The beginning of the end....

The assorted players, some quiet and jittery, others loud and snappish, gathered together in the middle of a quiet village, seemingly a ghost town.

“So did we make it?” one asked. “Are we finally free?”

One of the veterans, who had long since given up hope of being rescued from their prison, replied shortly, “Don't be stupid. We would not be released without a reason.”

“Are you saying it's a trap?” a little one piped up, her voice barely audible over the more experienced player's cynical remarks. The others shook their heads and some embraced their loved ones, happy to have escaped the torturous dwelling even if this respite was temporary.

And then a duck quacked.

Those who had been leaning against decrepit buildings, dozing off in the dim light of the late evening sun, snapped awake and watched as the small creature made its -her, but who would be paying attention to details at a time like this?- way through the crowd of refugees.

“This isn't over,” one of them muttered, and several others nodded, making their way into a deserted inn for the night. They could all use a night's rest, especially after their recent escape, newfound freedom, and complete lack of a plan.

A few of them twitched, convinced they saw shadows move behind the pillars of the local church, but they attributed it to lack of food and sleep and headed toward shelter.

They paid no mind to the duck other than to shake their heads wearily at her, not noticing her nip at the ankles of some of their fellows as they passed. Those who were bitten were surprised later that night to find feathers fall to the ground as they absently scratched their heads and muttered incomprehensible phrases, giving their companions foul, hungry stares as they drifted to sleep.

"Hello, my name is Phantom McPhantomPants. You threatened my village. Prepare to die."

--or--

Top ten signs Phantom should use his brain before using his hands. That's what she said.

--or--

"I told you, never trust a monkey! (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WAIZebROgNY&feature=related) (Erm, duck!)"

