Legate of Amon Lanc

I had a dream in which Fea shot Legate
An no one shed a tear. Typical.
It's unfair. Everyone is lucky in the dream: Lhuna gets married, the prince gets married, Fea shoots, and only I am the one who ends up being shot.
Lommy, your subconscious is unfair. :p

I was in a kitchen that looked suspiciously like Agan's kitchen. There was an identical kitchen next to it. I was in the first kitchen, Legate was in the second one. I did not have a cheese slicer but I needed one, so I went to Legate's kitchen to ask if he could borrow me one. I came back to my kitchen with the cheese slicer Legate had borrowed me and realised I didn't have cheese either, so I had to go back to Legate's kitchen and ask if he could borrow me some cheese as well.
*does not want to hear a freudian interpretation of this*
Hmm...
well, how about this for interpretation?
Well then, I guess I'll have to add...
I had a dream that Macalaure and I were going to cook something, but when we opened the oven, we found The Guy who be Short hiding inside. Then TGWBS turned into Rune...:p
That's actually the second dream I had involving Macalaure and cooking, oddly. The other was that we were in the kitchen of the house where I lived at 13, with my mother, cooking breakfast. I thought the eggs had gone bad, but Mac thought they weren't and wanted to cook them.
*REALLY does not want to hear an interpretation of this, Freudian or otherwise!*
Kitchen dreams now, what next? :p

Lhuna and Legate, you're practically begging me to elaborate on that dream. Well, Lhuna, your prince was a 30-40 year old man who looked like some far eastern politician (whose name I can't recall) and Legate, when Fea shot you, she just observed to me in a cool voice: "He was surprised to die."

Tonight I had a very vivid dream, it was very consistent (surprisingly) and I remember almost all of it (that's why it is so long. Sorry for that). It had in fact three parts; the first one did not have anything to do with the rest nor with the Downs, but the two other parts were connected and happened at the same place.
I was in Finland visiting in Lommy's family's house. But it was rather a cottage in the countryside, I could even draw you (more or less) the map of the village (as I said the dream was very vivid and I remember lot of it). The house was wooden and with wood everywhere, and it was very... cramped space inside :p The first part was only about realising that I am there. Also, from time to time, it seemed that my brother is there as well (and at that times neither Lommy nor anyone from the other people was around). Then someone, who I think was Lommy (not sure, that would be very interesting because it would be contradicting what I said above) showed us (i.e. me and by brother) that they have a workshop there and they have a quite big spider in there whom they know and cultivate and so on (only a simple spider who lived in a corner, but they "knew him" personally, you know what I mean).
Then there was a rather dirty sink with rusted pipe heading out of it. Now the other part of the dream comes. The spider was endangered by something all the time, like bigger animals, and we wanted to help him. So we found out that the water from the rusty pipe makes one grow if he drinks it. So we told the spider to drink, he did and grew in size a little. Then again something bigger endangered him, so he drinks once more and grows up to a size of a small bird. And so on, this repeated several times and the spider ultimately grew to be larger than me. Then he started to behave a little bit crazy and I was afraid he's going to eat us. Well it ended up with me running around the village with the spider on my back (literally) and I was afraid that by biting me, he's getting me poisoned and then I'm done (poisoning from a horse-sized spider, you know...).
Since we couldn't shrink him back, I was even starting to think of killing him (though I didn't feel quite well when thinking about it). [WARNING: The following content is quite brutal.] One of the possibilities was, when I saw some neighbour pulling out circular saw out of his garage and sawing wood, that I could throw the spider on the saw and... well yes, I felt quite sick when thinking about it, but I was desperate what to do with the spider, you could not talk to him or tame him (when he was this size already) or anything. Yet I chose that I cannot kill him this way and was still thinking how to get rid of him while not killing him. Then I got an idea at last: let him drink from that water once more and let him grow so big that the planets themselves are only tiny pebbles for him, thus, he won't harm anything. I was of course afraid if he puts his leg on the Earth, he could flatten us or the forests at least, but then I realised that he would be so big that his presence would not change the shape of the Earth at all (as if we were simply atoms which can be moved, but not changed by the spider. Maybe physically it is nonsense, but it worked like that in the dream). He would at maximum move the solar systems in the galaxy to different places (by stepping on them), but that was not a problem for us. So it was a happy end. Then there was a switch and I only thought: what is he going to eat? And then I remembered Ungoliant and thought: well, if he ends up eating himself, he'd be only happy at the moment. And who knows, that thing about Ungoliant eating herself is only a tale that is not accepted as necessarily true.
Then it was lunchtime and now it came that the part with the spider was obviously only an RPG I was playing with someone, because Lommy was upstairs all the time, studying (I don't know what), and I called to her window from outside the house: "Now was this RPG crazy enough for you, Lommy? Is that what you call getting carried off and letting things become silly in a RPG?" It was a rhetorical question (as you can see, this spider thing was crazy enough). But the lunch was ready and I had to go inside, because as a guest I didn't want to be late for lunch as that would be impolite. We were sitting around a small table in a small room where in one corner there were wooden spiral stairs up (right to my left from where I was sitting), then wooden door with one glass window in them in the left wall (from my POV), heading to the kitchen, and in the right wall there was door to the workshop. Lommy's mother was sitting there, and also Little Green who for some reason had pink stripes on her hair and (LG, I would like to say that the following is NOT originally my idea and I'd say I know whence it appeared in my dream) she was almost round in shape. Then Lommy's mum said: "Lommy just finished her exams. She did well in all of them!" And then Lommy entered and we were having the lunch which consisted of one potato with some sauce. ( :D ) I thought: "Is that supposed to be a celebration lunch of Lommy finishing her exams? Maybe this is just the beginning." But then, out of nowhere, my uncle appeared there and I realised he was in fact living in Finland for about a year, because he married a woman from Finland. All were talking in Finnish for a moment, and I didn't understand a word, and then we were all talking in English. Then I thought: "Well, if my uncle was able to learn to speak Finnish well enough to communicate with others after living here for only a year, then I should be able learn that as well." And then I woke up.

Well that was surely a weird dream, Legate. :D Even though as I have had dreams of eight-legged tortoises lately, I can't help wondering if the spider was meant to represent my tortoise... ;) But the part with Greenie having pink stripes in her hair was quite interesting...

Maybe, given that there was water involved, it may be so. But then also your tortoise would have to have tendency to eat people.

Maybe, given that there was water involved, it may be so.No - as he'a a tortoise, of a species that lives on land (in fact in very dry areas) and can't swim and hates going to bath, it definitely is no hint... :)
Whereas this: But then also your tortoise would have to have tendency to eat people looks quite sinister. For he does eat people. That is, if continuosly snapping/biting people's toes counts as trying to eat them. :D

Well now he eats peoples' toes, but imagine if he grew to the size of a horse... Just don't give him anything strange to drink. (And I should enlarge the list of things I should avoid from now: last time it was Fea, now your tortoise.)
I had a merry BD-dream. Several downers were going through Helsinki. I can't remember who all were around because for the duration of the whole dream I was late for school and couldn't really meet any of the downers. Although I do remember travelling a few metro stops with Brinniel and later sitting in a bus with Oddwen. The high point was when I invited Hookbill to stay for the night, it was 11PM, everybody else was sleeping and I was afraid that Hookbill would do some crazy thing to wake everybody up. However I was wrong, as soon as Hookbill found a table and a place to sit, he took out his giant folder from his bag and started writing

I'd probably left my trumpet at home. :D
Oh, but there wasn't a shortage of instruments in the room. Luckily you had not the slightest intention of playing the piano or the saxophone.
I noticed that you dislike being showed where everything is. You usually took a direction and I had to turn you some other way.

I recently had an unnerving dream...
Some news bulletin came up on the television saying that The Might was coming to visit England and it was some big event, as if he was some foreign official. I suspect this has something to do with his recent appearance in the Newspaper. I decided I had better go and say hello to him but then found that MI-5 thought I was going to assassinate him so I was arrested. Lalwende turned out to be working for 5 and helped me escape. Once out I went to The Might's hotel room and demanded to know what the hell was going on. He laughed and said it was a joke.

