnt be involved with this....but hung around outside the door, just to see what they might say......

Calad twisted his head around to look up at Thengise. "Bad, bad," he mumbled, nuzzling closer to the pillow. He wondered what Rivendell was like. He figured that it was an evil place that those orcs were speaking of, but they spoke of it in a kind tone, so perhaps it wasn't that evil.

Collette walked slowly down the hallway after leaving the room. After contemplating, anything she might be able to do to be helpful, she brought back everyone apples ( even if it didnt do the least bit of good, she was still trying to show that she cared for them)

Kalia had wandered off, down the hall, zoned out. She snapped out of it and saw where she was. She had been standing on the steps where the whole thing had began. She smiled and walked back inside the building. The first person she ran into was Collette, who offered her an apple. She took it, smiling, and walked with her.
"Hello, Collette. How are you today?" she asked, taking a small bite of the apple.

Kalia took pity on her friend and laid a reassuring hand on Collette's shoulder.
"Don't worry, I can kind of tell when something's bothering them, mainly him. So dont worry, I'll make sure that they are in as much comfort as possible," she said, patting her shoulder. "Wanna go visit them?" she asked, looking at Collette.

Calad rolled back onto his back, and drew himself up to a sitting position. He slipped out of bed, and then looked at the table next to him. His old, ragged, bloody clothes were folded neatly on the table and he was now clad all in white. He peered around, but turned back to Thengise.

Collette remembered Nayru and what had happened earlier.
" Nah, i wager they need a bit of time alone to...talk and stuff"
*chuckles and proceeds down the hallyway, looking for Calad and thengise to give them thier apples*

Calad walked out of the room, ignoring Thengise. "Where.. they?!" he mumbled loudly. He stood still in the middle of the hallway.

The elf ate the whole apple, even the core and seeds hungrily, and answered, "No one.."

Thengise went into the hall, where she bumped into Collette and Calad.

"There you are,"Thengise said to Collette.

"Thank you,"Thengise said taking the apple. She began to nibble at it and looked over at Calad. "Shouldn't you be in bed?"she asked Calad softly.

Sorell's silver eyes opened wide and his pale cheeks went red. He stared at Nayru, whoseemed slightly embarrassed as well. He rubbed at the pain on his side and lay back down, thinking hard.
Could Nayru have taken his words to a different meaning? He hoped not. Nayru was lovely, but he didn't like her in that way. She was like a little sister. Sorell decided it was simply a friendly kiss, and turned to his side. He couldn't get comfortable, so he rose and went for a walk. The pain was intense, but it helped clear his head.
Sorell turned a corner and jumped.
"Oh. Hello. Sorry, you scared me slightly."

Kalia slightly jumped back as she ran into Sorell in the hallway. She had been meaning to check on the two.
"Hi, Sorell. What are you doing out of bed?" she asked.

Collette sauntered down the hall and past Kalia and Sorell. She handed him an apple for apperent reason. " Your better already?" she asked quizically.

Sorell squeezed the apple slightly and flames shot out of it. He ate it then, fire and all.
"Um...well, I'm just taking a walk, so.."
Kalia broke in immediatly, pointing to the bandages.
"You are in pain. You're nowhere near better, go back to bed and rest."
Sorell shot her a glare. "No. I just thought I'd have a chat with Calad, actually. Ok?" and without waiting for an answer, he went off down the hall. Reaching Calad's room, he pushed open the door gently and crept in.
"Calad. Are you in here? I wanted to ask you something."

Collette walked back into the room to see Nayru. she was sleeping. sitting on a chair in the room, collette let her mind wander from all things real, as she absentmindedly fingered the picture upon the bright green vase on the small stand near the chair.somehow, the vase managed to tip over and crash. " ARGH!" collette said in distress and tried to peice it together to no avail. Nayru awoke, just as collette stole out of the room, back into the hall

Thengise was standing in the hall when she heard a loud crash and saw Collette rushing into the hall. Thengise stood in her way, stopping Collette from walking any further. "Going somewhere?"she said with a smile,knowing pretty much that she had broken something.

" i didnt break it i swear" she said quickly. "It fell over by itself" and proceeded to patter down the hall to hide, since it was obviously rare, expensive and old.

