Eomer, you may want to know that I am modding the next game here and it will be small and basic - ie Seer only gifted , more or less on the original BW rules.

I'd love to play in that game, Mith. Thanks for telling me. :)

I would have liked to play in Nilp's game too (which might run at the same time) but seeing how I played in the current Werewolf game I think I should not take a place there.

Mith, are you thinking 12 players?

EDIT: Sorry, it's probably bad form to speak about the next game just now. :o

I'm giving a heads up for the next Day of play (March 2nd) I will probably not be very active because its my birthday! :D But yeah. I'll make an honest effort to snag a computer during voting/deducing-time.

While hidden clues would certainly be very helpful, the moderator is supposed to be impartial and generally anything s/he writes is not meant to give hints towards anyone's role. (Have there been precedents of this kind of hinting from the mods in other games? From the games I've played in, there have not been, and in some cases the mod even gave a disclaimer that none of his/her posts contained clues. Maybe if we could get a little disclaimer or something from Sleepy on this to tell us whether his posts are valid clues or not?)

Are my posts valid clues? Perhaps... I'll tell you this much, whatever I say could mean anything. It depends on how you read it and what you want to believe. None of my hints will be solid and they could mean anything, so think before you do anything. Because who knows, maybe I'm not pointing out what you believe I am. So basically whatever I say could have a double-meaning or you could be missing what I'm trying to say all together.

Good. I was hoping they were that subtle. In other words, it's not really worth it to break our brains over them. Stick to the discussion, folks, is what I say.

Well, I'm kind of relieved too. It would have taken brains the size of a planet and all the 24-hours / day to go through all the possible allusions - and their reversals...

But they, or the confusion about their status, sure "helped" at the first day madness. There was something to do! And maybe there will remain some tracks for later days... Happily we didn't kill anyone on the basis of those bad-leads.

Anyhow. The death of a wolf was taken from Sleepy's hint in the end!!!

I'm not sure, whether you are serious, or then just riddling... But wasn't the theory about Ka taken initially from the Cupid's arrow at Sleepy's description?

Or is it just, that you haven't read the posts?

The arrow thing was kind of vague. After all, very few people knew of the relationship between THE Ka and Sleepy. To those that did, it was kind of an obvious clue. And I think the last one that obvious that we'll get.

Did anyone stop to think that Mod-God may be offensive to some people. Expecially if it has some thing to do with their R.L beliefs. I'm not saying this is the reason why, but it is something to consider.:)

I did consider that, but

and

Even the phantom didn't display such ridiculous megalomania. Surely the demon drink is the likeliest explanation...

Shame no back-up moderator was named.

Sleepy Ranger, when you wake up in the morning, have a drink of water with some lime in it and then come here and apologise. If you insist on pursuing your ludicrous aims, you may find yourself without players. No Werewolf strike has occurred before, but there's always a first time.

And that would be a shame, because I'm rather enjoying this game so far, including the narration...

I said IIRC, which stands for 'if I re-call correctly', which obviously I didn't. And no I am not drunk, I am under the legal drinking age and have not abused the law. Its a shame people can't accept one little request I made...

If you want me to apologize I shall provided I get one for being bashed. Those last few posts were a joke in referal to the last two days of my life, now this here is probably my mistake since I have a weird habit of intetwining my life events into my posts. So here you go, I apologize for the mis-understanding but I am not changing my opinion on mod-god, I do not wish to be called and I've been through a lot in the last two days (quite a lot of which was good but meh, I'm worn out) and the insistence of people to call me such is aggrivating as is your direct attacks at me.

So there you go, I've apologize and even if it was in a 'Simon Cowell-ish' manner it still was an apology.

And Jenny, kindly stop commenting on my neg-rep, that is solely for the neg-repper to respond to if he or she wishes to do so.

Taking Valier's comment into consideration, yes, I do find mod-god offensive as I'm an atheist and do not like to be referred to as god. Yea it would've been easier to state this in the start but meh, I don't usually tell people that I'm an atheist.

