Wlecome all to the new version of Werewolf that's not so new!!!

Werewolf Junior!!!!

This game will run the same way as the other WW games. There are two things that I'd like to say before I move on.

1) There will be a limit of 12-15 players each game. You can, if you want to and you're modding, go over that limit if you can handle it.

2) This game is meant for those members who haven't played a WW game and don't want to play with the big guys yet and the big members who missed their chance to be in the other WW game.

The game will, of course, run on a Night/Day basis where each Night and Day will last twenty-four hours. At the end of the day, you, the villagers, will choose one person to hang, or as we like to call it, lynch. Each Night the Wolves and Bear(if there is one) will choose one person to attack. They will PM the mod (that will be me for the first game) on who they decided to attack. I will get back to you on the roles, but you can however still post and say you want to join.

Cool. That sounds like a wonderful idea. I've been following IX and X, and it'd be awesome to get in on that hilarity. Count me in.

Here are all the possible roles we can have (that I know of  )

Villagers: Talk publically with each other and vote during the DAY on which player to hang. It is in their best interest to determine who is really a werewolf, because killing innocent villagers only helps the werewolves.

Werewolves: Decide which player to kill each NIGHT. They also disguise themselves as regular villagers during the DAY and join in the vote on who to hang. Obviously, they try their hardest to influence the vote toward non-werewolves.

The Seer: Has the ability to see one other player's secret role each NIGHT. He can use this information as he likes. Of course, other players don't know he is the seer, so they may or may not believe any information he shares.

Ranger: The ranger chooses one person to protect from wolf attacks each night. They cannot choose the same person twice in a row.

Hunter: The hunter chooses one person to die along side him/her incase he/she is chosen by the wolves, he/she wants to try and pick a wolf. He/she also cannot choose the same person twice in a row.

Cursed Villager: Doesn’t know he/she is cursed, I am the only one who knows that. If they are chosen by the wolves they become a wolf, and play on the wolve's team. No one will know who the Cursed villager was/is until the end of the game.

The Bear: Works the same way as the Wolves except they only have themselves to look after.

Cobbler: A villager gone awry. Wants the Bear and/or Wolves to win and he/she doesn't know who they are. The Cobbler would even go as far as getting themsleves lynched in order for the werecreatures to win.

Shirrifs: The Shirriffs go back a long way, and therefore know that each other is innocent. They PM by DAY to discuss strategies and suspicions. There are two Shirriffs.

The roles we'll be having are 3 Wolves, 1 Seer, 1 Ranger, 1 Hunter, 1 Bear, 1 Cobbler, and 2 Shirrifs and have 15 people in the game. Sound good?

For the first game, we'll have 3 wolves

Wayne(my brother) would like to play the junior one.

Wouldn't having a bear and wolves be to much for only 15 players? I would think you need atleast 20 to have a bear.

The Saucepan Man
09-27-2005, 05:44 PM
Wilwa speaks sense, you know. Unless they are very lucky, the Villagers won't stand a chance with three Wolves and a Bear if there are only 11 innocents at the start.

um i don't think times have been discussed. for me, the 7-7 thing was weird, cuase sometimes i have class till six, which means i don't get home till 630. and i have to eat with the fam right after, so many times i didn't get on till like 650. which sucked. so something like 9-9 or 10-10- would work better for me. i don't know what this will do to other time zones, but it would help me.

Hiriel
Rune Son of Bjarne- Bailiff
Wayne the Goblin- Baby sitter

As for times, the game won't be starting for some time because we need more players and I don't know when I'll have access to the computer. When we do start, I won't be posting my own death until late, probably 10:30pm Est. time. For the start day, I'm going to try and start it by at least next Monday, at the latest and send you uor roles Sunday night. When the game starts, make sure you're invisible. How do you do that? Go into your User CP, go into options and click the box that says "Show me as invisible". BTW, I need a backup mod in case I need someone to fill in, but it can't be someone who plans to be in the game.

Thanks for that little correction Wilwa and Saucy.

I'll be the resident Peach Cobbler maker. Just because of a drawing Oddwen made of me. :)

Btw, I wonder if Eomer isn't on to something in the original WW thread, maybe we should just rename this thread WW12 (insert whatever you want here about ‘the Saga’ :p). The ‘junior’ bit in the thread title doesn’t bother me a bit, but what we really are doing is starting up a twelfth WW game. Just something to think about...

edit: I am, for those of you that haven’t figured it out yet ;), male.

I've been thinking about this. We could cahnge it, but the thing is that these games are meant mostly for the newbies to the game and who feel like they're not quite up to the challenge of playing with the bigger members. But it's also a game open to those who weren't able to get a spot during the current WW game. And this thread is meant for the planning of the WWJ games. I will be starting a new thread when I actually start the game.

Speaking of which, I'm stuck on what I should name the town. Any suggestions?

Still looking for someone to play in this game? I wasn't going to volunteer but seeing as TORE has and he clearly is not a newbie, I would like to play.

