View Full Version : LOTR Survivor
Boromir88

While in anticipation for the new survivor I have dreamt up this new game of LOTR survivor. (With a bit of Werewolfish inspiration).
Ok, I will put up a list of a LOTR characters and you guys and gals vote for who you want to vote off. Whoever tacks up the most votes in that day is voted off, and we continue.
Voting will begin at 5:00 pm (Eastern Standard Time) til 5:00 the next day.
Please list votes like so ++Frodo, and it would be funner if you give an explanation as to why. By all means, this is Middle-earth Mirth, think of something totally whacky.
So, here it goes...
Hobbits:
Frodo
Sam
Merry
Pippin
Bilbo
Lobelia Sackville-Baggins
Lotho Sackville-Baggins
Gollum
Men and Rohan Lady:
Aragorn
Boromir
Denethor
Faramir
Theoden
Eomer
Eowyn
Grima
Hama
Wizards:
Gandalf
Saruman
Radagast
Alatar
Pallando
Elves:
Elrond
Arwen
Glorfindel
Galadriel
Celeborn
Legolas
Haldir
Thranduil
Cirdan
Dwarves:
Gimli
Gloin
Others:
Treebeard
Quickbeam
Tom Bombadil
Goldberry
Badguys:
Sauron
Witch-King
Gothmog
Ugluk
Grishnakh
Edit: I posted this after 5 so for the first day I'll extend 5 minutes, unless it's not a big deal.

Well...i'm not sure exactly if it's time, or how this is suppost to work, but i'll go anyways
++Arwen
She's always whining, and never helps with the immunity challenges. And during tribal council, she always just sits there and whines.
++Arwen

Perky, you did it right, I guess I should add that you may vote anytime you want.
Voting goes from 5 pm until 5 pm the next day, vote anytime between that. Whoever has the most votes for that day will be off, then the next day of voting begins. Good choice.
I suppose I'll vote now too...
So many choices, you make a good case for Arwen, she has been rather whiny. But I got to go with Alatar, this guy just doesn't do anything. He just loafs around all day and is never any help. I'm sure his accomplice Pallando will have to go soon too.
So today...
++Alatar

I like the idea, though I'm not sure how this is working, but here goes...
++Lotho Sackville-Baggins
He's so lazy and selfish. The only time he ever helps is when it directly benefits him. He also whines too much and he keeps starting fights with other teammates. He simply must go.

*Puts on Balrog Mask*
Balrog-Ent: I vote ++Arwen. Like perky said, she brings down the morale of the group. I'd rather not have the wizards than have her.
I hope to make an avatar so you can see my Balrog form. If only i dind't leave photoshop back at my house...

++Gollum
Arwen may be whiny and annoying, but Gollum is a plain nuisance. I'm tired of hearing him constantly lament his lost precioussss. And he's always causing squabbles between the Sackville-Bagginses and Bilbo by bringing up the story of his adventures. Furthermore, both Frodo and Bilbo are tired of being called "thief, Baggins" all day. It's putting quite a damper on the hobbits' spirits. And frankly, I don't want to hear it anymore either.
Besides, Gollum is always stealing my fish. It takes all day to catch a fish on this island, and hard work it is too. I just want to have some nice, tasty grilled salmon without having to hear about how I've spoiled the nice fissh or needing to play tug-of-war against Mr. Gollum's teeth.
Azaelia of Willowbottom
09-06-2005, 05:48 PM
I'd like to vote for
++Radagast!
Those birds of his keep flying all over the place and making such a ghastly mess all over everything. This is the third time I've had to wash my hair this afternoon alone. Either he and his birds go, or I do!
Alcarillo