Thengise wondered the same so she decided to go to Calad's room to check how well he had recovered. "How do you feel?"she asked smiling as he sat on his bed.

Calad mumbled, "Okay. Fine." He fingered the bandages, hidden beneath the robes. He had a tired look to his face, and he took a seat on the opposite side of the bed.

Thengise did not know what to say to him. She was confused after everything that had happened. She looked at the walls and finally said,"Do you remeber your family?"

He looked at her profile, and thought. He remembered them faintly. "Some of them.. not all..." He scrambled over onto the other side of the bed, settling down to her right.

"Do you remember their names and what they were like?"she asked curiously.

Calad thought more, reaching back to distant memories. He then nodded slowly. "Yes... when not thinking... Mordor..." he murmured, some words too quiet to hear. He looked at Thengise, now noticing her beauty even more.

Thengise gave him a warm smile, and returned his gaze. when his face was softened, it was handsome. Her hand weaved into his

The elf looked down at her long, slender hand entwining with his. He mumbled, "What are you doing..." But otherwise allowed her to do it.

" am i making you uncomfortable" asked thengise, her eyes glimmering and her heart pounding and slightly withdrew her hand, questioning his eyes and his emotions.

He mumbled, "No..." And leant forward a bit. A few raven strands of hair tumbled down and partially obstructed his eyes as he stared blankly, still watching Thengise and her hands. This was only the second time he felt this way, and would take a while to get used to.

Thengise fought with herself, innerly. as much as she wanted this, she coudlnt help thinking that she was taking advantage of him. she to, lent forward, never feeling this way about anyone before either. she gazed into his eyes , hoping against hope he would make a move.

Collette skipped pass calads room and swerevd back around to see thengise in an obviously anxious moment, and decided to be nice, and shut the door for them and continue along her way

Calad looked back into her deep green eyes. He knew she expected something, so he ran a finger down her hand, then clenched onto it.

Thengise felt his hand on hers. She shivered with anxiety, but stared longingly into his eyes.

Nayru peeked out of her blankets to find Sorell.

She hoped out of the bed, and found some sort of crutches sitting by the door. With pain, she used the crutches to get out the door. She saw Sorell walking slowly back and forth in front of Calad's door, and she went to him.

"Sorell, I'm sorry. I couldn't help that. Please let me be your friend again..." She looked at him with puppy-dog eyes awaiting his answer

Calad saw the longing, and squeezed her hand so hard that his nails dug into her fair skin and squeezed out blood. He looked down, casting his eyes into shadow. He murmured something unintelligible, and looked back up at her.

Thengise looked down at her hand, which was in pain. She saw the blood trickling down her hand. She painfully looked back up at Calad, who was staring at her. She looked in his eyes and painfully said,"what are you doing?"

Calad slowly let go of her hand, and his palm was equally crimson with the elven blood. He wiped it off on his face, and murmured, "Don't know..."

She grabbed a cloth from the nightstand and cleaned the blood off of her hand. She looked back up at him and saw his face covered in her blood. She handed him the cloth so that he may clean up.

He held the cloth a moment, then threw it onto the floor angrily. Calad leant back until he was in a reclining position, staring up at the ceiling.

Thengise looked at her hand. It was no longer red. She looked at the cloth Calad had thrown. She looked at him lying on the bed. "What are you thinking about?"She asked softly.

Calad answered, "Nasty things..." and continued to stare up. He glanced at the cloth, strewn about on the floor. He had no curiousity to where the others were, and had only seen little of Collette, who had closed the door.

Thengise ran her hand through his hair. "Do not think about such things. There's no need to, come back to us and leave that state of mind,"She said looking at his face.

Calad stared at her. He had that beastly look in his eyes again, the pupil dilating. He sat up, and said loudly, "No! I hate them! I hate them all! I hate all of you! I hate the sky, the stars, the ground that you step upon! I hate it!" He slid down to the floor, panting, and stared up at her.

Thengise felt torn, yet part of her knew he did not mean it. It still hurt her to hear such words. She looked down at Calad who was staring up at her from the floor. "I promised you I would never hurt you as did you,"she said as she got down on the floor and bravely sat by him. She held his face, as she put her hands onto each cheak. She stared into his eyes snd said,"Calad, come back to me."