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The Phantom crept through the dusty room, stepping over the bodies of several sleeping Downers. One in particular caught his eye, a young girl who appeared to have feathers growing out of her head.
“I've heard of these types,” he muttered under his breath, “infiltrating the escapee groups only to lead the Dark Lord right to us. Well, we'll see how she handles the great Phantom.”
He snuck to the door, nudging her leg, and she stirred slightly, waking just enough to hear him call her name. She hesitantly made her way to the door, seeing him half hidden in the shadow of the door posts, a portion of his face illuminated by the sliver of moon that was out that night.
“What do you want?” she whispered impatiently, picking an odd feather out of her hair.
“I know what you are,” the Phantom replied, “and you have no place here. Leave now and there won't be any trouble.”
“You're just jealous of my sig, aren't you?”
“Of course not,” he shot back. “Okay, maybe a little, but that's not the point. You don't belong here, and no one wants you. Which is to say I don't want you, and I'm the important one, so get out.”
The young woman turned her head back to see her pet sleeping soundly where she had been laying. The little creature let out a contented quack and rolled over. The girl smiled then turned back toward Phantom, her face now bearing significant traces of confusion. “If I leave, they'll find me,” she told him.
“Oh, but I know that's what you want. You want to sneak out at night and....and....go for a swim,” he finished weakly, not really knowing what were-ducks did in their spare time anyway.
“I don't know what you're talking about, but there's no way I'm walking out of the only safe place for miles. And why are you staring at my hair?” she hissed. “What's wrong with you? I'm not leaving, so you may as well shut up and leave me alone.”
“Okay,” he said with a sigh, “you leave me no choice.”
Before she could react the Phantom had whipped out a six-fingered sword. She began to wonder why he had a six-fingered sword in the first place when the man in front of her jabbed the blade into her chest. Her mouth dropped open in shock and horror, but as she slid to the floor the Phantom's smug grin faded and he knelt beside her.
“You....you aren't one of them, are you?”
“No, you idiot,” she replied on a gasp, but before he could respond (or apologize, though he hadn't planned on it anyway) she breathed no more. Sally was dead.
“Well, crap,” Phantom muttered. “There goes my perfect record.”
“Hardly,” a voice from behind him whispered. Phantom stood and turned, his eyes meeting with dripping fangs and a face and hands bearded with feathers.
“Well, crap again,” Phantom said, and the were-ducks pounced upon him.
“Quite fresh, this one,” one of the villains remarked, taking a chunk out of Phantom's leg.
“That's....what....she....said....”
The second baddie slit Phantom's throat, putting him out of his misery.
“Bloody fool.”
“Quite.”
“Breakfast?”
“Sounds lovely. I'll have the ham and some Sally over easy.”
“I don't know. Phantom's bad for your cholesterol.”
The duck had woken by now, and made her way over to her mistress's body, tracking her blood all over the floor. She nibbled Sally's toes, then crossed around to Sally's face and quacked dolefully in her ear. When Sally didn't react Mnemo looked up at the were-ducks.
“Dibs on her heart,” she quacked with a malicious grin, and her minions dragged the bodies outside and feasted until dawn.
Okay this is scary.
I think some lynching needs to be done in order for it to be quiet enough to even think.
NOT THAT PEOPLE WILL BE QUIET EVEN AFTER THEY'RE DEAD.
There is no way I'm going to be heard in this mess. Or seen. *sob*
I demand you heed me and my words!
So...anyone want to start postulating the possible roles involved here? You know you want to. What else is there to do, right? Day 1 and all that? (Riiight, and there's already 3 pages cause......)
Yeah well, I don't care if you want to. I'm going to. At least to divert attention from all these suspicious inside jokes, and get to some more useful not to mention interesting discussion.
Just a few possibilities:
There is at least one cobbler, and they are probably a lover. The seer's lover. It's so sordid.
If there's a werebear, they're a lover, also of the cobbler.
There are 6 wolves, 2 werebear lovers, 2 seers, 1 Grey Wizard, 1 ranger, 1 hunter, a wolf cobbler, a werebear cobbler, and a Grey Wizard minion.
Half comprise a wolf team, the other a good team with nightly hunting powers. So basically whoever votes first wins.
Actually, half of us are wolves, the other werebears
We're all wolves, just on different teams
There are no teams, though we all have various werecreature/gifted powers, and it's every man for him/herself.
I'm realistic. And not entirely trusting of our modduckess.
(An all encompassing :p for good measure...)
Sorry to be dreadfully boring, but I'm not exactly impressed with this game this far. Seven hours, 3˝ pages and 99% chatter. Kids, I'm disappointed with you. ;)
Anyway let's start talking SOMETHING (anything) more sensible. Durelin seems like the only one who's made an effort at anything, but then again, she probably did her analysis just as a parody. :rolleyes: And by the way why is it always me (or Nogrod ;)) who has to start the serious discussion?
I'd be inclined to think that at least one of the chatters is evil. Why? Because I can't believe that of half a dozen innocent souls no one would try to say anything sensible in three pages of posting. Seriously. I know bantering is a lot of fun and innocents can get caught up in it just as well as baddies, but one could imagine that if all these people are innocent, the odds that someone would start talking seriously are so high that this situation should not exist. Ergo, we have at least one duck here. If I had to bet, I'd say it's Mira. Just a gut feeling.
I don't know why Nerwen's messing things up. Not like her normal. Maybe she's a cobbler. (I wouldn't be surprised if we had several of those.)
Dury and Izzie seem the most innocent to me this far. Izzie because I kind of sympathise with her attitude and Dury because she's the only one who's been talking any sense.
