Sorry to be a little late on the comeback for another quote! I didn't have much time to look around, so it probably won't be very hard. Here goes!
I've got my feet, got my wig, got my ears, got my dirt...I'm ready to go.

Cheers!

Dominic Monahagn?

That would be Elijah Wood on the "Day in the Life of a Hobbit" special feature on disk two of the Appendices of the FOTR:EE DVDs. Go me. Sorry to show off a little there, but I had to prove that I knew exactly where the quote came from. smilies/rolleyes.gif

Elijah it is! Luthien, the turn is yours! ( Next time, maybe I'll have more time to sniff out a difficult one, but I had that one memorized, 'cause I like it!) smilies/wink.gif

Cheers,
Lyta
P.S. I am a cheapskate and don't have a DVD player or any DVD's, but it is tacked on to the end of the 2nd VHS tape of FOTR:EE as well, and is the only one of those extra features I've seen.

Okay, now what quote to use? I'll have to refer back to my list of quotes to use.....

Here goes: a completely random remark...

I love tea.

Samwise
01-21-2004, 04:04 PM
Eh...?

Sir Ian Holm?

How about Sean Astin?

Luthien_ Tinuviel
01-22-2004, 09:05 PM
Evisse's got it. It's something only an Englishman would really say at random. Apparently Dom was drinking tea during the TTT commentary.....

Gorwingel
01-23-2004, 12:20 AM
Gosh, I should have known that smilies/frown.gif
Actually now I remember hearing it!
It does most definitely sound like some random thing that only Dom would actually think of saying.

Ok - next quote: who, about whom:
I'd rather kiss a horse.

Lyta_Underhill

Billy again! smilies/biggrin.gif (That crazy hobbit is always amusing!)
Cheers!
Lyta
P.S Forgot to answer the second part: about Viggo, when asked what other parts he'd like to play...he said Arwen, 'cause she gets nice frocks and gets to lie down a lot...but he'd have to kiss Viggo, and ...you know the rest!

Thanks, Evisse! Although, Luthien's quote was a doozy, hobbit or no! I say that myself sometimes, and I'm not even British! Now for a new one:
...the older I get, the more certain I am of the presence of evil, and sometimes I -- no, that’s not true. I do believe in the existence of good -- manifest good.

Viggo?

Luthien_ Tinuviel
01-23-2004, 08:11 PM
That sounds suspiciously like something Sean Astin would say.... Although I doubt that we'd be continuing our recent Astin-quote mania, but you never know.....

Luthien's quote was a doozy, hobbit or no!

Was it? I'm strrangely flattered.

Christopher Lee?

By the way, not all of us Brits are die-hard tea drinkers. I loathe the stuff myself. smilies/tongue.gif

Lyta_Underhill
01-23-2004, 11:09 PM
Sorry, not Chris Lee either! Anyone want a hint?
Saucepan Man, I understand about the odd man out on the drink preferences. I'm one of the few people I know who HATE most commercial soft drinks, especially Coca-Cola. Jasmine or Green Tea is my favorite, though. Oddly enough, a cup of hot green tea is most refreshing after 8 hours of working out in summer heat.

This bit of tea trivia brought to you by Lyta Underhill, who heartily recommends 4 o'clock teatime, just because that's the time that energy wanes and my endless hobbit appetite reasserts itself...

This wasn't supposed to be a treatise on tea, now was it? Anyway, not Chris Lee, not Viggo, not Sir Ian McKellen, nor Sean Astin.

Finally, the hint that will narrow it down: it is one of the Fellowship.

Cheers!
Lyta

John Rhys-Davis, then?