And I had a dream last night about Christmas...
Every year we go to my grandma's house on Christmas evening, and well we always get presents for everybody else. So my gramma had given me a bottle of bubbles (don't ask me why) and she said "This ones for you and this one is for Mithadan" and then I started wondering why I didn't get presents for Mithalwen or Folwren, and I was really confused. Then I needed to know their addresses and my mom started yelling at me because these people are online and you might get killed or something, I was really upset and then I went off and pouted...
Then my dream turned into some hospital dream with crazy guys and a guy who would not under any circumstances get off his horse...... but I need not tell about that dream!!!!!!!!!!!
and yes I did get one downer a Christmas present, but she also happens to be my friend from school (which wouldn't be on here unless I told her to check it out, in fact she probably would not have even finished LotR) I got her a boxed set of Lord of the Rings! Because previously she had borrowed them from our library.

I was in this online class of sorts on the English language (I think it was a creative writing course), and my prof, who looked a lot like my plant taxonomy prof but I have no idea why I know that, said that for our finals we had to chat with him over Yahoo! Messenger in English, and we had to keep up a good conversation or fail the course. When I found out about that, I thought, "Why did I get myself into this? Of course Fea will do very well in the finals - English is her native language!"

I does like mine English...
I dreamt last night, in the wee hours (okay, so it was definitely post-dawn, after my dog woke me up and I dozed back off), that I was part of a game. A game in which Lalwende was playing the role of one of two dragons that was supposed to be exterminating me into a pile o' ash. I don't know who the other dragon was, but he was even bigger than Lal-dragon was. I DO know that davem was supposed to be on my team (we held spray bottles filled with water, the goal being to spray the dragons without getting fried), but the irresponsible fellow was inside warming up a bottle for the lil one. In the end I managed to duck underneath a supernaturally large storage shed and spray Lal-dragon in the face when she ducked her head down to look for me. Ha, I win!
Then Lal transformed back into regular-Lal and we went inside for tea. In case you didn't know, Lal and dave, your house is set up thusly: from the outside, you can look through a big bay window into the kitchen, which has a sink on the far side and a stove on the wall perpendicular and to the right of the window. From the inside, however, that vision is proven to be totally wrong; the kitchen has yellow wall paper and is sunken a few steps into the floor. You enter through the kitchen (which is kind of dark and small), and go up steps into a dining room area. Through which you enter what was either a living room or a hall which does an interesting curving thing toward a bunch of bedrooms. The one on the right at the end of the hall belonged to the baby, who Lal showed me (v. cute), at which time I noticed that she was like five inches shorter than me (making her about 4'11"). I realized around this time that my brothers and grandfather were playing video games in the room at the end of the hall and briefly wondered how they got into Lal and dave's house...

I had this really weird dream a few nights past. In it, Nogrod, Lommy and I had some sudden obsession of inviting Legate to visit us. Noggie then called him and asked whether he wanted to come to Finland. Legate said that he didn't have the money, but when Noggie promised to pay his flight tickets he agreed to come. For some reason the flight from Prague to Helsinki was precisely 75 minutes. So, 75 minutes after Noggie's phone call Legate appeared on our doorstep. (Hmm, do I sense a flaw in the logic?)
Well, the next day we went to church. Legate wore a peculiar wine-red corduroy suit and a big, white, dirty-looking scarf. He didn't know how to sit in church so he kind of dangled between two benches. My choir sang a couple of songs in the church so I couldn't go and tell him how to sit. Lommy and Noggie had mysteriously disappeared.
After the church Lommy, I and Legate were eating something. I sat between Lommy and Legate. Legate tried to discuss with Lommy but he spoke so quietly that she had to lean over me to hear what he was saying.
PS. What on earth are all these "Legate comes to Finland" -dreams? Should I get worried?
Legate of Amon Lanc
01-07-2008, 11:04 AM
What do you mean, worried? I hope I am not to interpretate these words as aversion to my person :p ;) But anyway, hey, that was a good dream! Only I don't have any corduroy suits. I have one red jacket, but not a corduroy one. And I rarely wear scarfs. Otherwise, the dream was interestingly consistent and the situations that occured I can even imagine as possible when I am around. Well, maybe. But, is there really something like collective visionarism here? In that case... I could, of course, visit Finland, only... Noggins, please? :D

But I would not reply with just a simple "No" on the For../Unfor.. thread for that is one of my most favourite threads... Although I did write a response on that thread... Someone called me a guy... and I most certainly am Not a male, but rather a lovely female (who really isn't that pretty... but does maybe think that guy that is year older than her and she likes likes her back maybe just a little bit:confused:)... The night before last night, I had a dream in which Nogrod complained to me that "cattle-growing is nothing like it used to be: the farmers just follow their cattle by some computer program and go to see them maybe once a year. You know, with all these American BDers who are farmers... Last Christmas, I gave mormegil six camels, and it was just like that." What was even more funny, the camels were showed in the dream and they were pink and hairless like newborn pandas and some other mammals. Nogrod was otherwise, too, very odd in the dream for he complained about how warfare has changed too ("no one has a navy anymore, it's all just nuclear war") and tried to make me offer Gollum ice-cream (either chocolate&strawberry&vanilla ice-cream dipped in red wine or pear ice-cream dipped in liqueur - small wonder he didn't want to eat them).

I dreamed a dream two nights ago having to do with the Downs. I was veiwing my User CP and I noticed I had three new reps - two positions and one negative. They were all three on the same post, one of my recent posts on the 'Pullman rips LotR and other' thread. My two positive reps were from Lalwende and from I think Child of the 7th Age. The negative one came from Hookbill the Goomba, oddly. I puzzled over the reps for a while, wondering why Lal gave me a positive rep, and why Hookbill gave me a negative one, before finally shrugging it away and leaving.
And that's all, I believe.

Today I had a dream that involved LOTS of Downers, and it was not even that they were some unrecognizable mass, but there were many individuals. Of course, I remember only very little from it. The interesting thing was a total unity of place: all the story took place in a city, which was (technically, as I "knew" in the dream) Moscow, but all happened around a place which was in fact Rockefeller's center (I never was there, only saw it on TV, but it was it) and also in passages and shops around. Just a little part of it happened in "virtual space", i.e. suddenly on the Downs. Otherwise, there was no unity in the flow of events, or maybe there was, but I don't remember. Another thing you should know is that all the time, there was some sort of live Werewolf-like game going on, but it was not normal WW, but a Star Wars game. We were in a system controlled by the Rebellion, but some were agents of the Galactic Empire and we did not know who, and their goal was to sway the system to the Empire's cause. We could ask for help from other stellar systems, and I managed to get contact with the Wookiee homeworld of Kashyyyk, which I was proud of, but some nasty Cobbler was faster and the dream ended by a huge flight of Imperial cruisers appearing in the skies. Now, I'm posting the episodes I remember in the probable order as they followed:
Rune went to some shop and bought lots of bottles of alcohol, I think vodka probably or things like that. At that moment, I was aware that Rune is underage and that he's probably going to have trouble with the teachers who organised this schooltrip we all were on if they learn that. (This idea of all being just a schooltrip was probably true only here, not in the other moments.) I must say, what is it I have with Rune and shopping?
The Downs were in some state of reconstruction. Consequently, the page looked strange (it was a pale shade of green) and most of the topics just disappeared, but many of the topicsin Haudh-en-Ndegin were open to post. Lalwendë posted to several of them before they closed it again.
Some mafioso wanted to hire me to work for the Empire. We met in a Chinese restaurant. I said "I will think about it" but they recognised I am just bluffing to get away, so they hired SpM instead, who was a nasty opportunist and accepted. SpM was a young blonde disgusting teenager, something like Anakin Skywalker in Episode II.
There were some bushes copying the borders of the square and there was a computer panel inside them. Aganzir kept logging in it to change her avvie, profile, options and who knows what else.
The Downs had a sub-forum with these primitive games in the style of Tetris, and Downers were creating their own games and posting them there or playing the ones that someone else posted. Gil-Galad who was in fact also Thenamir greeted me there when I logged in and completed a game "two-pixeled Uglúk chases black dots and shoots them" and he wanted me to stay there and contribute more.
It was Aganzir's nameday and I thought I should give her some present, but I could not make any and I spent long time going around the shops surrounding the central square, and I ended up giving her a flower. A yellow one, if I remember correctly.
Then there was some dancing on the central square. You have now to understand that I plain dislike dancing, at least in front of other people and the more on these global actions. Aganzir and two of her friends from their gang of four were dancing there something that looked like some celtic dance. Lots of people were standing around and just watching, for which I was grateful. I came to Lommy who was also standing there and I said: "Well, Lommy, I wanted to tell you that..." But she interrupted me: "That you wanted to dance! Yes, let's go!" I was quite depressed and I left.
That was about it. There were many other things that happened and other Downers who appeared there, for example I am sure that Nogrod, Esty, Hookbill (and Han Solo) were there, but I don't remember anything about their actions or events that involved them.