Glirdan
09-29-2005, 05:43 AM
Ok. This is who we have:

Eonwe- Shady, black market type guy who has deals with Dwarves, secretly
Hiriel- Deaf librarian
Kitanna
Malkatoj- Drunk fencer
Rune Son of Bjarne- Bailiff
The Only Real Estel- Peach Cobbler maker
Thinlomien- Healer
WaynetheGoblin- Babysitter

Also, to do with the roles. I was thinking when I first got up that the Gifted and Cursed villager ratio is higher than that of the Ordinary villagers. So, I was thinking that we should take the Shirriffs out to make it even. That way, the Ordinary Villagers would be Eight and the Gifted and Cursed Villagers will be Seven. It's more even that way.

On another note, has anyone thought of an idea for the Village's name? I'm stumped on finding a name. Maybe I'll find something in my History text book.....

Scratch that question. Perky has already said that he would take the job. And I thank you Perky!! :D I'm sure I;m going to need you to cover for me once in awhile, and even if you don't, you'll get a little reward. Thanks a ton for the Village name and being my bakcup mod!!

Anyway, we still need at least 5 more people and I've asked one person to join and I"m planning on asking someone else if they'd like to. Anyone who hasn't joined and wants to, hurry up. I'd like to get the game started soon.

The Only Real Estel

Personally I'd like to see Fea & Oddwen, as I believe they were two other 'veteran' BDers that missed the deadline for Holby's game.

Kitanna: I thought maybe if I signed up others would probably follow. It is a game for the 'juniors' but also those that missed out. The way I see it, if there were enough juniors that wanted in the vets should give up their spots but that doesn't seem to be the case this particular go-around.

Glirdan
09-29-2005, 07:52 PM
I'll send out invitations to those two and Folwren. I've sent one to a newbie, feonor. That leaves space for one more person.

Well, I wasnt' going to play, as I've been extremely busy lately. I have barely had time to sleep, but that's somewhat my own fault, too(cuz I just can't stay off the 'Downs at night! :D ). But how could I refuse such a grand invitation as what Glirdan sent me. So I will play, but I don't know how much I'll be able to post. Technically, since this is the Junior game, I'm kinda hoping it won't be as time consuming as the other game I was in.

I'm also wondering when the game is starting? Or is that dependant on when we have enough players. And I'll get you my occupation when I think of a good one. My last occupation almost got me killed at the start!

Since I have never (surprisingly!) played a WW game, I would like to ask a question: isn't that so that when you (Glirdy) post us roles, then you wait that you get a confirmation from everybody, that they've received their roles and announce the starting day? So we won't be starting so that someone doesn't know/notice we start? (I know, it was a stupid question, but I had to know...)

No problem Gurthang. ;)

I'm also wondering when the game is starting? Or is that dependant on when we have enough players.

Glirdan, any reason why you're holding out for 15 players? 12 players should be enough for a good game with the roles you have.

I'll answer both at once because they have something to do with each other. In answer to Gurthang's question, it's depending on having enough people. I'm just waiting to get an answer from Lhuna and Folwren to see if they want to play. Saucy, it's because it's funner when there's more people and the game lasts longer, soooo.... Not to mention if we have 15 players, the amount of Cursed and Gifted compared to that of Ordinary Villagers is pretty even.

What about Sleepy Slope? Or Dozytown? Or Snoopyville? Or Wulfenberg? Or Dozeoff? Or Lilleville? Or The Bathtub Village? Or Crowdeep? (Yeah, I know I have too much imagination just now...)

Thanks for those offers, but we have a name thanks to Perky!! The name is Fwedawick. How's that for original?

Since I have never (surprisingly!) played a WW game, I would like to ask a question: isn't that so that when you (Glirdy) post us roles, then you wait that you get a confirmation from everybody, that they've received their roles and announce the starting day? So we won't be starting so that someone doesn't know/notice we start? (I know, it was a stupid question, but I had to know...)

I'll be figuring out the roles as soon as I get an answer form Lhuna and Folwren. I'll send out your roles through a PM letting you know if you're going to be and Ordinary Villager, a Wolf, the Seer, The Ranger, The Hunter or the Cobbler.

If we can, we'll start the night that I send out the roles which will hopefully be by Monday at the latest. Hope that answered all you're questions.

So far, the players are:

Hiriel- Deaf librarian

Cool. I think we'll be starting by tomorrow night. How's that for everyone?

For those who don't know who this game works, I'll explain how you win. I'll also repost some of this stuff once the game gets started.

If you're a villager, you win once the Wolves have all been found and lynched.
If you're a wolf, you'll win once the number of villagers is equal to the amount of wolves left. Example, if all three wolves are alive still at the end and there are three villagers, the Wolves will win and can move out into the open.

Other rules we need to discuss, do we want to allow double lynches? I will not have mass lynchings and also nonretractable votes (can't take back your vote once you've voted.) As for the doulbe lynchings, for those newbies out there, a double lynch is when you have the same amount of votes for two people. Do we want to allow this? If there are any more questions, don't hesitate to ask.

Another thing, try to incorporate your occupation into the actual game. For those of you who have played an RPG and would like to play the game as an RPG like we did on the first day for WW X, feel free to do so.

BTW, I still need a role from Bergil and Gurthang. If I don't have your roles by tomorrow, I'll make up one for you myself, and it might be something stupid.

malkatoj
09-30-2005, 08:06 PM
From my own personal (non-Barrow-Downs) experience, double lynchings are annoying and pointless. It's nice for the werewolves, but more often than not, villagers die these days. However, from what I've read in other BD games, people are more active so there's more of a reason to lynch people, instead of just going on and making up something stupid.

