HAHA!!!! smilies/biggrin.gif
I saw The Adventures of Priscilla: Queen of the Desert right after I saw the Fellowship of the Ring, so quite predictably, when I first saw Hugo in full-on drag-queen attire I did a double take and turned quite green around the gills. Of course, then I started laughing at his antics, but that initial reaction of mine was just priceless!

when you get annoyed when people don't pronounce the double "n" in "Yavanna".
Right...how precisely do you pronounce it??? I always say it like yav-anna (as in the name Anna). Oh well...
Ditto, Arwen...
-When you mishear absolutely everything as something LotR related
-When you can turn every single conversation to discussion of LotR (not that it always works...my friends are used to me now and can just as skilfully turn the conversation back again smilies/rolleyes.gif )
Again, not guilty of these crimes, of course!

You pronounce it right. Basically, the double "n" is pronounced as in "unnamed," rather than "name".

Shouldn't the "anna" part be pronounced as "onna" as in "stop" instead of "anna" like the name? Ah, well.
You know you are obsessed with LotR when, at the Pinchas Zukerman and NAC concert last night (which was absolutely wonderful by the way smilies/biggrin.gif) you see a violin player whos mouth and facial expressions look remarkably like Billy Boyd, and immediately start naming the other members of the orchestra after Middle-Earth people. Let's see, that cellist is Arwen except with blonde hair...and that violinist is Bilbo, and that bassist is Aragorn...yessss...

Don't meant to dampen thy parade, but it's Gil-Galad WAS AN elven king." I should know, I've memorised it.

And then you get into a fight with your mother because while trying to explain why the waffle iron was being used for something that isn't a waffle, she completely mistook the identity of what I was baking...er... mistook the identity of what that person was baking... *hehe... clever me... they'll never know...*

I and my friends are baking a cake, and dressing up as Hobbits tomorrow. I'm even going to bring my walking staff (all right, it's a shower curtain rod, but they can double as staffs!). It's a pity that we can't bring fireworks inside the school, or on school grounds. It would have been so much fun to pull off a Merry-and-Pippin and blow a tent off of the ground, while setting off a dragon-shaped firework.
Ah, well.

Um, I hate to rain all over your parties, but Frodo and Bilbo's birthday is Halimath 22, not September 22. The Shire-months are not the same as our months. Frodo and Bilbo's birthday was a week ago. If you want to kelebrate tomorrow, I won't laugh at you, I just thought you might want to know.
I went shopping with my mom yesterday and got the pattern for my elven-dress! I'm so happy! Also, we rented FotR EE and TTT, and had a movie marathon! (Feel free to throw things at me, but I don't own any LotR videos. It's sad, really.)*dodges thrown objects*
There's a guy at my school who looks like Merry, and his name is Sam!

Darn, I didn't realize that time-translation thing! Ah well, I'm going to kelebrate tomorrow whether it's official or not...hehe. Thanks, Elennar, for letting us know...that means next year we can kelebrate on both 22 Halimath and September 22! *cheers* smilies/biggrin.gif

Yeah, I figured that out. I had my "private party" about a week ago, and tomorrow is going to be the public kelebration (for all the non-Tolkienites at my school who don't know better, and think that Middle-earth runs on the same calendar as we do).

Ok, I'm assuming you're American (sorry if that is a terrible insult because you're Canadian or something...or neither lol), because if I say 'anna' with an American accent it sounds really broad, whereas our (English) 'anna' is like the American 'onna'.