Calad shouted, "Who is Calad?! He is not Calad, his name is Snaga!" He then tore himself away from Thengise's grip, screamed, and thrashed around so furiously he even became afraid of himself, clawing at his face and making large bleeding gashes everywhere.

Kalia's head jerked in the direction of the room the two were in, and, hearing shouting, sped towards the room. She threw open the door and ran to restrain Calad.

Collette was sitting in the small sitting room across the way, reading a book about the cities of man. She heard many shreiks, some kalia's and some were calads. screaming that suddenly erupts in the most unlikely of times had become such a common occurance, that she wasnt suprised at all, but calmly set down her book and sauntered into the room to see how much bandages they would need.

Thengise backed away as Calad grew violent. She began to fear for him. It now seemed it was becoming harder for him to become sane. She slowly walked forward to try to help Kalia restrain him. "We won't hurt you! Remember I promised you,"Thengise said to Calad hoping to calm him down.

Collette left for a moment, and came back with hot water for clening cuts and bandages, and tea, and rope seeing as they might need it all.

" if you dont stop it," said collette in a calm but loud voice, " i am going to tie you up so you cant move." she threatened calad.

Calad bit and clawed at everything he saw, and did not care for Collette's threat. "GO AWAY RINGWRAITH! I AM NOT YOURS!" he shouted. He thrashed around even harder, at times twitching and growling spasmodically. It seemed like nothing could keep him calm. "STOP -- IT!!" they could hear in the midst of the screaming and gurgling.

Kalia held on to Calad's arms with all her might as he thrashed around. HE bit onto her hand and she growled. She took her hand off his arm and swung it forward to try to punch him in the stomach and wind him.

As Calad stood, momentarily winded, more from suprise than pain, Collette seized her chance and tied his legs with three tight knots. She gave Kalia a 'look' telling her to distract his attention once more, so she could bind his arms.

Calad was very surprised, and cried out in rage. He tried desperately to tear the ropes off but as this did not work he flailed around more, yelling until his voice grew hoarse. "STOP!! GET OFF!!" shouted he, over and over. His face was red from all of the heat, along with the semi-dried tears still lingering on his burning cheeks and burning eyes.

" sorry calad but this is to prevent you from hurting yourself, as well as hurting us" said collette with a glance at thengises hand. Collette seized a cup of liquid, the same liquid that thengise ahad forced down her own throat to make her sleep, and had Kalia hold his mouth open and he was soon slumped upon the floor like a dead thing. She bound his hands and could now safely clean his cuts upon his face.

Kalia sighed and got a cloth to clean her hands, for he had bitten her and broken the skin, causing her to bleed. She looked at Calad, who was passed out on the floor, and back to Thengise, who had a sad look upon her face.
"What is troubling you?" she asked, standing next to her friend.

Thengise looked sadly down at Calad who was now slumped upon the floor. She bound her own hand which was still bleeding a little.

"It scares me for it has become harder for Calad to come to his normal state of mind. The light in his eyes at time becomes smothered by his anger. I fear the worst and only hope we can make it to Rivendell on time. I have already lost my mother and I am determined not to lose him, yet there is nothing I can do,"Thengise replied softly.

" of course there are things you can do" said collette briskly wiping her bleeding shoulder. " you are both mirkwood elves. you know him the best of all of us , and he likes you the most. find out his weaknesses, so it mayb e easier to restrain him next time he has a fit. do not lose hope. I am not leaving until we have some sort of resolution or cure as to the state of his mental incapacitation."
Her face changed from grim to cheery once more and offered them the tea she had brought in for them.
Collette had found her place there. no longer wondering what her purpose was, she knew it was to keep their spirits high.

((A small comment: Don't read this while eating. ))

Calad woke up just as quickly as he had passed out. He found himself bound up by the rough ropes, tied so tightly that it almost cut through his skin. He grunted, growled, and squirmed around. However, he was not gagged, and could shout out anything he desired. But, his voice was heavy and hoarse; it was tired as well from all of the yelling and commition.
He glanced up at the others, who seemed to be talking about his condition getting worse. He managed to sit up and draw his knees to his rope-bound chest, unable to move his arms. He felt a strange burning sensation in the deep part of his throat, and vomited up the liquid, everything he had eaten in the past day, and the black substance. This pooled about all over his lap and dribbled to the floor. He growled more, and did not allow anyone near him.