Actually, I think the friend has said several times that she'd like to learn this celtic dance I'm not too familiar with. So not very far from the truth. ;) But I could never imagine the other one dancing, and definately not in public- and I don't think I would do that either although I admit I can be provoked.
Surely you don't happen to remember what they looked like?
And feel free to send me a flower on July 2. :D

Haha, Legate, that was a funny one. But as far as I know, neither I nor any of my friends are into celtic dances... even though who knows if they were actually fun.
I believe the three of them were the only ones who performed celtic dances, the others were dancing something "normal" (as even you wanted, the way I understood it). I believe they did the celtic dances because they wanted to make fun and stick out of the crowd.
Surely you don't happen to remember what they looked like?
Not sure. They did not look like anything out of the ordinary, I can say that much (I mean, they were not punks or anything like that). I believe they both had some long dresses in bright colors.
Surely And feel free to send me a flower on July 2.
Noting down :) Only I'm afraid it would reach you seriously damaged. Unless I used the recipe provided by Pink Floyd in the live/movie version of Empty Spaces: "...send flowers by phone...".
But all in all, yes, it was a very funny dream, but only after I woke up - as long as I was "inside" it seemed normal, serious, even frustrating to me (that was the last part :) - and precisely the one seemed the funniest to me later). Well it goes like that with most dreams.

I had a dream Groin Redbeard posted in the Ones to marry -thread. And what did he post? A list:
1. Thinlómien
2. Shastanis Althreduin
3. Legate of Amon Lanc
4. someone I don't remember, possibly Naria
I wondered if he hadn't realised the thread was about which Lotr character, not a Downer, one would like to marry. But instead of clarifying it to him, I posted just "Keep your hands off my Lommy!" (And yes, even in the dream I thought my post was merely a joke.)

Aganzir, I would recommend a Freudian interpretation of your dream, had I not been afraid that such a thing may spread and who knows what would come out of my dreams had they been analysed...
Anyway, today I had a dream just briefly involving the Downs, where Gwathagor complained that someone had a Location in his profile that really seemed to describe some place, while he said: "I always thought that most people simply ramble in the Locations, while the place where they actually live, or a metaphore for it, or any other poetic expression of the place they are living in is usually expressed only in their signature."

I had a rather odd dream.
In it, Volo's current ww game was actually modded by Groin Redbeard (who looked like his avvie but was glowing the same shade of green that there is in Gwathagor's avatar), and he was really dumbing it all down (so sorry, Groin :D). Instead of doing a normal game, he did an odd sort of a RL game that was held in the basement of my grandparents' house. (In fact, there is no such basement in the house as there was in the dream, but that's a detail.) Groin had a very odd idea about wwing: as a mod, he told us players to shout as much and as loud as we can. I remember THE Ka and Roa were screaming really loud and thanks to all the noise, the roof of the basement started to collapse. I fled, but I don't know what happened to the others. I just know that there was an incredulous expression in Groin's face when the roof fell.
Anyway, I found myself in my grandparents' living room. They were dining and they had a lot of guests. Most of them were my relatives or some friends of my grandparents'. However, one of them was Legate and he was sitting with Nogrod and my grandparents (not his parents though, they were my mother's parents). I went to sit with my sister and a guy that was supposed to be some cousin of mine and started telling them about what had happened in the basement. It was quite quiet in the room, so pretty much everyone was listening to what I said, before Legate interrupted me and started preaching about his communist ideals in a loud voice. I remember I was really annoyed with him.
Now, I must say, that was a crazy dream. And even though I can guess where some parts of it came from, some other parts (like that communist stuff) really leave me clueless of their origins...

Well concerning that I am thirteen years old and I probably live in a State that there is no other Downer except Laurinque(thats only because I made her) and well I've never had a boy friend before (and the boy I happen to like right now that is not a fictional character named Samwise or Peregrin, has a girlfriend)... I actually had my second Barrowdowns Dream in 6 (count 'em years) of membership here.
I was going to visit mark12_30 and her family at her home in Germany. She doens't really live in Germany, but on the Atlantic seaboard. Anyway, the dream had her at a Cul-de-sac (Bag End, that is ;) ) on a hilltop in Germany, living in a 2-story chalęt type house, with a beautiful expansive backyard that actually closely resembled the picture of her actual backyard that she posted online sometime back. I remember seeing it on a 3-dimensional map but never getting there. Oh well.

Well, I had a very strange dream last night, probably the strangest I have ever had, or can remember. I dreamed I was looking for hobbits as they had become an endangered species and I had door mouse as my guide who could creep down holes where I could not as apparently hobbits had diminished in size to about 15 cm high. We found evidence of them being there but none were to be seen, so we looked in this larger hole that was all covered in spider webs. The door mouse had severe misgivings about this but I made us go in. So when we got it the place turned into this boardwalk in a swamp and the whole thing was covered in sticky webs, and then we knew (for some reason) that it was Shelob's lair and we were trying to get out, but we found the exit had turned into the Barrow Downs (like in FOTR) and Bill the pony was there too. Anyway, this really, really creepy wight would not let us pass saying"you shall not pass" and I would say he looked for some reason like The Might. No offense to the Might.
It was soo weird....there was more but it did not have anything to do with BD.
Ooh I actually had a 'Downs dream the other night. It was part of a longer dream that was completely random and nothing to do with this place but for some reason I was driving a lorry and suddenly I could see through this window. Laurinque was in there and she was having an argument with Lommy because Lommy had said that she was the oldest werewolf player in the game they were currently in, but Laurinque (who was about 50 and had black hair) was saying she was the oldest player.
Then Mith jumped through the window (I say jumped, she mostly just appeared out of nowhere but it looked like she'd jumped from the street into the room) and tried to explain that Lommy was actually the person who had been playing the games longest and that's what she meant by oldest and that Laurinque was the oldest age wise and that's what she meant. But they weren't having any of it and promptly lynched her.
Definitely inspired by Volo's game I think, though I don't know where I got that image of Laurinque from!

Kath, that was a very silly dream. :D
I had some weird ones as well during the weekend.
In one, A Little Green and Aganzir somehow hacked my BD account. They changed my username to Hanni (which is my RL name) and my avatar to a previous avatar of Isabellkya's (the photo of a woman with red frames). They also changed my birth date to November 15th 1996 and my location to "New York". They changed other things as well, but I don't remember what did they exactly do. I just remember I was angry at them. But I think I might have been a little amused as well... :D
I think it was in a part of that dream that The Might and Legate of Amon Lanc played the guitar in a bus. Nogrod was with them and he was very sad because he couldn't play his piano, because he obviously had been unable to take it to the bus with him.
I also had a dream in which there was some kind of work camp for BDers in Oulu (which is a city in Northern Finland). I think they were constructing some big building or something. There were lots of BDers working in there, but the only ones who I can recall being there for certain were Meneltarmacil, Rune Son of Bjarne and Volo. I tried to call Volo in order to ask more about the work camp but he had switched off his mobile phone.

