Sure thing, that's how it's done!

Nilpaurion Felagund
04-04-2004, 09:43 PM
Now...

Hador -> Galadriel

Anyway you want.

Fingolfin II
04-04-2004, 10:13 PM
Hador ->Galdor ->Hurin ->Melian ->Galadriel

Nilpaurion Felagund
04-04-2004, 10:19 PM
...you still got it right.

Your go. :)

Fingolfin II
04-04-2004, 10:23 PM
Cool.

Here's an easy one-

Erestor -> Ingwë

Nilpaurion Felagund
04-04-2004, 10:52 PM
Erestor -> Elrond -> Galadriel -> Thingol -> Ingwë

Fingolfin II
04-04-2004, 11:07 PM
You are, of course, correct.

Nilpaurion Felagund
04-04-2004, 11:37 PM
Amarië -> Bergil

Fingolfin II
04-04-2004, 11:39 PM
Amarië -> Finrod -> Galadriel -> Pippin -> Bergil

Nilpaurion Felagund
04-04-2004, 11:50 PM
Capital! http://forum.barrowdowns.com/ubb/icons/icon14.gif

Fingolfin II
04-04-2004, 11:56 PM
Running out of words to say....so I'll just give you my question:

Vardamir -> Elfwine the Fair

Nilpaurion Felagund
04-05-2004, 12:02 AM
Vardamir -> Elros -> Elrond -> Éomer -> Elfwine the Fair

:p

Fingolfin II
04-05-2004, 12:05 AM
You're up buddy (for the 50th time).

Nilpaurion Felagund
04-05-2004, 12:12 AM
This one:

Fatty Bolger -> Manwë

Oooh...scary...

Fingolfin II
04-05-2004, 12:15 AM
Fatty Bolger -> Frodo -> Elrond -> Eärendil -> Manwë

Nilpaurion Felagund
04-05-2004, 12:17 AM
..but it's OK.

Yours again.

Fingolfin II
04-05-2004, 12:24 AM
Cool, this is quite an easy one. Try the two guys with similar but weird names:

Orophin -> Oropher :p

Nilpaurion Felagund
04-05-2004, 12:34 AM
Orophin -> Frodo -> Celeborn -> Thranduil -> his father Oropher

Fingolfin II
04-05-2004, 02:45 AM
...you're right.

Could have also been

Orophin -> Legolas -> Thranduil -> Oropher (I'm not sure if Legolas knew his grandfather).

Either way, you're up.

Lindolirian
04-05-2004, 05:30 PM
My my, you two certainly had a good five hours of fun! :D And congrats to Nil on 1000+ posts he acquired in that time!

Nilpaurion Felagund
04-07-2004, 05:43 AM
Anyway...

Vinyamar -> Vinyalondë

Use only persons. :p

P.S. Thanks, Lindo. Yes, that was fun. I'd love to do that again sometime. :)

Firefoot
04-07-2004, 06:19 AM
Vinyamar -> Tar-Aldarion -> Círdan -> Tuor -> Vinyalondë

Nilpaurion Felagund
04-07-2004, 06:24 AM
Your answer was in reverse, lass. Vinyamar was visited by Tuor.

But...I'll give the thread to you. :)

Firefoot
04-07-2004, 06:35 AM
Whoops! Maybe I should wake up before answering these. ;)

Glóin -> Glaurung

You can't use Smaug - I don't know if he met Glaurung or not but you can't use him anyway.

Thorongil
04-07-2004, 07:53 AM
Gloin -> Gimli -> Galadriel -> Melian -> Turin -> Glaurung

Firefoot
04-07-2004, 08:48 AM
Perfect.

Thorongil
04-11-2004, 05:10 AM
Beren Erchamion -> Bilbo Baggins.

Firefoot
04-11-2004, 09:06 AM
Beren Erchamion -> Thingol -> Galadriel -> Frodo -> Bilbo Baggins

Thorongil
04-12-2004, 11:09 PM
Yup.

Firefoot
04-13-2004, 02:24 PM
Ghân-buri-Ghân -> Gothmog Lord of Balrogs

The Perky Ent
04-13-2004, 04:25 PM
Ghân-buri-Ghân -> Theoden -> Gandalf -> Manwe -> Morgoth -> Gothmog?

This is my first time doing this so i have no clue if i did this right! It's fun trying though

Firefoot
04-13-2004, 05:30 PM
Nice try, but you aren't supposed to use Gandalf, etc. because they know just about everybody.

