Galadriel55 sneaked into Agan’s room and left a note on the windowsill,
and that little note said:
Sing hey! for the bath at the close of day
that washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is a noble thing!
Agan thought it was the electricity bill,
and picturesquely she dropped dead:
http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y62/Aganzir/pt18_zps790e67ae.jpeg
Greenie the Healer quickly appeared,
And diagnosed it:
There was only one bathtub at Crickhollow, but fortunately it was big enough.
Kitanna, Assistant, standing at the rear
Put a stamp on the sheet:
http://i1206.photobucket.com/albums/bb454/Galadriel55/Paper%20Telephone/Kitspic_zpse974d670.jpg
To a random passerby
Oddwen whispered from a booth:
Merry was aware of Pippin's vigorous bathtime escapades and came up with a plan to prevent damage being done to Crickhollow.
Nogrod screamed, “That’s a lie!
But I will draw the truth!”

An astronomer with a telescope, gazing around,
Reported from Amon Lanc:
With Frodo safely out of the door, the future squire of Gondor finally had time to fully utilise the Crickhollow bathroom to his decadent tastes.
Sleepy Hook was annoyed at the sound,
And threw a paper airplane from his bunk:
http://i40.tinypic.com/e5r33l.png
A level below, beside a sconce,
Gil Galad exclaimed as he caught the plane:
Pippin broods at Merry for going trick-or-treating without him and his Gondor mascot costume, but plots his revenge in the upcoming Crickhollow Toilet Races.
Lommy sneezed in response,
Making this sketch in a window pane:

Rune with cleaning supplies and these words
The window began to attack:
Ted Sandyman's resentment of Sam's restoration efforts, led to some rather disturbing thoughts of a fecal nature.
BG, one of the local nerds,
Stuck a note on his back:

Agan entered with a clatter,
Breaking through the rhyming pattern:
The defilement of Crickhollow received mixed reactions.
“What can this pure nonsense mean?”
Wondered then A Little Green
http://i44.tinypic.com/nbxc78.jpg
Kit provides an explanation
With a noisy exclamation:
The four stooges with Azog the Defiler pillage Bag-End
Oddwen doodled as she listened,
In her book a picture glistened:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v58/Oddwen/downsstuff/ptelephoneoddwen02062014_zps139604d3.jpg
Picture posted in a blog,
It was criticized by Nog:
After tons of criticism for leaving the scouring of the Shire out from the LotR-movies PJ has decided to make it good for the fans and added a scouring of Bag End -scene into the Hobbit-trilogy where ruffians led by Azog do the job. In related news Lego has become a major financial partner of the movies.
Selling cupcakes for a rally,
Came along the sunny sally:

Mumbled quietly ol’ Hook
As he sally’s cupcakes took:
The faceless men in flares were forced to clean paper bags for Punk-Rock-Balrog. Meanwhile, Smaug relives his childhood dream of drinking tea and watching a pile of bad things land on top of the Lord of the Rings.
Gil provided illustrations
For all Nogrod’s vindications:
http://oi62.tinypic.com/161ffgw.jpg
She was headed for the win,
Although she was somewhat Thin:
Burglars benefit when balrogs and dragons start new hobbies.
“Are we gonna finish soon?”
Asked the somewhat hasty Rune:
http://i90.photobucket.com/albums/k267/runesf/ee38312d-b73b-4eb5-b8f2-bff27c4d6049.jpg
“I agree,” as last said Blind,
“Let’s put this long game behind.”
During a very important meeting, the Balrog was defeated by a pizza throwing Hobbit-king and a Soduko-playing smirking Smaug.
Legate painted the back cover
And the Telephone was over:
http://i1206.photobucket.com/albums/bb454/Galadriel55/Paper%20Telephone/Legatespic_zps822c066f.jpg

Since Wousides seems to have disappeared, we're skipping them and are now one player short. Would anybody like to step in?
I'd also like to talk about text in pictures. While I think random words and letters are fine (as long as they don't make it blatanly obvious what the picture is about), speech & thought bubbles often lead to the next sentence being almost identical to the previous one. I'm sure that's not what anybody wants, so please consider leaving them out altogether.