I must band-wagon with the Perky Ent on this one.
++Arwen
After how she so rudely pushed Glorfindel out of the picture, she deserves it.
The Saucepan Man
09-06-2005, 06:00 PM
Surely it's a no brainer.
++GANDALF
He gets out of the tasks by saying that he can only "guide" since some "higher authority" prevents him from direct participation. When things need doing, he disappears for hours on end on some unspecified "business" and then appears again all of a sudden without explanation. He is irritable, even more so now that the pipeweed has run out. And he can also be a bit of a bully, picking on Pippin and Denethor in particular.
What's more, if we vote him off now maybe he will return as Gandalf the White Survivor and be a bit more darn useful around the camp.
Glirdan
09-06-2005, 06:03 PM
Yes I definetely agree with the Arwen arguement and therefore I shall vote...
++ARWEN
She pushed Glorfindel from his horse just to get a bigger role in the movie!! Why couldn't she have gone with her dear old dad into the West and never return and thus leave all of the rest alone.
Durelin
09-06-2005, 06:13 PM
Wow. I finally get to off some of 'em.
But which one...
I'm leaing toward Thranduil, for having Legolas. What was he thinking?
Or maybe Sauron, for just being a total bi-otch and stealing the Witch-King's limelight.
Hmm... Well, here goes.
++The Saucepan Man
Woops...I mean,
++Thranduil (for reasons stated above)

++Grishnakh
he is always quareling with the other members of his tribe and is all set on stealing things from the hobbit tribe.
Boromir88
09-06-2005, 06:22 PM
Perky, sorry, I must discount Balrog-Ents vote unless we happen to have a tie, we can't have mass lynchings...I mean..cast offs.
Kitanna, don't know if you are familiar with the show or not, but basically there's 12 people sent to an island all by themselves (though I doubt it). The losing tribe in the challenge has to vote one of their players off. Well, here to keep things simple, simply vote for one of the LOTR characters on the list. At the end of the days' voting the person with the most is "cast off" and we continue to the next. Again, voting for this day will be done at 5 pm (Eastern standard time, which I think is 9 pm barrowdowns time, if you want to figure out yours from there).
Hmm... Well, here goes.
++The Saucepan Man
Haha, Durelin, ahh the werewolf is all in us. Good logic for Thranduil, what was he thinking?
So far the votes are...
Arwen- 3
Radagast- 1
Thranduil- 1
Alatar- 1
Gandalf- 1
Grishnakh- 1
Gollum- 1
Lotho- 1
And Saucepan- 1...oops, disregard that. :p

Although there are characters much more worthy of being destroyed... er, sent home, than those who have already been voted for, I will limit myself to that list for today's vote, for the simple fact that the list is otherwise enormous.
And so I add my vote to that of Kitanna's, and consequently vote for:
++Lotho Sackville-Baggins.
The evidence against Lotho is copious, and to go into it all here would be a pointless waste of many valuable seconds of my time. So, for the three main reasons.
LOTHO IS LAZY
Being stuck in Survivor Middle-Earth (Late Third Age Edition) is bad enough, without being lazy. There are only 42 people on this island, and everybody needs to do his or her fair share of the work. Not doing so is far more than unfair, it is practically criminal. And we all know that Lotho is among the laziest of hobbits.
LOTHO IS A WHINER
Even worse than being trapped with 40 people and one lazy person is being trapped with 40 people and one whiny person. One might be able to put up with Lotho doing no work. Putting up with Lotho's incessant whining just isn't going to happen.
LOTHO HAS NO ALLIES
Even his mother was alienated when she was sent to the Lockholes. And don't go looking to Grima or Sharkey for support.
Those are the three, main, judicious reasons. Reasons for which ANY islander would be executed... I mean, sent home. But there is a fourth, overwhelming reason.
"THE PIMPLE"
Lotho Sackville-Baggins is also known to history as 'the Pimple'. Witness any teenager's loathing and disgust of this eponym, and you will see why he ought to go. Never mind baddies like Sauron, or perverts like the Wormtongue, Middle-Earth Island will be a MUCH more pleasant place without the 'the Pimple'.

