Correct, though arguably you should have said Melko.
This is the great pine tree of Shugborough Hall, which is convincingly (in my mind) described as the inspiration for the House of a Hundred Chimneys at Tavrobel in the Book of Lost Tales. The Great Pine of Tavrobel was in the garden of that house, and as soon as I saw this tree I was positive Tolkien was thinking of it when he wrote that.I've covered both the story and the connection - and shared this picture - in a previous thread if you want to know more. ![]() Over to you. hS |