Bilbo wished Gandalf would enter his hole as he used to, uninvited.
Frodo woke and found himself lying in Galadriel55.
http://i1206.photobucket.com/albums/bb454/Galadriel55/Paper%20Telephone/Agans3_zpse4deb40f.png
At first he thought he had slept late, after a long unpleasant sally that still hovered on the edge of memory.
Bilbo has trouble deciding who should come to his party and contemplates if Gandalf will show up even without an invite.
Or perhaps he had been Kitanna?
http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y62/Aganzir/untitled_by_childofthewest-d7mw1vo_zps5556527d.jpg
But the ceiling looked strange; it was flat, and it had dark Hookbills richly carved.
Gandalf liked to show up uninvited to parties. So when Bilbo had the audacity to actually INVITE him to one, the wizard was reduced to childish taunts to express his bubbling rage.
He lay a little while longer looking at patches of Legate on the wall...

Professional gate-crasher Saruman is offended when he gets an actual invitation to Bilbo's birthday party.
'Where am I, and what is the time?' he said aloud to the Oddwen.

'In the Lommy of Elrond, and it is ten o'clock in the morning,' said a voice.
Saruman was shocked, yet not unprepared, when he received an invitation to Robin Smallhood's infamous masquerade.
'It is the morning of Nogrod the twenty-fourth, if you want to know.'

'Gandalf!' cried Frodo, sitting up. There was the old wizard, sitting in an Eönwë by the open window.
Saruman of Many Colours comes face-to-face with some of the horrifying consequences of cloning himself.

...and his madness in putting on the Kitanna in the dell under Weathertop.
Gandalf discusses his plans for getting into Dol Guldur with Radagast, but Radagast is too busy thinking about the eating habits of fluffy bunnies.

...there was a long silence, broken only by the soft puffs of Gandalf's pipe, as he blew white Legate-rings out of the window.

'Where's Sam?' Frodo asked at length. 'And are the others all sally?'

The five wizards are upset that the Burger King of the Nazgul was sorted into Gryffindor, yet their desires for beef divide them.

Many elements of the PT really blew my mind.
I was especially fond of Lommy and Volo's drawings, but I thought almost all of the drawings had a bit of brilliance.
I love how Oddwen's drawing style is similar to my own, I also enjoyed that she found a way to include Gryffindor.
It says a lot about Nogrod that he got 'Catalan independence movement' from a two coloured scarf.

This had so many great drawings, and also this time especially the sentences made an impact, some quite innovative things in there! My absolutely favourite twist is the Catalan Independance Movement :D And of the pictures, both the Last Suppers by Lommy and Eönwë, and also Rune's Saruman and the googly-eyed clone behind him is an incredible work of art! Wow! I also like a lot Greenie's (I like how the Wizards are thinking of wheels and rabbits and mushrooms), Volo's and Nogrod's (what kind of psychedelia is that?) creative art. And special thumbs up to sally for the original image of Witch-King.
And, of course, thanks to Aganzir for putting it all together and most of all, keeping it swift and flowing! I'd say this is a trend we should keep in the future as well.
I skimmed the results yesterday in a sleep meds induced and fever powered pseudocoma while having difficulty to string two sentences into a coherent narrative and was freaked out by Agan-gets-things-done-zir's story, seriously, I shuddered.
Thanks an excellent first sentence and I'm proud of continuing the innuendo - it must be in the air I and Agan breathe in this suburb unofficially called Fairy Land. (It's probably just as well that I didn't draw the first picture.)
The Catalan and da Vinci stuff were also my favourite moments. Eönwë's picture should enter the post-modernist hall of fame.
I don't entirely get it how Legate came up with that sentence of his, but it's an excellent question. Also laughs at what I take to be a Firefly reference in your picture.
What's Noggie's phantasmagoria based on? Painting, album cover?
Kitanna's creative use of Bilbo's photo I enjoyed.

Are you implying I'm ever anything but prim and proper? I'm dismayed.
I must stress I'm really thankful that almost everyone respected the time limit in this game. It's not very much fun if the game drags and you're not able to tell when your turn comes up, and I bet it's stressful for the mod to engage for months at a time. I hope we can maintain this pace in the future as well. And remember - if you're busy, you can ask to be moved down the list even without a modly prompt!

As soon as it finally got to deviate from the original sentence it was just genius all along.
And like somebody already said, this time it was oftentimes the sentences that kind of pushed the story on towards new paths and which made one smile ever wider.
That said, extra kudos to Eönwë's and Lommy's rendering of the Last Supper, Algae's dreamy smoking wizards and Legate's wild cartoon on Gandalf's journeys...

That, in fact, is not really that impressive. Gandalf or Wizard(s) of any kind are kind of hard to confuse with anything. Even a Hobbit may get extrapolated for, say, Tom Bombadil or for some fat person, the only thing you can mix up Wizard with is exactly Dwarves, but even then it's pretty likely that had the PT continued, sooner or later the Dwarves would change into Wizards at some point. Gandalf, Gollum and Alien are the type of characters who are very difficult to get rid of.

