The Only Real Estel
12-24-2003, 10:16 AM
This is the 10th day for Faillivrin to post a new quote. If by Christmas he/she hasn't posted one, anyone can feel free to post their's smilies/smile.gif.

Failivrin
12-24-2003, 03:22 PM
whoopsy! i forgot about that..very sorry.

ummm...well seeing as i have put myself under such undue pressure, it'll have to be an easy one:

"Long has my father..."

Phervasaion
12-24-2003, 05:18 PM
It is Boromir at the counsil of Elrond

'Long has my father, steward of Gondor kept the forces of mordor at bay...'
or something like that

Failivrin
12-26-2003, 03:14 PM
you are right.

please continue Phervasion...

Phervasaion
12-27-2003, 06:21 AM
ok thanks.

Hobbits, four Hobbits...

Goldberry
12-27-2003, 09:52 AM
That was Barliman Butterbur talking about Frodo, Sam, Merry, and Pippin in the Prancing Pony.

Orual
12-27-2003, 07:28 PM
No, it was the gate-keeper at Bree.

Phervasaion
12-28-2003, 09:47 AM
Well done Orual tht was right. Your turn.

Orual
12-28-2003, 08:32 PM
Oh, boy! (laughs) I haven't played here in a long time...let me see.

"Never to return."

This might be a little tough...just tell me if you need a hint.

lothiriel
12-29-2003, 03:42 AM
smilies/biggrin.gif It's Frodo to Sam when they see the passing Wood-Elves in the Shire.

Orual
12-29-2003, 06:50 PM
Maybe not so tough? smilies/wink.gif

Bravo, Lothiriel! Go right ahead.

lothiriel
12-31-2003, 02:35 AM
Thanks!

That was just a detour,

Evisse the Blue
12-31-2003, 03:49 AM
"That was just a detour...a shortcut."
Merry to Sam after they tumble down while running from Farmer Maggot.

lothiriel
01-04-2004, 03:17 AM
Correct, Evisse! smilies/smile.gif

Evisse the Blue
01-04-2004, 06:00 AM
Thanks! Of course he does.

Thorongil
01-04-2004, 07:25 AM
Of course he does. He's a Baggins, not some blockhaded Bracegirdle from Hardbottle.
Bilbo to Gandalf about Frodo.

Evisse the Blue
01-04-2004, 12:34 PM
That's the one! smilies/smile.gif

Thorongil
01-04-2004, 12:37 PM
I guess I'll continue.
What's this?

Bilbo upon finding the One Ring in Gollum's cave.

Thorongil
01-04-2004, 12:43 PM
No. This is from the FOTR movie.

Lord of Angmar
01-04-2004, 12:51 PM
Bilbo finding the One Ring is in the prologue of the Fellowship of the Ring movie. But it does not seem to matter anyway, since that is not the one you are looking for.

Thorongil
01-04-2004, 12:54 PM
Sorry. I forgot that. But I am looking for something else.

Evisse the Blue
01-04-2004, 12:57 PM
Could it be Arwen?
"What's this, a ranger caught off his guard?"

Thorongil
01-04-2004, 03:00 PM
That's the one! Your turn.

Evisse the Blue
01-04-2004, 03:06 PM
That's nice

Lyta_Underhill
01-04-2004, 04:01 PM
That's nice
Pippin about mushrooms? smilies/biggrin.gif

Cheers,
Lyta

Evisse the Blue
01-04-2004, 04:44 PM
Pippin indeed - but not about mushrooms... smilies/biggrin.gif smilies/wink.gif

Pippin when Frodo stamps out the fire on Weathertop.

Evisse the Blue
01-04-2004, 06:44 PM
You got it! smilies/smile.gif

symestreem
01-04-2004, 08:05 PM
"Yes. It is time."

Faye Took
01-04-2004, 09:23 PM
Sounds a lot like Gandalf!

Sleepy Ranger
01-05-2004, 07:17 AM
But methinks its Bilbo

The Only Real Estel
01-05-2004, 09:50 AM
Is it Bilbo to Gandalf in Bag End ("...it is late, the road is long. Yes, it is time.)?

symestreem
01-06-2004, 03:07 PM
Both Sleepy Ranger and Estel are correct. Sleepy Ranger answered first, so go ahead.

The Only Real Estel
01-06-2004, 09:59 PM
Okay smilies/smile.gif.

