OK, here's some quotes from the actors of the movie, can anyone guess who said:
"These things are like boats with toes on them!" (on the fake hobbit feet used in LOTR)
" - doesn't speak a lot - - prefers to let his actions speak for -. -'s moves are smooth and elegant, like a cat. You know how cats can jump and land steadily on their paws? That's what I'm trying to do. There's a strength in that, but it's very balletic. It's also bloody hard to do without falling over!" (on his/her charcter's movements)
" To play one of the main characters in it, it's not the kind of thing you don't do. Oh, I'd rather not play - in Lord of the Rings..., In fact, what else would you rather do, you know? I can't actually think of another job that I'd rather do."

1. I have no idea. Ian Holm, aka Bilbo. He didn't particularly care for the feet.
2. This is Orlando. And I know it is Orlando because he said this or something very similar in the Official Movie Guide. (Umm. Yeah, I have it memorized, almost...)
3. No clue. But I am guessing it was one of the guys who played hobbits: Elijah, Dominic, Billy or Sean.
I have some, but I will wait for these to be cleared up before I post.

Oh oh! I remember seeing or hearing that somewhere. Forget who said it though...um...I think it was Ian Holm.

Merlilot's right. 1=Ian 2=Orli 3=Billy

There were 2 more quotes?! smilies/eek.gif Man, I must be stupid!! I thought they were your signature! And I knew them both too! Oh well, Merlilot got them first anyway so it doesn't matter.

Well, this isn't really a qoute, it's Peter Jackson's decription of one of the actors.. Who is PJ talking about?
"He's the only actor I've ever met who has had his tooth knocked out by a sword while shooting a scene, and afterwards ask us if we can put it back with superglue, so he can finish the scene!"

Viggo Mortensen aka Aragorn smilies/wink.gif
"I was told I had to gain a lot of weight because Hobbits are very portly. Peter is forever suggesting I have more food. 'A little more shepherd's pie for Mr. X.' "
Sorry, I couldn't wait with this one smilies/biggrin.gif *in a very very sweet and innocent voice* you're not mad, are you??

Was that said by Samwise's favorite little hobbit himself? (I'm talking about Samwise who made this topic smilies/wink.gif) But anyway, was that said by Sean A.?
vanwalossien
08-10-2002, 06:13 AM
yes.. Sean Astin said that..

Judging from more recent pictures of 'Lil Mr. Wood, I think they did. His face was meatier as Frodo, even though he was basically slender. But he looks even thinner now. Bony-faced.

Hm. Maybe a tad....
Anywho, I'm off topic, I apologize. Someone post a quote! smilies/smile.gif

"I don't care much about the money at all. Frankly, if I get the chance to kiss someone in a movie, they wouldn't need to pay me at all."
On his salary in movies...

Dominic Monohan (sp)? Or maybe Billy Boyd?
Or, when he was much younger, Sean Astin?
"Swans!" said Sam. "And mighty big ones, too! "

That last one was Orlando Bloom. I remember this from one of his fan pages.
Sorry, I don't have a quote though.

Hi, Joy! Long time no talk! I don't know too many quotes, either, but here's one that I have:
"I don't know about you, but--if you can get a hold of some of these things--books, lima beans--whatever--I recommend 'em. "

I have no idea for the quote, Dominique Monaghan?
Anyway, I wanted to ask, Samwise, on the picture in your last post I can see parts of those bubbles, you use to tell speach in f.ex. cartoons. Where did you find the pic, and what are Frodo and Sam saying? Just curious... smilies/biggrin.gif

Where did you find the pic, and what are Frodo and Sam saying? Just curious...
Oi...the link to that pic was originally posted by Raefindel in the Funny Pictures (http://forum.barrowdowns.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=17&t=000058) thread . I thought the joke was in kinda bad taste myself, but that the looks on "Sam and Frodo's" faces were priceless, not to mention unusual, so I copied the pic and doctored it a tad.
"They're Elves," said Sam. "Can't you hear their voices? "

I've already been to the Downs for I while, now here's another qoute: what have I got in my pocket?

I don't know about you, but--if you can get a hold of some of these things--books, lima beans--whatever--I recommend 'em. "
Okay, here's a hint: The speaker of this quote has an exteeeemmmeeeeely cute adorable girl munchkin.
Lothiriel Silmarien
08-15-2002, 06:14 PM
Daughter of Galadriel, that'd be Bilbo, and Samwise, I know yours! It's Sean Astin of course!! Yeah he does have a cute little munchkin, doesn't he!
Samwise
08-15-2002, 06:19 PM
LOL--I knew that'd be too big of a hint. smilies/biggrin.gif
"Yes, they are Elves," said Legolas, "and they say that you breathe so loudly that they could shoot you in the dark."
Sam hastily put his hand over his mouth.

08-27-2002, 11:36 PM
Hm. It's been over a week. I'd like to post another quote just to put this back up to the top.
"The 'Hollywood touch' would be quite wrong for this picture. Tolkien was writing about a different world, a different land, a primitive land and a primitive time in history. New Zealand--breathtakingly beautiful--is just perfect for that."
Who said it?
vanwalossien
08-28-2002, 11:24 AM
Isn't that from the DVD? I think Elijah said it, but I'm not sure..

Oh don't feel stupid Earendil, I do that all the time smilies/wink.gif Your just supposed to give a quote that one of the actor's from the movie said. Not what they said in the movie, but what they said in an interview or offscreen, or something. Hope that helps!

John Rhys-Davies? or perhaps Hugo Weaving. I assume Elrond was at the council of Elrond.

And you would have assumed correctly, Beren87. It was indeed Hugo Weaving. (Guess they couldn't have called it the Council of Elrond without Elrond, could they?)

One night Legolas, Aragorn and Gilmli had early calls for a dawn shoot of them running across the plain, so we all decided to camp out. We went fishing, built a fire pit, roasted some steaks and just had this lovely evening out under the stars. Producer Barrie Osborne sat around telling tales of The Cotton Club. I think for me, looking round that fireplace, that was the most cherished memory of the whole production. Phew, long one!