I'll be nice and mod for you bunch. It's not like I was doing anything else but sitting at the office all summer anyway.
List of players (will be shuffled before the game starts)
Greenie

I think a couple of more players and we can get the ball rolling. Translation: sign ups still open and more than welcome.
Also because I mod we're doing doubles. If I could double participate myself I totally would, but I doubt it'd be fair. ;) If I'm feeling creative though I will start the game with a picture...

Yes, anyone out there? :)
We need one more person to have a complete round. Let's start when that person turns up (and your moddess finds a sec to draw or photoshop a masterpiece) or on July 1st anyway. After that people I can still take two people if there are more enthusiasts, but only if there are two (not one).
Please keep an eye on your PMs (e-mail notifications are a good idea). I'm going to give people a bit more time than the last round since it's summer an I assume people may be busy, but if you don't write your sentence in 3 days or draw your picture in 5 days, I'm going to shuffle your turn. I also may harass you on Facebook or something, but I'd rather not use my energy on that. ;) Also, keeping an eye on the list every now and then and letting me know in advance if you suspect you'll be too busy when it's your turn is appreciated.

So, as it happened, your beloved Lommoddess found herself yearning for the sea - as Elves are wont to do - and ended up drawing this:
http://i69.photobucket.com/albums/i55/Thinlomien/pt01_zpsntvwonws.png (http://s69.photobucket.com/user/Thinlomien/media/pt01_zpsntvwonws.png.html)
Poor Hookbill was very shocked...
It's a geological nightmare! Maglor sings on the coast while Maedhros explores the earth's molten crust. How will our heroes get out of this? Perhaps this carefully labelled diagram of the mantle will help...
...but was eventually calmed down by Kath's magnificent artistic skills:
http://i69.photobucket.com/albums/i55/Thinlomien/Paper-Telephone-page-001_zps0ugzmpes.jpg (http://s69.photobucket.com/user/Thinlomien/media/Paper-Telephone-page-001_zps0ugzmpes.jpg.html)
Meanwhile, under the sea, an octopus named Nogrod came to the conclusion that
The downfall of Númenor was caused just by geological forces and had nothing to do with the flawed human nature. It was a dream that would leave its mark on Isildur.
...which didn't make any sense to Sally until she visualized it, like this:
http://i69.photobucket.com/albums/i55/Thinlomien/11731535_707692338201_15028689_o_zpst9azv2yu.jpg (http://s69.photobucket.com/user/Thinlomien/media/11731535_707692338201_15028689_o_zpst9azv2yu.jpg.h tml)
Thinlómien
09-14-2015, 12:24 PM
Legate didn't get any visionary visions out of the visualization, but rather an observation:
For once, the Arda Weather Forecast Service was perfectly correct in its predictions.
Unfortunately, he wasn't observant enough to notice Galadriel55 and her pack had torn him into shreds overNight - wait, wrong game, oops. Anyhow, here's the pattern the blood form Gal's claws formed on... a piece of paper?
http://i69.photobucket.com/albums/i55/Thinlomien/PAPERTELEPHONE_zps1zxdr1ap.jpg (http://s69.photobucket.com/user/Thinlomien/media/PAPERTELEPHONE_zps1zxdr1ap.jpg.html)
The paper turned out to be invaluable evidence for solving the murder. Detective Pitchwife described it as follows:
The hobbits were sceptical whether Bombadil's plan to privatize the Shire's weather would really lead to a brighter future.
Lieutenant Greenie was not impressed. The description resulted in this angry doodle:
http://i69.photobucket.com/albums/i55/Thinlomien/pt%20715_zpsqm9ohgsi.png (http://s69.photobucket.com/user/Thinlomien/media/pt%20715_zpsqm9ohgsi.png.html)
Fortunately for us, the lieutenant left her doodle on her desk, where the always smiling cleaner, Mr Eönwë, found it. Thoroughly impressed, he wrote in his diary that night:
Uncertain market forces seem posed to threaten Hobbiton in a big way.
Later that night, his house was burgled and his diary was taken. Just to mock him, Rune the burglar drew this next to the last diary entry:
http://i69.photobucket.com/albums/i55/Thinlomien/PapeTele20151_zpsmidmym1i.jpg (http://s69.photobucket.com/user/Thinlomien/media/PapeTele20151_zpsmidmym1i.jpg.html)
Thinlómien
09-14-2015, 12:25 PM
Unfortunately for the burglar, his roommate found the diary. Her name was Aganzir and she found the picture hilarious. She laughed so much she couldn't talk, so instead she typed this on her phone:
Sauron buries himself in good Shire soil to keep safe from his disillusioned subordinates.
The message was accidentally sent to no one else but a mighty orc warlord named Oddwen. She was so inspired that she designed this new emblem for her minions:
http://i69.photobucket.com/albums/i55/Thinlomien/ptelephone07282015%20copy_zpswcgjhqvo.jpg (http://s69.photobucket.com/user/Thinlomien/media/ptelephone07282015%20copy_zpswcgjhqvo.jpg.html)