(p.s. Sleepy Ranger, make sure you get the who to whom & where in smilies/smile.gif, since that's what makes it more difficult )

<font size=1 color=339966>[ 10:59 PM January 06, 2004: Message edited by: The Only Real Estel ]

01-08-2004, 06:14 AM
Right, I'll do that Estel. And my names Sleepy, Rangers the occupation.

They're coming.

Thorongil
01-08-2004, 06:36 AM
Gandalf reading from the book in Moria?

Sleepy Ranger
01-08-2004, 07:01 AM
Nope

Thorongil
01-08-2004, 12:18 PM
Aragorn in Bree, talking to Frodo about the Nazgul.

Sleepy Ranger
01-08-2004, 02:38 PM
Right on. Thorongil you may continue.

Thorongil
01-09-2004, 01:44 AM
Alright,
This is it.

Goldberry
01-09-2004, 05:45 PM
That'd be Sam to Frodo when they are on their way out of the Shire.

Thorongil
01-10-2004, 04:39 AM
Very good. Please continue.

Goldberry
01-10-2004, 09:06 AM
Alrighty then...here we go. If this was used more than once in the film, I apologize.

What things?

Fire-Galad
01-10-2004, 09:37 AM
Is it when Gandalf starts to suspect Bilbo's ring of being the Ring and he tells Frodo that he must see to some things and Frodo says,"What things?"

Fire-Galad

Ok, here I go.

the One Ring.
This might be confusing so I'll give a hint in this Post. This is not the start of a line.

The Only Real Estel
01-10-2004, 01:30 PM
Gandalf to Frodo in Bag End? ("This is the One Ring...")

Fire-Galad
01-10-2004, 01:51 PM
Nope that's not it try again.

Phervasaion
01-10-2004, 02:26 PM
Is it Elrond at the counsil?

'Frodo bring forth the one Ring'

The Saucepan Man
01-10-2004, 07:49 PM
Posted by me earlier in this thread:

I think that it is best to avoid one word quotes unless they are pretty much unique. Otherwise the question just leads to a long list of answers which, although correct, are not the exact quote which the question-setter had in mind, and the question then becomes a bit of a lottery.

That applies also to a quote like "the One Ring", which is likely to turn up fairly frequently in the film.

Please try to avoid quotes which are not unique in future.

Fire-Galad
01-11-2004, 10:41 AM
Sorry SPM. no that wasn't it. Next hint: the line is said in a scene after Rivendell.

symestreem
01-11-2004, 01:10 PM
Elrond- This is the One Ring. Taken from the hand of Sauron by Isildur himself...

I'm not even sure if Elrond says that line, actually, but I think he did.

Fire-Galad
01-11-2004, 02:57 PM
Nope, I'll give one more then you'll have to ask for one. Hint: it has an Elf in it, but it's not Elrond.

I just watched the Council of Elrond scene. No quote in it fits those criteria, so it must be in the Extended Edition.

Goldberry
01-11-2004, 05:49 PM
Well really you could give it to Estel, Phervasaion, or symestreem since this phrase was obviously used more than once in the film and you had only one of the times in mind. But since you are still looking for an answer, would it be Frodo to Galadriel in Caras Galadhon: "If you ask it of me, I will give you the One Ring."

Fire-Galad
01-12-2004, 06:34 PM
Yes that was it. Sorry it was the only thing I could think of. I'll do better next time.

Goldberry
01-12-2004, 07:02 PM
It's quite alright, Fire-Galad. smilies/smile.gif

Here's the next quote:

In a dream,

The Only Real Estel
01-12-2004, 07:57 PM
that's fine Fire-galad smilies/smile.gif.

Goldberry: was it Boromir to Aragorn in Lothlorien?

Sleepy Ranger
01-13-2004, 05:41 AM
Aragorn to Arwen in the bridge scene in Rivendell?

Phervasaion
01-13-2004, 12:17 PM
Did Boromir say it to The counsil at Rivendell. (in the EE).

The Only Real Estel
01-13-2004, 01:35 PM
Omg, I just now thought about my answer. What a horrible answer smilies/biggrin.gif. Anyways, to late now, I think that Phervasaion got it...

Goldberry
01-13-2004, 03:00 PM
Yes, Phervasaion got it. Carry on. smilies/smile.gif

Phervasaion

The Only Real Estel

p.s. although it is a unique word, lets try to stick to longer ones. Thanks smilies/smile.gif.

And, no it was neither Gandalf nor Elrond.