The Perky Ent
04-13-2004, 05:34 PM
Ok, let me try again!

Ghân-buri-Ghân -> Theoden -> Merry -> Frodo -> Sauron -> Gothmog?

Firefoot
04-13-2004, 05:36 PM
Fewer people.

The Perky Ent
04-13-2004, 05:39 PM
But i thought it was in 6?

Firefoot
04-13-2004, 05:53 PM
YET ANOTHER NOTE: Ask for a maximum number of links to trace the difference between two characters. For instance, in the Frodo to Mauhur example you would have to figure it out using no more than 3 links.

Extra Note: Try not to use Gandalf, Saruman or Sauron if it can be helped. These people have a link to just about everybody.So maybe no one has really been following the rules for a while - no one is posting their maximum. So, in that case I would give it to you except that looking back Sauron is in the list too. Wait, now I'm confused... and getting Balrogs mixed up... So not fewer people, but different people, and the most is 4. Sorry for all the confusion!

The Perky Ent
04-13-2004, 05:56 PM
Wait, how come Frodo to Mauhur (whoever that is) has to be in 3 moves, if its 6 degrees?

Firefoot
04-13-2004, 05:58 PM
Maybe 6 degrees is just the name?

The Perky Ent
04-13-2004, 06:02 PM
But still, why 3? why not 4 or 5 or 6?

The Saucepan Man
04-13-2004, 06:24 PM
But still, why 3? why not 4 or 5 or 6? Because it could be done in three.

It is optional to set a maximum number of links. But, if the question-setter sets a maximum then it must be done in that number. Otherwise it can be done in up to 6 degrees (hence the name of the game).

But you used Sauron anyway, Perky.

How about:

Ghân-buri-Ghân -> Merry -> Glorfindel -> Ecthelion -> Gothmog.

Firefoot
04-13-2004, 07:15 PM
That's what I was looking for. Your turn, Saucepan!

The Saucepan Man
04-14-2004, 11:36 AM
Thank, Firefoot. :)

Radagast -> Azog

In three, please. And no Gandalf. :cool:

Lindolirian
04-14-2004, 02:41 PM
Radagast-> Beorn-> Bolg-> Azog

The Saucepan Man
04-14-2004, 04:26 PM
Perfect, Lindol. :)

You're up.

Lindolirian
04-15-2004, 05:49 PM
Hey that was a good one, I had to think about it for a bit... eh bout 4-5 extra seconds that is ;)

Hirgon-> Adalgrim Took
Three separations or less and no Gandalf.

The Perky Ent
04-15-2004, 06:26 PM
I think this is too much but...

Hirgon -> Theoden -> Pippin -> Adalgrim Took
?

Fingolfin II
04-15-2004, 06:36 PM
I'm not sure if Pippin knew Adalgrim, so I'll go with:

Hirgon -> Theoden -> Merry -> Bilbo -> Adalgrim Took

Lindolirian
04-15-2004, 07:04 PM
None of the above! I'm not counting Pippin as knowing Adalgrim since it never really says. There is one very small instance where one charcter passes by another, and it is a very hard thing to catch, which is precisely why I used this puzzle! ;)

NightKnight
04-16-2004, 03:21 AM
Hirgon -> Merry -> Esmeralda Took -> Adalgrim Took

Lindolirian
04-16-2004, 07:03 AM
Well I think for that to work, you would have to put in Hildigrim Took between Esmerelda and Adalgrim. In that case there's a quicker way, but there are still three hobbits invloved...The tricksy part comes from Hirgon.

NightKnight
04-16-2004, 08:04 AM
Well, Esmeralda was Adalgrim's daughter, so I don't think we need her grandfather...

There is one very small instance where one charcter passes by another,

I suppose Pippin saw Hirgon somewhere, then.

Hirgon -> Pippin -> Paladin -> Adalgrim

Lindolirian
04-16-2004, 09:05 PM
But Shadowfax paused in his stride, slowing to a walk, and then he lifted up his head and neighed. And out of the darkness the answering neigh of other horses came; and presently the thudding of hooves was heard and three riders swept up and passed like flying ghosts in the moon and vanished into the West. You are absolutely correct! Here Pippin and Gandalf were passed by the errand riders of Gondor, including Hirgon. You're up, NightKnight!