* If there's a werebear, they're a lover, also of the cobbler.Most certainly. Except that you keep on insisting on the singular. With the sorts of Sally in charge, that is pretty much out of the question.
How do you... ? Oh never mind, this is a family asylum.
Well, it looks to me as if Fea and Phantom (in spite of his pining for the fjords) have posting requirements; Durelin was ordered to spam us with statistics, Lommy was told to act like Nogrod, Nerwen to revisit her fangirl role, and Mac to act like me.
If this means anything, it means that they are all cobblers, making our wereducks Mira, Lari, Nienna and Brinn.
Several people have hinted quite blatently at being the seer, and therefore are probably evil: Nienna, Brinn, and Shasta.
Nienna and Brinn are doubly evil. They are probably wereduck lovers secretly plotting against the rest of their flock.
Or maybe all this is utter nonsense because all speculation is impossible at this point.... who knows..... :eek:. By toMorrow, those of us still alive will probably be considerably wiser. For instance, we don't even know how many deaths there'll be tonight.
Bla bla bla.
I think some lynching needs to be done in order for it to be quiet enough to even think.
NOT THAT PEOPLE WILL BE QUIET EVEN AFTER THEY'RE DEAD.
I agree with the first part. Sooooo much talking. My brain hurts.
Instead of lynching youtube, shall we not just lynch everybody who posts youtube links?
I agree with this also.....I mean, oops....there is sooooo not a youTube link in my post, what are you talking about?? :p
K, now seriously, wow people. So I'm seeing the most logic coming from Durelin, Lommy and Rikae. So I'm re-reading those posts again.....ok done.
So I agree that atleast one of the chatters (who I see as being: Brinn, Mira, Lari and Nienna, the most) are evil, if not more then one. So I'll be keeping a close eye on thems.
I also agree that there is more then one cobbler, just because Sally seems to be like that. For all we know there may be like 8 cobblers and then Sally just picks a random person to die every Night, leaving no actual were-ducks, haha, that would be evil. Or half of us are were-ducks and the other half are all lovers with a were-duck, that too would be evil. Or there is only one were-duck who gets like 4 kills a Night....so many possibilities, it's quite interesting. This will be fun...
Since there are many who still haven't posted I'm not gonna post a list right now, depite the 4 pages of posts there isn't actually a lot to go on :rolleyes:.
So I'll be around all day here and there to participate in what ever discussions will occur, and hopefully we get lucky toDay.
Everyone play nice now!
Oh, and I'm quite excited about Nilp playing, I remember him being quite a lot of fun.
Clearly we are a trio of were-librarians...I feel an idea for a WW game coming on...
Or we were all hanously bored at work so we kept going on this. Or two of us where hanously bored, goaded on by the third and one of us actually has to post banter and nothing else. You don't know. Maybe all of us have to post only banter and nothing serious.
*dies*
Now in all seriousness I do have some thoughts: I think Fea is restricted to one line posts and she already goofed when talking about her art project. As for how many different things we have I think we have at least more than one Hunter, Ranger, and Seer. There might even be secret Lovers(I seem to remember that in a Lovers game there were secret Lovers). There might even be a good cobbler(it is possible, behavior modification everyone).
As for taking what people post...we were given instructions on how to post and how to act. They could be totally against what we would normally do. Who knows what horrors some have been given? For all you know Nienna, Mira, and I were given the task on Day 2 to start a word association game with rules as follows: every word has to start with the letter p. And those are the only rules. Am I right? I'm not saying.
I'm going to go hunt up some food and then meander over to the library to die of a paper. Which actually translates to meander over to the library and pretend to work on paper and refresh this page way to often.
Let's not pretend to be dummier we are. You all know these things.
It is important to note that everyone in this game will have a role. These may be gifteds, modified baddies, or even tricked out ordos, but no one will receive a PM that simply says "You are an ordo. Have fun!" This game is, as the title implies, intended to be an individual mind trip for all those involved, and will require you all to think outside the box in terms of how you normally approach Werewolf.
With that in mind, you will each receive personalized PMs detailing your obligations and/or role for the game. Some will be fun things for you to do or contain information about Daily challenges you must complete, while others will be highly specific and may contain the moddess synopsis of your playing style/memes.So any such claims as "X is so different this time" are basically invalid.
And everyone of us is a keeper of something special be it a role, tasks to fulfill, knowledge, goals...
Dury sure looks like she has been appointed to be our statistics-person - but there was also an interesting possible slip in her post. She speculates about the roles we have here and gives a list possibilities: Just a few possibilities:
There is at least one cobbler, and they are probably a lover. The seer's lover. It's so sordid.
If there's a werebear, they're a lover, also of the cobbler.
There are 6 wolves, 2 werebear lovers, 2 seers, 1 Grey Wizard, 1 ranger, 1 hunter, a wolf cobbler, a werebear cobbler, and a Grey Wizard minion.
Half comprise a wolf team, the other a good team with nightly hunting powers. So basically whoever votes first wins.
Actually, half of us are wolves, the other werebears
We're all wolves, just on different teams
There are no teams, though we all have various werecreature/gifted powers, and it's every man for him/herself. The bolded one kind of jumps up from there as an ordo (or any non-duck/wolf) would know that because of herself not being one the whole option of all being wolves is not possible. A wolf doesn't know that of course and might speculate on it...