I'm against them, but not strongly. Do what you will.

Glirdan
09-30-2005, 08:46 PM
On second thought, I think I'll send out the roles tonight. 13 is a good number. We'll go with that. Expect to start tomorrow by 10:30 pm Eastern time. I will, however give Gurthang and Bergil a chance to decide what occupation they would like. If you guys don't have it in by at least 9:00pm Eastern tomorrow, I'll decide your occupation for you.

The players with their roles are (alphabetically):

Bergil- Busker
Eonwe- shady black market type guy who has deals with Dwarves
Feanor of the Peredhil- Village Insomniac
Folwren- wants to be known as Jack, Blacksmith/Farrier, horse named Blakeney
Gurthang-
Hiriel- Deaf Librarian
Kitanna- Village Hermit
Malkatoj- Drunk Fencer
Rune Son of Bjarne- Bailiff
Sleepy Ranger- Innkeeper
The Only Real Estel- Peach Cobbler maker
Thinlomien- Healer
WaynetheGoblin- Babysitter

BTW, Gurthang and Bergil, you can't take town poet as an occupation. That's mine. :p ;)

Towns name- Fwedawick

I'll be starting a new thread for the game. It will be called "WWJ I- A New Saga, A New Beginning...Or Is It!?!?!?"

~Rules~

- Nonretractable votes. Once you vote, no going back.
- We won't have double lynchings. If a tie occurs, the person who got the first vote will be lynched
-If you don't post at least within a 2 Day period, you'll be lynched.
- No talking about the game in other threads, even when you're dead. And no PMimg about either unless you're the Wolves. If you're a dead wolf, you're dead. No PMing the other Wolves about the game.

Everybody got that? I'll be sending out the roles shortly.

Glirdan
10-01-2005, 07:01 AM
On second thought, I'll give them until say 1:00 pm Eastern Time. That way, I can get the game started and the Wolves can PM each other. I'll be posting my death at 10:30pm.

Yes, the Seer dreams, no the Ranger and Hunter don't choose. Since the wolves are killing the mod, there's no reason for them to work.

I already said my role, I'm a busker (if you don't know what that is it's someone who does something entertaining (usually playing music) on a street corner and asks people to give him money). just write "busker". I'll try and start as many posts as i can with a few lines from a real (cf; not written by me) song. also, did you say it starts tomorrow?

HEY! GLIRDAN! READ MY LAST POST!
Sorry if you already read it, but you didn't edit the "role list"

10-01-2005, 09:59 AM
I read it!!! No need to bite my head off!!! I'm doing other things to, like homework, babysitting, and a ton of other things you know. I just edited it. Now Gurthang has an hour to come on and give me his role.

Glirdan
10-01-2005, 11:01 AM
Well, it's one o'colck everyone. Since Gurthang still hasn't come on to tell me what his role is, I'll be picking it for him. The game will be starting momentarily. Everyone please stop posting on this thread unless it's to say you'll be absent for awhile or to explain an absence. Have fun and good luck.

Oh, & Glirdan, though I'll probably be able to figure it out after your death post in the game thread, what time are we using for this game?

Ok. Thanks for letting me know Rune. So everybody lay off Sleepy Ranger until he comes back. I might be a little late tonight posting the lynching of whoever you guys lynch. But I'll ask you to stop, if I haven't said so before then, to stop voting at exactly 10:30, or whenever Fea says to because she's pretty much in the same time zone as me. Got a question for the WWJ players. If we end up getting 6 votes for Gurthang before 10:30pm Est, would you like to me to end it before 10:30? I'd still start off the next Day at 10:30 tomorrow. What say you?

Sleepy Ranger
10-06-2005, 03:53 PM

Just to remind everybody again. I'm almost entirely (as far as I'm aware... just to be fair, I have to keep adding this) unavailable for the next few days as I'm out of town. Wow!!! Seems like there's going to be a lot of us missing. I will not be accepting a lynch for Fea, malkatoj and Rune as they will not be able to mpost most likely. If they do, however, post you may feel free to vote for them. I myself will be away until probably 1:00am tomorrow at the latest so Perky will be filling in for me. Speaking of which, I might need you to take over on Sunday as well. Might is the key word in that. Speaking of which, I still needs a name from the Seer. And if I post late today, it's because I was out. Perky, if I don't post the death by make it 11:30pm Est at the latest, do it for me. Ok?

Gurthang

I will not be accepting a lynch for Fea, malkatoj and Rune as they will not be able to mpost most likely. If they do, however, post you may feel free to vote for them.

Glirdan, I don't think that will work. I believe a lot of people plan on voting for X(name withheld) tomorrow, whether X is there or not. But according to what you just said, all X has to do is not post, and they will save themselves. That doesn't seem very fair.

The Perky Ent
10-07-2005, 02:46 PM
I gave the seer the name the seer wanted to see. You still wantn to wait til that late since we already have all the names, or can I post the next possible death!

You bring up a very good point Gurthang. So I take back what I said. Vote for whom you want. But you ideas might change.