NightKnight
04-17-2004, 04:01 AM
You tried to make it tricksy, did you?

Ingold -> Deagol

In 4 steps, no Gandalf etc.

Lindolirian
04-17-2004, 12:57 PM
Oh yes, so verry tricksy, precious! :rolleyes:
Ingold-> Pippin-> Frodo-> Smeagol-> Deagol

NightKnight
04-18-2004, 04:04 AM
Of course. :)

Lindolirian
04-19-2004, 02:47 PM
Right-o! How bout this...

Master of Esgaroth-> Androg

NightKnight
04-19-2004, 02:51 PM
Master of Esgaroth -> Bilbo -> Galadriel -> Melian -> Turin -> Androg

Lindolirian
04-19-2004, 02:53 PM
Sure thing

NightKnight
04-19-2004, 02:55 PM
Alright, try Aerin -> Bergil.

Lindolirian
04-19-2004, 03:01 PM
Aerin-> Turin-> Melian-> Galadriel-> Pippin-> Bergil
Y'know maybe we should outlaw that Galadriel to Melian connection... it's becoming quite hackneyed.

NightKnight
04-19-2004, 03:10 PM
Quite correct...
Interesting idea. But on the other hand, we could just use Thingol -> Galadriel instead.

Lindolirian
04-19-2004, 03:17 PM
Perhaps Galadriel should be a slightly verboten connection like Gandalf and Sauron since she has so many connections. At least she should only be used in the easy ones... ;)

Léofa-> Túrin II

NightKnight
04-19-2004, 03:20 PM
Léofa-> Walda -> Folca -> Folcwine -> (Folcred/Fastred ->) Túrin II

Lindolirian
04-19-2004, 03:37 PM
Exactly.

NightKnight
04-19-2004, 03:45 PM
Boar of Everholt -> Ugluk

This is seven degrees.

Lindolirian
04-19-2004, 03:53 PM
Boar of Everholt-> Folca-> Folcwine->Fengel-> Thengel-> Theoden-> Merry-> Ugluk

NightKnight
04-19-2004, 03:55 PM
I had Eomer, but sure. :)

Lindolirian
04-19-2004, 03:58 PM
Mat Heathertoes-> Glorfindel
None of the Fellowship.

NightKnight
04-19-2004, 04:06 PM
Mat Heathertoes -> Bill Ferny -> Bill the Pony -> Glorfindel

Lindolirian
04-19-2004, 08:07 PM
Very nice, indeed.

Lindolirian
04-27-2004, 08:52 PM
You must have forgotten about this thread... ;)

NightKnight
04-27-2004, 11:56 PM
I had indeed, thanks for getting it up. :)

Gothmog -> Isildur

Fingolfin II
04-28-2004, 02:45 AM
If you mean Gothmog the Balrog, then:

Gothmog -> Fingon -> Cirdan -> Isildur

NightKnight
04-28-2004, 03:26 AM
Did Fingon meet Cirdan?

Thorongil
04-28-2004, 03:36 AM
If he didn't:

Gothmog -> Fingon -> Gil-galad -> Isildur.

NightKnight
04-28-2004, 08:15 AM
That's more like what I had.

Firefoot
05-11-2004, 04:04 PM
Thorongil?

Thorongil
05-12-2004, 12:50 AM
Oh, right.
Finrod -> Bergil

Fingolfin II
05-12-2004, 12:58 AM
Finrod -> Galadriel -> Pippin -> Bergil

Thorongil
05-12-2004, 01:44 AM
Sure.

Fingolfin II
05-12-2004, 02:37 AM
Cheers. How about:

Oröme -> Elwing

Thorongil
05-12-2004, 03:40 AM
Orome -> Thingol -> Luthien -> Dior -> Elwing

Fingolfin II
05-12-2004, 05:20 AM
Yep.

Thorongil
05-12-2004, 05:40 AM
Aule -> Beren Erchamion

Lindolirian
05-12-2004, 07:53 AM
Aulë-> Mandos-> Beren Erchamion
and just in case Valar don't work...
Aulë-> Mahtan-> Fëanor-> Silmaril-> Beren Erchamion

Thorongil
05-12-2004, 09:45 AM
Works fine.

Lindolirian
05-27-2004, 03:47 PM
Mablung of the Heavy Hand-> Halbarad
No Galadriel or Ainur.