I also agree that there is more thAn one cobbler, just because Sally seems to be like that. For all we know there may be like 8 cobblers and then Sally just picks a random person to die every Night, leaving no actual were-ducks, haha, that would be evil. Or half of us are were-ducks and the other half are all lovers with a were-duck, that too would be evil. Or there is only one were-duck who gets like 4 kills a Night....so many possibilities, it's quite interesting. This will be fun...
You know, that would *just* be the thing that Sally would do.
However, there is only one type of villager who would come up with something like this (there are no wolves!) at this point: a cobbler!
Also, Brinn, Miri, and Nienna are obviously cobblers.
There might even be a good cobbler(it is possible, behavior modification everyone).
And back - that took a lot less time than I'd thought . . .
Well first off I think we need to lynch phantom. Just how many times is he going to get away with being killed and then just being able to pop back up on the thread? For all we know it’ll turn out he wins if everyone ignores him for the rest of the game and then he murders us all.
Really the whole of first page just banter.
As is the second.
More on the third.
End of the banter as Durelin pops us and does the one thing that will make her look suspicious – actually thinks about the game. Perhaps she has been given the task of analysing everything, perhaps she is just bored of reading nothing but either way it was going to stand out.
No I was wrong, more banter, though there does seem to be more useful stuff from now on.
Lommy is the second person to try and make sense – some suspicion of Mira and Nerwen. Thinks Durelin and Izzy seem innocent. And then there was a crosspost –was it Mira she was saying was a Cobbler?
Wilwa sees Durelin, Lommy and Rikae as the most logical, but logical doesn’t equal innocent. Thinks one of Mira, Lari, Brinn and Nienna are likely to be evil due to the chattering.
Lari – some interesting thoughts there.
Nog – interesting thought about Durelin but I think she was just listing everything.
Mac is listing Cobblers.
As much fun as this game is I can sense we might have some problems with figuring out anything very helpful! It seems that people are focusing on that little group of chatterers which might be a good idea. One of them more than likely has been told to be noisy but I doubt all of them would have been given the same instruction.
You call me a cobbler but still go with my 8 cobbler theory, haha....I think we're all totally mixed up. :rolleyes:
Anyways, I only have about 3.5 more hours before I need to go to work, then when I come back I'll only have 1 hour to vote and such before I need to sleep. So I want this to get a bit more exciting please. :)
Once there's been an entire Day and Night phase we should have more to go on. But for now what we should be able to establish is:
There are atleast 3 were-ducks, with a game this size it makes no sense to have less, not fair odds, could maybe be more though
I think we can assume there is a seer, though Sally probably messed around with the role, I don't think I've seen too many games that have taken out this role
There is probably a hunter or ranger, if not both at least one, and they too are probably decked out with some crazy extra ability, though I'm sure there's a chance they were left out completely
There is atleast 1 cobbler, but I think we've all suggested that there is probably more then 1, just cause it's a crazy role that is known to cause problems and, well, it's Sally
Lovers, probably, and it probably isn't a normal pairing
So besides that I don't think there's much more we can establish, correct me of course if you disagree. Wouldn't surprise me if there are made up roles, but we shouldn't sit around trying to guess them. And if there's like a were-goose or something we won't know until there's been a Night phase and we see how many deaths there are.
So ya, I wouldn't suggest we dwell on this too much though, it being Day 1 we don't have a lot to go on. I saw we just kinda go with the flow, see what our Moddess throws at us and just have fun with it!
Lari, that's an interesting idea. What would a good cobbler do, I wonder?
I was thinking something along the lines of being a tricked out ordo. Like getting three votes worth of power because they are trying to help the good side win actively and such. That would be my only guess. I just thought of it as an interesting idea and I'm clearly not intelligent enough to come up with what one would actually do.
I'd be inclined to think that at least one of the chatters is evil. Why? Because I can't believe that of half a dozen innocent souls no one would try to say anything sensible in three pages of posting. Seriously. I know bantering is a lot of fun and innocents can get caught up in it just as well as baddies, but one could imagine that if all these people are innocent, the odds that someone would start talking seriously are so high that this situation should not exist. Ergo, we have at least one duck here. If I had to bet, I'd say it's Mira. Just a gut feeling.
Quite. I think it makes sense that at least one of the people is a wolf. It would be easier to determine if everybody were not saying nonsense all the time.
This is definitely good to keep in mind - I think it's a good general assumption, though after tonight we might need to add in a werebear.
I was thinking something along the lines of being a tricked out ordo.
That is an interesting idea, though I don't think we should dwell on all the possibilities. If we have some tricked out anythings (ordos, seers, rangers, etc.), we should let them do their work and hope it helps us. Or just let them have their fun and let all be revealed most dramatically at the end of the game.
It seems that people are focusing on that little group of chatterers which might be a good idea.
Really I don't think that's such a good idea. Wolves can easily keep their mouths shut if they're worried about drawing too much attention. Now, has it so far been easy to just kinda mingle and be forgotten? Yes. It's Day 1, we're at full numbers, and even the dead are filling up the thread.
I love how the most thinking we've done and conclusions we've come to is regarding who has what posting assignments/restrictions.
