View Full Version : How do you imagine other BDers
the phantom

Anyway, I think I'm getting a little to far off topic
Indeed! Are you trying to turn this highly respectable site into a football forum?
Consider yourself warned, young man!
:p
And now on topic....
Now that I know you're a die-hard K-State man I'm going to start picturing you dressed in purple (with one of those goofy, ten-foot-tall purple and white hats you guys always wear).

Someone you sound like- hoo boy.... no clue on this one... I'd have to say my dad
That reminds me, I do in fact sound like my mom on the phone, at least according to other people. I still don't believe it. For the most part I sound like a cross between my mum and my youngest sis, who also happens to be older than me. (If that makes any sense at all)

I have gained a few new impressions of some Barrowdowners since I last posted on here. All three have been guessed at in past pages; but I think that my images offer a credible challenge to them.
Boromir88: A tall, happy chap with slightly buck teeth. He has long brown hair which is parted in the middle and always looks fairly neat. He wears a red cape with golden stars sewn into it. He is also a conjurer, thus he carries a magic wand. He skips around in a 16th century English jester kind of way. He has the uncanny ability to disappear from dangerous situations.
Lalwende: She barely has a physical presence; I imagine her as a wisp of purple smoke. She has a calming influence over all people, not unlike that of horse tranquilisers, thus she is always brilliant to be around.
Mithalwen: is Amelie.
And for those of you still following debates from about 10 pages ago, I have decided that The Only Real Estel does not actually exist. It's the only logical explanation for the difficulties. ;)
THE Ka
01-15-2005, 12:28 PM
THE Ka I can't help imagining as Eowyn, ever since Oddwen's little crazy scene starring Eowyn as Ka and Arwen as me. Except, Ka doesn't have such tidy hair.(Quote of Lenny the wonderful)
What's with the blonde hair? I guess I am that confusing...
You're right on about the hair... Think female Robert Smith. I love backcombing :D .
Ok, here's some...
Fordim: A mischevious character of about medium height with a love of bringing up the past. Dark coloured hair possibly? Eyes are a color that can be reconized, but are possibly rare? Intellectual type.
Elennar: I've always seen you as having some colour of brown hair but, definately not mousey brown. Tall for age possibly?
I really am horrible at this. Oh well! Everthings fine with me except the whole 'blonde' thing...

I agree for the most part, except I think her color is most likely pale blue, because I find that color more calming.
Eomer of the Rohirrim: I apologize if you have already fallen victim to my imagination and description. If not, here it goes: I see you as Eomer, except with some "slight" changes. You still have a beard and a gruff voice, but short blonde hair. Instead of a serious glare in your eyes you have a mischievious glint. Since this is a modern century, you have a mean looking motorcycle as your "noble steed" instead of a horse.

Horse tranquilisers?! I don't know what to say... :p I am wearing purple today (and pyjamas 'cause I've eaten too much) and I have also smoked far too much so being like a wisp of purple smoke might not be far wrong. Or maybe a fog of purple smoke. I am not quite so calm though being repeatedly made to go into fits of hysterics here... ;)

Yes, Ka, my hair is brown and not mousy. A shade or two darker and a bit redder than mousy.

I used to imagine Phantom as a ringwraith, flowing black robes and all.
Now Phantom is a ringwraith wearing a white phantom-of-the-opera half-mask that shows from inside the hood.
But when Phantom jokes, Phantom morphs into a Jawa.

Morai, you just described someone whom I would no doubt hate. Sorry m'dear, but you are wrong. :p
Yourself I imagine as extremely small. Maybe it's because of your short name. Possibly one of the extra mutants from X-Men. For the sake of continuing the description, you have the ability to turn into a whirlwind. :D

Eomer has a very loud laugh, which descends into guffaws when he finds something mightily funny, something like...League of Gentlemen perhaps. He always has a comic/graphic novel stuffed in his bag, and he likes Czech lager. If he was a colour he would be Yellow.
Hookbill the Goomba