Collette rushed over, trying to maintain her state of calm, and mop up what he had spewed about the floor, but it wrenched her heart and made her sick. she backed away and allowed thengise to finish.

Thengise looked down at Calad as he vomited the black gunk on the floor. She stepped back a bit at the horrible sight. She couldn't bear to see Calad suffer so much. Finally she came forward. She tried to get near him as Collette finished mopping but he would not allow it.

"Please let me help you. I really do care about you and I swear I will never ever hurt you. You mean a lot to me, so please do not be afraid,"Thengise said softly as she slowly came closer to him. She realized that everything she had said was very true. A tear ran down her face which she quickly swept off.

Nayru sat her crutches down and painfully walked to Calad.

"Calad. Please. I know you think bad thinga about us, but don't. We will not hurt you. I swear on my mother and father's DEATH. We won't. Ke eya. Astril wi. *It's OK. Believe Us.*" Nayru had a said look in her eyes.

Calad then looked up, wide-eyed, at both Nayru and Thengise. Mainly he looked at Thengise. He then sighed, and allowed them to go closer.

Thengise slowly moved closer to Calad, hoping he wouldn't push her away. Suprisingly he didn't move or struggle. She was finally eye to eye with him. She could see the faint light in his eyes slowly becoming more visible. "Calad, I will not hurt you,"she said as she began to softly stroke his hair,"Are you ok?"she asked hoping he was sane.

Calad made a soft whimpering noise, but soon answered, "...y..yes.... you..." His voice tapered off, but then returned. "..hurt me..." The light in his eyes returned slowly, and he wiggled his fingers through the ropes that bound him tightly. He allowed Thengise to touch him, to hold him, for she was the only one he trusted and perhaps favored. He was reminded of his mother now; his memory faintly returned. His breath came out in sobbing gasps.

"I would never hurt you,"Thengise said softly into his ear. She smiled as he came to his senses. "I care for you too much to ever hurt you, or at least not intentionally,"She whispered tp him.

Calad slowly nodded. His breathing did not change, however. He did something a bit strange, and nuzzled into Thengise, burying his face in her chest, in order not to see everyone else.

Thengise looked down at Calad as he buried himself into her. She let him do so and smiled knowing he was coming back to his senses. She wrapped her arms around him and softly lay her head on his own. For that moment she had forgotten about everyone else in the room. The rest of the group quietly watched not daring to speak out loud, as to not startle Calad.

Collette smiled at them and fingered her dress as she asked " i think we should leave as soon as possible. as soon as Nayru and Sorell are healed, before we have any more accidents"

Kalia grinned.
"The hazardous hobbit has a point! As soon as they are healed, let's leave," she said, walking towards the door.
She opened the door and walked around, looking for the other two faeries.

Calad unwrapped himself from his grip on Thengise. He turned around to look at the others, now leaving. The elf drew his knees to his chest, and rested his chin of them. He kept near to Thengise, though, watching them exit through the doorway out unto the hall.

Thengise also watched the rest of the group as they left the room. She looked down at Calad as he rested his chin on his knees. "We should go gather our things,"she said softly as she began to stand up. She stood at the doorway waiting for Calad to follow.

"Why?" Asked he, not remembering about Rivendell. He slowly stood up anyway, still tied up. He looked around the room for a moment, then at Thengise. She walked out of the room, occasionally looking back and checking on Calad as he hopped over to exit the room after her.

"It is almost time for us to go to Rivendell! Where you will be healed,"she said smiling. She walked into her room and began to gather her things. She looked over at Calad who slowly sat himself on her bed. "If I take off the ropes do you promise not to run away or hurt anybody?"she asked Calad as she couldn't stand seeing him tied up.

[The Fifth]

Calad then remembered that they were going to Rivendell, after Thengise explained briefly. He still doubted that he would get healed, for his condition was so bad that they might have to send him to Valinor. He looked down. "No.. that will I do.." he murmured, and then made a few noises of pain as he moved his arms and legs, the ropes cutting into his skin but he didn't seem to mind. The ropes soon loosened, and he wriggled out of them laborously.