Fingolfin II
05-27-2004, 10:15 PM
Mablung -> Silmaril -> Maglor -> Elrond -> Aragorn -> Halbarad

Can we use a Silmaril?

NightKnight
05-28-2004, 04:04 AM
Mablung -> Thingol -> Finwë -> Fingon -> Gil-Galad -> Elrond -> Aragorn -> Halbarad

Just in case the Silmaril doesn't work.

The Saucepan Man
05-28-2004, 10:44 AM
Just becasue we can't use Galadriel, it doesn't follow that we can't use her husband:

Mablung -> Thingol -> Celeborn -> Aragorn -> Halbarad

In one version, I seem to remember that Celeborn is referred to as a kinsman of Thingol.

Fingolfin II
05-28-2004, 09:34 PM
And in the unlikely event that Thingol didn't meet Celeborn.....

Mablung -> Thingol -> Elmo -> Celeborn -> Arwen -> Halbarad

Lindolirian
05-31-2004, 12:08 PM
Ah, and the Saucester finds the one! All of the others were very good, but his was the shortest, thus the best. Fire away!

The Saucepan Man
05-31-2004, 07:12 PM
Thank you, Lindol. :)

Treebeard -> Smaug

No Hobbits and no Gandalf.

Son of Númenor
05-31-2004, 07:21 PM
Treebeard-->Gimli-->Balin-->Smaug

Does that work?

The Saucepan Man
05-31-2004, 07:29 PM
I'm going to be harsh here and say that the connection between Balin and Smaug is not close enough. :p

Firefoot
05-31-2004, 07:32 PM
How about Treebeard -> Gimli -> Thorin -> Smaug?

Morsul the Dark
05-31-2004, 07:35 PM
treebeard-gimli-gloin-bard-smaug?

The Saucepan Man
05-31-2004, 08:05 PM
Perfect Morsul. :) That's the one that I had (although you could also have substituted Legolas and Thranduil for Gimli and Gloin).

Take it away ...

Morsul the Dark
05-31-2004, 08:22 PM
lets try this one.......
i think this one should work
ulmo----tom bombadil

Son of Númenor
05-31-2004, 08:30 PM
Ulmo-->Tuor-->Earendil-->Elrond-->Frodo-->Bombadil ?

It may be a stretch, but it's all I've got!

Morsul the Dark
05-31-2004, 08:34 PM
since i dont know much about the first 2 ages i think that sounds right

my answer....

ulmo-melkos-balrog-gandalf-frodo-bombadil

so go ahead ill try to get a better handle on this for next time around

Son of Númenor
05-31-2004, 08:39 PM
Well, your answer is correct except we aren't allowed to use Gandalf. Since I'm not sure if my own is correct, I will await a more knowledgeable mind to confirm or refute it (Saucepan Man, are you out there?).

Morsul the Dark
05-31-2004, 08:42 PM
oh i missed that last bit on the first page sorry like i said im still learning about this so forgive me

PS i suppose you could use orc instead of gandalf?

NightKnight
06-01-2004, 08:43 AM
Actually, as I see it, yours works fine, Son of Númenor. So I think you should continue.

Son of Númenor
06-09-2004, 11:54 AM
Ecthelion of Gondolin --> Drogo Baggins

NightKnight
06-09-2004, 12:10 PM

NightKnight
06-17-2004, 05:40 AM
Do we know Freca was in Helm's Deep? It's not what I had in mind.

Freca-> Meduseld-> Aragorn-> Glorfindel-> Turgon-> Fingon

Yes, I took it from OCO.

NightKnight
06-17-2004, 05:53 AM
Huan -> Celegorm -> Maglor -> Elrond -> Bilbo -> Thrush

Nilpaurion Felagund
06-17-2004, 05:55 AM
Although Maglor and Huan may have met. :)

Oh, well. Yours again.

NightKnight
06-17-2004, 06:13 AM
I know, I put in Celegorm just to be safe.

Gaffer Gamgee -> Garulf

Thorongil
06-17-2004, 08:20 AM
Gaffer Gamgee -> Samwise Gamgee -> Aragorn -> Eomer -> Garulf

Lindolirian
07-06-2004, 12:43 PM
Mardil Voronwe-> Lindir

Fingolfin II
07-06-2004, 07:18 PM
Mardil Voronwe -> Earnur -> King of the Nazgul -> Glorfindel -> Lindir

Lindolirian
07-07-2004, 10:39 AM
Precisely. :)

Lindolirian
07-14-2004, 11:32 AM
*Kersplat*
or in the vulgar tongue
*bump*

Fingolfin II
07-15-2004, 11:45 PM
Bor -> Pippin

Two Elves only; no Galadriel or Ainur.