I hope he's not offended by this, (Oh, owner of theses truly hospitable Forums) but for some unknown reason, I've always envisioned The Barrow Wight to look like a Stereotypical Australian. I have no idea why.
Mithalwen
01-16-2005, 02:21 PM
Mithalwen: is Amelie.
Was that spontaneous or did you read my post saying it was my favourite film?
If so it is a spiritual rather than physical description - being part celt, part valkyrie in appearance, naturally I have always wished that I were a petite brunette.....
OK now I shall delve into the deep recesses of my imagination and see what comes out - probably in direct contradiction of facts that have slipped out during the previous pages.
I think Fordim ought to be content with my image of a younger Indiana Jones in his tweeds and specs..... my own experience of lecturers were that they were spectacularly badly dressed and or unkempt (apart from ones in France who were liable to wear cravats and look like bit part players in a Noel Coward play) . The english ones had a distressing tendancy to polyester or were aiming for a shabby chic look but just looked like tramps.....
So Fordim is basically Indy but ... hmmm 5"11 and prematurely greying at the temples. Since he denies tweed - the jacket must be corduroy or a heavy canvas... cleanshaven, short hair but not quite a buzz cut. Drives an estate car.
Lalwende is short, curvy and completely unable to keep a low profile. I think you definitely notice when she is around. Pocket battleship. Has to wear a suit for work but off duty - velvet, upmarket hippy stuff. Has a slightly quirky car - maybe a KA or a Smart. Ideally she would have a Morris Minor Convertible but needs something newer and more reliable.
Boromir - I see as a bit like a grown up Harry Potter - lanky with specs and hair that doesn't want to stay tidy. Another person who has to be "suited and booted" for work and so the off duty gear is casual but not scruffy - jeans, timberlands, fleece ..... I suspect he is good at keeping a straight face even when something is making him laugh like mad inside. On no account play poker with him. His car.... either a company car or a sportscar
Eomer - is a younger, taller version of Neil Oliver (one of the "Two Men in a Trench").

Good, it's refreshing to undoubtably wrong on occasion. (Especially after some of one's descriptions were horridly on the mark.)

I have a confession to make: I'm obsessed with Superhero cartoons and such. Not X-men in particular, but knowing that I can be pictured as one makes my day. As for accuracy, some people do consider me quite small, for various unmentionable reasons. ;) Watch out though, I just might turn into a whirlwind on of these days and scatter some papers on someone's desk.
If I was Blue then I would be gas flame blue, it being light and all that.
Funny, that's the exact color I was thinking of, but now it IS a blue flame...with a hobbity face on it.

I don't think BW looks that...well... you know what I mean...
I keep thinking that BW lives in Massachusetts... It's wierd ,but okay for me. I usually identify people here by the first location that pops up... I have a geography obsession. Only a little one, though.
Okay, here's a chance for me to be more specific:
Okay, I already gave my shot to location but, I always feel that BW is in their early or late 30's? Okay, um... and has a strong connection with the colours green and blue? Eyes are a light colour...
Oh forget it! I'm horrible at this! I'll just stick with the whole Massachusetts thing...

Pocket Battleship? Surely I am more like Travel Scrabble? ;) Now, it's a point of homour for me that I do not like these "quirky cars" or "girls' cars" as I term them. I will only drive cars which are long and low and most definitely car-shaped, though them being safe and all that takes priority over what they look like. I did once drive a Morris minor, but I was only 8 at the time. And I soon gave up when I realised Brownies didn't do a badge in under-age driving and I found it quite difficult to buy any petrol on 25p a week pocket money ;)
I don't wear suits for work, in fact I have yesterday's clothes on complete with a bit of curry, cunningly hidden beneath a Doctor Who scarf, soon to be joined by some crumbs.
Barrow-Wight I always think of as in his 40s, with blonde hair, swept back, sometimes wears glasses, always wears jeans, sometimes these are exceedingly tatty but he thinks that's even cooler so wears them til they fall apart.
And funnily enough, when I think of THE Ka, I always think of a Ford Ka! Bizarre image, yes...and you are now welcome to think of me as a vehicle too.

Oh Lal it clearly wasn't my car you borrowed ..... actually I drive 2 cars until they finally decide if they will let the aged parent have his licence back. My own beloved Bertie is a black Fiat Uno G reg and is reasonably tidy at the moment ... the slightly younger Punto is dark red and is a bit of a mobile Skip at the moment. Unless I have loads of stuff I normally shove shopping in the passenger footwell but that is because it means you don't shred bags on the hedge. :) . Oh dear. Allow me to incorporate my prior imaginings of THE Ka:
THE Ka was remarkably tall and slender, with hair blacker than coal, shiny and straight, but rather short. THE Ka's eyes were also black, causing the instant second glance of any passers-by. THE Ka's skin was a well tanned gold, and THE Ka wore a rather large amount of gold jewelry.

Eh! I sound like some Melkor-look-alike! :( ( I think i'm going to cry...That's how bad I feel...)
I'm only going to comment on a few. One, I haven't seen a sunny or tanning day in a long, long time... Two, I hate gold and the colour. Three, I could never bring myself to have someone known as a 'slave'... It would find conflict with my morals too easily. In other words, I do all of the toils me, myself, and I and I love equality. I don't think I could survive knowing that I 'own' someone.
Typist? I'm not sure about... Admirers, I really don't know any. I'm not a social creature. My art I guess is though, but, it never leaves the confines of my bookcase or home. Though maybe through a friend, because I give most of it away.
Who told you that i'm female? I'm curious...