Actually, I love Coca-Cola, but my dentist has forbidden me to drink it. smilies/frown.gif And red wine too. Then again, I'm ignoring that second bit. smilies/wink.gif

Evisse the Blue
01-24-2004, 05:20 AM
it's Elijah

(oh, and I'm a tea lover myself! smilies/smile.gif )

Saucepan Man has it! It was John Rhys-Davies in an interview for hollywoodjesus.com . The entire thing can be found here: John Rhys-Davies Interview (http://www.hollywoodjesus.com/lord_of_the_rings_interview.htm)
Cheers!
Lyta

P.S. If I went to a dentist, I'm sure he or she would forbid all the coffee and tea I drink and all the sugar I put in them...so I don't go! smilies/wink.gif And I prefer hard cider in the line of harder beverages...red wine is too much for me, usually! smilies/eek.gif (Funny how this is turning into the "what'll you have?" thread as well as the Actor's Quotes Quiz thread! smilies/biggrin.gif

So much fun! I've actually had high tea before. Scones and all. Even though I'm not a Brit. So I can honestly say that it's a custom I admire very much. The English should be commended for finding a reasonable way to squeeze another meal into the day. smilies/wink.gif

And I must admit, I love tea, too. Green tea with no sugar. I'm kind of weird that way, I get it from my mom. But any kind of tea's cool, as long as it's not pear vanilla or something unearthly weird like that.

But my favorite drink would have to be water. Anyway, I'm looking forward to the next quote, Saucepan Man.

Ah, tea - as in the meal. Well, that's different. I'm a great fan, only I have it with coffee. smilies/rolleyes.gif If you're ever in the West Country of England (Devon/Cornwall), I would heartily recommend trying a cream tea. smilies/cool.gif smilies/smile.gif

Professionally they are both mavericks. Their prime aim is to work well on worthwhile projects. They do not suffer fools, even though they are themselves brilliant fools, clowns.
Extra points to the one who guesses not only the speaker, but the two being spoken of! smilies/wink.gif (Not that I have any way to give "extra points")!

Cheers,
Lyta

Eruwen
01-27-2004, 01:11 PM
Well, the only two I can think that someone would join into the same category would be Chris Lee and Ian McKellen, but as for who said it...I'm lost. Possibly Dom? He says "brilliant" a lot.

Samwise
01-27-2004, 06:12 PM

I'm thinking a "serious actor" (if you get what I mean...) Ian McKellen?

Lyta_Underhill
01-27-2004, 07:18 PM
Sorry, Eruwen, Samwise, the speaker is not Dom, nor is it Sean. The two spoken about are not Ian McKellen and Christopher Lee, nor are they Dom and Billy. EDIT: zb swooped in and got it right, after I had already posted! The speaker is indeed Sir Ian McKellen! (Now, who is he talking about?) Anyway, the turn goes to zb, no matter what now! But those extra points are waiting! smilies/wink.gif

Cheers,
Lyta

P.S. I love the idea of the "standard answer", Samwise! That's one reason I decided NOT to use a Sean quote I came upon earlier... I knew you guessed Sean as a matter of course! I couldn't make it TOO easy! smilies/tongue.gif

We really have developed standard answers here.... Eruwen guesses Dom, Samwise guesses Sean A., or else I jump in and guess him before she gets here. smilies/biggrin.gif Then I take one of the other hobbits, and everyone else proceeds to guess the older actors who played men, rather than hobbits. Identifiable guessing trends. Weird. smilies/eek.gif

I'm thinking a "serious actor" (if you get what I mean...) I'm supposing you mean a seasoned actor with many years of experience under his belt. (EDIT: Just thought about this statement and realized that Elijah Wood has been acting as long as I can remember him being alive, so he'd qualify as well...I think I'm with you on this one, Samwise! )But Sir Ian can be very silly when he wants to be! Anyone have a guess at the two people he was referring to in the quote? (I know its zb's turn, but I'll tell soon if no one wants to guess... smilies/biggrin.gif

Cheers!

Okay, here's one:

The moment I cried at was when Aragorn kneels before the Hobbits.

(I don't *think* it's been used before in this game, if it has I can provide another or pass my turn on to the first person to tell me that my great memory isn't so great after all smilies/wink.gif)

***

Okay, about the 'serious' thing: Serious is the wrong word entirely. Forget that. It was what I wrote pre-9am. smilies/biggrin.gif

What I meant was that the bit about 'clowns' made me think of the role of the clown/fool in Shakespeare. And that the overall tone was that of an older person.