Nilpaurion Felagund
07-16-2004, 12:12 AM
Bór -> Maglor -> Elrond -> Pippin

Fingolfin II
07-16-2004, 12:28 AM

Fingolfin II
07-17-2004, 12:53 AM
Cheers.

Ithilbor -> Elrond

No Ainur or Galadriel are allowed. Only one elf (besides Ithilbor and Elrond) and one half-elf are allowed.

Bombadil
07-17-2004, 01:54 AM
Ithilbor--> Saeros--> Turin--> Tuor--> Earendil--> Elrond?

Fingolfin II
07-19-2004, 12:45 AM
Exactly what I had in mind.

Thorongil
08-01-2004, 01:12 PM
Ho! Tom Bombadil, Tom Bombadillo!
By water, wood and hill, by the reed and willow,
By fire, sun and moon, harken now and hear us!
Come, Tom Bombadil, for our need is near us!

He's supposed to show up now, right?

Bombadil
08-01-2004, 08:03 PM
Old Tom Bombadil is a merry fellow,
Bright blue his jacket is, and his boots are yellow.
None has ever caught him yet, for Tom, he is the master:
His songs are stronger songs, and his feet are faster.

Hey dol! Merry dol! I forgot about this thread,
You need not scold Tom, nor strike him in the head!
So thorongil I thank you! For singing Tom's old song!
Hope my 6 degrees will please all who read along!

Ulmo -> Tom Bombadil

The Perky Ent
08-01-2004, 09:40 PM

NightKnight

I suppose Pippin "met" WK at Weathertop.

The Perky Ent
08-07-2004, 09:20 AM
yup. The Witch King knew Pippin directly, as they met at Weathertop.

Morsul the Dark
08-11-2004, 10:53 PM
OR

Ted-Sam-Elrond-Glorfindel-Balrog-Morgoth

(You cant use Sauron according to the first post in this thread)

NightKnight
08-12-2004, 02:40 AM
Or even shorter:

Ted -> Sam -> Glorfindel -> Thorondor -> Morgoth

Encaitare
08-12-2004, 02:07 PM
They're all right but it's not what I had in mind. Think huge creepy-crawlies!

The Perky Ent
08-26-2004, 06:06 PM
ZzZzZzZzZzZz......uh...huh? Oh sorry! I was dosing off! Anyways, here's the next one:

Isildur ---> Arathorn

No elf kings, queens, lord etc, Sauron, or Gandalf.

Firefoot
08-26-2004, 08:25 PM
Isildur -> Dead Men of Dunharrow -> Aragorn -> Arathorn (I'm assuming you mean Arathorn II...?)

The Perky Ent
08-26-2004, 09:47 PM
Exactly what I had in mind! And yes, I did mean Arathorn II!

Firefoot
08-27-2004, 05:14 AM
Lobelia -> The Warden at the Houses of Healing

No Hobbits.

NightKnight
08-27-2004, 05:28 AM
Lobelia -> Ruffians -> Saruman -> Treebeard -> Aragorn -> Faramir -> Warden

Firefoot
08-27-2004, 06:02 AM
There's a shorter way.

The Perky Ent
08-27-2004, 04:32 PM
This probably doesn't work, but...

Lobelia -> Ruffians -> Saruman -> Theoden -> Eowyn -> Warden?

Firefoot
08-28-2004, 06:02 AM
Yes!

The Perky Ent
08-29-2004, 05:55 PM
Yay! Here's the next one:

Bilbo ---> Ungoliant

Encaitare
08-29-2004, 09:06 PM
Bilbo --> Frodo --> Shelob --> Ungoliant

(Assuming hobbits are allowed for this one)

The Perky Ent
08-30-2004, 05:03 PM
I'll take that!

Encaitare
08-31-2004, 03:46 PM

Next: Elros --> Finarfin

Fingolfin II
08-31-2004, 07:04 PM
Elros -> Maglor -> Finarfin

Joy
09-01-2004, 02:09 AM
Lobelia -> The Warden at the Houses of Healing - without Hobbits

I have even a better answer :D Lobelia -> Grima -> Théoden -> Aragorn -> Warden

Encaitare
09-01-2004, 01:11 PM
Actually, that's shorter than what I thought of, Fingolfin II, so well done! Your turn!