Which Gothmog are we talking about? The winged one or the Man? :smokin:
Because I'm about to vote for Bombadil, so he'd stop confusing people, when I realised Balrogs (and the Third Age Gothmog) confuse people, too.
Meanwhile, I vote for
++Frodo
Because he does nothing around the camp except mope. And, 'Sorry, but I can't carry stuff around because I'm nine-fingered.' isn't a good excuse.
Dimcollowen
09-07-2005, 09:20 AM
well...I would have to vote ++Arwen because she is just soo dang annoying! When she isn't whining and complaing she's attempting boss every1 else around! Like just because she is an Elf she can get her way!! DO you see Galadriel doing that??? I think not!!
Oh! and another thing! She is always hanging all over Aragorn at the immunity challenges!! And that whole thing with Glorfingel!!! The worst part is when she is back at camp away from Aragorn she is constantly flirting with Legolas or Celeborn! First off she's married to Aragorn why would she even consider flirting with them?! And Secondly Celeborn is married to Galadriel get over it Arwen!!! Jeez!! I think that one of these days we are going to a cat from those 2 over him....

While there are other people I could do without - Arwen (bbok or movie) is going to have to get the vote. Unless one of the challenges involve sewing she is going to be in the chocolate teapot category of usefulness. And she is a disruptive influence. For some reason none of the guys seem to focus on the task when she is around. Also she insists on sittting alone under the one canopy the tribe have managed to rig up with their basic equipment and the basic rice rations are incompatible with her trendy diet.
She has to go.
++Arwen
I don't see why you are so down on Thranduil. Even if he wasn't thinking of the consequence of his ... err...actions, Legolas has long reached the age of discretion so I think is high time that Legolas was blamed for Legolas rather than his father.
And book Legolas is unobjectionable, only the film version is "Prince Legolas the Perpetually Confused, Officer in Charge of Stating the Blindingly Obvious and Designated Dumb Blond.

Everyone just jumps on the band-wagon to vote Arwen off. Hm, there's something suspicious about that.
Anyway, I shall have to vote Gollum. Though his constant preciousss may amuse some of you, I simply find it annoying that before every immunity challenge he has to have an extended debate with himself whether he has to do his best or screw it up for the others. He's just an unreliable teamplayer. At least with Sauron we know what we're dealing with. Also, who put him in charge of meals? I'd like my fish not so raw for once, thank you.

There is always the possibility that a lot of people find Arwen annoying. I found film Arwen annoying ( Liv Tyler has one of those faces I just want to smack to make it look surprised for a reason - though I do feel a bit mean since she does seem from what one can tell to be a remarkably grounded person especially given her unorthodox background), whereas book Arwen is merely dull.

++ Arwen
Surely if the next day's task involves a standard we can just have Elrond come up with one. ;) Arwen is a bit whiny, she's disobedient, she sits in her tent on her tushy while other people do her tasks, & the way she refuses to stop distracting Aragorn brings up memories of Rob & Amber. Arwen has to go.

Gollum had a fair bit of support last time, so I'll throw my vote in behind him, in the hopes that the old voters will pull through, and we will have the slimy creature lynched... I mean, voted off.
Gollum is, first of all, a very slippery character, going by the assorted names of Gollum, Smeagol, Stinker, Slinker, and My Precious, depending on the situation at hand. He is also physically slimy.
Furthermore, Gollum is definitely not a team player, a serious liability to whoever is unfortunately stuck with him on this Middle-Earth Island. Look at the evidence to that effect. He kills his closest friend for a shiny bauble. He is kicked out of his village (an important precedent to consider), and proceeds to live- ALONE- at the base of a mountain for several centuries.
Once forced into the open, he continues to play a solitary game. He betrays everyone: Mordor, Frodo, even his own stinking self. The only creature he teams up with is Shelob (a nasty teammate, I might add), but he ends up botching that too.
Gollum also has a decidedly greedy and petty nature, only interested in fish and gold rings, which he covets very greedily, and goes to any length to acquire.
Quite clearly, the fellow is nasty, and should be eliminated. Let us follow the example of his grandmother- his GRANDMOTHER, mind- and send him away.

