Amathoronion

I may be wrong but i belive that Sauron is a servant of Melekor smilies/confused.gif

Pallando B.C

He was a servant of Melkor, but his original master was Aulë.

Anyway here is mine:

I originated in Dor-lomin, my father was imprisoned in the 'Iron Prison', i married my sister, and I mistakenly killed a great compainion of mine

Just a note - Saruman was a Maia of Aule too. smilies/wink.gif

Pallando B.C
12-07-2002, 06:27 PM
* Pallando laughs at Gwaihir the Windlord *

It probably was a bit lazy, but it was meant to be a easy question, for the newly deceased member.

I'll give you an Ultra Hard one when I get my chance, if your so picky about being lazy smilies/smile.gif

Anyway, WarBringer was correct and Legolas was also, but WarBringer will continue the tread.

Sorry, I know it is not my turn! If any object to this I will try and answer something first, but do any of you know the answer to this riddle:

Through darkness I came to light
and after light there again was dark
but in this second dark
there was always with me this single white spark.

There are two answers possible as far as I know. one is Frodo. The Stabbing at Weathertop being the first Dark, Elrond and the healing being the Light. Mordor being the second dark and The Phial of Galadriel being the single bright Spark.
Yet this is not the answer I am looking for. My bro couldn't answer it, so now I wanna know if you ppl can smilies/smile.gif

Good luck.
greetings,

hobbitlass

Eowyn comes to my mind. The first dark was her depression and the sickness from stabbing the witch-king. The light being from Aragorn when he heals her. The second darkness when she slips back into her depression and the little spark being feelings for Faramir. That's my guess.

Just a guess. Was it Beren? Like, after wandering he came to Doriath and met Luthien, and then when he accepted his challenge to get the Silmaril, he always had Luthien there for a light.

Probably wrong though. Just a guess.

Nienna, sister of the Feanturi (Irmo and Namo or Mandos and Lorien) and here house is in the West of the West, the windows looking out from the walls of the world. Beren87
01-15-2003, 03:34 PM
Well...it could be referring to Gollum following the ring, which would seem to him like hope.

Could be Frodo following the phial of Galadriel through Shelob's lair.

Could be Shelob herself following them, because they were her last hope for food.

In Elder days my life was set,
In bliss and splendour I did dwell,
But shadow came and overswept,
And in that land my tower fell.

The tree did fail,
My daughter fled,
my heir upon the trail,
but they were caught and were then trapped,
but saved by might of mail.

For then a hero fey and strong,
Strode forth toward his doom,
For he saved the fleeing throng
and smote down all evil,
But fell toward his tomb.

My gardens are now barren,
My fields are now lost,
and now they live beneath the sea,
and there to ever dwell you'll see,
the ruin of my ost.

It's Turgon is it not? The hero that falls towards his tomb is Glorfindel, although his body was eventually picked up by the Eagles. Turgon died when his tower (upon which he stood) fell.

Gondolin along with the rest of Beleriand sunk.

I awoke with stars and water,

I doubt he'd repeat the last riddle.

Father of Kings
I stood tall
I stand against evil
which causes my fall
A might supreme
I fought against
To my death
from a lack of sense

Fingolfin is father to Fingon and Turgon (KINGS not king), he stands against Morgoth, he falls to his death in the pit carved by Grond, a might supremem is again Morgoth, and it says that he was basically nuts when he rode to the challenge; hence the "from a lack of sense"

Now I say goodbye.

Haiku can be broken down by syllables as 5, 7, 5. Traditionally they are almost exclusively imagery poems, usually pertaining to nature.

Russandol
02-02-2003, 07:40 AM
I was less rigid to the Japanese structure and only adhered to the 17 syllable rule. It's hard enough to come up verse in this thread as it is!

But Beren has it with Tulkas.

A hint? I don't give no stinkin' hints! Besides, tons of clues in there. smilies/smile.gif

Lathspell has it, it's Treebeard.

Welcome precious earth bound child, we met you first in your father's songs
- Earth bound = no Valinor to go to. Father's song = Eru's song

and mother's smile by mountains wild, it's in this place you now belong.
- Mother = Yavanna (growing things). Place you belong = Fangorn

Sadly you know of all these things and remember the gardens of years gone by
you know of all these things = knows the old tales, was around at the waking of elves and men and dwarves. Gardens gone by = Entwives.

for you were born under silver sky to taste the land and breeze on high.
silver sky = before the sun and moon, under the stars. taste the land = tree. breeze = tall tree

So sing one day to all of us, the songs you learned in lost days fair,
sing the song of lost days fair = Treebeards song of the list of peoples (I forget what it's called right now)

bring legend to life and words to trust, with wisdom, patience and strength, all shared.
This whole section referes to the war of the Ring and the help at Isengard and Helm's.
