Gollum lost all his memory and this is what went through his head:

Why are we here? What'ssss our purpose in life?

Calm down, get a grip now... Oh! Thisss isss an interesting sensation, what issss it? It's a sort of ... yawning, tingling sensation in our...our...well we suppose we'd better start finding names for things if we want to make any headway in what for the sake of what we shall call an argument we shall call the crater, so lets call it our stomach.
Good. Oooh, it's getting quite strong. And hey, what about this whistling roaring sound what We're suddenly going to call our head? Perhaps we shall call that...wind! Is that a good name? It'll do... perhaps we can find a better name for it when we find out what it's for. It must be something very important because there certainly seems to be a hell of a lot of it. Now - have we built up any coherent picture of things yet?

Never mind, hey, this is really exciting, so much to find out about, so much to look forward to, we're quite dizzy with anticipation...

And wow! Hey! What's this thing suddenly coming towards usss very fast? Very very fast. So big and red and hot, it needs a big wide sounding name like la...lav...lava! That's it! That's a good name - lava!
I wonder if it will be friends with uss?