Oh and Jenny, I did not directly attack anyone on the issue (The Valesse matter was just a joke with her, feel free to ask her), so technically all I did was post a reminder that I should not be called mod-god.

EDIT: I'm leaving this post up because I believe I'm owed an apology.

Also, I would very much like for Sleepy to continue the story as he orginally planned, and I think it's a shame that it might not continue over such a mis-understanding. (I really want to know what those red makrs are about, too.) And I did like the idea of this all becoming a short story. Really, it sounds pretty cool if you think about it.

So, I suggest we vote, and if enough support the idea, maybe Sleepy will continue.

I vote that the original story returns, and that this becomes a real short story.

Right... if theres going to be a vote, lets see, passed by simple majority, all who vote against will NOT be used as a character in the short story and instead a generic character will be picked. You may vote for, against or abstain and the votes by those not in the game will not be counted.

Also for the motion to be accepted I will need Anguirel to offer an apology. And also if the neg-repper wishes (not required to bring back the original format) he or she may reveal their identity. I will not, I repeat, will not take any action against you. I would just like to know who you are.

I'm sorry. Do short-story-ise it, my gallant chipmunk.

Seeing how you were the only person not to have apologized you were the only person mentioned. Alright now that could be read in two different ways, depending on the tone.

Well, that's nice and specific,

Either way this is a complaint at being the only person asked to apologize.

and leaves me with the choices of either ruining everyone's fun because of pride, or being completely insincere.

Now here you either refer to your own pride and say that you'd be insincere.
Or you're saying that my reasons to ask you to apologize are pride and insincerity.

Ah well. Here comes the lesser evil.

Again, this statement will not change much either way. By this you could mean dumping your pride and apologizing would be a lesser evil.
Or you're saying if you had to choose between apologizid to a proud and insincere person and spoiling everyones fun then you'd pick the former as you see that as the lesser evil.

I'm sorry. Do short-story-ise it, my gallant chipmunk.

Now the meaning of this line would change depending on how the rest of the post has been said. If you truly are aplogizing then the 'gallant chipmunk' is obviously a bit of humor.
However, if your post was not intended as a true apology then the last sentence is a massive insult. For not only would it be a mock apology but in slang terms 'chipmunk' stands for arrogant. Of course I doubt anyone would bother using such a subtlety just for an insult but... *shrug*

If you really do apologize then I accept it and believe we should forget the past, this goes to you as well JH, though that may have been a bit of an over-apology. :p And you as well Roa.

So then, *raises glass* to a better game!

Note: No, just because the apologies and such have been done does not mean anything will be re-implemented untill a simple majority gives its approval.

I shall go re-write Valier and W_Q's death right now and re-implement the red marks and 13, if the people playing don't want those they may make their voices heard. Really if someone wants to neg-rep me for trying out variations to freshen the game by all means they may do so.

What should that be in GMT? I really suggest, we should use GMT in all the questions concerning time. Otherwise it gets quite problematic. As everyone doesn't know everyones' geographical place, one's evening could be others morning... so for the other it is tomorrow, for another it's the same day...

C'EST NULL! BAH!... You are the worst thing to happen to the act of writing since the Marquess of Queensberry!

Just joking dear, it was wonderfully done. At moments when it seemed there might be a plot fall, you swooped in with a twist and clue. To write is a great thing, most people just make words... Or are forced to droll their life away with thesis papers.

the only thing that I might advize is a clearer means of ending of sorts, for further games contruction and passing of the Mod staff... But that is just my opinion, and it is your work to how you deem it. Anyways, it was wonderfully written and proved most excellent an entertainment whilst in the thesis paper pit.

Hope to see more from you my dear!

...Even if you decided to render my legs useless for a second time in my life... ;)

I have given this some thought now (well, that's not to say that much, but some).

We all seem to be quite unanimous about the first day in WW-game to be quite a frustrating one: where people really can't quite play, and they have to wait for someone to do something somewhat radical to make the discussion going (and that someone then gets lynched just by opening the discussion).