The rivaling warlord, Firefoot, found this a ridiculous idea. After a few flasks of Orc draught, she described her enemy's new insignia as a silly mess that looks as if
Sauron was dismayed to find that covering Mordor in soybean fields both heartened any Hobbits passing through and caused his Orcs an existential crisis.
As you might guess, this mockery had a mixed reception. In fact, even a cartoon was made, by no one else but the famous goblin cartoonist Hookbill the Gobla:
http://i69.photobucket.com/albums/i55/Thinlomien/11798352_10153553478629357_146619429_n_zpskb8pktur .jpg (http://s69.photobucket.com/user/Thinlomien/media/11798352_10153553478629357_146619429_n_zpskb8pktur .jpg.html)
Thankfully the world is full of witty reporters. The Elvish press - with journalists like Kath - quickly described the spit between the orc factions as
Sauron, taking a break from tormenting Saruman in Orthanc, is trying to explain to Bilbo (who had come to buy some totally unsuspicious soy beans) how irritating it is when German sunbathers lay their towels down on your vegetables, while aliens find themselves on his soy only menu.
The Dwarvish press was content to just publish this paparazzi picture - taken by Nogrod Ninjabeard - to show the quality of Elvish journalists:
http://i69.photobucket.com/albums/i55/Thinlomien/Paper%20telephone%200815_zpsi18buplk.jpg (http://s69.photobucket.com/user/Thinlomien/media/Paper%20telephone%200815_zpsi18buplk.jpg.html)
Thinlómien
09-14-2015, 12:26 PM
It is a little known fact that the aforementioned cartoon was the inspiration for the classic Bildungsroman by Sally. The first sentence reads as follows:
Bilbo has reservations about the Sandwitch King's vegetarian options.
Also, did you know there is a rare illustrated edition of the novel? The reason why the novel is so rare is because the illustrations were... ahem... banned in most of the (un)civilized world. See Legate's artwork and you'll know why:
http://i69.photobucket.com/albums/i55/Thinlomien/pt082015_zpssrb1w5zy.jpg (http://s69.photobucket.com/user/Thinlomien/media/pt082015_zpssrb1w5zy.jpg.html)
If you still don't know why, let this statement by Galadriel55, the spokesperson for the International Court of Censoring Everything, enlighten you:
None of the desert Nazgul notice that Bilbo uses the Ring to steal food from their personal oasis.
And now - do you know what's the problem of censorship? It breeds opposition, even revolution. One day the famous street artist Pitchwife had covered the walls of the headquarters of the ICCE with this:
http://i69.photobucket.com/albums/i55/Thinlomien/GTegn0l_zpsytwrxofx.jpg (http://s69.photobucket.com/user/Thinlomien/media/GTegn0l_zpsytwrxofx.jpg.html)
The revolution spread like wildfire, until someone (later simply known as "Greenie") scribbled this on the wall in the bottom left corner of the painting that had sparked it all:
The Nazgűl did not realise that focusing on work ruins a vacation.
Even later, there were numerous paintings depicting the unsuccesful revolution. This piece by Eönwë is the one I'd hang on my wall - if it wasn't in the Guggenheim already...
http://i69.photobucket.com/albums/i55/Thinlomien/IMG-20150827-WA0004_zpsztgqyabr.jpg (http://s69.photobucket.com/user/Thinlomien/media/IMG-20150827-WA0004_zpsztgqyabr.jpg.html)
Thinlómien
09-14-2015, 12:27 PM
Thanks to Rune the museum curator, the tag next to the painting doesn't tell the name of the artist and the piece, but rather this cryptic riddle:
In the end, it was incompatible definitions of “a working holiday” that destroyed the otherwise beautiful friendship between The Mouth of Sauron and The Nazgűls.
Well, fortunately we have clever symbologists like Aganzir who can trace the riddle back to this ritual painting by the Illuminati:
http://i69.photobucket.com/albums/i55/Thinlomien/papertelephone_hanninomakultimussukkamariarakas_zp s2rqlcxax.jpg (http://s69.photobucket.com/user/Thinlomien/media/papertelephone_hanninomakultimussukkamariarakas_zp s2rqlcxax.jpg.html)
Just kidding. The Illuminati is never involved. The riddle was simply a misquotation of the famous thought by Oddwen:
The Mouth of Sauron knew that Sauron suffered from Vala envy, but when care of a tree was given to the Nazgul and took precedence over their usual vile duties, he knew something had to be done.
Okay, that was a lie, sorry about that. The Illuminati don't like their secrets revealed. Please have this lovely get well card by Firefoot as a compensation for my lies, and for the tears of pain this round of paper telephone may have caused:
http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b55/HolbytlaFirefoot/Mobile%20Uploads/1441851952890-1955027485.jpg (http://s17.photobucket.com/user/HolbytlaFirefoot/media/Mobile%20Uploads/1441851952890-1955027485.jpg.html)