Perky, I got the name from the Seer to. Does anybody mind if we start early, because the Wolves actually sent in their attack already. This way, you have moer time for disscussion and the Day would still end tomorrow at 10:30pm.

And Perky, if you have a really good death and you can incorporate it somehow in the lynching for tomorrow, use it tomorrow because I have a rather wierd death myself.

10-10-2005, 09:00 PM
Hmm....I have an excuse...sure. Well, all the name's were in, and I thought you'd be gone that night. Plus, I figured since the villagers were aobut to win, they needed all the time they could get to get it right. I apologize.

~*~ Villagers Win ~*~

Well that was a fun one. I don't know if anyone else has stepped up, but if no one else is thinking of modding the next one, I'd like to take a whack at it (Assuming no one else really wants to, or if there even is a WWJ II)

Glirdan
10-10-2005, 09:05 PM
Well that explains a lot there Perky. And yes, villagers win. Now, I'm not sure if someone's already stepped up for the position of mod in the next one, but if there's going to be another, you're going to have to wait till Holby's game is over to start planning it.

The Perky Ent
10-10-2005, 09:06 PM
True. I believe Phantom is up next after Holby! That should be interesting...

Feanor of the Peredhil
10-10-2005, 09:37 PM
Should indeed. The phantom's got the next "official" game, but I hadn't heard anything about anyone else calling mod on the next junior version (which, quite honestly, was one of the best played I've been in, so any negative connotations that come with "junior" are faulty to the core) is wide open. *nudge nudge*

malkatoj
10-10-2005, 09:49 PM

I will be gone from the 16-22 on a canoeing trip in Green River, Utah. Hmm....what to do, oh what to do? If you still want me to mod and wait, I can start it on the 23rd. A lot depends on when WWXI ends. If you want, I'll step down and wait for WWJ III, but if not, I'll have to work something out

malkatoj

10-11-2005, 04:27 PM
I've been following both of the recent (concurrent) WW games avidly and would love to play in the next one.

However, being a total Gaurhoth virgin, I'll understand if the mod would prefer to front-load the next game with experienced players. ;)

Glirdan
10-11-2005, 04:41 PM
The whole point of WWJ was so that the unexperienced members could have their own little games to get used to how the WW games work before heading into the Big games witht the rest of us. I'm sure the mod would rather have a bunch of newbies and a few experienced to even it out. That's what made my game fun, we had a pretty even number of both newbies and experienced players.

Rune Son of Bjarne
10-11-2005, 04:43 PM
I just read Bergil stating that the next game is full ! ! !

Is this correct ? I thought we had not starting signing yet!

I want to be in so badly! :(

Glirdan
10-11-2005, 04:46 PM
No, the planning for the next game hasn't even started, the next game for WWJ anyway. As for the original WW games, the one the tp will be modding, I have no idea. You still have a chance to get into this game however, but the planning will not be starting until Holby's game has finished which should be sometime in the next few days, so look out WW here I come!!!! ;)

malkatoj
10-11-2005, 07:16 PM
I actually think I would like to mod the next game, if nobody minds. I'll gladly give it up if someone desperately wants to try their hand at it, or thinks it'd be best if I had more experience (please note that I've played at least six non-Barrow-Downs games, so I have a general idea). Before I designate myself the official Mod, however, I'd like to hear a few people say I'm okay; obviously if they don't think I am then I won't be mod yet.

Glirdan
10-11-2005, 08:08 PM
You modding is fine with me. Really, it's completely up to Perky but in my all honest opinion, the newbies should get a chance at modding to.

After malkatoj, and I think Wayne wanted to mod one, I'll be glad to mod a WWJ game.

malkatoj
10-12-2005, 12:35 PM
Woohoo, I get to mod!
This means I need to know who's playing, who's not playing, genders for everyone, alternate names if they so choose (i.e. Jack) and roles. I'd also like to know what time people think is best for NIGHT and DAY--I think 10:30 was a little late, but It's not like I'm not awake anyway, so I'm flexible. Remember that I'm on EST, which is GMT-5. (Right? Hope so.) Lastly, I'd like to know when people want to start.

As of right now, I believe AbercrombieOfRohan is my backup mod, but I need to check with her about the one time I know I won't be here.

Thanks to you all!

Feanor of the Peredhil
10-12-2005, 01:28 PM
Just as a recommendation, Malka, I'd wait to get officially under way until after tp's game begins. WWJ I was for newcomers and those who missed the deadline. I thought that the diversity of experience made for a fun game and would hate to see it lost because of timing.

malkatoj
10-12-2005, 02:07 PM
Good point, Fea. I'll be waiting a little while, in that case. I'd also like to give enough people an opportunity to sign up. (What's a good number of people?)

I do think we could start planning/getting ideas in my head about roles/rules/names of village. And by 'roles' I mean both who you want to be in the town (like I was the Drunk Fencer last game) and what roles you want to have...Cursed Villager, for example?

Feanor of the Peredhil
10-12-2005, 02:47 PM
(What's a good number of people?)
That's up to you and how many you think you can deal with. If you think you might end up short on time, you might want a smaller game, but if you aren't worried about that, games with more are equally fun, though less personal. I'd say stick with between 12 and 18. It also depends on what roles you plan on using. If you're going old school with three wolves, a seer, and a bunch of ordos, than a small game is better. If you want all-out with all of the extra parts, the more the merrier.