Thengise felt bad for the elf yet he probably would lose control. She sat down and thought about Rivendell and what would happen when they arrived. She looked down at Calad who was wriggling out of the ropes. "I wish there was something I could do for you,"Thengise said softly,"Do you need anything?"she asked hoping she could help him in anyway.

[The Fifth]

Calad shook his head, then continued to look down. He felt a bit strange; a memory had flashed briefly and crossed his mind. He began to sing, very softly, a sweet, lulling song that gradually became audible. He stopped suddenly as he saw Thengise staring at him. He slid down onto the floor, taking a seat there and waiting the rest of the time.

Thengise stared at Calad as he began to sing. It reminded her of Mirkwood. His soft voice warmed her heart. He seemed to be revealing his true self once more. "It's beautiful, please continue,"Thengise urged.

[The Fifth]

Calad nodded slowly, and began to continue from where he had left off. He began to a remember the song more, but never remembered the words. Through the melody of the song, green leaves shook in the wind, birds twittered upon their perches in the full trees, with the sun coming down the canopy and yet darkening the forest instead of making it brighter. The melody changed from sweet to sorrowful, then back, always shifting. He looked down the whole time, and from outside the room, perhaps a couple of folk passing by could hear faintly through the door.

Thengise now sat up in her chair as she listened to his song. It brought her back to Mirkwood. She imagined herself sitting in a tree looking down and seeing Calad now healed as he sang his song. She shook herself back to reality. She looked at Calad with much awe.

[The Fifth]

Calad drew the song to an end, then looked up at Thengise, who looked at awe at him. He had a slightly peaceful look to his face, and his eyes shone softly with the light of the full moon. He was not healed yet, but had only limited control over himself for now. Any minute he could revert back into his psychotic, raging, swirling form tucked underneath his true fea (spirit).

Thengise smiled as his song ended. "That was very beautiful,"she said softly. She stared longingly into his eyes then turned to look outside. "Would you like to go for a walk?"she asked softly. "It's been long since i've walked among the trees, though you may stay if you like,"she continued.

Calad drew himself up from the floor, standing up and looking to Thengise. He had gotten used to following her about. He looked out of the window, to gaze upon the trees growing outside.

Thengise smiled and began to lead Calad out of the room. As they walked through the hall she saw the faeries in their room. She smiled to see they were better. She walked on and soon they were leaving the front door of the house. She turned around to see Calad slowly walking behind her.

[The Fifth]

Calad looked about. Since his room was next to Thengise's, he could see the window in his room, still broken, and a bit of blood. He ignored it, and continued to follow Thengise, soon coming up next to her.

Thengise looked at Calad who was still tied up. She gave him a soft smile and began to walk outside through the trees alongside him. "Do you remember anything from your past?"she asked hopefully as they walked throught the trees.

[The Fifth]

Calad stopped walking, and thought for a while. He could conjure up a few images from minor events in his life, but soon those images turned into black ones, those of orcs and whips and the fire of Mt. Doom as he was carried, chained up, to the Dark Tower. He stood still as a statue, staring at Thengise. After a few more moments, he murmured, "I.. don't! Remember!" His speech reverted back into the fragmented nonsense, and he drew himself down to the floor.

Thengise stared at him as he thought. Then he shouted and dropped himself to the ground. "Oh I'm so sorry! I should have never mentioned it,"she said as she dropped to the ground beside him and stroked his hair to try to calm him down.

The elf slowly stood up. He glanced at Thengise before leaping up a tree, with the leaves rustling as he sat on a thick branch just above her. He said nothing, and looked at the horizon, which could be seen. The sun was starting to set. The shadow were thick, inky, and the horizon, along with the figures of trees and building, were inky black as well, with the sky a periwinkle color, the clouds pink and tinged with orange, and the sun sinking below, shining a radiant golden orange.

Thengise looked up at Calad as he jumped into the tree. She jumped into the branch and sat by Calad. "A beautiful sunset don't you think. Oh how I loved watching the sunset in Mirkwood as I sat up in a tree,"she said softly as she watched the sunset.

Calad stared back at Thengise, moon-eyed. "Yes.. I remember a bit.. but.. Mirkwood was too dark to see the sunset.." he mumbled. He looked down at the the dirt path, and scooted a bit closer towards Thengise. The wind blew only lightly, making the leaves clap together softly in a subtle applause.