***

btw: a quick google search reveals who 'they' are, but I feel as if I shouldn't give it away since it's not a 'guess' per se. [blatant giveaway: If you want to know the answer, google the first sentence of the quote (in quote marks).]

Oh and Lyta - has anyone ever told you that you have a knack for picking the cutest Frodo avatars?? Why thank you, Evisse! I tend to like the "Shire Frodo" ambience, since many of my ramblings on the Barrowdowns are (pseudo)-intellectual exercises, and Frodo relaxing with a pipe, or sleeping on the statue at Amon Hen (which I could barely find the strength to let go!) give me that reflective look in my own estimation. (Another secret is that I modified and cropped the pic to a watercolor look to enhance this property.)

On another note, I wonder if Poison Ivy is just hanging back until we name every member of the cast before coming back with the final pronunciation? smilies/wink.gif

Aredhel Ar-Feiniel
02-12-2004, 09:38 PM
Darn Carlas beat me to it. Wasnt that interview with Miranda Otto in the Sydney Morning Herald about a year ago?

Lyta_Underhill
02-12-2004, 10:03 PM
Miranda it is! Carlas, the turn is yours!

Cheers,
Lyta

Carlas
02-13-2004, 02:41 PM
Thanks, I hope this one hasn't been done before...

Everybody was so tight-knit, so bonded together, that it felt almost like a low-budget movie where no one's doing it for the money.

Aredhel Ar-Feiniel
02-13-2004, 04:09 PM
Ok, um...

Sean Astin?

Carlas
02-13-2004, 04:33 PM
Nope, not Sean! Sorry!

Mad Baggins
02-13-2004, 04:54 PM
Why, thank you Lyta!

Hmm...let's guess Elijah Wood, precious! *gollum*

Carlas

Wow, I got it! Lucky! :)
I’ll never forget anything about Middle Earth. That’s part of my memory now so I won’t miss anything. It’ll always be there if I want to remember it. And then to watch it on the DVD, if I want to see that. Isn’t that lucky?

Ah, now that would be John Noble!

The other thread reached its limit so let's continue the game here!

Mad Baggins' quote is:
I’ll never forget anything about Middle Earth. That’s part of my memory now so I won’t miss anything. It’ll always be there if I want to remember it. And then to watch it on the DVD, if I want to see that. Isn’t that lucky?

And The Perky Ent has answered:
Ah, now that would be John Noble!

Eruwen
02-22-2004, 02:36 PM
Alright now, Mad Baggins', where are you? You posted on the 14th, and someone answered a pretty confident answer that same day. It is now the 22nd. How many days is that? 8? You don't have much more time before we will be forced to move on. Please reply!

Carlas
02-23-2004, 05:52 PM
I have just sent a PM to Mad Baggins so hopefully he(she?) will be posting soon!:)

The Perky Ent
02-24-2004, 02:27 PM
Please answer Mad Baggins! I think I was right and i'd hate for someone else to take over the thread...shoot! I just gave y'all an idea. MUST EDIT! NO TOO LATE! ALREADY POSTED! MUST DELETE SERVER...

Everdawn
02-26-2004, 02:46 PM
It has been over 10 days and Mad Baggins has not returned, do we wait longer or start up again?

Eruwen
02-26-2004, 07:56 PM
I think we should let Perky Ent continue with the next quote...since he/she is pretty confident of his/herself. What do you guys think?

Carlas
02-26-2004, 08:55 PM
Go ahead Perky Ent, the floor is yours!

The Perky Ent
02-27-2004, 12:46 AM
I'll tell you what I think, Eruwen. I'm a dude! Not a dudet, but a dude! So, on to start a new question! What will it be...ah yes! The quote is:
I remember in London when I saw the last three reels of the final film. I never cried so hard in my life

Now, get to work!