Ehk! Ford...Bad...
Hang on, I have a Ford! Well, yes, they aren't 'cool' perhaps but I can stuff loads of rubbish in it and it's cheap(er) to get repairs done. I can be practical sometimes...
THE Ka - she has mad curly hair, which is dark. But she tries to make it straight. She doesn't care for fashion that much, but she has her own look. She wears lots of bracelets and owns a pair of Doc Martens.
I would like to put a different slant on this one please, and tell you how I imagine myself. I am tall, dark and handsome (yeh, a bit like Aragorn). I have shiny long black hair (yeh, a bit like Aragorn). I am athletic and powerful (yeh, a bit like Aragorn). I ooze sexiness(yeh, a bit like Aragorn), well I do now they have taken all my mirrors away in my asylum.
Contrary to his imaginings, narfforc walks with a permanent lean due to the excesses of the Irish Sea wind whipping in across the Fylde, a lean which is accentuated when he has drunk too many pints of Pendle Witches' Brew. ;)

Here's another Ford owner! It was the biggest car I could afford, and I need a big car (mainly to put all my junk in...) I have actually crash tested one as well! I am happy to say that it performed impeccably! After all, if it had not, no one would know of Lyta Underhill except perhaps those hanging out in the hereafter...wait, that's everyone here, isn't it? ;)
Actually sounds like a real artistic conception of ancient Egypt to me! Perhaps it is the name! Strangely enough, I always imagine The Ka as a younger version of me, the same drive to be weird and creative and all! My memory is hazy after that...probably Ka is pulling it off better than I did!
And I somehow imagine Lalwendë as looking like a member of the Took clan, although with the quick wit and deep knowledge of Bilbo (that avatar IS apt!). I see midlength wavy blondish or reddish hair and a pixieish smile to go with her equally playful wit, and not quite 5'9", perhaps more like 5'2"!
One final note...it is good to see so many fans of Jethro Tull gathered here! I have had the pleasure of seeing them in concert twice, and the last time (early 90's), they had a whole living room set up on stage, to which they invited the prettiest girls to sit while Ian Anderson serenaded them...it was lovely! And they, of course, played lots of old favorites! (Did I mention I like to do housework to "Thick as a Brick?"
And before anyone tries to imagine what I look like, I am Carrie Fisher's lost twin (or was!).
Cheers!

So as to make this post slightly relevant, I imagine Lyta as the wearer of frilly pink dresses. Elennar is apparently not: she was my first guess. And we all know that the Downs must have a wearer of frilly pink dresses.
Hookbill the Goomba sits in a darkened room treasuring his bonus points. He has been there for weeks and weeks so his hair is quite long and unkempt, and his eyes are bloodshot.

Tall - yes
Grey eyes - hmmm yes - ish but very light coloured greeny-grey - sounds a bit like gollum! Generally a bit short of pigment so I am pale but not anaemic looking - normally have a bit of colour....
blonde - sometimes but not that blonde..... well only when ~I was a toddler - then I got darker and rustier ending up almost Titian - now ... well I started going grey at about 17 and so now it is what ever takes my fancy on the red-gold continuum.... usually redder in the winter ..blonder in the summer.....
If I didn't work in places that tend to have a strict dress codes I would dye it pink. I did it temporarily a year ago for a "pretty in pink" charity day and I loved it (and I won a bottle of champagne). But I am not the wearer of pink frilly dresses. I do wear pink, but usually with black. I am not a frilly person. And I would look like a big pink meringue. Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeek

Sophia: Even though I've seen a number of pictures of Lush, I still suspect her of being our wearer of frilly pink dresses. I think Lush is a more reasonable suspect for the role of pink frilly dress wearer! At least I'm pretty sure she has worn a dress more recently than I have! (and I was just kidding about the Princess Leia dress--I don't have one. :( )It would have to have cargo pockets if I were to wear it though! I absolutely HATE carrying a purse!
Eomer: Everyone imagines me as blonde. I am thinking about dying it for a laugh...
Oddly enough, I still often see Karl Urban as dark haired, having gotten used to him as Julius Caesar in Xena: Warrior Princess long before LOTR! (Incidentally, I still call Marton Csokas "Borias" for the same reason. Same accent, too!)

(I just wanted to show off...)
Fordim: I am that little dog. How do you type on a keyboard without opposable thumbs? Or is your keyboard simply a couple of paw-shaped keys and a mind-reading circuit?

Sorry, Lalwendë, but, yes, I really dissected a cat. But it was 1984; the statute of limitations has long run out! *convinces self dubiously* And it was long dead before it got to me! Plus, I figure some of the folks who end up wielding the scalpel in Biology class will end up as veterinarians to treat the cats, dogs, horses and rats of the world! My friend has wanted to have rats, for a really long time. The only problem is, I really don't know what to give along with a rat for their b-day... You know, houses, toys, food, pet care books, toys. My cousin had rats for awhile and I agree, they are too cute. Aha! A new insight to my *favorite* Lalwendë:
You like me, have a special love for cats. In your house there reigns two felines. One, I'm not sure the name, is quite fluffy and a creme color, and loves Fancy Feast. You'll usually catch her resting majestically on her pillow...I'm mean her throne. Your other cat is quite the opposite. He's the short-hared rascal that's always moving. If one is fast enough to catch a glimpse of him, they'll see grey tabby fur and gold eyes.
Okay, now that's scary, I've just described a person's pet in detail. GASP!