But I'm not sure if that was somekind of foresight-dream as I have thought lately that it would be great if I had enough money to buy a decent keyboard or a cheap clavier just to learn more of it. I thought about it yesterday the last time. So my daughter is a psychic as well?

I had this dream months ago - just thought I'd post it now because, well, I think it's kind of cool:
There was an evil scientist who lived and worked in a huge building (which looked very much like the University of Bielefeld); and my two older daughters and I were charged with the mission of destroying some diabolical project he was working on. Although we never saw him, I pictured him as Dr. Evil from Austin Powers. So we broke into the ...University...at night, and found it was patrolled by giant talking Rottweilers (the size of elephants.)
The girls...who had turned into Lommy and Brinniel...escaped out the window, but I fell down the stairs into the basement. I then ran up another stairway and found myself in a series of what looked like high school gymnasiums, where people were playing soccer..er, football...in the dark. I ran through the midst of them, and after going through three such rooms, I came to the fourth which was much more crowded and appeared to have a rock concert going on, complete with mosh pit and crowd surfing.
I ran back out through the same door, but suddenly the lights were on and my Art History prof from last semester was standing there. She was very angry with me for some reason, and forbade me to class the next day (probably because my mission failed...)

I had a really, REALLY, bizarre dream last night.
It was really long and weird, but one bit was to do with the Downs.
A friend and I were running away from some crazy person and we went to the train station in Parbold. The road barriers came down and we looked to see which direction the train was coming from. But no train came. What did come was a small silver car-like thing being driven by Nogrod. Every so often it sent up small fireworks. We were worried that this would attract the attention of the crazy person. But when my friend asked about the car thing, I just said, "Oh, don't worry, it's just someone from the Barrow Downs." and that was that.
I think I need a lie down.

Did the crazy person ever catch you?;)
No, but there was an interesting scene where we were on a train and the crazy person was banging on the window trying to get in. But then some bank managers came along and sorted it all out... Yes.

Well I must admit I'd like to try "a small silver car-like thing". It would be cool indeed!
And sending fireworks as it goes?
(even if I'm opposed to cars in principle - at least when it comes to people like me who do live in a city and not in a suburbian nightmare).
But no train came.
.....

But then some bank managers came along and sorted it all out...So there was the train in the end... Well that's normal. But bank managers as the heroes of your dream saving you and your friend? Ever thought of trying the couch or getting rid of your loan a.s.a.p.? :D
My conscience came haunting me.
I had a dream in which I got a half-worried half-nasty sms from Aganzir, saying that Leggie and Noggie were writing narrations for my WW. Some other players too, such as Ka, wanted to write their death narrations themselves. (And I know that Lommy would also join them.)
After that I got a postive rep from morm for this (http://forum.barrowdowns.com/showpost.php?p=543710&postcount=142). He told me that my narrations in this game are slightly better than in the first game I modded, but that getting 21 from a 20-sided die is physically impossible. I think he even added a link to some website where it was explained.
Don't forget the narrations, but don't worry either. I'll bring it to a more suitable finish when I find the time which is soon. The feel of the game might be already dissolved, but I have some crazy ideas which I want to use.

Thank you! :) I like them too and it's not a matter of that. It's just that there is too much stuff going on and though I'd like to write narrations, I have to get other stuff done first.

I forgot to mention that during my last WW game, when I became a wolf, I had many WW dreams. It was driving me nuts because I wanted to get on here and post that I had dreams of WW in general and of me being a WW but I couldn't. Now that's it's been so long I cannot remember the details but needless to say I didn't sleep very well.

I clearly need a sort of witness protection programme to save me from the Downers' collective unconscious.... Look at the bright side of it, the collective unconscious might be turned into collective conscious and we won't need the forum to discuss things anymore. Wouldn't it be cool if you could just switch to BD-mode anywhere and play WW. Sure would make Swedish lessons more interesting.

Having quickly searched the thread for refs to me.. I retract ..I really just need to be protected from Lommie's subconscious. :D She has had me attacked by a multitude of suicide bombers, dying (alongside Boromir88), and metamorphosing from David Beckham.
Yours was sweet ..I don't need to be protected from you :D
I had a long dream with a Downs theme going on, but it was mostly just some Downer being around.
First I tried to get people who I mostly didn't know to join the Downs. So we went to a library where we could find computers and entered the Downs which turned out to be a small village-like place. Every new member got a PM from Hookbill with some general welcome talk, a picture of a dragon and The latest Downer. One of the new members, a guy I went to confirmation camp with, got very excited about The Downer as there was a long red snake-like cord in the picture. He pulled the cord out and tried to strangle me.
While the guy was messing around with the cord I noticed that Mith had a new title. I went the Title-thread and saw that somebody had posted that it's even wierder than Volo's, in a positive sense. I agreed. Then I somehow I found myself at home. "Mith got a great new PT!" I told my mum. She looked at me suspiciously and was about to say something, when I said, "Oh, right. You don't know anything about that..." She shrugged, sighed and went off to do whatever she was doing.
I was back at the Downs village with my three-year-old brother. We walked to a wooden table, where Hookbill sat. My brother had something to ask so he asked, in Finnish. Hookbill was confused and said something in English to which my brother answered again in Finnish. He was obviously playing, because he could understand what Hookbill was saying and could just as well answer in English but didn't. Soon Hookbill got annoyed and pulled my brother away from the table.
Later in the dream there was a sruggle of some kind - I still don't know why - between two big concrete buildings.

I had a confusing dream yesterday, where the Downers could give things to each other through the monitor. You simply reached your hand and whatever you put inside your monitor was accessible for everyone. I remember when there were more people posting (it was more like a chat) on one thread, Roa offered them coffee she had at home. So people could take a cup and place it inside the monitor (while still holding it), and then from the top of the monitor Roa's hand with a pot of coffee appeared and filled the cup. Then I remember several Downers, including Hookbill and Volo, started to exchange some medicaments this way, because some of them were ill. And that's all I remember.

Had an odd BD dream last night. As a rule, I tend to be a private person, and it took me a while to post pictures of the family (now, clearly I'm over that). Anyway, so in last night's dream I was reading the Barrow Downs and came across a post that stated:
The true identity of alatar is in fact Mr. ____ ____!
There it was. My name centered across the page! Privacy invaded! Honey! Kids! Start packing...we need to leave now!
Okay, so I've been watching too much Terminator.
My first thought was to wonder who had posted the information, and how s/he had obtained it, and considered if any old nemesis had recently joined the Downs. Then onto offense; how to get the post removed, figure out how many persons viewed it and how to start an obfuscation campaign that would make anyone's brain hurt should s/he even ponder what my name was.
Guess as I woke up that little corner of humility that I have yet to expunge kicked in and said, "alatar, who would in reality really care?" ;)

Discontinuation symptoms? :p
I have had a quite long Downs-related dream yesterday. It consisted of several parts, but I am posting only the two funnier parts of it.
First, in the dream Groin Redbeard played Paper Telephone and when it was his turn to write, the silly Dwarf posted on the thread: "My picture was so funny, I wanted to describe it all, but that would've been too long, so I wrote just: (he quoted his sentence) and I didn't mention (he wrote about all the things that have been on the picture and were not included in his sentence)." I was thinking "oh, my" and started to write a post, explaining him that PT is about surprise and that he is not supposed to tell us what he was writing or drawing.
Then, Farael's WW "Mist in the Barrow-Downs" game started, but it continued still on the same thread. Farael posted the beginning narration, which was only about six lines long and most of it was something like: "You have the escribed circle around a square. The circle's radius is 3 cm. You also have an equation y=5x/7. Tell me the y if you know x is the length of the side of the square." The game started and I started to write a new post, in which I was making the calculations. It took me about an hour. At last I finished, submitted the post, and saw that I cross-posted with all the players (though my post was third in the line from the top; there were posts after me that had already written inside them "x-ed with Legate"). I remember Aganzir's and Ka's (who was also playing) posts were right after mine, and they both had different results of the equation (different from me and different from each other). And Aganzir wrote "EDIT: mine is wrong" and Ka wrote a post explaining to me in a very subtle way that I have it wrong as well. :p