My school fencing club started on Friday!! It was great, and I met another LotR fan there too! smilies/biggrin.gif smilies/biggrin.gif We were all sitting on the floor, and I hear this girl behind me say "I'm from the Shire." So I turned around and said to her "Do you like LotR too?" It turned out that she does, and she's heard of the 'downs! smilies/cool.gif Today she came up to me and asked me what my name on the forum was and told me she was gonna join.
Today I told everyone I talked to "Happy Hobbit day!" Did you guys know that today is official Hobbit Day (even though it's not really Frodo & Bilbo's birthday) and that this is Tolkien Week? Unfortunately, I have no hobbit costume smilies/frown.gif to wear to school. I tried to get my little brother to wear his Frodo costume to school, but he wouldn't, which is especially too bad because he looks quite a bit like Elijah Wood. I would have stolen said costume to wear, except my brother is a head shorter than I am. smilies/frown.gif
You know you're obsessed when:
You write Happy Hobbit Day on your hand
You put notes in the Tolkien books in your school library that say " If you know what Do the wave for Boromir the disco king means, please PM Orominuialwen" That was a great idea, Goldberry! We should all do this!

When you go to see Secondhand Lions just to see the ROTK trailer. (I'm going Saturday. I really want to go Friday, but it's not going to work out)
When you've considered taking up archery, then decide while sitting in the theatre watchng TTT to definitely get a bow... then get a recurve so you can be more elvish (yes, I'm guilty of that one, too!)

When you buy a knife (it's a flipblade) that you wear at all times, and can't decide if you should name it Sting or Glamdring.
When you name your closet the Mathom House.
(my closet has some clothes in it that I do wear, but other than that, it's full of stuff I'm not using now, but might possibly need sometime)
When shopping for clothes, you constanly look for clothes that look more elvish, then give up, and decide to make some yourself, so you can give them the desired elvish look.

Ya know what? In real life I'm pretty shy and quiet but on the Downs I'm more...outspoken. Hmm... Ah well.
I'm kind of like that, too. I'm not really that shy, per se, but I seem to be about my obssession (odd, that I should be embarassed about it or something, since I'm very obssessed and have been for let's see.... four years?).

That is a very good idea! smilies/biggrin.gif I should do that! Hopefully sometime one of us will actually find one of those notes.
Guess what? You know how certain theaters will be doing a special promo of RotK, showing the Fellowship and Towers EV's on the 16th and then showing RotK at midnight? I JUST FOUND OUT THAT THE THEATER BY ME HAS BEEN CHOSEN TO DO THAT!!!!! *jumps up and down in hyper-ness* I'm so excited!
Wow! You're lucky! smilies/biggrin.gif How did you find out? I wonder if any of the theaters near me is doing that.....
I fell asleep last night, but I forgot to take my Ring off before I went to bed (I was *that* tired...), so I still had the chain around my neck. Then I woke up in the middle of the night and my hand had clenched around the Ring while I slept.

Meneltarmacil, I wish that I went to your school, but I don't because we have only had two meetings thus far. (tomorrow is the third)
--When you, being a cat lover, name every stray cat you see after a LotR character. Thus far, there's a Luthien, an Aredhel, an Idril, a Glorfindel, and a Tom Bom.badil wandering around. Only they don't know it yet.
--When you and some people you hardly know end up having a very loud discussion of LotR very much in public and you end up correcting about half of the pronunciations.
--When you can recite the movie.
--When you have decided that the guy you currently like must be a Ranger because he's unfortunately not handsome enough to be an elf, but he has the grey eyes, dark hair, and weathered look of a Dunedain. (But he certainly sings like an elf. Or an angel. Take your pick.)
--When you plan to call your boyfriend Beren and make him call you Tinuviel. (If I ever get a boyfriend, that is...)
--When you freak out because a sight with pictures of costumes from the movie has a nonexistent character mentioned by name and rant about it for about thirty minutes.