Btw, I think we have a grumpy Nilp on our hands. He might well vote for someone other than himself. :eek:
Just a quick question though I know we should move on from discussing the roles...
So, lovers. If one dies, the other dies. In the past I believe they were usually between a werecreature and a non-werecreature, but is that actually usually the case? And if so, then is the werecreatures lover essentially akin to a cobbler even if they are not specifically the 'cobbler'?
Unfortunately I have to run. Sorry to leave everyone with that, basically adding to the confusion, but I don't remember the last time I played in a game involving lovers.
Well, it could be that it is a were-duck and ord coupling but the ord in the relationship doesn't know that her lover is evilness. That way she would be innocent but technically would be helping to keep a were-duck from being lynched, so like a cobbler by proxy. That's one possibility. Or, two ducks could be lovers, be able to PM at all times, and if we lynch one then the other goes down too. Or just two goodies, like a gifted and an ord, or two gifteds or two ords. There's lots of combinations.
Durelin's reply to Nogrod's point strikes me as fishy (Nogrod is just Nogrod... eh?).
I'm a bit queasy about the recent lovers discussion. There might be the possibility of "blind lovers", who have to guess their partner's identity. Same with the cobbler discussion before. I can see secret messages flying left and right.
If so, essentially, yes. However, I think it may not be the case, like you say - we can surely have other lovers as well.
I can see you flying left and right here, so watching you. (And also accusing people who are discussing, completely legitimely - I hope - that.) But the idea of "blind lovers" is also not as impossible, even though in this setting it would be quite hard role to play.
What else is not new. :rolleyes: ;)
(And also accusing people who are discussing, completely legitimely - I hope - that.)
Well, this game is sort of slowed down. The banter phase took three pages, and now we're in the rules-and-roles discussion of questionable value. It's legitimate for sure, but your immediate and strong defense, well...
But the idea of "blind lovers" is also not as impossible, even though in this setting it would be quite hard role to play.
Now this is most peculiar. The most straightforward way to identify your lover, and have your lover identify you, is to talk about the lover role in general. I raise a point against it, and you give a half-hearted "it's not impossible" along with "it would be really hard to play". You see right above there how easy it can be played, possibly, so the first part of that statement is fishy and the second false.
Does this make you guilty? No. You might be a lover, but the problem is: there's no telling of what sort, and blindly lynching lovers is the path to defeat. I'm watching you, too, though.
though we have yet to see if he must be a 'quiet' Nogrod. I thought that would spark at least some amusement if not a theory or two.It's so sad to disappoint people but my orders / guidelines didn't mention anything about posting a lot or a little. I've just had a terrible 11-hour working-day. So I may be making a few posts in the near future after I stick myself to this. :)
Just a meta-comment before I start looking backwards a bit more closely. Even if it is legitimate, I don't see there being a host of reasons to discuss the possible roles there are on Day1 too extensively in a game where everyone has a role of sorts and not all roles are even known.
But if you have nothing else to go for let's then rather discuss the guidelines / orders different people may have. It looks like a good guess that Dury needs to produce tallies or statistics - and that Fea has been told not to banter (that would explain why she complained her assignment being so hard: her friends having fun-banter to no end and she was not allowed to join it!). But not all guidelines concern themselves with the "playing-style" of the player. Well, mine doesn't. I have been told of different kind of requirements.
I'm not sure if we should talk openly about our own guidelines / orders as I feel it would be a bit against the spirit of the game at least this early (and surely anyone can claim anything) - but we should be able to speculate over that of other players as it might help us in making up our minds when voting - that we don't vote for people for reasons that have to do more with the ModDuck's orders than the lynchee's possible role. What I mean is "let's lynch Fea because she doesn't banter in this game" would be a bad reason to lynch her in this game - at least before something more enlightening comes to the fore. Which doesn't say we shouldn't lynch her in principle... :D
Having better grasp on these guidelines / orders everyone has to obey we could in the best case avoid some stupid lynches.
Btw. I find Rikae's comment here interesting if not even a bit troubling: I feel a bit left out, since I don't have any special posting requirements. :(Compare it with this...
you will each receive personalized PMs detailing your obligations and/or role for the game.Hmm...
and my brain hurts from all of the 'meta' role discussion that's going on. It seems to me like all the posting that has been happening toDay might make a lot more sense in the future. This is my first actual game but i've watched and lived vicariously through my roommates in WW for like ever so i do have a little experience and Day one posts never really seem to make sense and especially in this game because no one really knows anything. There wasn't even a Night phase so we can assume the seer is equally uninformed.
I'm going to post before I have to refresh again and see a new page. xD
I think Nerwen is definitely a cheerleader for her task, as someone else mentioned.
Yes, to what use would working out whom has a posting requirement?
It could help distinguish the ones who actually have them, and the ones who are trying to look like they have one. I'm not sure how it works here with posting requirements - as in what the normal is. But elsewhere I've played, I don't think I ever saw a baddie with a posting requirement. I think for the most part, because they always draw quick attention, and you can even get lynched depending on the level of annoying-ness.