Your other cat is quite the opposite. He's the short-hared rascal that's always moving. If one is fast enough to catch a glimpse of him, they'll see grey tabby fur and gold eyes.
That's scarily accurate! And the other one is fluffy! You must have seen a picture of me and spotted all the cat hair and thence deduced the nature of the wee felines! If I was more Elven then I might be able to pass off the cat hair as something magical but alas it gets everywhere and I just look like an old mad scruffy Hobbit :(
Don't send your cats after them, please now, Lalwendë

The only dresses I wear regularly are very simple and usually black. I do have a pink dress but it is raspberry pink and not a frill to be seen - just the simplest shift - not even a button or zip. Due the climate hereI have worn it about once....

Well...actually I haven't seen a picture of you. Basically, I figured that someone of your essence would have to have cats like that.

Same here with my cat, except she is an outdoor type, but is too lazy to hunt birds or mice. (Though she has caught one in recent months.) Usually she'll settle for the cat food, cookies (preferably snickerdoodle), bugs, or on a ocasion a garter snake. (She refuses to eat em, and just leaves them as a gift.) I wonder how she would have faired against the likes of Shelob?

I really don't have much room to speak though, my cats also consume this delicacy... But, I do have to go in favor of the spiders. They are a great help when keeping the flies at bay.

01-27-2005, 09:41 PM
A few more images came to mind today while I was gazing out the window...
Primrose Bolger is always in my mind as a hobbit lass... but not quite so short. She has shoulder-length, curly, gingery brown hair, and laughing brown eyes. She's also a bit of a motherly type; that is to say, she's absolutely wonderful with children, and they adore her. But despite her hobbitishness, she has some elven blood in her, too. Perhaps that accounts for the fact that she isn't so short and stout as a hobbit. When she's not cooking and in general busying her hands with helping others, she's wandering in the cool grass under the trees.
Mithalwen is tall, slender, and dark-haired. Her skin is white, but not pale. 'Princess-fair skin,' as some little friends of mine call it. Her black hair falls down to her waist in waves and ripples. She carries herself with a queenly air, graceful and light on her feet. Her eyes are a deep dark brown, and while not very warm and mild, certainly not cool and aloof... more of a nice in between... as if she were a woman with dignity as well as friendliness.
Nowadays Fordim alternates between being Hearpwine and a little puppy with Indiana Jones' hat on...
Encaitare is a regal, slightly old-fashioned young woman... old-fashioned in the sense that she doesn't care what people think about the fact that she wears a corset (admittedly this impression was received from your avatar), though she's slim enough without it... she wears it merely to wear it. She clads herself in lovely evening gowns, and is in general a maid of twilight. And somewhere in the deep depths of my mind is the urging to say that she also plays a tin whistle... haunting, moonlight-y tunes.
Lyta Underhill is much akin to the Frodo that appears in her avatars. Dark shoulder-length hair, in curls; blue eyes (though I wouldn't say quite so big as young Master Wood's); hobbit breeches, shirt, waistcoat, and overcoat; a Ring about her neck and trusty old Sting at her side!
The Ka always gives me the impression of a dark girl... dark hair, dark eyes, dark clothes, and more akin to midnight than noon.
Encaitare
01-27-2005, 10:27 PM
Encaitare I see as Arwen.
Hmmm... not quite. I'm pale and like to wear fancy dresses, though, so maybe a little. :p
Nurumaiel, that's pretty accurate! I'm not sure that I'm regal, but I wouldn't mind it. Heh heh, I do enjoy corsets, just for the look. Not the scarily tight kinds, but anything that can give me the right Renaissance-y sort of look. Or just a shirt with laces up the front.
Hmmm... Nuru, I think, is tallish with dark, wavy hair and greyish eyes. She may wear glasses for when she's reading. She is musically inclined, and quite possibly plays the piano.

Imladris
01-28-2005, 12:58 AM
Nurumaiel has shifted in my mind's eye as I have learned more about her. The current image of her, is a slight maiden, with pale brown hair and slender limbs. She strikes me as a lover of twilight, and one who eagerly seeks after fairy things. I would not be surprised if she is often found surrounded by books, with kittens frolicking before a fire.
Nuranar
01-28-2005, 08:25 AM
I usually think in terms of words, instead of pictures - but here's a few that my subconscious has made up its mind about. :)
I see Imladris as a quiet girl, quiet because she's shy, standing about 5'5". Her hair is dark, chocolatey brown, straight and glossy, and falls to her shoulders. Her eyes are hazel, with flecks of sparkly green. She doesn't say much with words, because she's shy, but her eyes do the talking for her - they flash and dance with the ever-varying tenor of her thoughts. She reminds me, for some reason, of this quote: "Scarlett O'Hara was not beautiful, but men seldom realized it when caught by her charm." Imladris is not Barbie-doll pretty, but she's far more interesting - there's a definite elusive attractiveness, something mysteriously enticing, about her.
Nurumaiel has soft brown hair that she sometimes curls and sometimes straightens, on her whimsy. Her brown eyes are quick and expressive, although sometimes she veils them with her long dark eyelashes. Her complexion is very fair - she doesn't tan at all - but not colorless, because of the slight rose tint of her cheeks. She is tall, about 5'8", and slim and willowy - "exquisitely proportioned," as a favorite author of us both has written about another very beautiful lady.