I wonder what it is that everybody (ie. me, Lommy, you at least) dream that Groin doesn't really know how certain games (or threads) work. :D

In one dream, there was a WW game running and sally and I were fellow wolves. However, sally had gone missing. No one knew about her and everybody was pretty worried. Someone posted on The Barrow-Downs forum a thread, asking where she was. The dream ended before I got to know what had happened to her.
In another dream, it was summer and I was wandering around Helsinki. Suddenly I bumped into Rune. He was wearing a Marx mask made of card-board and he was drinking some disgusting-looking mix of beer and coke. He didn't recognise me and went to some bar, and I didn't greet him either. Later in the dream, I told Lommy that I had seen him. She wasn't interested.
Then there was one dream in which I was talking with Ka. I don't remember anymore what we spoke about, but she was very enthusiastic about the subject.
Last night I had a dream I was in a grocery with a friend. The shopkeeper asked my friend if she'd like to come and work there. "We need more cashiers so that Groin Redbeard doesn't always have to take the worst shifts," he said. Poor Groin! we thought, do they force him to do all the night shifts?

I was about to complain that I didn't have any interesting BD dream for a long time, and tonight it came. I had a dream that there was a presidental election at the Downs, and in the end there were three possible candidates: Nerwen, Aganzir and Lommy. When thinking about my vote, I presumed that Nerwen is not going to get enough support from others, so voting her would have been a waste of vote. I decided to vote for Lommy.
I may also add that the voting process was somewhat nontypical: the candidates did not have any speeches or presentations or anything like that, instead, if a voter chose to vote for someone, there was time reserved for every candidate when she was sitting alone in what was in fact a class room in the high school I used to attend, and each voter could come in and tell the candidate why they decided to vote her.

I had an odd dream and it featured some 'downers, unfortunately I can't remember whom. Volo was there certainly, though: I was travelling with him in some odd country and he did some crime and was sentenced to receive ten lashes. He was terribly afraid of it and all I could think of saying to comfort him was: "You don't die of it." (Might tell something of my presumed social skills... ;)) Then for the rest of dream I wandered around the weird country, trying to find Volo a lawyer and he followed me wailing and walking like a zombie and not being of any assistance at all.
Maybe I'm a bit sadistic, but now afterwards that dream actually amuses me... :D

I might have had a dream in which DWII had already started and I hadn't signed in. Aganzir was modding it and Day3 was going on. I had a COOL dream the other night...
My brother and I were in his car and driving along the motorway going home. We noticed that all the cars were driving quite fast and people were screaming. Looking out of the back window I saw, far away in the distance, a HUGE Dragon curled up and sleeping. My brother drove faster and we got to the top of Parbold Hill (the hill near my house). We saw that the Dragon was now moving and wandering aimlessly around the countryside.
When we got home Legate and Rune were in the kitchen and pulling lots of tea-pots out of the dishwasher and laughing.
"Don't you know there's a Dragon out there?" I asked, and Rune started crying.
Then Lommy ran into my house and locked the door.
"It's heading for the zoo!" she cried, "We need to save the Penguins! It's after them!" But as I looked out of the window I saw the Dragon's foot step through my neighbour's house. The Dragon looked rather bemused and began shuffling forward. So we all hid under the table. Like you do.
The Dragon destroyed half of my house and then wandered on. Legate complained that all the tea pots were now broken. Rune wore a horned helmet and was very angry about it. Lommy was still trying to get us to go to the zoo but no one seemed to care that I now had only half a house. :D

I saw a WW dream once again. Day1 started and for some reason Nerwen and I each lost one because we were attacked. It was obviously so that players would die only after the second attack, but the Wolves could attack twice a Night. I wanted to say something to the mod, but I wasn't sure who it was. Funnily enough, I don't remember which women were present or even who the RL friend was. I just remember Lommy being there because I remember thinking, oh, she's grown up a lot since she had that photo taken (the one on the photo page).

If you'd been lucid dreaming then you could have trapped the dragon in the quicksands north of Southport Pier if he was that big he was stomping all over Lancashire!
Did you know West Lancs is one of the places rumoured to be Arthur's resting place and the Douglas is a magical river which runs out of Martin Mere which was supposed to be where the lady of the lake lived? Therefore Lancelot is a Lancastrian ;) - and aren't there links from Lancelot to Dragons?

Some nights ago I had a dream Legate, Lommy and I were talking in the MSN. Legate said he and Might were going to run a LARP because his roleplaying group was very interested in trying it. He told us some words he had invented himself in order to use them in the game, and asked our opinions on them. The only one I remember was Gustavbirch. "It's a tree that attacks passers-by," he explained. Lommy and I thought it sounded like some boring Swedish king.
Last night I dreamed Nerwen posted a picture of herself on the photo page. She looked quite like I had been imagining she would - she was pretty, rather tall and skinny and had long, light brown hair and a narrow face. She was wearing a black shirt and jeans. I don't remember exactly how old she looked like - about 20 or something, maybe a bit more, maybe less.

I was walking around in town late at night when my mobile phone started ringing. I checked who it was and it said "Gwath calls". Well I took the call, but he just babbled something in Czech language so quite obviously I didn't understand it at all. Jste... zajimavy.
Then again, the subconscious is a wonderful, but strange place.
Speaking of dreams, I had a short little one the first day of Aganzir's WW game, but it really has nothing in relation unless Lommy's infinite insight can make anything of it.
Anyways, as the dream goes I woke up in the morning, readied my things, etc then went out into the kitchen to have a nice cup of kava. When I wasn't half-awake and finally turned around a random Downer was sitting at the counter eating popcorn. They were male, had blonde hair, and he wasn't very tall, but not short. It was kindof odd, because they didn't say anything, and the only sound was him munching on popcorn.
Then Nogrod popped into the dream, said hi, then went through the fridge and found some beer and sat next to the other fellow, but didn't say anything to him throughout the rest of the dream.
I decided to finally have breakfast, but for some odd reason decided to ask the blonde man if I could have some popcorn (though, really, who eats popcorn for breakfast?), he looked offended and hugged the bowl to himself and said,
"Pfft, no! Make your own! This is my bowl."
The dream ended there, but I was more confused that he was claiming the bowl and the popcorn from my pantry as his own and was so offended.

I had a very odd dream last night. It came to me rather clearly when I woke up...but now I admit it's a little vague. But I'll do my best and write this before I forget anymore.
I dreamt that Gwathagor announced on a thread that he was in fact not human at all, but a machine (a very advanced robot...probably something like the ones from the Terminator films). The thing was he was so advanced a machine that he wanted to become human and was in the process of doing so. Except that in his most recent surgery there were some complications and some of his machine parts crashed. Gwath was alright, but a bit worried which is why he posted this announcement on the BD. The reactions of others are a bit vague, though I do remember everyone was surprised that a machine was advanced enough to participate in a Tolkien discussion and play WW. Of course, we all wished him well. A few days later, Esty announced on the thread that Gwath successfully had a multi-organ implant and was recovering and surely on his way to becoming human.
Yeah...I told you it was a weird dream. Usually my BD dreams are dull and hardly worth mentioning. For example, I had a dream a few weeks ago that I was on a bus with several of my classmates and Lommy was randomly there. I kept thinking to myself, "This is cool...but what exactly is she doing here?"

Why thank you. All a result of a continous lack of sleep and being busy. The only thing I can deduce from the whole thing is that my subconscious wants a dinner party, in the morning, with random Downers and popcorn.

