Good job, Brinn!

But... Hookbill the Gamba?

Maybe the size of Germany and its Tolkien community is the reason why there are plenty of German-speaking forums? Reading a book in a foreign language is one thing, participating in a foreign-language online forum on a regular basis another, I guess.

Add me to the list, I suppose. Royal Oak or Traverse City, MI....depending on the weather, and whether I feel like shoveling snow; or, rather, more snow than I am currently shoveling. Did I mention there are only two seasons in Michigan: winter...and construction.

I used to live near TC. *waves*

And I must be the second to point out LMP's typo - unless he's decided to change his username to "nigglemanpoet" one letter at a time.

It's the same in Alaska too; but it's also known as winter ...and tourist season. Well, that's what it usually is. It remains to be seen whether we will have tourists this year.

Looking at the first list, I was quite surprised to see that there used to be two other BDer's in Anchorage. I wonder what became of them. I think TheGreatElvenWarrior and I need to do some recruiting. Thanks for adding me by the way.

By the way Brinniel, not to be bothersome but Laurinquë has a diaeresis above the 'e'. Very important.

This one

By the way, if Brinn doesn't want to update or do a new list, I'm tempted to do one myself.

No worries, I had been meaning to update but was distracted by WW. But hey, I was only three names behind.

It's all updated now, btw.

It is - I was daunted by a French Tolkien site despite having been nearly bilingual once upon a time . I have huge admiration for the non-native speakers here.

Oops on the spelling. I was trying to get rid of the capitalization and must've hit the wrong key.

Though I can't take credit for the Hookbill error; it got carried down from the earlier list.

But all fixed now, with Morthoron added.

Wow...I had no idea there were so many Oregonians on the Downs, and the names I spotted actually surprised me. I'm still mum on my specific location, though I live between Gwathagor and Pio Maeg or Sleepy Ranger might give you a hint if heavily bribed. I might too actually.

Meh, this post doesn't really belong here, but I don't know where else to put it and I don't want to start a new thread since it isn't exactly Tolkien related...

I'm just curious to see if anyone would happen to be interested in recording a narration for a school project I'm starting on. I'm editing a travel log about Cotswolds and the voice-over I was given happens to be an American woman with a really annoying voice. If there's any way I can avoid using that voice-over, I'd love to since it sort of makes me cringe to hear it. The reason I'm posting on the BD (rather than try to find someone locally) is because I'd love to have a narrator from the UK if at all possible, although if someone who's not from the UK is interested, please say so. Anyone with a clear speaking voice and a mic that doesn't hiss will do.

If you are interested, PM me.

Brinn--Not only the same state, but a similar area. I go to school in Salem, though when I'm home, I live a fair drive west of there.

I've actually been playing with the idea of maybe moving to Boston at some point after graduating from college in 2010. It has a great theater scene and I need to build my resume before I even think about moving to NYC. And I just like Boston. It's a cool city.

Thumbs up

In light of the recent Alaskamoot and after looking back a bit on this thread, I was lead to wonder what happened to Quicksilve_sprite and Hirilaelin--both of Anchorage. Was anyone very familiar with them before they left? We need to convince them to come back.

Any advice?

You can edit my location too and add the city Chania where I study now(just in case there is another greek around and wishes to contact me,although it seems quite impossible).

Hey Erendis, just noticed Chania is on Crete and my parents will be spending their holidays there this year in Rethymno.

Wondering if you have any tips on what particular things are worth doing/seeing whilst being there.
They would surely be interested in anything like historical sites/nice landscapes/traditional music or art etc.

I mean, I guess most of the better known things are already presented in tourist guides, but perhaps you have some insight into more "hidden" things that a regular tourist wouldn't discover and that are worth it.

Would very much appreciate your tips!

Ha! I know what you mean... I've tried multiple times to read the Lord of the Rings in Spanish or Catalan, but I always end up failing miserably...

Also, I've been living in Barcelona, Spain for the past two years. Sorry, Brinniel! And after all that hard work too.

Abercrombie! Nice to see you drop by. I haven't seen you in quite a while (not that I've been present for most of the past couple of years).

I must say, I am most amused by the obvious change in location for Mac and Eomer.

Oh, and a teeny weeny edit: symestreen should be written as symestreem. Great job with this, Brinn!

I too find this fact very strange... only three people living in Germany...

Either all Germans leave to foreign countries (like Mac ) or indeed the B-d does not get so many.

When I still was a member on the LotR Plaza there was quite a large German group there.

Anyway, I am amazed to have just read that Estelyn lives in Lippstadt! That's a bit more than one hour's drive from here... awesome!
Now we just need some more people from the region and we can organize a big B-d meeting!