I missed you, Luthien! Welcome back
Why thank you all! I feel so special! smilies/biggrin.gif
When we finally do read The Hobbit in class, I am going to be sure I read out loud for a lot of the time so people don't mispronounce names and such.
smilies/tongue.gif
When you practically cry because you remember that it's only September 25, and for the past two days you had been thinking it was October, so it was a whole month closer to November 18. Yes, sometimes I have a little problem with months.
Only one more day until the RoTK trailer online, though. I think....
When you have to write an essay about three imaginary friends for school, and you make up three hobbit lasses, Pervinca Oldbuck, Asphodel Bolger, and Marigold Proudfoot. In fact, you go on the Downs when you should be writing said essay (it's already a day late!)
I did that, too! You get really weird looks for naming characters Myrtle and Estella.
When you're doing one of the new crosswords you see a clue that says "hottest steward" and immediately think of Meela.
Me too! smilies/evil.gif
When you ask your dance teacher if there's any chance you'll be learning disco. (I shall do this tomorrow) Wave squid at the disco king!
And this ties into one of mine: When you are writing a comic book for your own amusement, so of course you pull LOTR characters into it..... By the way, Elennar, everyone in my comic is doing the wave for Boromir the Disco King. Do you mind if I have someone say "Wave kings at Boromir the Disco Squid"?
When you, being a cat lover, name every stray cat you see after a LotR character. Thus far, there's a Luthien, an Aredhel, an Idril, a Glorfindel, and a Tom Bom.badil wandering around. Only they don't know it yet.

Now for my additions:
-When you relate everything in your English class to LOTR (Sam is a dynamic character, Gandalf is dynamic, Gwiahir is static....)
-I've worn my ring necklace every day but one for the past two weeks now (or something like that). I've gotten so used to it that I didn't even think to be self-concious going to the store and the library wearing it! That's progress! And a sure way to meet another Downie or get a chance to refer someone..... *plotting*

You should name one Beruthiel.
But I haven't seen a Beruthiel; they're all named after the character they most remind me of.
Luthien was grey and lovely, Aredhel was independent and unpredictable, Idril and Glorfindel were both gold tabbies, Tom was high on catnip, I think. But I haven't seen a depressed black cat yet.

He He He. Some of these are funny. How about:
-You go on a geography field trip and the scenery is like Rohan at the beginning of the 2nd movie and imagine Aragorn, Legolas and Gimli running round the hills. When you tell your friends, they finish your sentence for you.
-Returning from the said field trip, you notice a shop called Rohan and your said friends say 'We know Francesca.'
-A few nights later you are telling your mum about the said shop and she says she knows too! And its a chain of shops. You then ask for some clothes from this shop. (She laughs)
-In Maths, you are doing simultaneous equations but instead continually write 'Silm....'
-At school on a huge board you see the name 'Proudfoot' and are hyper for the rest of the day.
-Your dad calls your dog (named george) Smaugy and explain who that actually is.
-At a meal when your only brother is out at the cinema, you manage to turn every subject to LOTR and keep it there until you start eating again. The brother being out is good because he turns everything away from LOTR. Nasssty, isnt he precious?
I think thats it for the day. Hmmmm

You know you're obsessed when you notice that if you move one space in 'one ring to rule them all' you get 'one ring to rule the mall.' You then proceed to parody the entire ring poem by moving spaces, and writing things how they sound. It's pretty dumb, but here it is:
Three rings for the elven king sunder the sky,
Seven for the dwarf lord sin their halls of stone,
Nine former tall men doomed to die,
One fort he, dark lord, honest dark thrown,
In the land of more door where the shadows lie.
On erring to rule the mall,
On erring to find them,
On erring tub ring the mall,
A din the darkness bind them,
In the land of more door where the shadows lie.
I was tired. When I'm tired my brain does weird things. (like thinking my math teacher sounds like a bagpipe, and bagpipes look like turkeys. smilies/eek.gif so I thought about turkeys shouting math problems at me, instead of doing my assignment.)

