Still no... keep going, you're all really close. Think hobbit. When someone gets it, ask if you want to know where the quote came from.
Samwise
08-10-2003, 04:51 PM
Dominic?
Luthien_ Tinuviel
08-10-2003, 05:09 PM
Now you have it! (That quote was from the Actors' Commentary on the FOTR EE, by the way. Billy is surprised that Dom knew how they made the Ring fall straight, and Dom replies with the quote I used).
Your go, Samwise! smilies/smile.gif

Ummm... Elijah Wood?
Eruwen

For some reason I was thinking PJ...don't know why.
(That quote was from the Actors' Commentary on the FOTR EE, by the way. Billy is surprised that Dom knew how they made the Ring fall straight, and Dom replies with the quote I used).
You know, I almost watched the Commentary yesterday. And now that you explain the scene, I know what you're talking about. If I had just watched it...aw, anyway.

Okay, new random guess: Ian McKellan!
Orofaniel

Is it Sean? smilies/wink.gif
Samwise
08-12-2003, 11:41 AM
Hm.
Oro, there were two Seans in the LOTR cast, So next time you might want to be more specific. Since it's neither of them, though, I'll just say, no. No one has it right, yet.
The actor here is talking about his character.
Luthien_ Tinuviel
08-12-2003, 11:57 AM
No clue. Um... Viggo Mortensen?
ElenCala Isil
08-12-2003, 12:51 PM
hmm.... taking a shot in the dark here... erm, Orlando Bloom?
Samwise

No one's right yet.
This person's character is not of the race of Man.

Woops, I totally forgot, sorry....I meant Sean Austin by the way.
Okey new guess: Cate Blanchett?? (don't know if I spelled it correctly)

John Rhys-Davies?
Samwise

S'okay, Oro.
Nope, not John-Rhys Davies...
The character first appears in FOTR.

08-12-2003, 06:18 PM
I was going to say Hugo Weaving, but now that I think about it, I think that is Dom! Cause I think I know where that quote is from now.

Samwise
08-13-2003, 04:42 PM
Hm. No...

The actor's character is spoken ABOUT in FOTR, but not spoken TO until TTT.

hmm, Andy Serkis?

DING!DING!DING!
It is indeed, ElenCala Isil! Go ahead and find yourself a quote to post! smilies/biggrin.gif
Luthien_ Tinuviel
08-13-2003, 07:58 PM
Hmm... I've never thought of Gollum as the type to "buuble up", uness that's meant in a bad way. Weird.
ElenCala Isil
08-13-2003, 09:40 PM
oh, Spiff! hmm... let's see...
This was the best costume I have ever worn!
Good luck! smilies/biggrin.gif
Samwise
08-13-2003, 11:02 PM
Mmm...I don't know so much about Gollum "bubbling up" either, unless Serkis was talking about when Gollum was in one of those Igor-ish "Oh, yes, Smeagol wish to please Master." kind of moods. As for the new quote...
Cate Blanchett?
ElenCala Isil
08-14-2003, 09:28 AM
"We promise to serve the master of the precious...we swears, we sears on....on... THE PRECIOUS!" maybe that was bubbling over?
Anyway, Nope. It was not Cate Blanchett
Eruwen
08-14-2003, 10:02 AM
Well, with the exclamation point at the end of the quote, I see the person saying this as very excited...yet maybe being sarcastic about it. I'm thinking a Hobbit boy...maybe...possibly Elijah Wood?
ElenCala Isil
08-14-2003, 10:10 AM
hmm, interesting theory... but Nope, it wasn't Elwood..
Eruwen
08-14-2003, 10:23 AM
I'm going to stick with my instinct, though I may be extremely wrong on my theory, and go with Dominic Monaghan.
ElenCala Isil
08-14-2003, 10:35 AM
Alas, it was not Dom.

Hi hi , sorry to guess so quickly, but it's Brad Dourif. By sheer luck I happened to read an interview with him not long ago. smilies/biggrin.gif
ElenCala Isil
08-14-2003, 11:42 AM
that was short-lived! yup, it was Brad Dourif smilies/biggrin.gif