(And that is a good one, Joy! Perhaps we could even take Theoden out, though, since Grima and Aragorn had met at the Golden Hall.)

Fingolfin II
09-02-2004, 02:45 AM
Thanks.

How about-

Gwaihir -> Thorondor

No Gandalf or Galadriel ;).

Firefoot
09-02-2004, 04:38 AM
Gwaihir -> Frodo -> Glorfindel -> Thorondor

Fingolfin II

Firefoot
09-07-2004, 09:32 PM
Erendis --> Ted Sandyman

Fingolfin II
09-08-2004, 01:31 AM
Erendis -> Aldarion -> Cirdan -> Frodo -> Ted Sandyman

EDIT: Found a shorter way.

Firefoot
09-08-2004, 04:55 AM
Good.

Fingolfin II
09-09-2004, 01:14 AM
Cheers.

Caranthir -> Aerin

No Elves with any Teleri blood in them, or any Ainur.

NightKnight

Fingon -> Theodwyn

Encaitare
09-18-2004, 12:56 PM
There's probably a shorter way, but this is all I can come up with:

Fingon -> Gil-Galad -> Elrond -> Aragorn -> Eowyn -> Theodwyn

NightKnight
09-18-2004, 12:58 PM
Yeah, I have a shorter way with only 3 people (plus the two you're connecting). Try to find it. ;)

Fingolfin II
09-18-2004, 06:39 PM
Fingon -> Galadriel -> Eomer -> Theodwyn?

NightKnight
09-19-2004, 04:35 AM
That was even shorter than I had, so you can go. :)

Fingolfin II
09-19-2004, 05:01 AM
Cheers,

Finduilas (the Elf) -> Finduilas (Imrahil's sister)

NightKnight
09-19-2004, 05:29 AM
Finduilas -> Orodreth -> Galadriel -> Faramir -> Finduilas

Fingolfin II
09-19-2004, 05:21 PM
Right as usual :).

NightKnight
09-20-2004, 09:46 AM
Thanks. I even think I asked for the same connection once. :p

Anyway...

Elladan -> Olwë

Fingolfin II
09-20-2004, 06:29 PM
Really? I've got to be more careful next time, though it is pretty hard to catch ol' NightKnight out! Anyway-

Elladan -> Galadriel -> Feanor -> Olwe

NightKnight
09-21-2004, 12:39 PM
Sure. :)

Fingolfin II
09-21-2004, 06:22 PM
Cheers,

Nanedhel
09-22-2004, 04:29 PM

09-22-2004, 06:18 PM

09-22-2004, 07:22 PM
That looks good to me.

Fingolfin II
09-22-2004, 11:50 PM
Cheers,

Angrim -> Mahtan

No Ainur or male Elves.

NightKnight
09-23-2004, 12:34 AM
Angrim -> Gorlim -> Beren -> Luthien -> Galadriel -> Nerdanel

Fingolfin II
09-23-2004, 01:09 AM

09-27-2004, 08:05 PM
Adrahil -> Denethor -> Aragorn -> Elrond -> Maglor

NightKnight
09-29-2004, 11:52 PM
Do we know that Adrahil and Denethor met? There's another way...

Fingolfin II
09-29-2004, 11:57 PM
Just an assumption, since Denethor married Adrahil's daughter, but maybe this works better for you-

Adrahil -> Imrahil -> (Aragorn) -> Elrond -> Maglor?

NightKnight
09-30-2004, 12:36 AM
Sure it does. :)

Fingolfin II
09-30-2004, 01:51 AM
Cheers,

Try-

Turgon -> Targon

No Galadriel, Elrond or Celeborn.

Nilpaurion Felagund
09-30-2004, 02:19 AM
Turgon (-> Tuor) -> Glorfindel -> Pippin -> Targon.

Fingolfin II
09-30-2004, 02:37 AM
Whoa, better way then I had!

Nilpaurion Felagund
09-30-2004, 02:40 AM
Fatty Bolger -> Elrond

No hobbitses. http://www.geocities.com/louis_martian/smilies/evil.gif

Fingolfin II
09-30-2004, 06:31 AM
Fatty -> Nazgul -> Glorfindel -> Elrond?