Go here (http://forum.barrowdowns.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=17&t=000522) and it will all be explained to you. The madness starts on page three.
You know you're obsessed when:
You get a job at BK solely for the fact that they are going to promote FotR.
You keep all frycartons, tray liners, cups, etc. from said promotion.
The owner of the store gives you first dibs on said promotional posters.
You cry because you are not eligible for the contest held at BK.
You are asked "Hey Alice, anything new on the LotR front?"
You constantly wonder why a Nazgul was not featured in the "Ring of Power" BK toys, and Celeborn was.
You kept a running countdown on FotR and TTT.
Said countdown was spoiled because someone kept either taking your doodled napkins down, or writing "evil" on them.
You only want your driver's licence so that you can drive yourself to the theater to see RotK. (I've got til the eleventh!)
You are going to make a LotR spoof starring the dog.
Umm...that's all the ones I can think of at the moment.

-When you write your friend's birthday card in Tengwar, and she doesn't know it... smilies/evil.gif
-When, whenever you get that look in your eyes and take a deep breath to squeal something about LotR, your friends clamp their hands over your mouth, knowing what's coming.
-When you start squealing uncontrolably when you see the shiny new RotK posters at your local movie theater. *squee* They only had the Aragorn one at first. Now they have them all! ...Needless to say, my friends refused to associate with me...

Even though I wasn't around when Boromir was crowned Disco King, can I still have something on the side of my binder that says in all caps DO THE WAVE FOR BOROMIR THE DISCO KING!!! with a squid beneath it? (which has earned me 2 weird looks thus far^ ^)
Of course you can!
When you go to see a movie just to see the ROTK trailer, then walk around the mall so you can look at the LotR books and magazine articles and go to the weapons store on the other side of the mall to see all the LotR swords!
There's a weapons store at your mall?!?!?! *Elennar turns an interesting shade of green*
I am soooo jealous!!!
(only mine was a mix of bubble writing and tengwar because I couldn't remember all the letters).
I bet that looks strange...
And what is a homecoming game?
Well, it's a football game, I am not sure exactly what 'homecoming' means. People get very excited, and there's a dance, and people wear school colors (I protested, my school colors are red and gold, so I wore green and silver, a much nicer color combination, in my opinion) and act like idiots at the pep rally. (of course, people act like idiots at pep rallys anyway, they just act like bigger idiots at homecoming time.)
And, lucky you, you get to live in England! *turns green again*
Football so can't compare to a nice bloody orc-slaughter.
So true. I just had an interesting thought...Football players as orcs! Hmmm, I shall have to write a parody. Cheerleaders, umm...what should they be? orcs are taken, so perhaps they could be goblins? Share your thoughts!

Next time I'm half-awake, I will do the riddle of Strider! Or maybe something else, I don't know yet. It'll be just as cheesy, I promise!

Cheerleaders should be Keebler elfs. Those are the most evil things on the face of Middle-Earth.
--When you spell the word 'gray' in the English manner, 'grey,' rather than the American manner because you've read the words Gandalf the Grey so many times.
--When your best friend (who designs and makes costumes) says she'll let you borrow one of the dresses she's made that looks like an elvish dress to wear to RotK premiere, but only if you don't talk about LotR for a while. You actually decide that a dress to wear to the opening night is worth it.
--You dance with glee when someone tells you that you look like an elf.
--Your best friend got tired of you not wearing make-up and just doing your hair in a ponytail, so she convinced you that you would look more like an elf if you wore your hair down and made it wavy. She was right!

You're so lucky! smilies/biggrin.gif I hope someone tells me that someday soon! The closest I've ever gotten is that I look elvish, and one person thought I looked like Liv Tyler (I don't really, nut I took it as a compliment, because Liv Tyler plays Arwen, as we all know, and Arwen looks like Luthien, so it could indirectly mean that I look like Luthien if one stretches things a bit.) smilies/rolleyes.gif

Amarantha, you are so lucky! I really want to learn Japanese.

And I did the same as Orominuialwen, skipping my school's homecoming game (heck, every game) to get on the 'Downs and watch LotR repeatedly. Football so can't compare to a nice bloody orc-slaughter. The only way I would even consider going to the dance was if they were going to do the Springle Ring- then you wouldn't be able to keep me away! smilies/biggrin.gif But I do do Irish Ceili dancing (it's a kind of folk dance), and I think the Springle Ring must be a lot like that.