I bet you this one will be even more short-lived: 'I was overwhelmed
Samwise

Not necessarily... smilies/wink.gif
Li'l Mr. Wood?
Evisse the Blue
08-14-2003, 05:14 PM
LOL - I was wrong, it was exceptionally short-lived.
You're right, of course, Samwise, it's Elijah. smilies/biggrin.gif
Samwise
08-14-2003, 05:21 PM
Hm. Go figure...
Well, this one may well be short lived, too, but I've been wanting to use it, (and maybe using it will get it out of my head) so:
"DAG NAB IT!"
Eruwen
08-14-2003, 05:40 PM
Hmm...well, I have seemed to be very wrong on pracically every guess I make, but here goes nothing...cause I don't seem to know which is very bad cause this is probably really easy. Anyway, was it Sean Astin?
Samwise
08-14-2003, 06:16 PM
Sorry, it was actually Brer Rabbit...j/k.
You're right, Eruwen. Find yourself a quote!
My QUOTE in full:
"You mean to tell me I can’t go to one of the premier film festivals in the world and see for myself how my work is received? DAG NAB IT…"
Eruwen
08-15-2003, 08:57 AM
I actually got it right? Really? I had no clue, so I went by what I knew about the person who posted the quote. smilies/biggrin.gif
Ok, here's the next one...
In my position, people are going to say you're an egomaniac whatever you do.
I'm not sure if this one will be easy or hard. I guess it just depends on how you read the quote really, and what person it makes you think about.
Luthien_ Tinuviel
08-15-2003, 09:17 AM
In my position, it makes me think of Christopher Lee. So that's my guess. smilies/smile.gif
Eruwen
08-15-2003, 09:58 AM
Good guess, from your position, but no. It's not. smilies/tongue.gif
ElenCala Isil
08-15-2003, 10:05 AM
hmm *hits self on head with squeaky rubber hammer* perhaps...this is a wild guess... Viggo?
Luthien_ Tinuviel
08-15-2003, 10:07 AM
Well, I'm sure it's one of the older and more famous actors... and it's bugging me, because I know I've heard it before. Argh...
I just had a raandom thought: Could it be Hugo Weaving? smilies/rolleyes.gif Why did I not think of this earlier? I'm pretty sure it was him talking about his experience as "Agent Smith", or something, although I'm not sure how that fits into LOTR... unless it was just a random comment on an interview or something. So anyway...
Evisse the Blue
08-15-2003, 02:58 PM
Following on the 'older and more famous actors idea': Ian McKellen? (he's certainly to be taken for an ego-maniac after all he's done smilies/rolleyes.gif )
Eruwen
08-15-2003, 03:28 PM
No, no, and no. Wow...is it possible that after all this time I might have found a hard quote? Oooohh....... smilies/evil.gif
Luthien_ Tinuviel
08-15-2003, 03:41 PM
Bernard Hill?
Eruwen
08-15-2003, 03:54 PM
No, not Bernard Hill. Hmm...let me think of a hint...
This male actor was talking about how people start being nice to you just because you become famous, and that he was always having to watch out for them. He said he knew who his real friends were though, so it wouldn't be that difficult of a task.
That's all I can say for now though for it is still early on...
Luthien_ Tinuviel
08-15-2003, 03:58 PM
No clue... Billy Boyd?
Eruwen
08-15-2003, 04:06 PM
Yeah, it wasn't really much of a hint was it? But it's all I could come up with at the moment.
Oh, right, no, it's not Billy.
Luthien_ Tinuviel
08-15-2003, 04:31 PM
Sean Bean?
ElenCala Isil
08-16-2003, 09:29 AM
I seem to remember reading a lot of interviews with Dom where he uses the word egomaniac or egotist and such, so I think I'll say Dom... though I'm probably utterly wrong.
Eruwen
08-16-2003, 10:54 AM
On the contrary, ElenCala, you are very much right. The whole quote is...
"Unfortunately, I've already become a bit wary. It's a horrible thing to say, but recently I've been conscious of some people who weren't necessarily my friends before getting in touch with me. My way of dealing with that is very tentative. I don't want to say anything to them in case I look like a bighead, but I don't particularly want to go out with them either. In my position, people are going to say you're an egomaniac whatever you do. They assume that with a film comes fame, money and girls, and there is a level of resentment about that."
Your go, ElenCala Isil! smilies/biggrin.gif
ElenCala Isil
08-16-2003, 12:40 PM
Wow, heh, I had a quote from an interview running through my mind that had the word 'egotist' by Dom, so... yeah... anyway...
Hmm, this is probably going to be extraordinarily short-lived... but I'll give it a shot anywho..
they have to spend hours blow-drying their hair and plaiting it.
Samwise
08-16-2003, 04:31 PM
Uh....Cate Blanchett? smilies/confused.gif
Horse-Maiden of the Shire
08-16-2003, 04:48 PM
Hmm. Sounds like the Elves are being talked about, so I'm going to guess Liv Tyler. And I am so sorry that I didn't reply to my quote a couple pages back, but I was at camp.
Eruwen
08-16-2003, 05:03 PM
and plaiting it.
What does this mean anyway?
Well, this guess probably is not worth anything because I think one of the previous guesses has it, so I'm going to say John Rhys-Davies.
ElenCala Isil
08-16-2003, 05:48 PM
Nope, sorry, not Cate, Liv or John.
Oh, and plaiting it is like braiding it...
Samwise
08-16-2003, 07:55 PM
That's why I guessed who I guessed because that's not exactly an American term.
So...Miranda Otto?
Luthien_ Tinuviel
08-16-2003, 08:04 PM
Well, the only other non-American actor with braided hair in the movie that I can think of right now is Orlando Bloom, so that's my guess.
ElenCala Isil
08-16-2003, 08:07 PM
hmm, nope, not Miranda or Orlando...
anyone need a hint?
Luthien_ Tinuviel
08-16-2003, 08:45 PM