If we lynch the people whom are acting normal, well who would that be? That would be a pool of one or two, me thinks. Better to lynch the youtube affiliates I would say.
I've never played or watched a game with lovers. How does it work? Do they know who the other is or do they have to figure it out? Someone said something earlier about if one dies the other goes with xem... Or does it all depend on the individual game?
Nog why is it troubling about Rikae's mention of no posting requirement? It doesn't say everyone will have one. Just that everyone will have a role. Role and requirement of posting, are not the same.
I think Shasta is not able to say anything relevant to the game.
Rikae
Well, I would assume Sally gave the posting requirements out pretty randomly, and I doubt Izzy's assumption that they wouldn't be given to baddies is right. After all, in this game it's expected that people will act strangely.
Good call, Nog, on Fea not being allowed to banter - that fits.
I think for the most part, because they always draw quick attention, and you can even get lynched depending on the level of annoying-ness.But don't forget that not all posting requirements are such by nature that they can be executed at any time - or that they should be executed all the time.
Yes, to what use would working out whom has a posting requirement?
It could help distinguish the ones who actually have them, and the ones who are trying to look like they have one.I think Sally said it quite clearly that everyone will have some posting requirements. It is, I think, the whole clue to this game that we need to play something that is forced on us - whatever it is.
Looking at your confusion about this issue (thinking that some have requirements and others don't) just increases my slight suspicions on Rikae... and possibly you as well. Though to your credit it must be said you did not claim you had no requirements on your posting so you were not lying about it like Rikae did.
So the problem with Rikae is that she lied - and I can't see a reason a good gifted should have felt a need to make such a lie at that point in the game. Or then Sally has failed to give her the requirements she gave everyone else. :(
But if that "giving requirements" -stuff was the whole point of the game, I dare to doubt that possibility.
Page 3 - A couple of people mention their "assignments". I didn't get one. Woe is me.
Page 4 - Rise of the Durelin!
Also,
kthnx shasta u iz my frend 4 lyfe!!!111!!!
Translates to:
Okay, thanks, Shasta! You're my friend for life!
Also,
Really, does Phantom ever do a good job the first time?
...That's what she said. I know Durelin said it already but I wanted to reiterate. :)
Durelin is quite logical, what with all those lists...
Nerwen's posting requirement could be smileys.
Fea's could be one-liners?
Page 5
lyke omg! cans we be bffs?!!!!111?????//??!?
Sigh, another client.
Like, oh my goodness! Can we be best friends forever?
Lari also speculates some on roles.
translates to:
Yes! Please, please! Shasta is my best friend forever now, but, like, you can be too! Awesome!
Wilwa looks good to me.
So does Mira.
And Legate (wait, what?)
Hey, here's something.
Fish.
And then...
Durelin's reply to Nogrod's point strikes me as fishy
(bolding mine)
Mac's posting requirement could be to use a specific word posted by the moddess at some point during the day? I don't know, the word "fishy" just stuck out to me so soon after Mnemo posted for no reason. And it was Mac's first post after she posted.
Page 6 (so far)
Funny, Izzy. :P
Also, I'm getting a strange vibe from Nogrod. Why are you so insistent that Rikae lied about having a posting requirement? You yourself said you didn't have one. I can say with surety that I don't have one. Yet you seem to be starting to put suspicion on Rikae for something you yourself said, and I don't like that.
I think I'm quoting this same thing for the hundreth time but let me quote it more fully now and bold / underline some parts for you to take notice...
It is important to note that everyone in this game will have a role. These may be gifteds, modified baddies, or even tricked out ordos, but no one will receive a PM that simply says "You are an ordo. Have fun!" This game is, as the title implies, intended to be an individual mind trip for all those involved, and will require you all to think outside the box in terms of how you normally approach Werewolf.
With that in mind, you will each receive personalized PMs detailing your obligations and/or role for the game. Some will be fun things for you to do or contain information about Daily challenges you must complete, while others will be highly specific and may contain the moddess synopsis of your playing style/memes. (In advance, no offense is meant to anyone, except of course Phantom and Mith. All of you are fine people and fine players, but since I want to create utter havoc with your brains I first have to identify and disassemble the way you behave now in order to have my fun.I think that is quite plain talking?
I anm still slogging through the posts having had various technical issues but just on past experience, I don't know how significant a Rikae lie is... she is someone who likes to mix things up to get a reaction ..in someways a lie for her might be honest... since she might be more careful as a wrong-un ..unless of course self sacrifice is her mission. Anyway .. I suppse I should actually read her posts before commenting ..though that is liable to prejudice one so.. and is so much effort... though I see The Phantom has posted... a brief glimmer of light in my darkness...
Which is perhaps precisely what Rikae meant herself.
If we lynch the people whom are acting normal, well who would that be?
As if Mnemo is here to give us good advice anyway?
There wasn't even a Night phase so we can assume the seer is equally uninformed.
Oh yeah, I had forgotten there was no Night. So absolutely everyone's come in blind, though I assume the wolves at least were told who their companions were as part of the role assignment. Though that would make this quite a Day if there were not. :D
Durelin's reply to Nogrod's point strikes me as fishy (Nogrod is just Nogrod... eh?).