Same reasons as yester-Day (http://forum.barrowdowns.com/showpost.php?p=411540&postcount=9).

According to the rules of Middle-earth, all votes made for the Witch-King by male mortals will be considered null and void. :p

In addition to reasons already said, he's one of those guys who has connections to everybody. He's probably got a string of alliances going already, and no doubt he'll start pulling strings later in the game to keep himself in it. If we don't vote him out now, he's going to be running the whole game.
And really, we all know that he can make fire with just a word or two, so what's with all this loafing around? He could be a real help if he put his mind to it, but nooo.

Well, it's pretty widely known that Frodo is a freakin' pansy! Off with his Head!
Err, ehem... Yes, as Nilp pointed out yesterday, he does nothing but mope around the camp complaining. "My shoulder aches.", "My hand aches.", or "I feel so empty now that it's gone." And what's worse, all this keeps Sam from doing very much. Sam is a very good worker, but he's so worried about Frodo, he doesn't do anything but try to make him feel better. So Frodo has got to go.

Well I am quite happy to vote Gandalf today - apart from other factors (the uncloaked thing is unpleasant true) - on paper he is one of the strongest tribe members but he never does much - at least not without fatal procrastination. THe tribe cannot afford to wait 16 years for him to act on crucial information - and then merely delegate. At least the witch king is proactive and dynamic though I think Sauron may have an unnatural hold on him.
And he smells.

Once again, just to be contrary, I'm not going to go with the primary vote, but with someone else, in hopes of creating a large enough bloc to get someone else lynched.
Don't get me wrong, the Witchking is a worthy target and all, but I feel that there are more important characters to get rid of first. At least the Witchking is a great and powerful member of his tribe, actually useful for something.
Legolas, on the other hand, is not.
Maybe it's all these years of having his once-noble image trod into prissyness, or maybe it's the tension of not knowing his true hair colour, or maybe it's the trauma of being associated with the "Legolas' hare" thread.
Whatever it may be, the poor Elf has gone insane, and is now totally useless to his tribe. Even Tolkien admitted it when he said that Legolas had, "probably accomplished the least of all the Fellowship".
Therefore, I vote:

Or, I can close voting at around 2-ish when I plan on leaving and we'll put the thread on hold until Monday. Whatever you are up to, please let me know before 2 (Eastern Standard time), so let's see that 6 GMT (downs) time.

TY Glirdan, that'll be perfect.
Ok votes so far go...
Hmm, it seems like the WK's fate is pretty much sealed. I am interested in making this a challenge though, for I have never really liked Legolas, especially in the movies. As been said his screaming (and singing may I add) gets quite annoying. And really what's with his surfing too? Does he think he's some PacSun model?

More votes for Legolas!!! Let's rid Middle-earth of the injustice of his existence! Only two more votes and he ties the Witchking. Only three more votes and he's ahead. After that it's bandwaggoning time!!!
Come on, who here doesn't have a grudge against the Prince of Prissy? Not only is he girly, blond(e), dainty, eternally clean, Captain Obvious, somewhat dimwitted, and not much help- the girls are all over him! Come on men, let us rid the world of this unwanted, unliked competition! Come on ladies, let's rid the world of this embarrassment to any intelligent man-seeking woman! Now, now, Formendacil...that's not nice. :p
But then again, even among the women he is involved in competition. He hogs all the raspberry shampoo from that reward challenge to himself. (Have you seen poor Éowyn's hair (http://forum.barrowdowns.com/showpost.php?p=411943&postcount=7200)?) And he spends too much time washing his hair, thus causing the seawater to be so soapy that all the fish are driven away from the shore, so not even Gollum can catch a fissh so juicy sweet! For failure to apply himself to the tasks and camp duties. He's always off in the jungle talking to otters and chatting up some river-woman's daughter. He's completely lost interest in the competition. It's clearly of no import to him. And what does he add to the show? Nothing. Happily there are no carnivorous trees or barrow-wights on the island and, even if there were, the Ents and Sauron respectively could deal with them. The novelty factor of his outrageous costume has worn out, not least because his yellow boots are now covered in mud, and all those ring-a-ding-dillo's are beginning to grate.
It's time for him to go.
The Perky Ent