Agreed. smilies/smile.gif I do the same. Or if you want it to be a bit less wavy, you can just make a few little curved hairs popping out, to make it seem a bit messy. It kind of looks like hobbit hair... It's hard to explain this without drawing!

Nah, you don't sound ignorant. Manga is one of those things that, if your familiar with it, you know what it is. If you don't, you'll probably never hear about it. smilies/wink.gif Do you know what anime is? It's those Japanese style "cartoons" for lack of a better word. Now I am going to draw Sam, and I will try to post my finished pic.
For my sake: make it good. Make it very very good. Work on it as hard as you can. If only I had a scanner, I could show you all my pictures of the hobbits from my weird anime-ish drawing style comic book thing. I have some really cute ones, especially the one of Pippin standing on his head and Sam looking at him questioningly. And the ones where Sam is daydreaming about potatoes. Those are the best.

I got my braces dark blue and silver, the Noldor and Last Alliance colours!
And I was wondering what colour to have them! Which was which? Blue for Men and Silver for Elves or vice versa?
When you were having a picnic in Maths and your teacher was handing our Haribo sweets, you took the yellow ring with the red jewel. Instead of eating it, you put it on your finger and proclaim you are: "Gandalf, wielding Narya, to Rekindle hearts in a world grown cold." You keep the ring on until midday (when you get hungry) and keep on showing/telling people.
I hav many minor things to tell, but they have become so commonplace I see little point. Such as being called dwarf and considering it a compliment or doing your book report on LotR.

routinely you go into every books shop and assess their tolkien collection (nothing weird about that). one day you visit your local and head of course to the tolkien shelves, obviously, and find that all your lovely books (you assume that one day they will be yours) are GONE, so you screech and demand to see the manager.
you work in said book shop for your work experience and are delighted to find that one of the employees is a tolkienite. you spend hours discussing the various merits of the books and the movies, every once in a while staring longingly at the hardback complete box set of LOTR illustrated by alan lee and inform said new friend that one day, when you are rich that shall be yours.

Yes, yes! Though I prefer using 'Elendil' when in such sayings. "For the love of Elendil, man!" in a posh English accent is what usually comes. Though once, in a football game, I ran down the field and yelled "Elendiiiiiil!" ...and I scored a goal. *shrug* Hey, it works.

Something weird happened today. Before I tell you what it was, you need some background info, or you will not understand it. I have a friend who calls me a geek every day at least once. She also likes to call me ditzy. (I can be extremely ditzy sometimes) Today, she said that "square" means geek, so she was calling me that. Then she called me a "ditzy square". I immediately noticed the similar sounds to "disco squid". I was laughing so hard and she had no idea what I was laughing about!
In my math class I started talking with the girl who sits next to me, and naturally I turned the conversation to LotR, and she actually was interested! One of the few people who doesn't get majorly annoyed when I start talking about LotR. smilies/biggrin.gif

If you don't get this, just watch TVLand at four o'clock in the afternoon. I loved the Favorite Things song, so I wrote this!
Just sit right back and you'll hear a tale
A tale of a fateful trip
Nine men came to Lord Elrond's home
And formed the Fellowship
The wizard was a mighty magic man
The elf could walk on snow
Four hobbits, Gimli, and two men
Braved Caradhras' blow.
[WHOOSH! Change key]]
The journey started getting rough
The Balrog sure was mad
Gandalf's death left Sam and Aragorn
And Celeborn really sad.
{Change key again]
Setting off on the river Anduin
The orcs gave them no fear
But the breaking of the Fellowship
Was the death of Boromir!
Elanor, get yerself an email so I can talk to you during Chem class!
By the way, I wrote one for the Two Towers- I'll toss that in tomorrow.