That particular comment was responding to his posting style in general. The rest was about his comment on my damning 'possibility'. That was not at all clear, I know, I know.
Feanor of the Peredhil - I'll be sad if she can't banter. Fea-banter makes the game for me. :(
Brinniel - I always think she's innocent. *slaps self* Gotta stop doing that...
wilwarin538 - Looks pretty innocent to me.
Shastanis Althreduin - Obviously a Werebear/Werewolf/Wereduck/Werehotairballoon. LYNCH!
Mirandir - Very floaty, our Mira. But if she's evil, she's suicidal. I feel good about her.
Durelin - Speaks sense. I think she's innocent.
Nogrod - Will probably get my vote today. See above post.
Isabellkya - No read.
Nerwen - Berry berry bouncy. But she could be a bouncy wolf. Otherwise, no read.
Rikae - I think she's innocent. But then again, much like Brinn, I always think she's innocent. *sigh*
Mith - Grey Queen Mith! otherwise no read.
Kath - No real read, other than she's on the "serious" side of the fence and strikes me as innocent for being there.
Lari - Chattery. Wolfish? Maybe. No read.
Mac - I always think Mac's evil, but, no read.
Nienna - I'll give her a day.
Gwathagor - No read.
Thinlómien - Serious side of the fence. Otherwise, no read.
Legate of Amon Lanc - Leaning innocent.
Actually, I think Nogrod is right. I lied about a lack of posting requirements. After all, having posting requirements when people think you don't means that they will assume your odd behavior is cobblery and... er... lynch you... which is just what I want. :p And what Shasta wants, too, which is why he said he didn't have them either. And Nogrod too (originally typed "Nogod" :D). I also only get mad to manipulate people, because I'm unsporting like that.
Actually, it's just what I *would* want, if I was a cobbler; but if I was a cobbler, you wouldn't want to lynch me. All in all, Nogrod seems a little overeager to accuse; experienced as he is, he ought to know better (and that goes for his earlier words about the "slip" so and so made, as well - since several people said things like "maybe we're all wolves/cobblers/ordos" at that point, it was clearly not meant seriously.)
Well, enough ranting.
I don't think he seems very sinister, just like he's trying to stir things up. Perhaps specifically against Rikae for a reason?
Rikae seems quite normal. Fairly belligerent. :p
I am agreeing a lot with Shasta and Lommy.
Nogrod and Mac seem like they're trying (Nogrod seems to be trying quite hard) to do some poking at people.
Kath and Izzy seem to be trying very hard to do some traditional suspecting.
Basically some people seem to be trying a little too hard to do...something. That could have to do with their assignments, but it also could still have to do with their roles.
With that in mind, you will each receive personalized PMs detailing your obligations and/or role for the game. For some reason I've been thinking that we will receive various assignments or obligations throughout there game, but there is nothing that says that. Darn, lol. I wonder how many of us will keep up with our assignment throughout the entire game...I don't know if this is a bad game to get lynched/killed on day/night 2 or 3...
Haha. Here we go again! :)
Also, I'm getting a strange vibe from Nogrod. Why are you so insistent that Rikae lied about having a posting requirement? You yourself said you didn't have one.No I didn't. Read the thread. I said I had a different obligation to fulfill than "be loud", "be silent", "make lists", "do not banter"...
Interestingly enough Dury comes to speculate on that very issue immediately, even lending the part of my post you should have read Shasta. But not all guidelines concern themselves with the "playing-style" of the player. Well, mine doesn't. I have been told of different kind of requirements.Which is perhaps precisely what Rikae meant herself.Now this is interesting in itself as well. I know people may talk on behalf of others but this looks a bit fishy, like a rush to defend someone indeed. Somehow the wording of it makes me suspect it even more; perhaps precisely? Now if you just shoot in the dark not knowing what's going on you don't use a word like "precisely" for someone else's intentions...
Also Dury says: Durelin's reply to Nogrod's point strikes me as fishy (Nogrod is just Nogrod... eh?).
That particular comment was responding to his posting style in general. The rest was about his comment on my damning 'possibility'. That was not at all clear, I know, I know.You have really fine antennas to respond to someone's posting style when that person had only done one short post to comment on in the first place. And from that one post you were able to say that I'm trying too hard and am bad... But you said there also that I am my normal self (Nogrod is just Nogrod) and we all know that was a bit different post from me if you compare it with these latter ones I've done after it (I was in a hurry and was only able to make the one point back then). So it wasn't too earnest, was it?
Nog, what you quote from the admin thread pretty clearly says "roles and/or requirement".I indeed saw it as I was copy-pasting it this time - and had to think for a moment whether I was mistaken and should just pull back all I had said on the issue. But if you look at that quote more closely you should see that Sally clearly meant there was to be requirements for all to do things they wouldn't usually do (I bolded a host of parts from that quote to make that interpretation clearer). Look and see for yourselves.
I think this - added to the other things in her post - is the most important one: will require you all to think outside the box in terms of how you normally approach Werewolf
And this time those posting on the first four can not say they made this discussion possible as they didn't (except a few individual posts that stood out from there miles away). :rolleyes:
And just as this is getting interesting some people wish to start talking about preferable ways of dying... distracting a process of inquiry, suspicion, answers, forced bluffs - what this game is all about!
And what is this then?He seems a bit desperate to control the suspicions in this game.Hah. Show me someone else who has suspected anyone with any grounds so far (not including the reactions how some have started suspecting me because of what I have said - and which Shasta's promise and your vote just underline)! Innocent