I DO HAVE BROWN EYES!!! (They turn kinda greenish in the mornings) as for the hair, I might brown hair, that is if I stopped dying it. Which, of course most likely won't happen any time soon. Morai, how long have you dyed your hair? It couldn't be for the same reason I dye mine! ;) Now I see you as looking like Carrie Fisher! Except with pink hair, for some reason...now THAT's an oddity!
It seems everyone here sees Nurumaiel in a similar way, and I am no exception. She is an elf! I even see her wearing an elvish silvery dress with draped sleeves and delicate wrought mithril head decoration (although I don't see a green stone on it...). Definitely flowing hair, dark with flecks of red-gold, perhaps. (I won't believe Elves can't have red in their hair...*snerk*)
Ah, they have no knowledge of rats or mice or birds, being indoor animals, but they have a keen taste for the culinary delights of spider sushi.
Lalwendë, your cats catch spiders? *Hides her several jars, each holding a fat black specimen of black widow, except for the one cute little rose hair tarantula who grows a little every day, bless her!* I often find little jumping spiders around the kitchen sink and one used to live in my car until he vacated suddenly at the local bank. I like to keep them around to eat the flies and mosquitoes, which I have no love for at all! We also catch brown recluses and let them go far from the house (it's a sort of karma thing...we don't kill them, maybe they won't bite us! *knock wood*).
Nurumaiel, how did you know? ;) Keep the same character as an avatar long enough and people begin to see you as the embodiment of that avatar! I think I've had a Elijah as Frodo avatar for most of my time here! Wouldn't it be funny if I changed it to Dame Maggie Smith? Then how would I look in everyone's mind's eye? *chuckles* Actually your description is sometimes quite accurate, except for two particulars. 1- my hair won't hold curls unless it is tortured, and 2-think of my eyes exactly as Morai describes hers above, except mine turn bright green in direct sunlight . I think it is some supernatural thing, like in the Exorcist, or perhaps like Harry Potter... (Isn't it interesting how many facets there can be to a single described "eye color?" Many people have more than one color to their eyes and yet they are described in terms of a single color...but here we enter into complexity!) I think I'd better stop here, lest you all decide I am some total CGI creature...
But to top it all off, perhaps I'll share my image of Neurion, as a Rohirric sort (although somewhat slimmer than the average) who likes to wear a lot of armor (or perhaps hats?). Now I'm thinking of Slash from Guns-n-Roses with Axl Rose's hair! Oh well! Maybe not a top hat!
Cheers!

Generally I seem to give the impression that I'm tall and dark-haired... well, I won't say it's not true, though I'm not giving away too much. ;)
But the question is... how did Lyta know about the red-gold flecks? I thought only the sun and those who see me in it knew that.
As for Nuranar's description... perhaps written in a much more flattering way than I would write for myself... but many of the basic descriptions are correct. I'm not saying which. :p
And Imladris knew about my kitten... very well, he's a cat, but he's still my kitten, no matter what he may be to everyone else.
Encaitare, agreed... tight corsets aren't exactly healthy for the poor little stomach.
The Ka
Why does 'noon' come in??? I'm curious...
In other words, you're more of a night girl than a day girl. :)
And I forgot to mention in my last post... Boromir88 looks just like Boromir.
Now Nuranar... I always think of a tall, slim girl with long golden hair. You love the woods, but when you ramble you generally go through the long grass of the open fields (and not always on foot... you have a trusty bay steed somewhere abouts). Your eyes are brown, and often dreamy and fiery as you think out stories, or perhaps reflect on one you've just read. You have a faithful little dog who sticks by your side, and often you'll relate to him the excitement of a book just read, when you have no one else to accompany in your wanderings. You can often be found sitting by the fireplace in the winter, reading; in the summer days you read and write by the open window.

Oh yes, the felines do enjoy tormenting spiders, I think they must taste better, maybe a little more 'gamey' if they have first been terrified by the sight of huge swinging paws coming at them. There are a few non-8-legged arachnids about the house, as they seem to like knocking their legs off one by one...

In short, he is a pirate. Without actually stealing ships and rampaging through the high seas, but this is his appearance. He is tall, probably about 6'7. He has majestic flowing black hair, and a rugged build due to years of hard labour. He wears a huge dark blue cape and carries a large bottle of rum at most times. He has two gold teeth, carries blades to get him through his vast plethora of enemies, and has what can only be described as a truly dazzling smile. He also fixes the hair of Wargs into his own hair as a tribute to his heroes.