PS: I've always thought it would be fantastic if a Mytho picked the WereBear. Now doesn't that sound fun?

No worries, Ancalime... I played the "insomniac" last game as I knew I'd be keeping odd hours. Nobody really minds them, though you might get gently teased about it because of day one randomness.

I can understand if you would want to offer places to older members first though.
What a silly notion. The older members have already played. You haven't. That means that, by all rights, and especially in a game for newcomers, you get first dibs. Welcome, and well met, and all of that, as well.

malkatoj
10-13-2005, 06:33 PM
Unless anyone has any objections (read: better ideas) the name of the town shall be Lower Tadfield. (If you don't get it, read Good Omens by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman.)

Currently, our population is Nine. We have:
Bergil, m. A 'Superstitious Guy.'
Rune Son of Bjarne, Traveling Cheese Juggler
Wilwarin538, f.
Glirdan, m. Baker.
WaynetheGoblin. Scientist.
Gurthang. Peddler.
Sleepy Ranger. Explorer from out of town who gets stuck in Lower Tadfield.
Sotty. School teacher OR Innkeeper (choose one, please!)
Tar-ancalime. Crone.
Márcolië Lamen, unknown. DEATH.
Eonwe. Friendly undertaker.

I'd rather not go over 18 people, so unless some drop out, only eight more spaces.

Those of you who don't have a role in the village, you have until the game starts to think of one. Those of you who don't have a gender, (I'm not assuming any in case you want to play around with it) again, you have until the game starts to get one in.

As for timing, I think 9:00 on GMT-5 will work well for me except for on Mondays, but I'm going to have to check AbercrombieOfRohan's schedule as she is now officially my backup mod. The game won't start at least until Monday, though maybe later depending on the other game, since this weekend has been divided by zero.

I'd like input on which roles you guys want to have in the game, as well.

Until next time,

Well, my gender (if you didn't read my death in the WWJ I game malka) is male. This is definetly going to be a good game. So far we've got three pretty experienced players in here. Wilwa, Gurthang and myself (even though this is only my third game ;). Well you can say two if you want.) And I forgot Wayne!!!

Oh, and a little advice for you, Wayne my friend, try posting more than one scentence posts and try coming up with theories of your own, like you did in my game. Ok?

Malka, name's fine by me. Kind of spooky and mysterious sounding.

Wilwa, since your in my time zone, the time would be what for us? I'm no good at the time zone change.

scotty, the whole reason we came up with WWJ was so the newbies (pardon the word) to the game would get used to playing it before moving on into the original WW games, which have much more experienced players. So you, above all people, get a dibs in this game, even before you Sleepy!! :p

What's your ideal number for villagers malka? Because once phantom's game starts and we find out who's in it, you should ask those who weren't able to make it in to join this one.

As for the roles, is it going to be 3 Wolves, 1 Seer, 1 Ranger, 1 Hunter and 1 Cursed?

Another thing. Those who played in the last WW games, you can now deactivate you invisibility mode until we start the next games.

malkatoj
10-13-2005, 08:24 PM
I really don't care about number of villagers, as long as it's between 13 and 18, inclusive.

As for roles, I'm taking requests, so if people really really really want a mythomaniac, for example, I'll include one. Or if they really DON'T want a Hunter, then they don't need one. Unless I'm violating some horrible code. So, opinions on roles are nice, but since this *is* the Junior game, I'd rather keep it kind of simple.

Well, Modkatoj, you may refer to me as a 'he'.

For the timezones, it really doesn't matter to me. As long as the first death starts at the correct time, I will just plan accordingly. Which may end up having me vote a few hours early or such, but hopefully it won't get me lynched. ;)

On the roles issue, it doesn't really matter either. I'm sure it will be a great game no matter what.

Oh, and DEATH, I don't really like you editing every post, but as long as you promise to edit ONLY for that reason, I'll let it slide. ;)

Nonetheless, those who dare to call me less than a woman reveal nothing but their own fears.

I think a mytho would be kinda cool. I've never played with one before so it would be neat.

If anyone is wondering what a mythomaniac is, I will explain. On NIGHT 2 the mytho chooses one other player, the mytho then receives the role of that player.

For example. I am a mytho, Glirdan is the Hunter. On NIGHT 2 I PM Malka and give her Glirdy's name. Now the village has 2 Hunters, me and Glirdan.

If that role interests you Malka then I think it would be a fun one to have. ;)

Glirdan 9pmGMT-5 would be 8pm for us. ;)

About my role, I will be "that crazy girl who wants to be a butterfly". :p

Glirdan
10-14-2005, 01:56 PM
Thanks for the help on that Wilwa. And I rather like the idea of having a mytho in. That would add more paranoia in the village because you don't know if the mytho will turn into a Wolf or someone good. I like that idea.

Gurthang
10-14-2005, 02:17 PM
Hmm...

The mytho sounds like a fun idea. I'd actually kinda like to have a Bear in there again, so that I can (hopefully) put the total kills into double digits. Go WereBears!