Well...the main reason I'm jumping to the band wagons is the sheer amount of people. There are some person (witch king, legolas, arwen, Sackville Baggins) who people just, as a group, hate. Maybe, if there's that much of a census, we should just throw several off the plank, so we can have more interesting debates on who should get voted off. Just a thought

++Frodo (movie)
That weakling... always falling over and tripping over his own feet. He's a horrible liability in team challenges, and he just gets in everyone's way in the individual ones. Sam is the only one who can get him to go anywhere and do anything; he's so annoyingly dependent. He doesn't always even pay it back in kind - sometimes the look in his eyes when he looks at Sam is down-right venomous. He doesn't do much around camp, either - complaining about some other heavy burden. As if everyone else doesn't have their own problems around camp.
Besides, he's a distractor to everyone else. Been paying attention to Gollum lately? or Boromir or Denethor or Saruman? And don't forget Sauron, of course...
Besides, he's an usuper of an amazing book character. He's just got to go.

Enough of this bandwagoning, already. :) I'll vote for ++Goldberry today.
Why Goldberry you may ask, with Gollum still around to bite everyone's ankles? There was a lot of talk in the Tom/Goldberry camp about spring cleaning and it's been cloudy and drizzling since we've been here, so I strongly suspect she's responsible. I'd really like to see the sun once in a while (so what if Gollum does complain about the Yellow Face) and eliminating Goldberry is the best way to try and improve the weather patterns. What's more, she's always pestering the rest of the tribe to find lilies for her. Hunting down flowers when there's work to be done is an unnecessary distraction. Finally, she doesn't seem to do much besides sitting in basins of water with her feet surrounded by those lilies everyone else spent the day searching for, so she doesn't contribute very much to the team effort. Send her home to the Old Forest!

The problems of there being another whom I would give my vote to... Oh well, I'll get that blasted Hobbit later... For now, a certain Gondorian is my target.
Now, why wouldn't I vote off a cruel, manipulative git like Denethor? He tried to take his own son, his final heir, to the firey grave he prepared to end himself. He wouldn't reliquish the rule of the country to its proper heir.
You may be a Gondorian noble, and one of the last (if not The Last) Ruling Stewards of Gondor, and you may have been named after a Nandorian hero (tradition, but you do not honor the name), but you, sir, are not deserving of whatever lies in store for the victor.

Yes my vote goes to the dark deciever! oh yes he sits there all dark and broody saying nothing but already he has all but driven poor Denethor mad with that rock of his, turned Saurman against his fellow wizards with same said rock I might add and that eye *shivers* roving about the camps searching; endlessly searching *shivers again* well it just gives me the creeps. :eek: and makes the hobbit tribe terribly uncomfortable so I say we poke him in the eye, smash his rock and send him packing into the void.