Thengise smiled. "Yes sadly the shadow in Mirkwood was becoming larger. Yet now it is starting to clear,"Thengise said smiling. "There is a lot of evil, yet only with faith may we overcome it,"she continued. She turned to Calad and stared at his hazel eyes.

His eyes widened again as another memory struck him. "The Dark Lord!" He shuddered. "We.. were driving him out.. he.. fled to.. Mordor... with me..." He muttered, and cringed.

Thengise watched him wide eyed as he began to speak of the Dark Lord. "Oh, i'm sorry for what happened to you. You are a noble elf to have fought for our people,"she said softly as she embraced Calad in order to calm him.

Collette poked her head from the doorframe with a smile wider than the Anduin. " PACK IT YOU TWO! were finally leaving!" she said ecstatically. the faeries had said they were fine to ride, or walk ( whether they were lying or no) and Kalia had reluctantly accepted. " ive been packed for days!" said collette waiting outside the hallway, watching Sorell and Nayru limp about.

Thengise quickly released Calad. "I'm already ready,"she said blushing as she jumped down from the tree. Calad slowly followed her back into their rooms. Thengise grabbed her things and went into the hall. "I have my things now,"she said to Collette.

Calad had followed Thengise for a while as she grabbed her things, and, having no possessions of his own, waited quietly for her to finish. He followed the elf and hobbit through the hallway, where they soon emerged forth from the dark hall and joined the faeries, still injured but well enough to go on the journey to Rivendell. Calad had his own thoughts. He wondered how long it would take, and how long he would be able to surivive with these other people around.

And so Calad asked Thengise. "Where exactly is Rivendell?"
Thengise smiled softly at him as he asked. "It is just beyond the Misty Mountains; don't worry, it is not that far."
Calad had once crossed a row of very large mountains once, and had seen a small but ornate tower, filled with the light of the sunrise, protruding just behind a mountain peak. However, he did not care much about it, and continued on. Perhaps, he suspected, that was part of Rivendell.

Collette gingerly hopped upon her pony, nudging it in the sides to make it go as they set forth once more. Sorell and Nayru were on horses behind her. with every trot, Sorell seemed to wince.
Calad was in front, close to thengise.
She stared ahead as if deep in thouhgt
Collette rode up behind her and decided to make a conversation.
" what are you thinking?" she asked quietly.

Thengise smiled as her friend rode up behind her. "Nothing really. I'm thinking about my father and how I miss him. I also miss Mirkwood terribly, but I wanted adventure and here I have it. I'm glad I came though,"she said thinking about Calad, her new found friends, and being with her best friend.

" i miss Mirkwood too." Collette confessed." it so easy to be at peace there, but to be honest i will always favor the Shire more." she laughed. " if Calad is cured, are you going to take him back to mirkwood to find his family maybe?" she wondered aloud.

Thengise laughed to herself as Collette mentioned how she favored the Shire. "Yes, I will take him to Mirkwood to help him find his family once he is cured,"she said, truly hoping that they would be able to cure him. She worried that he was to ill to cure and that he would never be himself again.

Nayru slowly rode on the horse, with both legs over one side.
"Ah, I can't wait until Rivendell. A nice warm bed and good food. And no gaurds to shoot me down!" Collete Giggled and they rode on.

Collette sighed. " but maybe the only cure is for him to see his family again, and re open all the good memories that cannot bring forth anymore. if we cannot cure him in rivendell...who knows? we could try that." she said, squirming in her saddle, already getting sore.

"Yes, we could. So what about you? What's on your mind?"Thengise asked as she thought about who Calad's family could be.

Collette fingered her braclelet. " aw, im thinking about what im gonna do if he gets healed in Rivendell, and where im going from there. i think Bree, or maybe the south end of the Shire and see if they will let me in" seh said, her eyes glazing over.

Calad watched the horses, and the riders mounted on them. He hopped onto Thengise's steed and sat right behind her, listening to the conversation about him being healed and reuniting with his family.

Kalia smiled at the others, who were riding in front of her. She looked at Thengise and Calad, who seemed to be best friends. She thought about earlier, when Calad had thrown the giant fit. She rubbed her hand where Calad had bitten as she thought, her horse following after the others.