Oh goodness! This round definitely had some serious creativity going on! (Sun bathing Germans? Seriously? Where the hell did that even come from?) Fabulous pictures and fantastic sentences. Kudos to all!
But, a few points I think deserve a special mention.
So, as it happened, your beloved Lommoddess found herself yearning for the sea - as Elves are wont to do - and ended up drawing this:

'Twas the skin of my enemies. I am secretly a Bolton. :D
Oddy's picture and following it Firefoot orc existential crisis sentence are absolutely hilarious!
EEK Kath's sentence!!!

It was a good round - I liked all the pictures and I agree that the sentences were excellent this time around. I kept telling people to keep them short and I wanted to tell Kath to make hers shorter, but it was so hilarious I just couldn't. :D
If I *had* to pick favourites among the picture, though, I'd probably pick Eönwë's forlorn workaholic Nazgűls and Oddwen's orcs having a massive revelation. I about died when I saw both of those for the first time. :D

Once upon a time Pitchwife was sitting at his desk and compiling viewing statistics for Minhiriath Transmitting Variety (MTV) to improve his pension plan. "Goldberry felt left out when Gandalf and Bombadil celebrated their reunion by drinking all night while watching the Arda Cup," he wrote; but on second thought he decided to protect Goldberry's privacy, scrunched the page up and tossed it out of the window.
It hit street artist Eönwë on the head and inspired him to draw this on the pavement:
http://i.imgur.com/mIhceVzh.jpg
Firefoot, who just happened to pass by, was so impressed by this masterpiece that she had to tell Nogrod about it. "Galadriel," she exclaimed, "was indignant to find that Gandalf and Pippin were using the palantir as a big screen projector to watch a soccer game."
Nogrod found the story appealing and hacked the aurora borealis to paint it on the northern sky:

The phenomenon was seen even in far-off Canada by none other than Galadriel herself, the 55th of her name, who wasn't amused to find that Gandalf and Frodo were misusing Galadriel's mirror to watch reality shows.
Formendacil observed it too and sent this snapshot to his local newspaper:

Chief Editor Legateimmediately stopped the press and changed the headline to read Galadriel's Middle-Earth Seeks SuperStar performance did not impress the legless members of the jury. But Oddwen was on the scene already and shot this picture for the evening news:
http://i.imgur.com/qT5Plesh.jpg
Rune, reporting live from the competition, breathlessly told his phone: "An extremely diverse jury is unable to agree on whether Galadriel possesses the qualities necessary to emulate Eärendil",
while A Little Green caught the spirit of the scene in a porcelain sculpture of unembroidered elegance:
http://i.imgur.com/JAAlNhIh.jpg
Tea-GEW saw this in a porcelain shop while looking for a new teapot and was struck by its relevance to American history. "The founding fantasy fathers look on in court while Gil-Galad makes his speech," she told Rikae, who proceeded to carve this scene into the north face of Caradhras:

"Even having friends in the jury won't save Elrond this time," court reporer Thinlomien concluded from this monument of juridical procedure, and Hookbill could not but concur in his editorial on the front page of the Downer:
http://i.imgur.com/lFObGjV.jpg
"Elrond's parenting hits the headlines yet again," sighed Eönwë, reading the Downer at breakfast, as always (first breakfast, that is, but rumour has it he also reads it at second breakfast, elevenses, luncheon, afternoon tea, dinner and supper).
Firefoot, agreeing with his sentiment, drew this into her diary:
http://i.imgur.com/2MNS6wQh.jpg
She died of boredom shortly thereafter. Her diary resurfaced in a Finnish second hand bookshop where it was bought by Nogrod. "Some thought that after 7500 seasons the plot-twists and turns of the family-saga of two great brothers' families were starting to repeat themselves," he observed.
Gal55 was not among those. In tireless ploy she turned the whole saga into an illustrated tear-off calendar of 7500 pages:

Formendacil, who had bought one of Gal55's calendars, couldn't contain his disappointment when he found that every single one of its 7500 pages was identical! "The calendar of the Seventh Age was a trifle monotonous," he complained.
Apparently the monotony extended even to the celestial spheres, for later that night Legate observed this in his telescope:
http://i.imgur.com/XSj6vWxh.jpg
"Tilion always takes a bow and pines for the glory days of Aule The Smiths during that time of the month," Oddwen commented when he allowed her to look through the glass.
Rune was haunted by troubling dreams that very same night, and waking up sketched this:
http://i.imgur.com/bq7RwUeh.jpg
He showed it to his Little Green psychotherapist who analysed it as "Legolas is alarmed by a Gimli-shaped cloud."
This was overheard by TGEW who found the idea intriguing enough to turn it into a fresco extending along a whole corridor:

A hundred years after TGEW's house had fallen apart into a heap of potsherds, archeologist Rikae discovered the fresco during excavations and mailed this description to his colleague, Lommy: "In a green haze, an old elf man yells at a cloud."
But when the accompanying picture came out of Lommy's printer it looked like this:
http://i.imgur.com/cTXGeji.jpg
Befuddled, Lommy turned to Hookbill, the resident expert on things green, hazy or otherwise weird. He explained it thusly: "Mighty sea god, Cirdan, curses the single cloud that has thwarted his sailing plans."
And the mythology of Middle-earth never was the same again.

Good gracious me! That was incredible! :D
Rikae's fantasy founding fathers made me laugh.

This was wonderful! It is pretty cool that the subjects depicted kept changing all the time. And both the sentences and the pics were splendid. My top two, though, are Rikae's founding fantasy fathers and then I am super happy for Hookbill utilising The Downer. That was a wonderful way to bring back the memories!
And of course thanks to Pitch for modding. This was a great round.

That was terrific! Loved every bit of it. And the starting sentence was great! Thanks for modding this, Pitch!
And the mythology of Middle-earth never was the same again.
Tilion's mood swings certainly won't be!
(Now that I think of it, you can probably measure the passing of my innocent-mindedness by my reactions to Paper Telephones. :D)
Loved all the sentences and pictures. A couple that deserve an extra bow, I think, are Hook's Downer (yay! It's back! And with amazingly accurate text too!), Oddwen's legless Legolas, and Legate's monotonous calendar, which made me chuckle. I was also really amazed by all the great artwork!
I second (third?) liking the constant changes. I loved how one picture or sentence would drastically change the topic or bring in hilarious new elements. This was fantastic! Let's do it again!

The drawings by Greenie and Rikae were my favourites, though it was Lommys that made me laugh the hardest.

It was a pleasure to mod for you crazy inventive people and watch the subject change this way and that way. Thanks to all of you for playing!
I loved Oddwen's picture and the sentence by Legate which prompted it, Rune's interpretation of 'superstar' as 'Eärendil' (thumbs up for that), Greenie's Gilgaladriel, Rikae's founding fathers (that was one of the best!), Gal55's calendar, which was a great way to visualize Nog's rather abstract sentence, Hookbill's Downer page (pure nostalgia, and yes I read the whole text too!), everything about Tilion, Lommy's green Círdan (he isn't ugly, he's cute! But what about Abraham Lincoln?)... Great stuff.
Who's next modding? I'll play.

This was so funny!
My favourites include Eönwë's picture (that palantír!), G55's sentence, Form's picture (that remote!), the whole court/founding fathers thing (amazing pictures, Greenie and Rikae!), the whole cloud thing (I love Rune's picture and how it becomes Gimli-shaped cloud which in turn becomes old man yells at cloud). My absolute favourite is Lommy's sentence though: "Even having friends in the jury won't save Elrond this time." So to the point and cruel. :D
It seems to have been half a year, but I'm happy to mod the next round.