Some M-E-inspired impressions (Warning: do not take seriously):
Fordim Hedgethistle is an erudite (but rather mad) Baggins. He likes cooking, but not to the same extent as some other Hobbits. Likes gardening. Has trouble deciding whether Longbottom Leaf or Old Toby is better for his constitution.
The Ka is a rather strange pale Hobbit lass who likes to spend a lot of time indoors. Thinks it was very nasty of Mr. Bilbo to kill those poor spiders in Mirkwood. Tends to refer to the Valar as "The Gods".
Elrond's Daughter is a noble and courteous elf-maiden of the folk of Imladris. Singing is one of her special joys.
Saucepan Man is Samwise Gamgee or one of his relatives (he likes walloping people with pans).

Well, Maybe both of them...
THE Ka
01-29-2005, 12:20 PM
Close, but I am one of those spiders...
Here's a picture my friend the Wasp took the other day...

Ironically, the only person I don't see as their avatar is the Barrow Wight. I see him as a rather short, broad man with wild hair and beard. Almost a Tom Bombadil without the costume...I know I'm wrong, but the image lingers.

Time to have another proper 'go' at this, methinks...so:
Boromir88 - he has messy brown hair and is clean shaven. He wears smart things for work, but at weekends is to be found wearing t-shirt and jeans, often crumpled because he hates ironing. He carries little 'talismans' around with him, such as things he has found and stuffed in his pocket, and has stuff hanging from the rear view mirror in his car, which is a company car, so this is his way of personalising it.
Fordim - tries to keep to the expected dress code of an academic, wearing lots of brown, for example, brown cords, beige jackets, and stone shirts, but he does have a tendency to wear pairs of 'humorous socks' which he is given for Christmas - he figures they are just socks, and who cares what they look like? His work colleagues are often intrigued as to whether he will have "those Rudolph socks on again".
Saucepan Man - I am imagining his desk. He has his own office, which is small, old fashioned and dark, but his desk is modern and has an extension table onto which he piles lots of 'filing' which never gets done, though he knows where everything is. He has pictures everywhere, and empty coffee mugs, and he has to frantically cram these into the drawers when he sees a client. He had a plant but it died.
Eomer of the Rohirrim - he lives in a student house so it is a central concept to him that he must never ever do the washing up until strictly necessary, but luckily his clothes are clean because he takes them home every fortnight to be washed. He is quite slim despite existing on a diet of crisps, beer and pizza; he gets his vitamins in the holidays with those home cooked meals. He always wears nice shoes.

Morai, sorry, nope. I have blonde hair and really dark blue eyes. They look black sometimes. I do like wearing black. It's one of my favorite colors. And I LOVE my black boots. I can't say if my nose is pointed, though.
I imagine E_D having fairly long layered brown hair and blue eyes. Likes to wear green and brown?
The Ka: Short dark hair. (Not too short though.) Dark piercing eyes. And a long nose and thin lips.
Neurion: Blonde hair, green eyes. Wears polos. Glasses? A kind of square nose.

Thread needs a swift kick. ;)
Nilp is skinnier than one would think strictly necessary, kind of one of those long, tall, types. He has dark hair, rather out of control at the moment. Dark eyes and dark complected too, and rather accustomed to drawing odd looks for his habit of talking to people that aren't there.
Fea is also dark haired, of average height, and quite indoorsy looking (meaning neither tanned nor particularly sporty). I see her with blue eyes, easily amused, and chews on her lower lip while trying to decipher whatever puzzle she's after this time.
Eomer if I've learned one thing on this thread, it's that he's not blonde. Still can't visualize him dark haired, though, it's migrated to sort of a medium brown. He's also got dark eyes and not much rhythm, despite being quite interested in music. He wears (?) jeans and those casual button-down shirts with something that doesn't quite match underneath, and sometimes looks like he missed a day shaving.
HI is well groomed and suave looking. Not nearly as cuddly as the pugs that KA associates with him... more of a sophisticated look that conceals his humor, at least when you first meet him. He dresses in dark colors, tends to have a cigarette in his hand, and keeps his hair neat.
Lalwende, although obviously female, must look something like her avatar; therefore she's a relative of Bilbo's (a 110xgreat grandniece?) and has similar hobbity hair, a bit longer, and a Bilbo-like chuckle. She unfortunately has inherited his feet (my sympathies :p) and likes to dress in tweeds and shades of green.
Well then, that about does it for me tonight.