Ok, well there is only about an hour and a half left for voting. Now, if we get two more votes for Tom, we have a little situation on our hands that I'd like to get settled before we lynch...I mean kick someone off the island. ;) I don't know how Boro would have done this so will take a vote on what we want to do. Here are two options we have:
1) A double lynch is always a possiblity. Or....
2) We can do it how they do on survivor, a tie breaker. For those who don't know how it works, I'll explain it here, but a little different then how it actually works. Those who voted for Tom or Legolas CAN NOT vote again. Those who voted for someone else will be forced to vote for the one they don't like out of the two up on the chopping block and they will have to come up with a good reason, one which hasn't been stated previously. You will have half an hour to post your vote.
Is all that clear? If you need more explanation, PM me. For the decision on which way we will determine a tie, post your vote on here. We have until 5 for that. As I've previously stated, Boro left no info on what to do in the case of a tie, so I'm just doing this for the time while he's away.
Celuien
09-10-2005, 02:04 PM
Perky, sorry, I must discount Balrog-Ents vote unless we happen to have a tie, we can't have mass lynchings...I mean..cast offs. (emphasis mine)
I don't think Boromir88 had double-lynchings...oops...cast-offs in mind, although I could have misunderstood. :D So I vote for the tie-breaker option should Legolas and Tom wind up with the same number of votes (at least until Boro returns to give the final word). That will make things more interesting than a simple double vote off anyway.

09-10-2005, 02:51 PM

Tolkien didn't always have good taste. He scorned red hair, calling Maedhros "well-formed, although red-headed." He didn't appreciate the full coolness of such characters as Celegorm, Curufin and Maeglin. And he liked Gandalf. I mean, honestly.

I think we should keep Pallando for the time being, even if him and Alatar do keep wandering off and don't come back for days at a time. We should get ride of the baddys first, that includes Gollum and Denethor, even if Denethor wasn't bad. Then get rid of the useless people. Every now and then between them we could get rid of people who are annoying us, but get rid of Sauron first. Like come on, he does want us all to work for him after all and I'd rather not be enslaved thank you very much.

++Denethor
Every time he gets angry, he bursts into flames and runs through the island burning all the trees. Not to mention he almost killed Faramir with that bit of stupidity and he doesn't seem to listen to Aragron. Mr. "Meenie Pants" Denethor has to go.
Firefoot

++Saruman
He's powerful, for one thing; always using that voice of his to persuade others to vote off his opponents. Note how Gandalf was one of the first to go. He also talks people into doing his chores and letting him win challenges. Also, he's got such a long string of alliances that he can't possibly stay true to them all; someone's going to get busted. He's willing to do anything to get ahead, and he's playing both sides plus his own right now. He's got to go.

Haldir (movie version) is a terrible scourge to the Elf Tribe, who must be voted off the island as soon as possible. A list of reasons why:
1. Haldir is present at the Battle of Helm's Deep, a deep wound to those who love and cherish the books.
2. Haldir states: "I bring word from Elrond of Rivendell", when it is known that he serves Galadriel and Celeborn instead. Such clandestine alliances have no place on this island.
3. There are too many blond elves. Now that Legolas has been eliminated, I see no reason why we should not continue purging the island of these Legolas-like characters. (mwahaha)
We at the Anti-Haldir Coalition hope you make the right choice and vote Haldir off the island.

++ THRANDUIL
He keeps organising parties in the jungle for his Elf chums. But any time any of the others try to join in, Thranduil simply moves the party, leaving them confused and lost in the jungle. So all but the Elves spend all night trying to gate-crash Thranduil's parties and end up exhausted and wholly unfit for their day-time duties. Meantime, while Thranduil's around, all of the Elves are far more interested in partying than contributing and are thus perilously distracted from their duties. And all this exculsivity preventing any of the other tribes getting to know the Elves.
The occasional party is fine for boosting morale and all, but Thranduil's nightly and utterly exclusive bashes are competely counter-productive.
Boot him off and the island will be a much more productive and co-operative place.

There is one, and only one contestant on this island who truly does not want to be here. He spends all of his time at the shore, building ships and looking out over the water. In fact, this particular islander is so obsessed with leaving that he has covered the entire Western shore with newly built canoes. He is completely non-participatory in all island activities other than his private ship-building enterprise and just keeps saying something about waiting for the last ship to sail. Therefore, I say that we should speed things up and send ++Cirdan packing. He'll be happier and so will the rest of the contestants.