Very well. I will send out the first sentence today.
General rule of thumb: if it's your turn to write a sentence, please do so within a day, if you are supposed to draw a picture, please do so within three days. I will keep poking you if you don't.
We are doing doubles, and the list, as it stands, would be:
Legate of Amon Lanc - write
Pitchwife - draw
Rune son of Bjarne - write
Huinesoron - draw
Oddwen - write
satansaloser2005 - draw
Formendacil - write
Galadriel55 - draw
TGEW - write
Thinlómien - draw
Pitchwife- write
Rune son of Bjarne- draw
Huinesoron - write
Oddwen - draw
satansaloser2005 - write
Formendacil - draw
Galadriel55 - write
TGEW - draw
Thinlómien - write
Legate of Amon Lanc - draw
Of course, if someone still appears before the first round is done and wants to join, we can do some last-minute mixing up. Same if you feel the need to switch places for any reason, please just say so, and we can do it.

Legate of Amon Lanc
05-12-2018, 04:49 AM
All right, the time has come! Friends, 'Downers, dear guests.
Today, we have gathered here to witness the incredible process of madness. Namely, how in the name of all, this:
Lazy Lob and crazy Cob
are weaving webs to wind me.
I am far more sweet than other meat,
but still they cannot find me!
turned, via a long process, eventually into this:
http://i529.photobucket.com/albums/dd339/polomaci/pt/Paper%20Telephone%202/pt20.jpg (http://s529.photobucket.com/user/polomaci/media/pt/Paper%20Telephone%202/pt20.jpg.html)
You don't understand, do you. Neither do I, despite having seen it all. But let's start from the beginning and go through it all, step by step.
Buckle up, we are just about to start the ride.
Legate of Amon Lanc
05-12-2018, 04:51 AM
So once again - as mentioned above, we started with the traditional piece of poetry from Bilbo Baggins's collection.
"Lazy Lob and crazy Cob
are weaving webs to wind me.
I am far more sweet than other meat,
but still they cannot find me!"
It was represented by Pitchwife thus:
http://i529.photobucket.com/albums/dd339/polomaci/pt/Paper%20Telephone%202/pt02.jpg (http://s529.photobucket.com/user/polomaci/media/pt/Paper%20Telephone%202/pt02.jpg.html)
Upon seeing this, Rune immediately knew what was the issue here:
Lobelia's experiment with genetically modified corn greatly improved productivity among the Mirkwood spiders, though some of her other work was considered error-prone.
Huinesoron, being neither lazy, nor lob, came back with this depiction:
http://i529.photobucket.com/albums/dd339/polomaci/pt/Paper%20Telephone%202/pt04.png (http://s529.photobucket.com/user/polomaci/media/pt/Paper%20Telephone%202/pt04.png.html)
Quoth the Oddwen:
There isn't mushroom for error when you garden under the direction of Little Miss Muffoot.
And sally, who certainly wasn't a cob, but saying nothing about the craziness, pictured it in this manner:
http://i529.photobucket.com/albums/dd339/polomaci/pt/Paper%20Telephone%202/pt06.jpg (http://s529.photobucket.com/user/polomaci/media/pt/Paper%20Telephone%202/pt06.jpg.html)
Legate of Amon Lanc
05-12-2018, 04:52 AM
From there, things began to pick up speed. As evidenced by Formendacil's words...
The mushroom's errors loomed over the Princess's ability to see flowers.
And so, royalty had entered the picture, under the watchful eye of the court painter, Galadriel55:
http://i529.photobucket.com/albums/dd339/polomaci/pt/Paper%20Telephone%202/pt08.jpg (http://s529.photobucket.com/user/polomaci/media/pt/Paper%20Telephone%202/pt08.jpg.html)
And the famous art critic, TGEW, interpreted it thus:
The Queen looks through rose-tinted glasses at a crying mushroom with a list.
Which, in turn, prompted Lommy to portray the following scene:
http://i529.photobucket.com/albums/dd339/polomaci/pt/Paper%20Telephone%202/pt10.jpg (http://s529.photobucket.com/user/polomaci/media/pt/Paper%20Telephone%202/pt10.jpg.html)
Passing the ball, or rather the tangled cobweb, back to Pitchwife, who, after recovering from the initial shock, described it as such:
Queen Beruthiel was wont to idealise the suffering of the fungoid masses.
Rune son of Bjarne got to his work with gusto that surpassed Hobbit taste for mushrooms:
http://i529.photobucket.com/albums/dd339/polomaci/pt/Paper%20Telephone%202/pt12.jpg (http://s529.photobucket.com/user/polomaci/media/pt/Paper%20Telephone%202/pt12.jpg.html)
Legate of Amon Lanc
05-12-2018, 04:52 AM
Huinesoron had no problem figuring out what was going on:
Seven out of ten cats agree: Queen Beruthiel's scheme to barricade the mines with fungi was a masterstroke of bioengineering.
And Oddwen certainly had no problem picking up that thread:
http://i529.photobucket.com/albums/dd339/polomaci/pt/Paper%20Telephone%202/pt14.jpg (http://s529.photobucket.com/user/polomaci/media/pt/Paper%20Telephone%202/pt14.jpg.html)
With fear and trembling, sally looked upon the image, and this is what she saw:
The all-feline audience listened attentively to the presentation by The White Tree Society regarding the mission to take the ring to Mount Shroom.
And her sentence took on the following Form:
http://i529.photobucket.com/albums/dd339/polomaci/pt/Paper%20Telephone%202/pt16.jpg (http://s529.photobucket.com/user/polomaci/media/pt/Paper%20Telephone%202/pt16.jpg.html)
Galadriel55 was as puzzled as everyone else, but picked herself up, then her pencil, and wrote this:
Having failed botany class, Faramir decided to go into animal training, planning to teach cats to carry the Ring to Orodruin using the local flora for orientation.
Which was appreciated by TGEW up to the point of inspiring the following:
http://i529.photobucket.com/albums/dd339/polomaci/pt/Paper%20Telephone%202/pt18.jpg (http://s529.photobucket.com/user/polomaci/media/pt/Paper%20Telephone%202/pt18.jpg.html)
And, with that, the final stroke came from Lommy in this shape:
Faramir's dreams about an academic career in botany may have been crushed, but it didn't mean he couldn't do something with plants when he grew up.
Legate of Amon Lanc