Shaving? Oh dear... people on the Barrowdowns have... facial hair? Never! The only ones on here with any facial hair is Mister Underhill, who has a closely-groomed dark brown beard. However, since his face is nearly always hidden behind a book or newspaper (or in some instances, a cup of coffee), very few people know what he really looks like. :)

Fairly decent descriptions by Lal and Soph. Well, apart from the nice shoes comment. The 'slim-despite-bad-diet' idea is remarkably apt. I'll give you another clue to go on. Imagine Johnny Razorlight (you know that band, right?) on a difficult morning following a rough night. That's me.
Sophia might stop talking to me after this but I have to admit that she strikes me as pretty....um...how shall I put this....sultry? Sleazy? A really cool, unshakeably hip thing.
Nilpaurion Felagund strikes me as dazed and confused, and always smiling. What's more, wherever he walks, the Sun always shines. A handy guy to be friends with. And yea, really thin too. Possibly even rivalling me for thinness.

I feel the same way, Sophia. Hence the long-time shortening of my moniker (<-thank littlemanpoet for my new love of that word) to 'Fea'. I like Fea. I'm not so crazy about my creative writing phase where the only characters I created had zilch for last names, but rather, came from somewhere. So I had a Lady Miriam Anamaeri Serafina of Ayvieron (yes, lame), when I came up with my "of the" username. Haha. However, in keeping with the actual point of this thread:
Sophia the Thunder Mistress has always, in my mind, barked far worse than she bit. Although the name would suggest a boisturous temper, she has rather less then such, and is more prone to munificent compliments than explosions. But, in keeping with her title, Sophia has is an incarnation of Athena, who's been allowed to play with her daddy's lightening bolts. :) This picture includes the strappy sandals and shield.

But let's open this one up a bit further. How do you imagine Biff? I'll give you one clue to go on. He does not wear a kilt!
Manipulates words huh? Hmm...reminds me of either a lawyer, journalist, or politician.
Lawyer: A highly refined twister of words. This version of Biff will never go without wearing slacks and dress shoes, even in 110 degree weather. He has a clean cut hair style that is parted off to one side.
Journalist: Here my image of him is a bit younger, and he's one of those guys holding a microphone and he wears the same expression on his face year-round. (In fact, rumors say it's stuck that way.) Biff always is found wearing a black fleece jacket. And he has blue eyes and blond hair.
Politician: This is the oldest of the Biffs, and perhaps the most cunning. He's capable of making the most vague promises, because the more general and confusing, the more likely that they will seem to be fufilled. This Biff of course, always wears a tuxedo like outfit when on the job.
I'm really not planning on those being accurate, it was just fun writing those. I wonder if anyone would imagine me different from my allias "Forlorn Melody?"

And you can imagine me that way, too. I'd love for everyone to think of me as Captain Picard! :)

Morai: sorry, my hair and face aren't charred *shudders* that would be most unpleasant though.
TPotSS: I hope you don't imagine me as my avatar, Will's cute, but I would prefer staying my current gender. ;)
Encaitare: Well, I don't exactly picture you as Ford, (but that would be cool if he was here!) :p I don't really picture a BDer carrying a towel everywhere on a regular basis.

ElementFire is a feisty little package of teen trends and her own style. She's approx. 5'4" tall brunette and she has long fingers. Her hair reaches down to her shoulder blades. She seldom wears skirts but otherwise she is quite girlish. :)

Lal, I know this was a while ago, but I recently found myself revisiting this thread. I tell you, you were practically dead on until you got to the talismans and the company car, but I guess that was just a way to spice things up... :p Yes, cleanshaven, brown hair (not necessarily messy all the time), and I do have to dress up for work if that's what you refer to as smart things ;) . And oh boy...do I hate ironing  .
P.S. I must say, some strange conversations we'ved had on this thread as well.

I would have sworn you would have had a company car! I suppose that's a misconception from a Brit, that most people in the US get things like nice shiny cars from their company. ;) OK, I bet you drive a station wagon then, what we might call an 'estate car'. And it is messy inside, especially around the passenger foot well. I can 'see' lots of screwed up parking tickets, maybe the odd drinks carton and some company literature left there that you don't feel like moving because you;re in such a rush to get back home again. :)

LOL, if that wasn't the post of the week! :D
I imagine him like a very uptight bureaucrat in a business suit who is very by the book and does not show any emotion. He's got a long face and very elongated fingers and toes. He has elegant glasses of a colour that matches his suit.
*stops when realizing she's getting delirious* :p

Inktomi is a smart and witty young woman, with what some have referred to as a bad sense of humor. She has either remarkably long hair, or a short, face-framing choppy one. She is a well-known member of the forum who has recently decided that there is nothing wrong with a wee bit of well-placed mischief.
Or she is really a he, and is incredibly brilliant, smart-alecky, and charming. He is also a well-known member, and spends much of his time grinning into his computer screen, desiring to let someone in on his secret, but knowing that doing so is probably not the brightest idea.

Inktomi Slurp Spider is of course an eight-legged dashing bloke who is constantly pondering over new patterns for his webs. Ah, we could have woven webs together, he and I. But alas, I haven't seen him for a while. Maybe he's more of an indoor character and has made a lair into his namesake thread.