Here's a post I posted on this thread on some of the alternate 'downs versions some days ago:
Ok, I have had a couple of BD dreams lately...
Sometime last week:
- Elizabeth Taylor had made a petition for Tolkien (don't know why) and Mith, Lalaith and Lalwendë had signed it.
- Sauce and Sauron the White met Peter Jackson in the Helsinki-Vantaa airport. Or it was more like StW meeting him and Sauce overseeing the meeting...
The night before last night:
- I had a couple of them but it seems I've forgotten. :( I have to ask Agan if she remembers because I think I told her.
- The only one I remember was that Legate had posted his admin thread and one person (possibly THE Ka?) had replied to it. And when I came to 'downs for the first time after that, guess which thread had been opened and how many people had posted on it...
Last night:
Okay, this is quite psychotic. The dream started with me being on the 'downs. I was playing in a ww game. There was only a couple of players, so there was only one werewolf, and of course I had the bad luck of being the wolf. I had a kill on Night1 and killed Brinniel. We lynched Menel on Day1 but I was suspected quite a lot too, especially by Nogrod. Then came Night2. I decided I'd kill Nogrod, because then people would not think I'm the wolf, because generally I would let Nogrod live in a village consisting of mostly quite players (there was at least Greenie and Shasta and probably one or two other people). The Day and Night phases only lasted two hours and it was the Night when I was thinking about killing Nogrod.
Suddenly I realised I had two unread private messages. One was from Mith and the other from Nerwen. Nerwen's message was odd. She said she had considered starting some odd mirth thread and asked if I wanted to help. I replied: "Yes, I can do the names of the songs in the soundtrack." So I devised 15+ new age -ish names with a Tolkienesque echo. There were songs called Arien's Journey and Golden Goodbye at least. One disco song was called High-Elven High and for some reason I wanted to name the remix of the same song Hyper-Elven Hyper.
When thinking about these songs I was drawn into real ME. I think I was in the fords of Isen and there were dead Orcs around. But suddenly I was in Barad-dűr with Sauron, Witch-King and Gandalf. I was doing a survey on health products and Sauron and Gandalf had opposing views: I think Sauron was representing some big company that fools its clients. Anyway, the four of us were going up the stairs and somehow this was part of the plot of LotR and I knew it very well, but I was afraid for Gandalf nevertheless. (Not for myself because I was, in a way, not there.) Also, I kept thinking that Tolkien made a huge mistake when he made Gandalf be afraid of the W-K.
However, when we had ascended to the top, I was suddenly Théoden and entered Sauron's office. He was really scary and I could barely speak. I knew he was my enemy but I could but show him allegiance and bow down, I was so mortally afraid. Suddenly he was Vladimir Putin. He asked me if I wanted to be the foreign minister. I was really surprised and could not say anything. Then he just smiled at me (it was the sort of tolerant smile you smile to slow-witted children) and I agreed and climbed over his desk to his side and started reading a newspaper that had Medvedev (did I spell it right?) and Angela Merkel on the front page.
:D Go analyse that...
edit: I just realised I have most posts on this thread... should I be surprised...?

A few nights ago I had a dream Brinn posted she's going to meet Groin Redbeard now that she's in Europe. I wondered why Groin should travel to Europe just to meet Brinn - surely it would have been much easier to wait for her to come back to the States.
The second dream isn't actually mine but my non-Downer friend's, who said I could post it if I wished.
She told me she had had this dream in which she & I were at school. She asked me to look after her bag for a while when she went somewhere. When she came back to me, her bag wasn't to be seen and I was smirking.
"Where's my bag?" she asked.
"I don't know," I said.
"Tell me now. What have you done with it?"
"I have hidden it."
"Really, this isn't funny. Where is it?"
"Well... I called Hookbill and he told me to put it in the fridge."
She was angry with me and Hookbill and thought he was annoying.

Hee hee, yes, the complusive and random in-character posts... Afterwards, I am usually sure that I'll end up killed by admin priviledge or something similar for being annoying.
I actually miss doing that, and now I'm kicking myself for not signing up for Legate's game.
It looks very interesting, but I have far too much university applications right now and I had the 'plague' when the game was being decided.
I thought it best that I didn't say anything about joining because I had taken flu meds, and probably would have *conveniently* forgotten all of anything to with deadlines and school.
So, I'll just be reading this time.

I had a Barrow Dream last night...
At my university there was some commotion going on. Not sure what, and I never found out. But when I wandered around I found Nogrod, Lommy and Rikae standing in the corridor. So we hung around and were talking for a while (no idea what about) and then Nogrod says, "We'll wait a few more minutes for narfforc to show up."
When he did it turned out he and Nogrod were not speaking to one another. There was an awkward silence.
Weird.

Last night, I dreamed that Volo and I had scheduled an online chat for whatever reason - but at the appointed time, we entered the chatroom only to be confounded by the band Jet. They were ugly, hairy, and odiferous, and whilst Volo cowered in the corner I was forced to deal with them by myself with my newly discovered Matrix-esque fighting skills. Them being dealt with finally, I sat back in my chair, and waited.
After eight hours of no activity on the chatboard, I looked up and found that Volo had been chatting with everyone and their sister, but not me. Not even about me, yo. Then Rune enters the chatroom, notices me, and says "Hey, can you get me a soda?" I say sure and log off. I thumb my nose at you both!
Then I went over to Kath's house, where Oromin was also visiting. We had a lovely chat, and Kath gave me the gift of a car, and Oromin gave me three cents. And a business card. Maybe she was a mechanic.

Last night I had a dream that this certain friend of mine wanted to make a prank call to Saucie. Unfortunately, neither Lommy nor I had his number, so she decided to call Mith instead, whose number Lommy gave her without hesitating.
When Mith answered, she just mumbled something and growled at her. However, Mith didn't seem to be the least bit surprised about a stranger calling her, and started debating about something with my friend.

Yesterday, I went to sleep thinking: "I'd like to have a weird an interesting dream. But sadly you never have them if you wish for them..." Apparently I was wrong, for I dreamt the following:
I lived in a big house. Its walls were painted in bright colours and it was quite pretty. Agan either lived with me or then hanged around at my place all the time. One day, a demon/ vampire / dark lord arrived. He took the house for himself and it became a dark, black-and-red vampire mansion. He said that I and Agan have to kill ten people. In return, we would get a cloak woven of their threads of life. We did not want to agree, but he forced us to.
I kept whining that I can't kill people. Agan took a more practical approach: she knew we could do nothing else. So, she started killing people, one per night. She killed seven people, and many (if not all) of them were 'downers. At least Sleepy, THE Ka and Kath died in her hands and possibly Volo and Brinniel too. But when she had killed seven people, she said that she's done more than her share of the duty and I must quit whining about our terrible fate and kill the three remaining ones.
The night after that, I broke into Rune's house. I went to his bedroom intending to kill him. But when I was there, I suddenly did not want to kill him. (It was not like "No, I can't kill Rune!"... it was more like "I don't want to play chess, let's play poker instead". :D) So I went to kill some random woman instead of Rune.
Then, only one kill remained (yes, I know that my dream maths sucks :p). The vampire lord gave us two choices. Either I must kill Legate or six lions sleeping around a fountain on a town square. Agan said I should kill the lions, I wanted to kill Legate. So we argued for a long time. I don't remember the arguments, except that I had some arguments for killing Legate that I did not say aloud and that my key argument was that it would make a better ending for the story if I killed Legate. Sadly, I woke up before I found out which one(s) I ended up killing.
Quite creepy, isn't it? :D

Tonight I had a dream I could report here. I was going on a trip somewhere and I had to catch the train. But the train was leaving and I had to hurry. With me, there was Gil/McCaber/The Might in one person, who chose to take a shortcut and run across the railway to get to the train. I followed him. Then he turned into Rune with enormous rucksack (sorry, Rune. I don't know, but that's really worth psychological analysis: in my dreams, you either are shopping, or carry an enormous rucksack. Or both.) and he was shouting on me to hurry, as a train may arrive and it will run over me if I stand on the rail, of course. But, as it goes in the dreams, I could not move very fast. I could not even coordinate my movements well. I was moving just by milimeters, really. And so of course there was the train, but the driver spotted me and stopped, yet I, of course, was still moving horribly slowly there and blocking the train's way. The driver started to be quite upset, the people in the train and around are becoming upset... but suddenly Esty appeared with a solution. She took a throwing dagger and threw it at me. Her conclusion was simple: she was convinced that the person on the rail is not really me. She concluded that it is an unreal clone of myself, which will disappear as soon as it is hit. Well, she wasn't right, of course. Anyway, I woke up after that.