Ok, well, let´s continue (I hope this one hasn´t been posted before):

The Perky Ent

(Hooray to me for my 51st Post!!!!)

Everdawn

Yes, it was Orlando Bloom, when asked what was the dark side of Fame.

Iaurhirwen
03-16-2004, 01:39 PM
Oh yea! I'm psycic! I'm psycic! Or perhaps just psyco . . . . . I never really figured that one out. Anyhoo:

Yep, it is Orlando, summing up his last days in costume for a report in Newsweek. Your go Lyta.

Lyta_Underhill
03-19-2004, 06:31 PM
Thanks, Iaurhirwen! I decided to try something totally random, but maybe not too hard:
He was sending me a reading list of books on the Balkans -- 97 books.

Viggo Mortensen?

Iaurhirwen
03-19-2004, 08:06 PM

John-Rhys Davis

I don't know why, but the little hobbits in my head are telling me to say that!:D

Sean Bean... could be him..

If not him Bernard Hill?

Gorwingel

How about a different Sean... Sean Astin?

Eruwen
03-20-2004, 08:46 AM
Something is telling me to choose Christopher Lee. How about him?

Lyta_Underhill
03-20-2004, 09:50 AM
Not Sean A or B, Bernard Hill, nor Chris Lee...anyone want a hint? (If I can think of one), or do you want to keep on guessing?

Cheers!
Lyta

Iaurhirwen
03-20-2004, 11:05 AM
I'm going to go random again and guess Orlando.

Lyta_Underhill
03-20-2004, 12:17 PM
I'm going to go random again and guess Orlando.
Iaurhirwen, why is it that all your 'random' guesses and quotes turn out to be Orlando? ;) Sorry! It isn't a three-in-a-row sweep this time! Not Orlando...back to you in the studio!

Cheers,
Lyta (sillier and sillier still!) :D

Iaurhirwen
03-20-2004, 12:26 PM
No reason for it to be Orlando. I'm not a fan-girl and would resent being called that.

Also you would notice that my little voices told me JRD previously.

My logic actually on the Orlando guess is that it was possibly a three-in-a-row thing, because it is what somebody usually wouldn't do, and you were trying to trick somebody, even though it totally didn't even sound like him.;)

Sorry - I get a little defensive at times - comes from past experiences.

Anywhoo - being that nobody has yet guessed - Hint:( *pout, pout*

I suppose it comes from limited experience on my part! Many apologies! Didn't mean to insinuate Orlification on anyone here! ;) (By the way, I made up that word, I think...and you're right--that would be a good strategy!)

This quote was in reference to a 2001 movie (interview was in 2000) and this actor played one of a pair of siblings who were the focus of this film. The quote refers to the actor's preparation for the role.

Cheers,
Lyta

Everdawn
03-20-2004, 05:54 PM
Ok then that says Elijah, but im not entirely sure, either that or John Noble.

Lyta_Underhill
03-20-2004, 06:14 PM
I like how you manage to get in two guesses in a post, Everdawn! ;) However, it is neither Elijah nor John Noble! (It is in my basic nature to post Elijah quotes, but this time I went against the grain! You don't know how hard it was not to post the one about chocolate...anyway!) More guesses, and/or more hints?

Cheers!

I have a question, this movie, was it set in the balkans?

Everdawn
03-20-2004, 06:20 PM
I know who it is!! Marton Cosaks?

Lyta_Underhill
03-20-2004, 10:21 PM
have a question, this movie, was it set in the balkans? Partially--the other part is set in the American West, and it isn't Marton Csokas...good guess, though!

Cheers!

Everdawn
03-20-2004, 11:01 PM
This is depressing, i need another clue.

Gorwingel
03-21-2004, 01:45 AM
Here is a guess out of left field... Is it Craig Parker?