Inktomi Slurp Spider is a devilishly handsome young man. Tall and thin with mesmerising blue eyes, longish dark hair and inviting smile. He has a vivid imagination and an outlandish conception of life, the universe and everything.
He does get slightly embarrassed when something he posts upsets the mods.
However, he also likes to point out when other people's guesses were way off.
Just a guess...

Here is how I imagine a few of you. Now I didn't pay any attention to any of the guesses other people made, so I am definetly way off. This is what I think you guys look like. (very sorry if I am mistaken about any of your genders)
Nimmy is fairly small, she is a natural blonde and wears glassses with clear frames.
Evisse has blue eyes, blue hair and blue clothes. (hehe)
Eomer has short dark hair, bright green eyes and he is about 6'1.5".
Fea has medium brown hair, brown eyes, green clothes and she is about 5'6.28".
Enca has long dark hair, dark eyes and is probably about 5'8.25".
Boro88 has messy blonde/brown hair, bright blue eyes and is about 5'10".

Well, Wilwa... my hair *would* be medium brown, had I not such a strong liking for vibrantlly colored hair dye. My eyes *would* be brown save the green and honey colored speckles, I look awful in green (although it's my favorite color), and although the height is very precise, it is precisely 2.6 inches too tall. Nice try though.

Sometimes I will get messy hair. I like cutting it short, so I don't got to do anything with it, just wake up, shower, and blam no combing. But, when it gets about time to cut again, it is shaggy/harry potterish definately. :p

Man, I swear that we are either:
~identical twins seperated at birth
~one of us is a clone and doesn't know it
~somehow, one of us (probably me, cause I'm too strange) is actually an identical "self" that came from an alternate dimension
The only differences I've noticed so far is:
~Height, one of us is taller (I won't say who.)
~I think I look "okay" in green, except I look like one of Santa's Elves on vacation from the North Pole because of my hair color.
Hint Hint :D ;)

Haha, mark12_30, actually when I was in Tahoe during the summer I did find a horn very similar to Boromir's. I was at this indian/cowboy western store. It is this white ivory, with a bronze trim, all I could think about was "my horn " and I couldn't pass up the oppurtunity of getting it. ;)

shelob , a bit like the infamous inktomi slurp spider but illuminated by the iridescent green light that emits from your computer. You also enjoy eating odd food combinations, like peanuts and chocolate milkshakes. You're very thin and waif-like. You don't walk so much as scuttle and you have a weird obsession with penguins.
Nilpaurion Felagund , you wear an 18th century noble's garb on a daily basis and have a british accent. (Despite the fact that you're not British.) You like rabbits, especially those from Mirkwood. You will only eat caviar and live in a palace.
wilwarin538 , another Mirkwoodian rabbit lover. You look like a butterfly and spend most of your time in gardens, smelling flowers. You flit around and don't take things too seriously. You love sweets and only drink purified nectar. You spend most of your time in the twilight reading Wuthering Heights and LotR.
I have no idea why...

Short and stout, Mark can often be spotted in Trafalgar Square, at the Colisseum and at Notre Dame with a fanny pack, a ridiculously outdated Agfa Pioneer box camera, and a blob of white sun-screen spread incongruously on her nose. At first glance she may look like your average annoying American tourist, but a closer look reveals details to the contrary: a pair of expensive French glasses rest atop her neat, salon-styled hair, and in her fanny pack, where a normal tourist would carry a cheap traveler's guide, she keeps only a Bible (I couldn't resist) and a few scribbled notes from her last European adventure. She speaks with the slightest southern twang, and she has an infectious, if somewhat cacophonous, laugh.

Here's how I imagine some of my fellow members...
Boromir88- I see a bearded 40-year old drinking beer in an old, worn out tan chair and dividing his attention between his computer and the football game on tv.
Estelyn- Despite the recent avatar switch, I still imagine her as the Shrek princess.
Kuruharan- He's Gimli, smack out of the movie.
Eomer- I picture him as Karl Urban with a kilt.
Mister Underhill- I try to get an image of him, but he's always wearing a trench coat and a hat with the brim pulled down over his eyes.
The Barrow-Wight- I imagine him as a Nazgul with a slight greenish glow. His presense can be terrifying, which makes it all the funnier when he pulls from beneath his cloak, not a Morgul knife, but a humorous comment.
Child of the Seventh Age and Bethberry- For some inexplicable reason, I see them as the same person- this lady that used to work with me at Kohl's department store.
That's all for now.

Umm...well, not quite. No blonde hair nor blue eyes (except very seldom (http://forum.barrowdowns.com/showpost.php?p=378631&postcount=4) ). And as to the height, even though I'm not a giant, I'm a bit taller that 5'2. Nice try, though!
Thinlómien doesn't look like her avatar (hopefully...a raccoon invasion would be a scary thought). She wears boots made of reindeer skin and a skirt (assuming that she's a girl, no offense). Her short hair is dyed dark and she wears eyeliner. She has a few freckles around her nose. She's about 160cm tall.