But both a mytho and a Black Beorning would be a bit much, and I still say it's whatever Modkatoj wants. (Not that I'm currying favor or anything. ;) )

Well we could have both, if we get enough people to join. I suggest you go out and send PM's to those people who aren't in the phantom's game and personally invite them to this game. Let's get Thin, Kitanna and Folwren so we even it out. Invite some newbies to. That's how I was able to get a few people *coughGurthycoughFolwrencough* ;) And if you need help for ideas in modding, ask previous mods, who aren't in this game. So you can't ask Wilwa or myself. But ask Enca, Holby, SpM and others. They'll be able to help you out.

I WOULD RATHER LIKE TO HAVE MORE ROLES -MYTHO, -WEREBEAR, SHERIFFS WOULD BE INTERESTING TOO, SINCE I HAVE NEVER PLAYED WITH ANYTHING BEYOND A CURSED VILLAGER. THIS WOULD REQUIRE MORE PEOPLE THOUGH. AND MORE IMPORTANT THAN THAT IS IT IS MALKA'S CHOICE ON WHAT TO DO.

Sleepy Ranger

The Special Roles
Three Wolves,
One Bear,
One Mytho,
One Cursed villager,
One Hunter,
One Ranger,
One Seer,
Total- 9

Now if we get a total of 15 players we'll have 6 ordinary villagers. 9 with 18. All these roles would be fun to play as in my opinion, of course if you plan to have Shiriffs as well then I daresay there will be too many special roles which would take away their specialness. (And make an innocent special  )
Of course if you want to cut down on special roles here are my suggestions-

Remove the Cursed Villager (Mytho will be more of a wild-card and will make things more interesting)
Subbing the rest would be hard so thats all I can come up with.

Of course Darth Modka has the final word and I'll play by what she says. :)

wilwarin538
10-14-2005, 03:03 PM
I don't think it would be a good idea to have both the mytho and the cursed. So one of the two would be fine.

To have a bear you would need more then 18 players. 20 atleast I would think or else the villagers stand a small chance. So since Malka only wants 18 players I don't think the bear would be a good idea. ;)

For 18 players I think this should make everyone happy:
3 wolves
1 mytho or cursed
1 seer
1 hunter
1 ranger
11 ords

Plus with 11 ords you could easily add in the two shirriffs.

But of course it is completely up to Malka. :D

tar-ancalime
10-14-2005, 04:20 PM
I like Wilwarin's suggestion. It seems that more special roles than that would make the game really crazy, unless we had more players. Of course, we could go the other way and try to have no ordinary villagers at all!

Just in case there are any newbies:

Here are the definitions of the special roles (as I understand them--being rather a newbie myself, please don't hesitate to correct me if I get some of this wrong).

The Seer chooses one person to dream about each NIGHT; this person's identity is revealed to the Seer.

The Ranger chooses one person to protect each NIGHT; this person cannot be killed by wolves while protected.

The Hunter chooses one person to kill at the time of his/her death.

The Cursed Villager does not die when attacked by a werewolf; instead, he/she becomes a werewolf.

The Mythomaniac chooses one person on the second NIGHT. Thereafter, the Mythomaniac takes on the same role as that person.

The Shirriffs are two innocent villagers, each of whom is aware that the other is innocent.

The WereBear (same as Black Beorning???) kills one person each NIGHT, independently of the wolves.

The Cobbler is an innocent villager who nonetheless wants the wolves to win.

Have I forgotten any? Have I horribly misrepresented any? Thanks in advance for your corrections.

wilwarin538

I can assure you from experience that you want to make sure you've got several more ordos than you do gifteds. If not, by the end of the game everyone will be identified and it takes that final-death-paranoia away entirely.

And the Mytho is a blast, but think carefully if you want one. Any choice can mean absurd swaying of the odds for either side. In both games with one, that's exactly what happened. Mith's game with an extra wolf (fantastic job again, Kath), and my own with a pair of Seers (nice choice Firefoot). The latter ensured a village victory, the former made the wolves' job easier. If you want a truly close and addictive game, you might want to opt out of using the Mytho. If you don't mind the wildcard aspect of "will the wolves get an upper hand, or will the villagers?", mythos are fun as heck.

I agree about the ratio of gifteds to non gifteds and would say that the mythomaniac hs benefits especially in larger games or where you are unsure about having an extra wolf. I would point out that Kath had guessed morm was a wolf when she chose. The mytho mane could be limited by delaying their role change or by making them choose their "twin" before the game.. but I still have an affection for the role.

A List of Medieval Occupations

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Granted, the games aren't always set in a Medieval time, but Middle Earth is often the general place for our version, so I thought I'd help out a little by offering a list I found in a great historical fiction book:

Wheelwright
Trader in crockery and pewter
Ironmonger
Fish seller
Cordwainer
Butcher
Baker
Cloth-seller
Tailor
Silversmith (intriguing possibilities in a werewolf game?)
Carpenter
Leatherworker
Bellows-maker
Glover
Hatter
Yarnmaker
Rabbitseller
Spicer
Greengrocer
Garlic seller (again, interesting possibilities?)
Poultry merchant
Cooper (barrel maker)
Coal seller
Salt merchant
Oatmeal seller
Hog dealer
Wool merchant
Carter
Mason
Shepherd
Coppersmith
Money lender
Cheese seller
Tanner
Aulnager (exacter of fees and fines from the local feudal lord)

There are probably more, but this list was all in one place, so I thought I'd offer it.