Oh and please don't give a clue. We will find the answer eventually. Even if we have to go through the enitre cast list from the DVD ;)

Lyta_Underhill
03-21-2004, 02:00 AM
Wow! I suppose the quote is hard! It isn't Craig Parker, either, Gorwingel, sorry! Another hint--the movie referred to in this actor's quote co-starred Joseph Fiennes. Good luck!
Cheers!
Lyta

P.S. Sorry, Gorwingel, I didn't see your plea for no clue, but this is the second clue, actually, so I suppose it was already too late! Perhaps I am a little rusty and should have settled for that Elijah quote after all! ;)

Everdawn
03-21-2004, 02:42 AM
Cate Blanchette

03-21-2004, 10:36 AM

Cheers,
Lyta

Eruwen
03-21-2004, 12:47 PM
Ah, I shame myself for not guessing this one before, for he has been a common guess for me in the past. So here continues my guess of Dominic Monaghan!!! Could I be lucky? We shall see.... :smokin:

Lyta_Underhill
03-21-2004, 12:52 PM
Sorry, Eruwen, no luck on the Dom guess! Let's see, the guesses thus far:
Viggo Mortenson
John Rhys-Davies
Orlando Bloom
Elijah Wood
Bernard Hill
Sean Bean
Sean Astin
Cate Blanchett
Craig Parker
Marton Csokas
John Noble
Christopher Lee
Dominic Monaghan

This list is getting really long now! Anyone care to add more? ;)

Cheers!

03-21-2004, 01:12 PM

Sir Ian?

Lyta_Underhill
03-21-2004, 03:01 PM
Another clever double guess, Everdawn, as there are two Sir Ians! ;) But, neither one is the speaker of this quote, unfortunately. Keep guessing and eventually you'll find it!

Cheers!
Lyta

Everdawn
03-21-2004, 03:57 PM
I meant Mc Kellen.. oh dear.

Hmmm...

Sean Astin.

Lyta_Underhill
03-21-2004, 04:17 PM
Sorry! Sean A. was guessed earlier; maybe you should make a list of who is left? ;) (I guess I gave out a free one for the Sir Ian guess--it is neither McKellen nor Holm...)

Cheers!
Lyta

Eruwen

Gorwingel
03-21-2004, 09:02 PM
How about... Brad Dourif?

Lyta_Underhill
03-21-2004, 09:14 PM
Sorry, Gorwingel, it's not Brad, and Eruwen, I'm not sure what would be cheating here, because the beginning of the thread is so far back in another thread actually, that I don't know if it was ever explicated. This one has gone on awhile, though, so, if you know, feel free!

Cheers!
Lyta

Karl Urban?

Lyta_Underhill
03-22-2004, 10:02 AM
Sorry, not Hugo or Karl and no answer from Eruwen so far...the list now reads:
Viggo Mortenson
John Rhys-Davies
Orlando Bloom
Elijah Wood
Bernard Hill
Sean Bean
Sean Astin
Cate Blanchett
Craig Parker
Marton Csokas
John Noble
Christopher Lee
Dominic Monaghan
Billy Boyd

Hugo Weaving
Karl Urban

Ok, Miranda Otto.

Lyta_Underhill
03-22-2004, 04:02 PM
Nope! Not Miranda! The list swells to 20 names now! There can't be that many left, can there? (Remembers just how many characters there are...) ;)
Cheers!

P.S. I actually chose this quote at random, too, using a search and taking the first LOTR actor with quotes to take!

Gorwingel
03-22-2004, 06:59 PM
Well I don't think that it could be this person... but... How about Liv Tyler?

Lyta_Underhill
03-22-2004, 07:24 PM
Well I don't think that it could be this person... but... How about Liv Tyler? You're right, Gorwingel, it couldn't be (and isn't). The list is at 21 names now...keep trying! It has to turn up sooner or later! ;)
Cheers!
Lyta

Eruwen
03-22-2004, 07:30 PM
Ok, ok, since this has gone on forever and, I think, has outdone even Earendil's many quotes, I will give my answer...guess...whatever. David Wenham? I kinda looked it up on Google cause I was too impatient for someone to accidentally stumble upon the right guess. :D

Lyta_Underhill
03-22-2004, 08:23 PM

Can I ask what movie that was?