You know you're obsessed with LotR when...
....I surf all day on the internet to find new Tolkien/LotR sites with discussion forums.
....my posters fall down from the wall in the middle of the night and I get up just to paste them up again. (I mean, come one...that's bad...especially when your bed is your best friend and your pillow is your other 'mate'... smilies/smile.gif)
....I search every single site on the web to find some 'inspiration' to the LotR costume you're going to make.
....I'm willing to sleep outside to get premiere tickets, even though it will be snowing...(I'm sure there will, it always does, that time a year smilies/smile.gif)
....I get addicted to certain LotR sites *cough Barrowdowns cough*. And when I've got a virus on my own computer I just have to take the bus to the library every time I have tons of homework, waiting on your desk. smilies/eek.gif
....My LotR soundtracks/books/other accessories are precious, and NO one is to touch them...when I say NO one, I mean absolutely no one... smilies/biggrin.gif smilies/evil.gif
....I'm getting annoyed about things they did 'wrong' in the movies, hoping one day that perhaps I could make 'em better....and that I'll make FotR better which means that I will include Tom Bombadil. I'm afraid the whole case with Tom Bomabadil kind of annoys me. I think they did a BIG mistake letting him out from the LotR movie(s).(But I have to say that the movies are pretty good
)
....I try to learn Quenya, when no one around me can speak it. So the thought of me knowing it, speaking it etc, is really...um...obnoxious, because I will not be able to 'use' it. So, many would probably say it's waste of time. But I don't think it is because I'm....um...a fan...wanting to know more about the languages. Is that so bad? You are most like
The Dwarves
As the halls of Moria show, Dwarves like building and inventing.
The world exists to be explained and analyzed. You prefer to work quietly without interruption. Time alone is important and solitary activities refresh you. You have a tendency to introspection. In your desire for clarity in life, you may have the tendency of being remote or even "heartless". You like keeping your options open. Closure is probably not one of your strong suits.
As the foil to Aragorn, Sauron clearly embodies the evil side of this personality.
Traits: Pragmatic, autonomous, ingenious, resolute. On the dark side you could desire power and domination.
Ok, I've worked out why I hadn't read that stuff...I was reading page 4!!!!!!!!

WOW! I'm not as obsessed as some of you, but here's a couple more.
-Not only do you assess the Tolkien collection in every bookshop/library but make sure it looks pretty and they are in some kind of nice order.
-You are watching TV, when the Scottish Widow ad comes on (you have to be British to get this). You tell your mum that you want 1, she agrees, and tell her its because you can look elvish and like you are from Lothlorien. She laughs.
-Your dad is in the hearing of this conversation and even he understands what you are talking about even though he's never read any of the books or seen either film.
-You manage to explain the whole plot of ROTK and the end of TTT (the bit they missed off the film) to your friends in 10 minutes. AND you keep them interested.
-A guy in Yr 11, who occasionally talks to you knows on MSN Messenger knows you as Aragorn because of your never changing display pic.
-You play a game with yourself to see how quickly you can link ordinary words to LOTR. Paris--Eiffel Tower--Two Towers--LOTR (that was obvious though)
-You get sad when your friend won't let you talk about LOTR on MSN cos he's the only close friend who's read it.
-You have to bribe said friend with spilling his secrets if he doesn't let you talk about LOTR.

I say it in Sindarin,"Hannon in Velain."
Wasn't the Sindarin word for Vala Bala. Wouldn't it be Balar, like in the Isle of Balar? Or maybe Belain, I can't remember

-you are endeavouring to get atleast one volume of LOTR in many MANY languages and kick yourself when you go to a country and don't buy one. so far i have TTT in swedish and french, and the whole thing in english and german. i went to poland and didn't buy it smilies/mad.gif
-you squeal with delight while reading teh chapter names in said german version because the titles are so adorable AND they have stuck close to it (in french they changed flotsam and jetsam to something that was only one word so OBVIOUSLY it wasn't the same whereas in german it looks pretty good)
-you advise people who only speak english as a second language to read the original english version even if they don't understand it.
-you order said versions from the countries even if you don't go there (next one is going to be ROTK in russian i think).