I left out the sacred professions as they are not appropo to Middle Earth.
I brought this over here for some ideas.
I'm a she, I'll be a tanner.

Really? Great, that is such an uplifter!

I've been trying to find a slot in these profound games and have been baffled by how fast they disappear. Also of course, how I end up late to anything on the downs...

Anyways, sorry for my lack of knowledgable course in this matter, but I'm guessing if a person wishes to join, they must first chose an open occupation/role? If this too broad of an understanding, it would be quite lovely if you could explain to clear up the stupidity that resides within my head.

Kitanna, I understand completely why you want to play again. You deserve another chance after that. Besides, we have room for about four more people because Modkatoj's limit was 18 I believe.

Ka, as Rune previously stated, occupation means exactly that. What type of work would you like to have such as poet, innkeeper and other such things. Just look at Holby's list of occupations from the middle ages if you can't come up with one. Hope that clears things up.

And let me say that I'm glad that a few of you who were in the last game decided to play in this one. I can't wait to play with you.

Wilwa, Wayne, Kitanna and Bergil (even though you got lynched on day one Bergil), I'm glad that I get an oppurtunity to play with you all once again. Best of luck to you.

Gurthang, glad you came back and I can't wait to play with a fellow Black Beorning.

Kitanna. Historian.

There is still space for three more people. If you join, we need an Antichrist for a role, please consider it.

Roles will be:
3 werewolves
1 seer
1 ranger
1 hunter
1 mythomaniac

If there's anything I'm forgetting, please tell me. Also, on NIGHT 1, (my death) I get a name from the Seer, right? But nobody else.

One other thing for you all to decide. I'd like to start the game tomorrow as I definitely have enough people, but since I'm planning on going with the 9 GMT-5. Unfortunately, I have a fencing class that gets out at 9 GMT-5 and I won't be home until 10. I feel it would be very unprofessional to have the backup post the first death, so I think that, as much as I hate waiting, starting on Tuesday would be, in general, a better idea. However, if you villagers just want to get it started, I'm willing to work something out with Abercrombie or have someone else (who may or may not have been visiting this weekend) log in as me and post the death, though I'm not sure I can trust him to *not* mess up.

If you want to start tomorrow despite my dilemma, registration will close at 4:00 GMT-5 tomorrow. If you are okay with starting on Tuesday, then it'll be same time, but on Tuesday, so I can get the roles all set.

Thanks for the patience while I was gone.

I don't like the retractable votes. It's what sealed my fate in my first WW game (ok not a good reason...) but also then there's a chance people will keep changing their minds and retract their votes alot. Will get quite confusing.

As for the punishment after two days of silence I'd say no if they have a good reason for being gone and they post in advance. Other then that I don't really mind.

I could care less about double lynchings.

I was going to do what Glirdan did last time--post the rules at some point during the day, then allow the wolves to PM until my death, which would be followed by a DAY.

I could post my death early (6:30) and not allow anyone to post until 9, thus allowing the wolves to PM until then. That way, I could get the game started ASAP and not lose the dignity of being an Absentee (G/M)od on the first day.

If that's too confusing, tell me, but I think it'll be the best way.

It's just a role playing type game Eorl. You have a town that has been cursed because there are three Wolves living amongst them. The villagers job is to try and find the Wolves to save the town. There is also a Seer who dreams about people at Night and will be able to tell who's a Wolf if he chooses the right person. Then there are a bunch of other characters such as the Ranger (protects villagers at Night) and a Hunter (chooses one person to kill with them if they get attacked at Night) plus many other roles such as the Sherriffs, Werebear, Cobbler, Cursed and Mythomaniac. Hope that clears things up.

Now, since I'm the starter of this thread (not that that has a whole lot of power) please refrain from posting on this thread unless it's to explain an absence or to say you will be absent or for any other reasons such as that. Another thing, please refrain from talking about the game whether you're alive or dead. As SpM once told me, you might accidently give something away about the game. Mind you I would have thought the mod would have said all this. (That's just a tease malka. Don't take it personally)

Well, that being cleared up, and the last post deleted to prevent cluttering up the thread, may I join in?

Sorry Eorl, the game's already started. Keep an eye open for the next one, though.

To the rest of you: Please read the rules in the first thread. If I realize I miss something, I edit and add it--I've added voting rules and rules about when and where you can talk about the game. I may be adding more if I think of them. If you'd please check up on that periodically, it would save me having to yell at you all.

I'm going to count votes that didn't have the correct format toDAY because I edited and didn't tell anyone. TOMORROW, though, don't plan to be so lucky.

i wouldn't mind modding the next WWJ game, or even be in it...

Sorry Gil, Perky will be modding the next game. And I think I changed my mind. I'll be in Perky's game, which will be my last one until December. And now I know why you don't go outside and socialize with people when you're in a WW game.

Requesting to join next game...how many games are going on anyway?