Thinlómien - innocent as a vegetable
Feanor of the Peredhil - seems like an ordo with painful requirements
Shastanis Althreduin - the same
Durelin - ordo with nice posting requirements
Nogrod - almost only one making sense this far
Lari - looks innocent despite all banter
Ok
wilwarin538 and Isabellkya - weirdly enough, I keep mixing them up in this game, and don't have much to say for or against
Nerwen - can't read her, could be an ordo with fangurl requirement or a wolf hiding behind a fangurl pretense :rolleyes:
Rikae and Mac - both don't bother and do bother me at the same time
Nienna - gets the newbie free pass for today
Mithalwen - no idea
Gwathagor - under the radar
Legate of Amon Lanc - is weirdly silent but otherwise ok
Suspicious
Brinniel - should have the sense not get stuck on bantering
Mirandir - too chatty (I doubt sally would have made someone just allowed to chat, ergo Mira = cobbler or wolf)
Kath - has a sly manner, just, can't phrase it any better
Nilpaurion Felagund - looks like a wolf that is trying to hide
If we have to be different ..I suppose that means NOT lynching Gwathagor day one, me not voting Nogrod for the hell of it.. *sigh*
Actually, I think they did provoke discussion. At least i started suspecting them and still do.So can you pinpoint someone from there? So you suspect all the four-five? Whom would you choose from there?
They provoked discussion in a sense that lots of people said that was waay overboard and toilsome to read - but did it give something to pick up upon on someone in special?
I don't think it did. So was it of any good for the game? No. Was it something that helped us to go after a baddie? No. Was there something they said that someone could pick from there and start making a case? No.
All the reasonable discussion eg. "playing this game" has come afterwards and could have been done without those four first pages (not including the few posts I already mentioned erarlier).
How much I may suspect some people I might be tempted to vote for someone only talking nonsense toDay. And especially in this kind of a game which is already crazy enough without us making it even more unfathomable by just talking nonsense!
I still don't think that whether or not someone has a posting requirement is indicative of evilness.Neither do I. If everyone, good and bad alike (and all in between if htere be such persons) have requirement then of course having a requirement on you is not a mark of evil... And I know it also from my personal experience: I have posting requirement and am an ordo. Where did you get that idea from?
As I've already said, I don't have one; neither, apparently, does Rikae. So you're wrong in stating that everyone has one. Everyone should have one? Possibly, but that's an argument you'll have to take up with our dear Modduck.Now whether you are a wereduck who tries to help his mate or a cobbler seeing a chance of helping a duck by that (untrue) statement - or whether Sally has made a mistake, or I have misinterpreted the basic idea of this game wrong... well these are all possibilities.
Re-reading the rules makes me still stick to my interpretation of them - that everyone, all, had to do something different this time eg. not play only as they themselves would play but to be required to do something else as well. Why else would there be all those countless reminders of how she would wish to meddle with all of us and how everyone would have to step out from their normal approach to the werewolf if some people just were plain ordos?
I just don't believe it.
Everyone has EITHER a role OR some kind of posting requirement. Most have both, but not everyone does. Some people's role dictates how they behave, while others have....well, let's just say cracked out instructions. The point of the game was that no one was just a standard role or an ordo who could float through the game.
And please stop telling people if you don't have a posting requirement/that you do and what it is. Posting requirements (such as volume level or other crap) have nothing to do with a person's role and are just to make the game more random. The fact that someone does or does not have a posting requirement has no bearing on their alignment.
That is all. Well, not quite, but I must pop out for a second, so that's all for now.
Ooh and there we have the first real misunderstanding of the game! It does seem to be due to the language barrier again I think - there wouldn't have been half such a strong reaction if Nogrod hadn't used the word 'lie'. Lets just watch that a little. :)
Now I have to vote soon because I need to get to bed. I'm going to have a wander through the thread, see if I can think of anything.
My only comment right now is that I'm a little worried about a Day 1 vote for Gwath. I know his playing style is irritating but how many times has he been lynched early recently - if we're giving newbies a bit of leeway I think we should do the same for him.
I'm thinking something similar about Nog actually. This time especially it seems suspicion against him is based around that unfortunate comment.
Lynch Gwath toDay and I'll modfire the lot of you. Only applies to toDay, but I'm sick of the poor kid lynched at the start of the game. He lives through the Day. (And no, I really won't modfire the lot of you, but I'd appreciate it if you don't kill him on the first Day.) Manage to lynch Phantom and I'll send you all cookies. ;)
That is all! *cheery face* Oh wait, I lied.
One of the people in our youth group just had a baby so tonight instead of having normal youth service we're going to go see her and her spawn. I shouldn't be gone past the deadline, but in case I am I'm trusting all of you to stop posting at 10pm and be good little minions until I get back. Just to let you know so you don't wonder why the Day's not being called.
K. THAT is all. Enjoy!
Oh now having just seen sally's post I want to vote phantom! I said we should earlier and now I have mod approval. :D And the promise of cookies!
Other than phantom I would be tempted to vote Brinn. Haven't seen a huge amount from her since all the randomness - could be due to RL stuff but not sure.