Nilpaurion Felagund
10-01-2004, 02:48 AM
I thought of linking him to the ruffians, but this is way better! :)

Take it!

Fingolfin II
10-01-2004, 04:23 AM
Haha, cool.

Umm......

Turgon -> Targon

Bit different this time- No Elrond, Galadriel, Celeborn, Glorfindel or Pippin. Tricksy! ;)

Firefoot
10-01-2004, 04:47 PM
There is probably a much shorter way, but...

Turgon -> Tuor -> Cirdan -> Frodo -> Faramir -> Beregond -> Targon

Fingolfin II
10-01-2004, 11:10 PM
Try linking to a place (oh, by the way- no Maiar either :)).

Lindolirian
10-17-2004, 04:05 PM
Turgon-> Glamdring-> (Rivendell?)*-> Merry-> Bergil-> Beregond-> Targon

*I originally had Sting here, but you said that a place would help, so...

Fingolfin II
10-19-2004, 12:39 AM
Hmm....try another place. Not in Middle-Earth.

Firefoot
10-19-2004, 05:01 AM
Turgon -> Middle-earth -> Targon. :D :rolleyes:

Turgon -> Tol Eressëa -> Frodo -> Minas Tirith (Can I use two places?) -> Targon?
Turgon -> Tol Eressëa -> Frodo -> Faramir -> Beregond -> Targon?

Fingolfin II
10-20-2004, 01:41 AM
They're all right- the first is a bit cheeky, but the third is what I was thinking of.

You're up!

Firefoot
10-21-2004, 06:13 AM
Tar-Aldarion -> Eöl.

Robomir
10-21-2004, 01:20 PM
This is my first attempt in the quiz room so bear with me:

Tar-Aldarion->Gil-Galad->Fingon->Turgon->Maeglin->Eol

Firefoot
10-21-2004, 01:24 PM
Welcome to the 'Downs and the Quiz Room!

That connection works for me - go ahead and set the next question. :)

Robomir
10-21-2004, 01:34 PM
Right here goes

Hurin->Frodo

Sorry if this has already been there but i haven't read all 25 pages of this thread to know.

NightKnight
10-21-2004, 03:05 PM
Hurin -> Turgon -> Maglor -> Elrond -> Frodo

Robomir
10-21-2004, 05:34 PM
uh-oh my lack of knowledge is being highlighted im not sure who maglor was (a son of Feanor?). Its different to the way I was going but fire away coz it'll be right.

NightKnight
10-22-2004, 07:52 AM
Yes, Maglor was the second oldest son of Fëanor, and when the brothers attacked the dwellings of Eärendil, Elwing and their people at the Mouth of Sirion, Elrond and Elros were captured, but Maglor took care of them. It's a quite usual connection in this game.

Gothmog -> Huan

One elf, and the rest humans. Oh, and Gothmog is the balrog.

Lindolirian
10-22-2004, 08:03 AM
With one elf and the rest men, it goes:
Gothmog-> Ecthelion (of Gondolin)-> Tuor-> Rian-> Belegund-> Beren-> Huan
But I think it could be much shorter...;)
Gothmog-> (Morgoth->) Carcharoth-> Huan

NightKnight
10-22-2004, 09:16 AM
The first one was the exact same one as I had. You're up.

I know it could be shorter, that's why I put in restrictions. :p

Lindolirian
10-25-2004, 10:35 AM
Holman Greenhand-> Aranwë
No Ainur, Elrond, Galadriel or Celeborn.

NightKnight
10-25-2004, 03:18 PM
Holman Greenhand -> Rose Greenhand -> Holman Cotton -> Tolman I Cotton -> Sam Gamgee -> Glorfindel -> Voronwë -> Aranwë

Lindolirian
10-25-2004, 04:40 PM
There's a much shorter way.
Fewer hobbits! ;)

Fingolfin II
10-26-2004, 01:27 AM
Holman -> The Gaffer -> Sam -> Glorfindel -> Voronwe -> Aranwe?

I vaguel recall The Gaffer saying he worked as an apprentice to some hobbit who sounded like Holman- hope I'm right :).

Lindolirian
10-26-2004, 06:33 AM
So close! Your's is still just a bit too long.

NightKnight
10-26-2004, 07:32 AM
Holman -> Sam -> Glorfindel -> Voronwe -> Aranwe

Just guessing Holman and Sam met.

Why have you changed your avatar? Your old one was a classic... :(