Could this be changed? Could we get some "real stuff" in the air on the first day too?

What I was thinking, was, that the moderator, as s/he gives the roles, would simultaneously send every villager a dream (could be tied into the overall storyline) where they saw either a wolf going on a villager, or two villagers running away from an unknown wolf etc. The idea being, that some of those dreams might be true, some would be partly true and some just pure nonsense - and the wolves would come in to have their own, invented "dreams" during the day, that they would try to use to their advantage.

I think that would give the first day a totally new twist, but at the same time the mod should be really careful about the ratios of true and false dreams. If they almost all are false, no-one believes them and it's just as good as nothing, if they mostly are true, they could reveal too much, at least as the game goes forwards (or then not: the basics of the game is lying anyways - and the wolves can have their say on the overall confusion)?

So what do you think? Is it any good idea to begin with? How should we stipulate the ratios: totally true, halfly true, totally wrong - or should we have only one or two kinds of them?

I would like to try modding at some time this spring, but would be just as happy, if someone else would like to give this a try (for I wouldn't be ready to do that in some time from now on - and I quess there is something of a queue to mod these games)

"What say you?" :p

Actually, on second thought but me down as a probable because odds are ME Idol will start sometime this week and when it does I'm not really sure how active I'll be in WWJ (odds are I'll be at least moderately active). So depending on when we're starting I'll decide. (ie; if we're starting before this game I'll have to drop out unless I'm really really needed to play)

Sorry.

Next week is great. I still need to recover from Midsomer Mawlin, anyway. I just didn't want to miss out on Werecats. :D

And pencil my in for being a barmaid. (Is this okay? Rosie was a barmaid in the movie, so I figured it would fit in the hobbit village.)

Should I ever mod a game in the future, you can be sure that Wereducks will come into play one way or another. Just giving everyone fair warning. I hope this doesn't result in a banishment from ever getting the chance for modding duties. :p

Nogrod

I've played three games in a row now (well, the first three of my life anyways), and could retire for a while. But we'll see... it's kind of addictive.

If we really are starting only the next week at earliest - and Farael does not insist me going to his game, I might be coming in with this one. I kind of would like to try that "senior" WW too. But there's such a megalomanic game going on, that no-one knows, when it ends.

So Valier, count me in as a reserve to begin with. (I know my involvement with Mith's record-game started with almost the same reservations). Your first post on the thread looks good!

PS. Welcome Telperaca! Nice to see new faces here - and not to be the only newbie around... ;)

EDIT: I didn't forgot you Diamond and Jenny... It just sounded better that way, in singular form... :D

I would also like to give it a try, at some point. I would really like to come up with something over that first day misery, trying to give it kind of more heart-pumping twist from the start (if I'm modding, I shan't be there to be hated by all to begin with and to heat the discussion up :D )

Just thinking about those ways still...

Yeah, so as Mith said I'm keen to start a game of WWJ in the first week of May. As long as I'm not ousting anyone. We can play it by ear as to whether it's directly after Valier's- it'll depend on how long her game lasts etc..

I'm not sure how long a WWJ game usually lasts. I guess we did zip through Mithalwen's game pretty fast, but I was thinking we'd be able to play Valier's, and Nogrod's (if he's ready) and mine all before May. Is this crazy?

JennyHallu
03-22-2006, 12:13 PM
Probably. I think there might be time enough for two games and end in early May, but three would be pushing it. Notice we zipped through Mith's game, and it still took 5 days to play to completion.

I tend to agree with this^ I am a little wary of trying retractable votes on my first modded game. I do however like the option of being able to double lynch. But in the end I will still leave it up to the players, if they choose retractable votes, I shall just have to suck it up.

1 vote for retractable votes
and 1 against retractable votes

Is this right?

I'm not really opposed to double lynchings. They can weigh the game in favor of either side, but they do add something interesting to the game. I would think it depends on how big the game gets. A small game, no, a large game, yes.

I think double lynching and retractable votes are both potentially fun, but I don't think they ever belong in the same village.