The original Werewolf game was so popular that we started a second thread. It is called junior partly because it was newer and partly because it was thought that it would give newer players a chance to gain experience. In effect it has just widened the net !!!

While Perky may take note of people posting here it might be worth Personal Messaging him, because the game requires a faily big commitment over a specific period of time, some mods prefer to post game details before recruiting.

Welcome to the Downs BTW

I will not be abel to post that much tommorow, since me and some of my friends (who is not imaginary; I hope . . .) is going to watch the LOTR movies and have a game of LOTR Risk.

We have been talking about it for a while and then it was decided yesterday that tomorrow would be the day! I am just following orders.

This mean that I will proberbly only be online in between the movies and only for a short period of time.

What do you mean by that? I didn't sign up. Unless you're talking about why I didn't vote, in which case I should no better.

As Wilwa said, no signing up for the next game because then the thread gets cluttered up with people wanting to sign up and all this other mumbo jumbo which is really not neccessary. Come back and sign up when Perky gets back, which should be sometime next week.

OOPS!!! Just noticed that!! I take it back!! No, even better, I'll rephrase that. "I'll hopefully be in Perky's game". Better?

Anyway, enough with the chit chat. No signing up while current game is running. And please, Please, PLEASE, refrain from posting on here. :( I know I am, but this will be my last post on this thread (unless there's to much posting) until the game is over.

Oh, and Wilwa, don't answer that. :p

I put in a request to mod after Perky, but methinks no one saw it...

So far, it goes Perky, Kitanna, Gil and now Mith. Sorry for forgetting you Kitanna. But you'll get your chance. So we will wait and see if Perky has the chance to mod. If not, Kitanna will take over. Sound good?

Now the game's ended, so can people sign up? (Or is it full?) I'd like to sign up, but if the next game's going to start very soon I fear I'll have problems, because I can't get computer access next weekend. So when can I sign up for the next game and when does the next game start?

I'd say. But by the looks of things, the WW games will be dying out for the next little while so I don't know if we will need a WWJ game right now. We will wait and see how many people join the WW game because we know that there are already a lot of people who won't be playing in Spawn's game. But we'll wait and see....

So first game after Feb 18th is mine.

I'm a bit afraid about joining a real WW game, so maybe I'll wait for the next junior game...

Glirdan
10-30-2005, 11:08 AM
I'm sure those of you who have played in the last two are probably ready to join the real WW games Thin. That means you, Sleepy, Bergil Eonwe and Rune. Ka would do really well to. Kitanna, Wayne, Wilwa, Holby, Gurthang, Fea, TORE, Folwren have already played with the other members, so if you don't think you're ready, ask one of them for a second opinion. But I still believe you five are ready for it.

As for the next WWJ game, I'm starting to think that there won't be one, unless it's a very small game of about 7 to 10 people. That would mean like the first game of WW there ever was. 1 Seer and 3 Wolves. The rest would be Ordo's. I believe so because Spawn's game has very few people playing aas of yet. But we will wait and see.

Gil-Galad

i've been thinking of like a WW gang-war, i'm still working it out but i think that i could have 6 werewolves, 3 on each side, and 10 ordinary villagers(that includes ranger, seer, hunter, guardian) basically the villagers have to kill all the werewolves, werewolves have to snuff out the opposing werewolves and villagers, i might have a Black Beorning in there too...

i'm still working on it

Glirdan
10-30-2005, 11:43 AM
That sounds like an awsome idea Gil. I'd really like to play in that. If you need help working out little kinks or just want idea's, don't hesitate to ask. ;)

Now, if you do start this Gil, we'll have to work out a schedule because I really like Mith's idea of having a one day WW game. So, we could start out with having the normal WW game and WWJ running. Once that's over, we could have Gil's game, and then once that's over, we can have Mith's idea going and then start over. That way, the games don't get to boring and it's evened out. What do you guys think?

Gil-Galad

rotate through the different types of games to make it interesting...

Thinlómien
10-30-2005, 01:28 PM
Gil-Galad,
Gang war sounds cool.. Though there should be probably more ordos than in a normal game. And wouldn't it be nice to have fg. werewolves against werejackals or something? (Aww, it would be quit scary to be an ordo in such a game...)

Gil-Galad
10-30-2005, 01:31 PM
i'm still thinking of how to work it out, i've been thinking of maybe giving the Ord's some advantage so they don't get brutalized...i might add in more Ords

Eonwe
10-30-2005, 01:41 PM
That means you, Sleepy, Bergil Eonwe and Rune.

yeah, but i really want to play in perky's. :( that is if there is a perky's game...

um, gang wars sound fun, if only becuase "gang war" sounds like fun. just kidding. it sounds good, but i don't really konw how it would work. is it just like six wolves, two groups of three, acting independently. then we would need double teh gifteds, at least, and double the ordos (at least). sounds very convoluted, meaning very fun. ;)

ps. if there are not enough slots in either perky's and/or the big kids game, i prolly need to sit out. actually i really do, but i prolly won't. ;)

I really wantet to try "the real deal", but wantet even more to be in a game with Perky as the mod! So is there going to be a Perky game ?

WW gang war sounds like a cool idear and I am sure you will find a way to make it work Gil. I allso think that the rotation system sugestet by Glirdan sound good.