And what exactly is 'Gnomliness'?
Basically, you have a gnome pass, you fit in with the other gnomes. You are gnomely, and you possess gnomliness. Only Gnomes may attend Gnome Parties, or Gatherings. I am an Elder Gnome (I got that position by bribary smilies/evil.gif ) so I can give out Gnome passes.
You know you're obsessed when half the stuff on here hardly seems obsessed to you.

-When you hear the word "namae" in Japanese class and mishear it, thinking it was "namarie I was thinking that myself...
You are obsessed when you start comparing every movie to LOTR, and finding that there arent many movies that do...
...I was watching FOTR the other day with my seven year old cousin, when it came to the part with Elrond telling Isuildor (sp?) to cast the ring into the fires, my cousin Jacob just looks at me and says, "Why doesnt he just push him in?" Now im thinking Surely if the kid gets it, Elrond is either really smart ot REALLY stupid. Im agreeing with the latter....
-When you are sitting around all day and mutter ou tof nowhere, "If only Sauron had a playstation." and then spend the next hour thinking baout what would have happened if he did.
-You watch anyother movie and keep expecting Aragorn to pop up from somewhere. (Ok i was watching Ned Kelly at home and i was thinking just when Orlando BLoom says, "If anyone could get an old man to share is daughter with three larakins like us, id be-" I half expected him to say "Aragorn")

When you hear common, everyday words, and automatically start quoting a LotR line that has that word in it. Then, quote the rest of the scene that line is from. Or, just ramdomly start quoting your favorite scenes, even if they have nothing to do with what you've been talking about. Every time I see the word 'intelligence,' I start quoting, 'Anyway, you need people of intelligence on the mission... quest... thing.' 'Well, that rules you out, Pip.' Then I'll start quoting the scene from the part: 'If by my life or death I can protect you, I will,' and then finish the scene. smilies/rolleyes.gif

That's true; the word for Valar in Sindarin is Belain (Balan singular). You are, however, failing to take into account the mutation caused by having the word "in" (the) in front of it. It causes the B to mutate to V.

LotR is way more educational than school, anyway!
Indeed.
In my theatre class, we have to read books out loud to practice voice stuff. (I can't remember the fancy name for it) Technically we're supposed to read a small book, (It's only supposed to take 3-5 minutes, but that's why I'm just reading the first bit of the book) but I decided to do The Hobbit, because it is a children's book. But then I saw Roverandom at the school library, checked it out, and decided to read the first part of that instead. Roverandom is a nice story! So, maybe not quite as obsessive as it could be, but still, it's Tolkien!
I think, 'Ai Eru' all the time! And reciting A Elbereth Gilthoniel is a good way to relax when you want to hurt some idiot badly.

*encouraged to continue with his obsession*
~When you have nearly convinced your parents to let you go to the showing of all of LotR, despite the fact that it's a school night and they thionk you'll get deep vein thrombosis from sitting down for 9 hours straight. You will be happy to stay up late on a school night- LotR is way more educational than school, anyway!
Hey! I did that once with Star Wars!(at home, that is) But I'm still here, still alive(or am I? Mwahahahahaha!) Maybe I'll wait for RotK and get another chance to have a clotted leg vein...But this country of mine sucks! No extended version, and they're not showing RotK 'til next year! Stupid Christmastime film festival...
*goes on to cry*
~ When you are reading an assigned book in class and you notice the word "Aragon" and immediately think it says "Aragorn".
Ever read the first Time article about the LotR movie? They said "Prince Aragon"! Why, the nerve of those uneducated...
Anyway, here is my addition:
You know you're obsessed with LotR when you convinve yourself that elves do exist, to the point that you think MI5 might be hiding them all in a warehouse or something. You plan to join MI5(after you graduate, that is) just to see them...