Double lynches belong in huge villages, or they are merely a liability, not a tool.

And retractable votes belong in smaller villages, or they are just confusing.

Lommy thought the idea of us "double-modding" a game a neat idea. So we could do that, as our turn comes (after Diamond and Samwise)... And as we have quite a time to it - our turn would probably be in May (?) - we could come up with something lots of fun and even more of bafflement. Hope so!

That is to say, consider:

Anguirel, an Ordinary Villager, was massacred by were-hedgehogs on the second NIGHT.
Eonwe, an Ordinary Villager, was struck by lightning, struck by lightning! on the second DAY.
dancing spawn of ungoliant, a Seer, was taken away on the third NIGHT.
Kath, a Werewolf, was accidentally strangled on the third DAY
Lhunardawen, the Werewolf Beloved, died with his Lover on the third DAY
Eomer of the Rohirrim, an Ordinary Villager, was poked with woodwinds on the fourth NIGHT.
the guy who be short, an Ordinary Villager, was stuffed into a tree-frog on the fourth DAY.
Glirdan, an Ordinary Villager, was consumed by fire from the Mod God on the fourth DAY.
Celuien, an Ordinary Villager, was 'Freud' alive on the fifth NIGHT.
SamwiseGamgee, a Werewolf, was shot by Gurthang on the fifth DAY.
tar-ancalime, an Ordinary Villager, went to the future on the sixth NIGHT.
littlemanpoet, a Seer, was crushed by a boulder on the sixth NIGHT.

So, Valier, please choose the one that seems to suit the overall village better - or which you think, would be more suitable occupation for me.

And a note to all. I will be very busy on monday and tuesday (here in Europe, +2 GMT), and so won't be posting much in the first day - if this starts on monday. So just consider it as one reason not to lynch me because of a very different gaming-style on my part on the first day... :D

The times, however, are a little hard for me to work with. I get out of school just at the time each day or night would end. So I shall support Diamond18's suggestion for a 1 hour later time.

I may change the time to fit with the majority of the players. I will wait till we have a full roster before I choose the exact time.

PLEASE BE AWARE: Naria will be my co-mod for this game. Her word must be followed if I am unavailable. Please feel free to pm me or her with any questions.

I have added two more players....Welcome!!

Hey Valier.... you can count me in... the only thing is that if the village is over-booked I shall forfeit my spot for whoever wants in as I'll also be modding WW XX

Valier

Occupation, hmm . . . ale-drinker!

JennyHallu

I'm thinking this is a hobbit community with a very healthy nightlife...are drunk werewolves as effective?

Kath
03-26-2006, 10:50 AM
A bit sloppy perhaps, but wolves can run faster than hobbits even when inebriated, so long as they run in the right direction!

Valier
03-26-2006, 12:21 PM
I have asked JennyHallu if she would care to play, since Farael will be in my game. I would like one more besides her to start. I still need occupations from

The game will likely start on Tuesday!! WE NEED 2 MORE PLAYERS!!!

Well, well, Noggie, Kath, and Glirdan. It seems we'll be spending a lot of time in the local tavern together. :p

I'll provide the ale, Glirdan will tend it, with the help of Diamond, and Kath will drink it! That's just fun! We will be the merry foursome at the town...

I have had such utilitarian roles up until now ... carpenter, truffle-hunter, surgeon/barber ...

I think I will now be a weathered former mercenary. I just want the fighting to stop, but expect and invite the worst.

Bring it on.

Cheers.

Oh I see. Not only have you a hobbit occupation, but a special hobbit name for the game as well. Impressive! I, on the other hand, come with an existing hobbit name, Diamond Took. ;)

And Garin, I've never heard of an ex-mercenary hobbit. :p

Garin
03-26-2006, 01:52 PM
Diamond: True about the Hobbit mercenary role. I know how boring they are. (Except for that saving middle-earth stuff.) Can't I be an Orc trying my best to reform and fit into Hobbit society? I pretty sure I have elven lineage and don't deserve this discrimination. Call me Garin the Green Toothed.