Whereupon yours truly decided to wrap everything up with the last piece of visual art:
http://i529.photobucket.com/albums/dd339/polomaci/pt/Paper%20Telephone%202/pt20.jpg (http://s529.photobucket.com/user/polomaci/media/pt/Paper%20Telephone%202/pt20.jpg.html)
And there we are.

^I absolutely second this. You win PT, Oddwen!
Awesome game, everyone! Comments in order of appearance:
Rune - kudos for managing to translate my pictorial mess into something intelligible!
Huey - love your picture! So this is where the mushrooms came from.
Oddwen - 'mushroom for error' = pure genius!
sally - the expression of your Little Miss Muffoot! Somehow she reminds me of Dolores Umbridge.
Formy - I wonder whether the princess's eyesight was impaired by consuming the wrong mushroom?;)
G55, TGEW, - perfect examples for literal interpretation producing hilarity. Lommy too -- I loved your Queen Berúthiel! (This was my first glimpse of what had come of my picture, and I remember commenting to Legate that 'woman + food seem to have been the most tenacious elements'.)
Rune - Am I seeing things, or is that a tiny Eye above the words 'Macht Frei'? (I appreciate the historical allusion!)
Huey - glorious sentence!
From there on things took a turn towards rabid insanity. Mount Shroom!:D TGEW's cats look so unhappy, they seem to have an inkling that their quest is doomed, as evidenced by their not surviving into Lommy 's sentence. And I trust I won't be the first to have noticed that Legate's Faramir looks a lot like a self portrait.:p Thank you so much for modding this!

Indeed. When I saw the picture on the second round, my first thought was that the only thing to make it through was the shrooms. :D
It was a great round! Thanks Legate for modding and marshaling us into a fast-paced schedule! The picture at the end was a fun idea too.
I love Pitch's somewhat rebus-like picture. It's funny that 404 came up again - I thought it was hilarious!
HS, you're quite the artist. And Oddwen's setence right after - I mustache you where that idea came from, it's a stroke of genius.
Lommy's Beruthiel looks so realistically smug. It's creepy.
And in Legate's last picture the White Tree looks so sternly disapproving. It must know the Ents will not let this business continue. :D
And I trust I won't be the first to have noticed that Legate's Faramir looks a lot like a self portrait.:p Thank you so much for modding this!
Nah, Faramir looks too frowny. But second the last sentence!

I love the puns! Especial shoutout to Oddwen for Little Miss Muffoot and sally for Mount Shroom.
I'm amused (and bewildered) that two separate people included a 404 error in their pictures, and I am in awe of Lommy's Queen (is she meant to be Beruthiel?).
Oh, and I'm delighted with how long the mushrooms lasted. Obviously I would never admit to making a mistake (such as originally drawing corn, then misremembering the sentence and going 'but Lobelia would definitely be farming mushrooms instead'), so I have to insist that they're actually exceptionally modified wheat... :D

Starting tomorrow sometime during the European day, sign ups still open until then! I will still randomise the order of the players, so don't make any conclusions based on your placement on the current list. And let's try to keep it in the good old max 3 days per person! :)