Elentarimir
01-26-2004, 02:01 PM
That'd be a translation of the Elvish that Arwen says to Aragorn in Rivendell. The translation is, I believe, "Long years have passed. You did not have the cares you carry now."

Hugo: Make sure to read my first post if you haven't already, that's the one that contains the rules. Since one of the rules is that only the person who correctly guessed the last quote can give a new quote, We're still guessing on Mithisilien's quote. Thanks!

Also, Mithisilien, when you get on, don't miss Sleep Beauty's guess on your quote a few posts up :).

The Only Real Estel

First off, this is once again strickly FotR movie quotes. If a new quote isn't given in roughly 10 days, anyone can give one to keep the game rolling (as the quotable quotes rules say). Lets try to keep these full & unbroken quotes, no elipses points, you can give a partial quote if it stands well by itself. The correct guesser will give the next quote to be anwered, once recognized by the giver of the quote. Hints can be asked for, but the giver of the quote isn't obligated give one if he/she thinks it is unneccesary or if he/she thinks that there hasn't been enough guesses to warrant a hint yet (or if he/she just wants to be mean & nasty). No quotes in Elvish, please.

Also, remember to post who said it, to whom and where.

paavo's quote was:
What about you?
I guess Frodo to Bilbo.

paavo
03-15-2004, 07:44 AM
Wrong! :D

The Only Real Estel
03-16-2004, 07:11 PM

paavo
03-17-2004, 10:12 AM

The Only Real Estel
03-17-2004, 01:34 PM
Thanks, paavo :).

How about:

"More than anything"

The Perky Ent
03-17-2004, 07:38 PM
Frodo to Sam? Isn't it where he says something like I thought you wanted to see the elves! More than anything!

The Only Real Estel
03-17-2004, 08:51 PM
That's the one, Perky Ent, go ahead...

p.s. remember to give who said it, to whom, & where they said it ;).

The Perky Ent
03-17-2004, 09:54 PM
Sorry, i didn't put where...so....that previous quote was in Rivendel! New quote of the bone

Thorongil
03-18-2004, 12:11 AM
That would be Gimli To Legolas in Moria about the hospitality of the Dwarwes.
Red meet of the bone

The Perky Ent
03-18-2004, 06:06 AM
Yes, that is correct! However, i always thought the quote was Ripe meat of the bone, but i'll give it to you!

Thorongil
03-18-2004, 06:39 AM
I'm pretty sure it's red...
Whatever. Next quote:

will be dead

paavo
03-18-2004, 08:24 AM
I will be dead before I see the ring in the hands of the elves!
Yes, I know that same quote was used recently but it was the right quote then so why not now? :)
Oh, and it is Gimli to nobody particular (or maybe to Legolas) in the counsil of Elrond.

Thorongil
03-19-2004, 12:02 AM
I didn't know it was used recently, but it is the correct quote. Your turn.

paavo
03-19-2004, 08:58 AM
thanks!
next quote:
feel fouler

Mad Baggins
03-19-2004, 04:40 PM
Frodo, to Merry (I believe), when Aragorn is leading them (and I quote) "into the Wild". ;)

Thankee, paavo.

Orcrist
03-21-2004, 09:24 PM
Frodo to Bilbo in Rivendell. I think the whole quote is "My own adventure turned out to be quite different."

Mad Baggins
03-22-2004, 08:13 PM
Yep, that's it!

Orcrist
03-22-2004, 08:32 PM
Okay, here it goes.

Quote: "One who has seen the Eye."

Lyta_Underhill
03-22-2004, 08:44 PM
Galadriel voiceover through Osanwe (think that's how you spell it) when she looks at Frodo upon their first meeting in Caras Galadhon..."welcome Frodo Baggins, one who has seen the Eye."

Cheers,
Lyta

Orcrist
03-22-2004, 08:54 PM

Lyta

Thorongil
03-23-2004, 01:32 AM

Mad Baggins
03-23-2004, 04:29 PM
"You've already had it." Spoken by Aragorn to Pippin, right before he gets one of Aragorns apple surprises. :smokin:

Thorongil
03-24-2004, 12:18 AM
Mad Baggins strikes again!

Mad Baggins
03-25-2004, 04:37 PM

paavo
03-26-2004, 02:26 PM

Mad Baggins
03-31-2004, 11:53 AM
"It is eleven o'clock in the morning, on October the 24th, if you want to know."

Close enough, paavo. Your go.

paavo