He may be shy and self-effacing, but his service with Orome gives him good hunting skills and a sense of adventure; he has excellent fashion sense (sea green robes!); Mithalwen discovered some time ago that he was a "swinging Maia of Love"; and he's quite good at driving off Easterlings as long as no one's watching.

As for voting - I am delighted that Tom Bomabadil has gone during my absence (ill) but I will not vote for Haldir - he is gloriously camp and has the best line in the film (The dwarf breathes so loud..) and it isn't his fault he is at Helm's Deep in that hideous frou-frou armour. Interesting picks so far, hmm...It'll certainly be tough. I don't know if I want Haldir to go yet, I like him.
I must say Celeborn should need to go off soon. His voice (movies) is so darn annoying (and I couldn't stand him in Kingdom of Heaven either). I'm so glad he didn't get a lot of speaking parts or I would have to rip out the VCR. It hasn't gotten any better, it would be better if he just kept his mouth shut, that voice just gets so annoying at night, especially when it gets dark. I mean the bugs already make it difficult to sleep, Celeborn's high annoying voice isn't enough?

I agree that it's time to break the alliance of Frodo and Sam. They'll do anything to get each other to the final three but they don't deserve it.It's time for Frodo to start doing some work around camp, rather than having all his meals lovingly cooked and brought to him. Every time Frodo is delegated a task, there is always one other who volunteers to do it for him.
Yeah, he's impossible. For example, if someone tells him to go fishing, Frodo conjures up lame excuses such as "it's 3rd October, I never do anything on that day". That's why we need to send Frodo packing. If there's always a bunch of guys organizing pony rides, bringing meals, fetching water and making diversions for him, it consumes the resources of the whole tribe.

Why are you voting all the interesting contestants off? Not only is it dreadfully predictable, it's also spoiling the show.
The Golden Rule of Reality TV is that you need friction and arguments between the contestants to make the show entertaining ( :rolleyes: ;) ). And it's the bad guys that cause all the tension and upsets. By voting them all off, you are simply making the show less entertaining to watch. After all, who wants to watch a load of folks sitting around all day agreeing with each other and pulling together? We need to keep some of the evil ones in to balance out all the boring good ones.
So I will vote, yet again, for one of the nicest but dullest of them all.

Though I do agree with Sauce's Golden Rule, which may be why I'm voting for Sam next. Yes we all know he's loyal, got your back, won't betray anyone, but that makes him too strong of a contestant.

Evil? I'll warrant you it wasn't Morm's and my arguing that caused people to vote about him on the favorite hobbit thread! It was his lack of evilness that made people pick him! (Maybe it was Bilbo's proneness to being wicked that causes you to like him so...)
I'll vote ++Grima. His love to Eowyn makes me sick.

Hmm, continue with my Celeborn push. (I'm sorry Mith, I don't see how this guy's attractive, plus his voice. Even if I did find him semi-attractive his voice is a turnoff).
Or, do I hop on the Sam bandwagon? As I said earlier, he gets in fights with Gollum, which is not good for tribal unity.
Also, another point to bring against Sam, whilst he is true-hearted and loyal he does not look out for the tribe, he solely works for Frodo. Certainly unselfish of him but why can't he help the tribe the same way he does with Frodo? Atleast Gollum is out and about finding food for everyone. And Sam doesn't even have the decency to give him credit.

I think I'm going to hop on the Celeborn bandwagon. Not only is his voice annoying, but the only thing is "Tell me where is Gandalf for I much desire to speak with him." You would think, seeing as he is from the Eldar days and him being married to Galadriel and all, would have given him more intelligence. WRONGO!!! How can he forget that he voted Gandalf off a few days back!?!?

He's trying to get the audience on his side with his faux country accent, his apparent working class credentials and his so-called "earthy" wisdom and humour. But it won't wash with me. I can see right through him. It's clear now that he latched onto Frodo right at the outset just to make everyone think he was a genuine, nice, loyal, "salt of the earth" kind of fellow. But he's not. He's a fake. He's playing to the audience and you're all falling for it.