I also don't mind being killed by Agan. I imagine it was probably very clever and downright hilarious. Just the way I want to go.

Oh, that's nice to hear. :) I will keep it in mind, in case we will meet each other some day. :p
And to be killed randomly with Sleepy? Nay, I'm rather sure it was intentional indeed. ;)
I had a dream I found an old Disney cartoon which had an 18 certificate in a local DVD rental store. Its name was HerenIstarion, and all that I could find out of it was that it began with a scene of a young girl committing suicide at her friend's birthday party. I would have wanted to rent it, but I didn't have much money and thought I wouldn't have time to watch it, anyway.

The night before last night I dreamed that I, Greenie and our mother were travelling in Canada. We were in a hotel and the paintings on the hotel walls had been painted by an artist who shared his last name with Farael. The designer of the radiators had the same last name as well. Fortunately, I had Farael's phone number and SMSed him, asking if he was related to these people and if he'd like to meet me now that I was in Canada.
And in some weird way this was all related to Queen Elizabeth of England teaching me proper manners, me taking a train to some odd little town and getting attacked by ninjas. Also, THE Ka and Legate were somehow related to some of this but I have no idea to what and how.

It was Legate that by mistake would reveal the identety of some of us, what was weird was that everytime I looked at the post where he did so; the name would change. At first it was people in the actual game and then latter Legate would reveal the identity of people like Bob Dole.

The other night I had my first BD dream in what's been a long time...
I had written somewhere online, that I won't be on the BD for some time because I've been way too busy lately (which is actually true...no need to state that as I'm sure some have noticed my recent lack in activity). And then someone else (I think it was Greenie), wrote that she needed to take a break from the Downs too. In response, Lommy wrote an LJ post saying something like this: "Since things have been quite busy around here, I've decided to follow Brinn and Green's initiative and take a break from the Downs. I may not return online for a few months. But before I go, let me post several pictures of me and Noggie." And underneath her writing were several thumbnails of photos, both recent and old. I clicked to enlarge the first one and discovered it was not of Lommy or Nogrod, but of Lommy's mother. And underneath the photo was a newspaper article about how her mother was killed in a car accident when Lommy was just a baby. Infant Lommy was thrown from the car, but somehow survived. It was such a sad article, I started to tear up. I never actually finished reading it because in the middle I woke up and realised I overslept...
Yeah...I never said it was a happy BD dream... :/

For reasons best known to the government I was at Oxonmoot and yet reluctant to go in. I seemed to think that the Watcher in the Water was there. Anyway, I eventually went in only to discover a large crowd had gathered outside. Rune and Lommy were there and laughing at something. It turned out Davem was on the roof and refused to come down. Lalwende was trying to entice him down by burning his wallet, but he was hugging the chimney and saying he'd stay there forever...
Yes...
I don't know if he ever got down because I decided I was bored with waiting for him to come down and it was suddenly night time for no reason. Oddwen appeared out of nowhere and asked to use my mobile phone, it was then I realised I didn't have it, nor did I have my wallet. I asked Lal if she'd seen it and she said she'd burned it by accident. :o
Then something different happened that was unrelated...

I dreamed that I went Abroad to visit Downers, with the knowledge that Diamond18 was in the region too. I made my way unannounced to Rune's house, where his (possibly abusive?) parents were less than happy to see me. I was puzzled to see that his father was Nogrod, and even more puzzled to see one of my RL friends and a group of her manga-nerd posse show up and cry "Let's form a Fellowship of our own!". After Noggie kept trying to get me into his recording studio, I fled to Volo's house where I met Diamond, and we had a nice quiet evening.

I was with the Finnish Downers (dancing spawn not included, sadly), and all I remember was that there was a lot of drinking (though I passed up on that) and silly dancing in front of a mirror.
I'm not sure Nogrod was there, though. But he sent me a PM/note/whatever from of written correspondence it was telling me about his work, among others which I can no longer remember.

Well, I had a rather silly dream last weekend. It seems like poor Legate has stuck on having the role of a jerk in my dreams... Anyway, this is quite funny:
Legate sent Agan and me a collection of Finnish folk tales. We thought it was very sweet of him, he had also written a very nice dedication to the first page. We started leafing through the book. It was full of Legate's own notes written to the mariginals with a ballpoint pen. About half of them were intelligent comments on the stories, their intertextuality and structure etc. But half of them were very idiotic jokes and insulting comments of this and that.
"Are you sure Legate has really written these things?" I asked Agan.
"Well, it's all in the same handwriting, so he must have," she replied.
"I can't believe he's really like that!"
"It seems quite surprising, yes, but it seems he is."
We were about to close the book, when we saw what Legate had written on the last page: "Wow! I just realised that the words 'alegre' and 'allegory'* resemble each other a lot. This proves that God exists and that He loves us! Hallelujah!"
*apparently, "allegory" was a religious term in the dream
My apologies, I really don't understand how my subconscious works... :D

"Wow! I just realised that the words 'alegre' and 'allegory'* resemble each other a lot. This proves that God exists and that He loves us! Hallelujah!"
This is almost quote-worthy enough to be placed in a siggie. :D

Last night I saw a dream about mostly school. I was walking around my school, which somehow resembled the Russian Museum in St. Petersburg. I remember stopping for a short chat with some Nogrod and some fellow students, but what's more interesting is that there was a poetry exhibition of the students' art going on (like there sometimes are). So I started reading and there were some really good poems. One poem had some interesting point in it and I stopped to think about it. As I studied it, I noticed that it was written by Lommy and I smiled at why I hadn't realized it straight away. I looked around and found two more poems by Lommy.
One of them was quite peculiar: The first two rows were normal but then the poem continued with "(Thanks for inspiration to [Kath's real name], Beleg, Mithalwen, [other Downers])" That was a part of the poem in a way, but it wasn't even in Finnish. At that I thought that now she truly overdid it and wondered what she would write in the "Top Ten Signs You're Addicted to the Barrow-Downs" -thread.

In my dream, three French girls came over to Noggie's place and I had to keep them company. Only one of them spoke a little English and I mostly had to speak French to them and it was quite horrible because my French sucks... And why I'm mentioning this here is that the girl who spoke some English was somehow Nerwen. And I really didn't treat her well, I ran away from her and the other girls when I heard a Disney song that reminded me of an inside joke and left her to translate my last words which were explanation of the joke - a sligthly rude nickname a 7-year-old boy once devised for a friend of mine. :D

I had my first real Barrow Downs dream last night. By real, I mean, one that was clearly Barrow Downs and one that I can remember in detail.
In it, I was so excited to re-introduce a certain character in the Scarburg Meadhall role-playing game. I've been reading Fea's posts about Saeryn for two weeks now and am finally writing a post about Saeryn...I have it half finished, and then I get on the Downs, and I check the Scarburg Meadhall Discussion Thread. Legate of Amon Lanc (don't as me why it was him) had posted there for some reason... I scroll down, and what do I see? A massive post, pages upon pages, wherein he had done my job of researching Saeryn. He had quotes from her, her history, reasons why she would act in such and such away, and other things. He took it completely out of my hands...
I was so angry (sorry Legate) that I nearly began to cry. I hit reply and began to write a post, immediately calling him an 'intruder' and 'thief' and other such names, for stealing the character Fea had given me. In the dream, I decided not to post that post, so I erased it and left.
I woke with an oppressed feeling, thinking that I could no longer write Saeryn because Legate had taken her from me.