So, would someone tell me why it is that when I have a chance to post, there are only a few posts, but when I don't, you all have filled a whole page without me and moved on to another?!?!
Anyway, I seriously need to get caught up. This post will be a long one, I hope it's worth it.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
My LotR soundtracks/books/other accessories are precious, and NO one is to touch them...when I say NO one, I mean absolutely no one...
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Definitely! I'm turning into a right little Gollum where my books are concerned.
Me too! But then, I'm like that about all my books and stuff in general.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
When one of your long term goals in life is to read LotR once a year.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
My oh my..that's MY goal as well!!! Scary!
Yes, me too, and so far I'm doing well.... This year will be my fifth reading.
My friend got annoyed with me for learning Elvish because, "No one actually speaks it!" So I started learning Gaelic, because Elvish is based on Gaelic. (I'm still working on Elvish though.)
Lucky! I want to learn Gaelic!
Yeah, a lot of people seem to think that. Personally I think England, Ireland, Scotland, Australia, and New Zealand are much better. America really isn't as great as most people seem to think. (Not that I hate it or anything, I just like other places better.)
Very true. And I live in America! I feel so treacherous! Hahaha, treachery is fun! smilies/evil.gif
guy who be short - Great idea about the blue and yellow braces!
Good color coordination, but for anyone else who was thinking to try this, I would warn against it. Yellow starts looking brown by the end of the month- not very nice.
Today for social studies class, we had to come up with four qualities that we think the ideal person would possess. So naturally, I took a mixture of all the characters we know and love: loyalty for Sam; determination for Aragorn, and so on.
smilies/biggrin.gif
And can you believe that some people think I'm weird for wanting to live in England? (Or Ireland, or Australia, or...I won't annoy you with a list of all the places I want to go. It's a very long list.)
Or Scotland, or the Czech Republic, or....
Btw, sorry for quoting myself.
Not at all. I should try that sometime...
When you dance like Luthien whenever you have an excuse, ie, all the time. (Like in the living room, onstage at school, down the road...)

- When you come up with the perfect game for your school's Renaissance Festival, "Destroy the Ring." Basically, what it involves is, you find a riddle, and the answer to that riddle leads you to the next one, and so on and so forth, until you finally get to this little volcano where you drop the One Ring, and this cloud of smoke goes, "POOF!!!!" Meanwhile, these people in long black cloaks are chasing you around, and if they catch you with the One Ring, you get put in "jail" for 10 minutes.

you and a friend give endearing names to the actors you really like in LOTR eg beanie is sean bean, kelley is ian mckellen, morty is viggo mortensen and ChrisLee is...well, you can guess that one.
you then compile a quiz that consist of questions such as 'do you like tolkien?' 'do you like johnny depp?' do you like[insert above actors]?' etc and give it to everyone you know. when asked why they are doing it you tell them 'so we can decide if we like you'
'can't you do that by my personality?'
'NO'
if they get an answer wrong you give them a week to 'think over their mistake' and then give it to them again. you vow never to stop until everyone has answered every single question correctly

~I was stuck in a crowded train, leaning on the door. When the door opened, people kept pushing me outside the door. I thought to myself, "How I'd love to have my sword right now..."
~Then, I reached church, and this girl saw me Reading BoLT I, and said, "You know, that's just a fad, with the movie out..." A fad, huh! What I wouldn't give to have my sword... smilies/mad.gif smilies/mad.gif smilies/mad.gif
So, here's some more I thought of:
You know you're obsessed with LotR when...
~Instead of doing the Eowyn challenge, you do your own; Fingolfin challenge: March to Middle Earth.
~You get that irresistible urge to go to the public address system and say, "I see YOU!!!" or "I'm a Barrow-Downer..."
Wala lang!
