I'm tempted to say Imrahil or Glorfinfel, but I think I'll probabily have to go with Beregond's son, his name is Bergil I think. *laughs at the irony* Ok now you're asking "how can he be my favourite character if I don't remember his name?". Well, I remember his character. He brought humour to a few situations without ruining the tension and was a superb companign for Pippin. I think he sort of showed how Pippin had grown since leaving The Shire. He also conveyed what I felt was the true spirit of most of the Gondorians: he was merry, but true at heart and wanted to help as much as he could. In a way I s'pose it reminded me of Merry's plight, he wanted to fight and was not allowed, this time because of his age though and not just his stature.

Difficult... Frodo is my absolute favorite character in LOTR. But he's the main character, so he doesn't count!!!
I am rather partial to Nob, myself! And Bob, of course... |

Bombadil was one of my favorite minor characters, because he just seemed to have an extremely jovial spirit in the most dangerous of times. His intervention at the barrow and giving the hobbits their blades was very influential in the defeat of the which king in ROTK.
my other favorite minor character was Gildor, he and his band of elves were very helpful in getting the hobbits to crickhollow, without his intervention, I beleive that the blackriders may have overtaken them and retrieved the ring before leaving the Shire. Beregond was cool as well! I always find myself fascinated with Grima because of the tragedy of his position, the explanation of which eludes at the moment.
But there's one character more than anyone else between these pages that I'd love to find out about: Goldberry. I can never make out what she really is, and where she comes from. But that's just a curiosity ![]()

I agree, I would love to find out more about Goldberry. She seems so magical. I also like the down-to-middle-earth character of Butterbur. Happy with the simple life.
I very much liked the charcter Firefoot as well (is that his name? The hasty young ent).

I agree, Goldberry was always an interesting character. I loved how Tom Bombadil had to work to get her to be his wife....it really keeps her away from that "maiden-in-distress" sort of theme.