Lyta_Underhill
03-23-2004, 09:57 AM
Can I ask what movie that was? That was, in fact, a movie called "Dust" from 2001, starring Wenham and Joseph Fiennes as brothers in the turn of the century Arizona (US) and Macedonia after that. I haven't seen it though--don't know if it is any good. The IMDB listing is here: Dust (2001) (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0243232/) . According to one reviewer, Wenham's American accent is abysmal. Some reviewers seem to like this film, some think it is awful. I think I'll wait til I see it, personally!

Cheers,

Ha, yay I get to post a quote now. Dang, I haven't done this in a long time. Let's see, let me find a hard one...wait a second, hey, what happened to the evil face smily? Anyway, ok, here's the quote...

"If only actors were more powerful they would never get themselves into the ludicrous position where they can be offered a million dollars to play a part they know they can't possibly be worth."

Have at it!!!! Lol.....ooh, I really want that evil smily again. Uh..... [*evil face*]. There ya go. ;)

Iaurhirwen
03-23-2004, 08:12 PM
Ahhh, the sarcasm.

It seems to me an older, more "traditional", actor would say this. I'm simply going to give it a guess and say Sir Ian M.

03-23-2004, 08:16 PM
Sir Ian H?

Sorry, Samwise, not him either. :( Hmm...this might be even harder than I thought. Lol. After a while I'll have to give a hint or two. After...10 guesses I'll give one....or 15, if you all would like to continue with shots in the dark. Lol.

I believe it's Alan Howard. That is one tricky quote!
Now I understand the evil face... :D

Well, I was going to give a hint, but then, Mariska, you have done it. YOU GOT IT RIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!Ok, I'll stop with all the exclamation points now. But, lo and behold, yes is was indeed Alan Howard, the ever famous voice of the "one ring". :D ;) :smokin: You had to have done your research there, Mariska. Props for you. Your turn!

It wasn't easy, that's for sure!

New one, I hope it lasts a bit...

We were rehearsing this scene and they wanted it to be 5 seconds long and I had to kill 5 orcs or something.

good luck! :smokin:

Hmmm... Orlando Bloom?

Mariska Greenleaf
04-01-2004, 06:43 AM
Good guess, but no. ;)

Thorongil
04-01-2004, 06:47 AM
It can't be that many who had to kill 5 orcs in 5 seconds.
Viggo Mortensen?

Mariska Greenleaf
04-01-2004, 06:57 AM
Yes, I know that this quote is limiting the possible actors,
but it's not Viggo either...

Hey... I forget where I saw it, on like some other fansite (less cooler than barrowdowns of course) it's either the Isildur guy or an elf. ???? i forget!

John Rhys-Davies? I think I might have seen it somewhere.

I'll steal Samwise's guess and go with Sean Astin! ;) (not sure why though!)
Cheers!
Lyta

I think I remember seeing the quote somewhere, and if my memory serves then in that case Lyta would right.... But I'll go with Miranda Otto, just because.

What about Bernard Hill?

Mariska Greenleaf

Hm... I haven't seen the name of the actor that I'm looking for just yet.
Although someone came pretty close. Not to say, real close!

David Wenham?

Mariska Greenleaf
04-02-2004, 08:09 AM
Nope.
Maybe it's a good idea to run through the guesses that already have been done, because it's there, but I really demand the name of the actor!

Then it must be Harry Sinclair.

Mariska Greenleaf

Well, since I am in a mood for this actor, and I am searching for pictures of him, I will guess Elijah Wood.

Everdawn

Bruce Hopkins

Gorwingel

Well I would say Peter Jackson, but he is not an actor. So I think I will go with the guess of Sir Ian McKellen (I know it sounds like an odd choice, but I am just going to go with it).

Samwise

For some reason I'm thinking Li'l Mr. Wood, too, but since he's been said,

Sean Astin?