Celeborn isn't just a quiet Elf, and he certainly isn't Martin Csokas. Please stop bullying him. He's got a mind of his own. He's married to Galadriel but still isn't entirely happy. He's interesting, an intellectual, a pragmatist, and a general who saved Lorien more than once. Vote for him and you show your own bad taste.
I'm going to save my own vote for now, and see how things go. But if you chuck out Celeborn, there'll be trouble...

Who did Frodo entrust his account of the War of the Ring to? And so who had final editorial control over it? Yes, that's right. Sam and his family. So it's hardly likely to be an unbiased portrayal of him, is it? No doubt he heavily edited it to make himself look all humble and loyal and heroic.

I didn't expect you to find him attractive ;).. not the cutest elf boy certainly but I think I argued elsewhere that he must have something about him to win Galadriel... he is a Teleri so he will sing well..but he lives in Lorien so he can't be a yottie (hurrah). Without Sam there would be no Frodo or for that matter no Middle-earth :rolleyes: . I voted Celeborn to hopefully save Sam but I really want to get rid of Frodo. Take about a waste of space. Most hobbits are gainfully employed. What does Frodo do? Moves in with his senile relation Bilbo and leeches all his money from him. He's given a simple task (taking the ring to a nearby mountain) and he can't even succeed at that. It isn't any wonder that he's failing at all of the challenges. I say today that Celeborn who isn't content with anything
He's married to Galadriel but still isn't entirely happy.
Come on, where's his sense of family and loyalty? What, one of the greatest women of Middle-earth isn't good enough for this snivelling little prat? I say out of this camp and make Frodo and him go find a job. I hear the Gap of Rohan is currently hiring.

No, no, NO! You fools! The island will go to wreck and ruin if Sam is gotten rid of! Who'll do your cooking for everyone? Who'll keep things nice and tidy, and make sure no one forgets the important stuff on the hikes? The chap who really needs to go is not Sam, nor Frodo, nor Aragorn, but Bilbo Baggins! That flippant liar who'll do anything to keep what's not rightfully his. You think Sam was so awful in picking some little petty fights with Gollum, consider what Bilbo did to him!!
Wayne, thank goodness you're with Morm and I. If Samwise is kicked off this island, I think we should lead a rampage to get Bilbo out of here.

A stack of documents from Sam's mayoral years was recently uncovered, which irrefutably prove Anguirel's shocking allegations. It seems that Sam used his position as Mayor to keep all pipeweed, fish and chips, chocolate cupcakes, and other tasty delights for himself and his large family.
Furthermore, Sam admitted in his diary that he plotted to seize the throne of Gondor for himself. Why else would he send Elanor out as a maid for Arwen? She was a spy sent to gather information and foment rebellion against the King while increasing the visibility of the Gamgee family for the Gondorian public.
Finally, the whole business of Sam's changing his family name to Gardner is suspicious. What was the need for an alias other than an attempt to hide his past? Additional investigations reveal that Sam used many other names, including "Sam the Snake" and "Sticky Fingers Samwise" during his years in the Shire's criminal underworld. There's no need for such an unsavory character here. It's time for Sam to go home.

How infuriating. What is the world coming to? Samwise Gamgee...best of all mortals and immortals on Middle-Earth put together. As a woman, I have to say that Celeborn also won major points with me when he rebuked Boromir for thoughtlessly using the expression 'old wives tales'. Not many people are willing to speak up for the wisdom of old women, and in a fandom which seems all too eager to brand Tolkien as sexist, Celeborn is a shining light. If ever there was a man unafraid of powerful women, or a husband willing to share glory with his wife without thinking that this in some way damages his own masculinity, Celeborn is the one.
What more can I say? I just can't vote against Celeborn after that. :D
I personally still think that Goldberry should go, although I haven't decided if I should vote for her yet.