08-16-2003, 09:26 PM
Hugo Weaving? He has braided hair in parts of the movie.
ElenCala Isil
08-16-2003, 09:57 PM
Nope, not Hugo.
Eruwen
08-17-2003, 07:30 AM
Ok then, who else has braided hair? Hmmm...possibly the guy who plays Haldir? I can't remember his name right now.
ElenCala Isil
08-17-2003, 09:49 AM
His name is Craig Parker... and that is correct!!!
The entire quote is:
Like a fish, but they don't like it because afterwards they have to spend hours blow-drying their hair and plaiting it."
which referred to elves ability to swim.

Hehehe... smilies/evil.gif ...You guys are gonna love me after this next one. smilies/tongue.gif I'm enjoying this because I just spent half an hour looking for this quote. I'm not sure how long this one will last, but hey, it'll be fun. smilies/biggrin.gif The quote is kinda long, but it wouldn't matter if I took anything out or not anyway because it doesn't give away who the person is. Well, here's the quote...
"We were rehearsing this scene and they wanted it to be 5 seconds long and I had to kill 5 orcs or something. Oh my God, so we tried to speed it up and I just got this guy in the thigh with the tip of my sword and he fell over in pain. He said 'It's fine, it's fine, man, it's fine.' So we did it again and I got him again..."
Hehehe smilies/evil.gif Go at it everyone!!!!

08-17-2003, 09:10 PM
I'm thinking maybe Bernard Hill.

08-17-2003, 09:14 PM
No again. Aw, this won't be as fun as I thought cause I don't have as much time as I wish I had. Ok, I'll give a clue or two...just cause I have a limited number of days though.
Clue #1:
This MALE character has never been used before, for all I know of, in the history of the Actor's Quotes thread...1 or 2. Hehehe. Doesn't that make you feel good? smilies/tongue.gif

08-18-2003, 02:15 PM

I have no idea if this had been done before - if it has, well, you'll most likely get it very soon. There it is: We were on the phone a lot...wondering when a helicopter was going to come and take us out.
The Saucepan Man
08-18-2003, 07:35 PM
Just to clear up a bit of confusion that occured a while back on this thread, the same rules apply in the Quotable Quotes Forum as apply in the Quiz Room (see Quiz Room Rules (http://forum.barrowdowns.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=5&t=000386)). So, you need to wait 10 days without a new question or confirmation to an answer before you can ask a new question. If you want to move the game on, then the best thing to do is to PM the question-setter. If that doesn't work, then I'm afraid that you just have to wait until the 10 days are up.

Here's the full quote in case you were wondering at its ambiguity: "We were travelling down by road from the top of the South island, from Wellington to Queenstown, and it's about a 10-hour journey, and it just happened that we had a lot of rainfall. The road we were on collapsed behind us and in front of us ...and we were stuck in this little place for a couple of days...me and Orlando Bloom. We were on the phone a lot wondering when a helicopter was going to come and take us out. "

Sean Astin
Ian McKellan
Christopher Lee
Billy Boyd
Dominic Monaghan
Viggo Mortensen
John Rhys-Davies
Elijah Wood
Sean Bean
So I will guess the only remaining member of the Fellowship... Orlando Bloom. And Mariska, I think we all agree that a clue would be very nice. smilies/smile.gif

We did worry a little bit, even after the success of the first film, that the second film might have a bit of a difficult time.Because, after all, it doesn't have a beginning and it doesn't have an ending. The story doesn't finish until Return of the King in a year's time. But the public has taken it to its heart, no doubt because they liked the first film so much.

Over the years I have made the effort to read and answer every piece of fan mail that I received. Lately, however, the volume of mail has increased significantly making it practically impossible to keep up with it all and to respond to each piece personally. Although I am grateful for the favorable response that those of us involved in the "Lord of the Rings" trilogy have had, it is simply become a bit overwhelming. I find that I have little or no time left for other pursuits and have little free time left for art projects or for spending time with friends and family.