I had a dream last night that Lommy was writing an epic poem for the deathday of this mighty forum - in it she would attempt to place the names of all the Downers who had "mattered" over the years.
She was about forty stanzas completed, but she was stuck for a few rhymes, so she posted it on her LJ for us to see & contribute.
She was stuck on one particular line in Oromin's verse, it was a third line and the last word of the fourth line needed to rhyme with "day". Rune suggested "effulge", and obstinately stuck to that word, even suggesting it for multiple lines later in the poem.
"I don't even know what rhymes with effulge!" cried Lommy, but she wasn't really impressed when I suggested "indulge".
I suggested the word "delay", but Lommy shot that down, saying "'delay' and 'day' is too common!"
I should mention for *cough* information purposes only, that my verse was first, but it was only three lines long to the standard four.

I, too, am rather confused by the obscure turtle reference. Is it poetic? Or symbolic? Beware the figurative eight-legged dream-turtle?

She was a rather friendly dragon, offering advise on how to play the game, but it was hard trying to avoid her nonetheless.
The way to get out of the level was to climb up these really tall ladders & ropes, sometimes switching from the two at dangerous heights. Diamond18 kept giving me advice such as "Ooo, you don't want to fall from such a great height! Ooo, don't miss your transition, you'll fall splat! If I were you, I wouldn't miss this rope! Jump! Seal meat is eaten there legally, though the right to access it is restricted. It looks good though, but I closest thing I've seen to seal meat/blubber is whale blubber that my friend and her tribe ate.
So as not to be too off-topic, I actually had a dream that remotely involved the Downs a few days ago. I can't remember much except that I was on a bus, then a plane, then for some odd reason at an airport in Helsinki. One of my friends from home was with me for the flight for some odd reason, then she immediately turned around and left me at the airport because she had to go to Sweden to visit relatives or something. So, then I was stranded, but when I tried to buy another ticket the airport security came up and said they couldn't allow me to return home. I tried asking why, and everytime they would glance off into space and pretend I wasn't there.
I decided that since they weren't any help I'd just walk around the airport and see if I could find any. I came across Nogrod, who was oddly acting as if he expected me there and kept talking about selling me an area of land with a small 'house' on it, and a bunch of other real estate features. I told him that was nice and all, but I'd really like to find out why I couldn't board another plane, except he became a bit flustered and said that it didn't matter and I really should focus on how much of a 'steal' the land was, and how the market was right, etc.
I finally walked off and tried to find some actual help, with Nogrod still following me and telling me more about the house, and I met up with Aganzir and asked her about everything. Then she looked really disappointed that I wanted to board another plane, and kept telling me that I should just forget about it and stay in Finland, and especially buy the land Nogrod was trying to sell me.
I was really suspicious at this point, but for some reason I threw up my hands and asked about the house, and how many stories it was, etc. Nogrod then looked at me as if I was crazy and said, "Stories? No way, it's completely underground, y'know, like a burrow. Really, you should check it out, it's a steal! It's the only way to live."
I told him I probably was too big to live underground and that I prefered walls without worms in them, and he started to back away from me as if I was mad or something. Then of course, the dream ends and I never find out if I buy the silly place or not.

Yes, but if I did that I'd have to live in a burrow, with who knows what already living in there. It would probably be some big trap after signing on the bottom line. Like a Shelob with boundary issues or a freshly annoyed and angry Bilbo hidden in one of the cupboards.
As for visiting I'd love to, but I'm afraid that part of the dream was truly wishful. Currently, I'm looking ahead to four more years of no savings and future loan payments. There is a possibility of studying abroad later on, that is if I can afford the whole affair. Higher education seriously is turning into a twelve year old with a credit card...

I had a rather creepy and rather depressing BD dream, but as it amused me on some level and I found it quite interesting, so I'll post it anyway...
It was a sunny afternoon. I, Greenie, my three best RL friends (including Aganzir), Volo and Lhuna were in Nogrod's place, drinking tea and chatting. Suddenly, Volo turned to me and said in a low voice: "There's something I must tell you. In private." I cast him a quizzical look, but agreed to come to talk with him in the corridor.
"What's the matter?" I asked.
"I... I killed Legate and Nilp," he replied, "I must hide the bodies."
I looked at him (with an "oh silly boy what have you done now" -expression) and said, at length: "Then I guess I must help you."
We went to the yard and the rest of the tea party came with us. Volo would not have wanted to tell them what was the matter, but I refused to keep it secret. None of the others wanted to help Volo, they just stared at him in silence. Then Lhuna, looking very pale, said she wanted to go home and left.
I helped Volo nevertheless. He had buried the bodies to the grass in the yard, only something like 10cm (4 inches) deep. I said it was a very poor place and that they should be hidden elsewhere. Legate's body was very small and white and had a big head, of Nilpaurion there was only one hand and one other piece left. I don't know what Volo had done to him, but I remember thinking it was quite a crafty way to kill someone since there were so little remains. Anyway, we dumped what was left of Nilp and Legate to the biowaste and covered them with mould.
Then I was suddenly in a room that resembled the room I and Greenie shared when I was something like five years old. My three friends and Greenie were in the room with me. Now it was one of my best friends, not Volo, who had killed Nilp and Legate. I was very sad, crying all the time, and unbelievably angry at my friend, who seemed to find her deed very funny and just kept laughing. My other friends and Greenie weren't any more comforting. They kept telling me things like:
"Stop whining. People die every now and then."
"You have a lot of friends. Losing two of them hardly matters." (I think Agan was the one who said this...)
"What happens, happens. Get over it."
"It isn't such a big deal."
"I can't see why you're that upset by that."
"She did it, and so what? You can't change it anymore. It doesn't matter."
I tried to explain that it surely mattered to me and that it really was horrible for me. One of the examples/arguments I used was: "Just think! I've been away from 'downs for a day. In that time, Legate probably made ten posts before he died. Ten posts of his I've never read, and that's all! And now that you've killed him, he will never write new posts. Never! Can't you see? Even if I read only one of those posts per year, there would only be unread posts by him for ten years! And then it's over, I will never hear anything new of him again!"
I called them cruel, immoral and heartless and was very angry at them all.
Then, I woke up. We were still in the same room. I started crying again, because I had been so nasty to my friends as they really hadn't said those things and no one had really killed Legate and Nilp. I explained that I had thought it to be true because it was such a life-like dream (it had really felt very real). They said it was alright and understandable.
Then I really woke up. I was safely in my own bed, alone and thought, "that was a really disturbing dream". I can't really explain this, but in the dream, the dream within the dream had seemed very real and life-like, but when I woke up, both the dream and the dream within the dream seemed quite unreal. Definitely weird.
Also, I think it's quite amusing how the atmosphere and my attitude changes from the first part of the dream to the second. First, I'm very pragmatic and matter-of-fact, and not really moved by what has happened, but in the second part I'm upset, angry and very sad. Odd, isn't it? All in all, I think the first part is quite grotesque but amusing in a way (I and Volo are acting so oddly! :D) and it was not nightmare-ish at all, but the second part was really depressing, I'm not sure if I could call it a nightmare, but it was definitely a very bad dream.
And I really don't know what to make of this habit of mine of having rather sinister BD dreams... I hope no one involved is seriously creeped out by this. ;) And lastly, I should probably make it clear that my friends aren't normally like that... this was just a weird dream.

A Dream Within A Dream
Take this kiss upon the brow!
And, in parting from you now,
Thus much let me avow-
You are not wrong, who deem
That my days have been a dream;
Yet if hope has flown away
In a night, or in a day,
In a vision, or in none,
Is it therefore the less gone?
All that we see or seem
Is but a dream within a dream.
I stand amid the roar
Of a surf-tormented shore,
And I hold within my hand
Grains of the golden sand-
How few! yet how they creep
Through my fingers to the deep,
While I weep- while I weep!
O God! can I not grasp
Them with a tighter clasp?
O God! can I not save
One from the pitiless wave?
Is all that we see or seem
But a dream within a dream?
