Unfortunately the Nome (have you never read Terry Pratchett Hookbill) was too small to be seen by the Hobbits and they stepped on him by accident.

Fortunately bats don't like to fly in the daylight and so nested in Aragorn's hair.

And Hookbill Pratchett is as good if not better than Douglas Adams.

Unfortunately, Aragorn's hair hadn't been washed in several weeks and smelled so bad that the bats flew off.