Or I can just be ... the ... um ... a blacksmith. I can fashion everything from horse shoes to blades.

Ah, then we are akin!

I'm the son of Formendagrim Took, son of Isaweredagrim, son of Sowrondagrim Took, of Fool's Hollow. What branch of the family are you from?

Alright I think we can Start Monday at 5:00pm CST we will begin with a Day phase. I will pm roles tonight or Monday morning (for me). I will add Thinlomien to the list if she decides to play before I send out roles. I need occupations still from Kitanna, Eonwe, and Telperaca. Also Garin did you want to be the Blacksmith then? If you do not pick one today, I will pick one for you and it may not be pretty.....:D I will have the rules and roles posted sometime today on the Attack of the Werecats thread.

If there are a few stragglers, who would like to join up, I can still add you as long as I have not sent out roles.

The Werecats can pm till my death.

Now just to be certain this is Central Standard Time, correct?

Always has...

(I've kept an eye on her Timezones, and yes, she's from Saskabusch- Central Standard Time).

The only thing to keep an eye on is the fact that Saskatchewan doesn't go onto Daylight Savings Time. Since Alberta doesn't change until this coming Sunday, while some of the world has already changed, I'm not sure how that affects things.

For myself, I'll just wait and let Valier post the Game Start at the appropriate time, and 24 hours later, things are a Day gone by...

And Garin I wish you better luck (of course only if we're on the same side) than I had when I was an ex-mercenary - I died either on Day1 or Night2, can't remember which one. And you'll probably need luck simply because you're Garin... :p

Ok, I know this has nothing to do with the game, but does anybody know the sign up list for modding for the next few games?? If so, post it. I have another idea for a game that I'd like to try out...but not until the tenth or fifteenth game.

Nogrod
03-30-2006, 05:37 PM
As far as I know - with my modest experience of four games - they are kind of reserved here at the WW / WWJ threads. I'm not sure about WW-situation, but here at WWJ I think it's Diamond next, Samwise then and Me & Lommy the third. Then I guess there's a place open... (in WW it's Farael next, then lmp...?)

Diamond18
03-30-2006, 05:38 PM
Um, I think I'm after Valier.

And then there's Thinlomien and Nogrod co-modding a game

And I believe that's followed by SamwiseGamgee

Edit: x-posted with Nog... well okay then flip-flop the last two.

As for WWS, yeah it's Farael and then LMP/Kuru co-modding.

I'm really following the situation, although I should be sleeping by now... You are doing great! Just one day away from the record of the last game... :smokin:

Valier
04-07-2006, 12:36 PM
I just want to say I don't want the game to stop myself until it's done, I was just saying if most of the players did not want to play anymore I could just shorten the Day and night hours or stop it all together or I can just leave it how it is.
Just giving options.:)

Mithalwen
04-07-2006, 12:50 PM
Quietness can be a tactic. It is unfortunate if the talkers get killed or have noone to interact with but it doesn't make it an unloved game. Hang on in there Valier!!!

I must agree with Mith here. As much as I think, that the game should be for those who really would like to participate and talk, then it's a fact, that those will die pretty soon... and that frustrates: you would like to play, but get killed during the night at least.

And it's a very good tactics to be quiet, for you will thence live at least four days or so (wolves won't kill you, neither will the villagers)... even though I don't understand the inner logic of these people who just like to hang around. What's the fun?

So hang on Valier! The game is a good one anyhow! Lots of nice turn-arounds etc!

Kath
04-07-2006, 03:11 PM

It might partly be blamed to the time-zones (I've experienced that myself: being the only one awake and free to post for some four-five hours), but I must admit, that this last day has been very quiet indeed... like my first game.

But whoever thinks and whatever thinks, I like your courageous and thoughful way of playing. I did it already at our first game, and I do still. I'll challenge your record one day - if the wolves & the villagers just let me play a couple of days in any game to come... :)

I will be starting the seventh Day three hours early, I have to leave then and won't be back till way later. I will end the Day at the regular time.
