R there any Rs?

I'm searching, since the first word is complete , but I don't have a clear idea of the speaker or location yet.

Guinevere
10-29-2008, 12:22 PM
KLORSTH ( no C)

Estelyn Telcontar
10-29-2008, 01:18 PM
Ah! Now I can guess at enough words to know where to look. The quote is: Look at the time he wasted, not even amusing himself! He never got ready for his journey. The speaker is the First Voice, speaking of Niggle in "Leaf".

Guinevere
10-29-2008, 01:49 PM
Exactly! :)

Estelyn Telcontar
10-30-2008, 03:43 AM
According to that quote, time spent on the Downs is not wasted - we amuse ourselves here!! :D

A new one (with an alternate possibility of amusement):
--/ ---/ -/ ----/ ----/, ---/ --/ ---/ -------/ ---/ -------/.

Aganzir

Guinevere
11-04-2008, 12:46 PM
Have you been baking recently, Esty? ;)

"It was a good cake, and it was enjoyed and praised." said Alf to Nokes.

Estelyn Telcontar
11-05-2008, 03:07 AM
Actually, I have! And fortunately, my cakes were enjoyed and praised as well.

You have the right quote and speaker, obviously - go ahead with a new one.

Guinevere
11-12-2008, 01:17 PM
OK, here's a new one, that may be applicable in busy times:

"--/ ----/ ---/ ---/ ---! ----/ ---/ ---------/ --/ ---?"

Estelyn Telcontar
11-13-2008, 06:49 AM

Estelyn Telcontar
11-16-2008, 09:31 AM

Y, please.

Guinevere
11-16-2008, 02:09 PM
ERSUWY

"--/ res-/ --r/ y-u/ ye-! Were/ y-u/ re-------/ --/ -e-?"

Estelyn Telcontar
12-02-2008, 07:52 AM
I have the answer, though not of my own finding; the phantom gave it to me as a present, since he has no time to participate here at the moment. So thank you, phantom; I hope you will show up sometime in the future to join us!

The speaker is Tídwald in The Homecoming of Beorhtnoth: No rest for you yet! Were you reckoning on bed?

Guinevere
12-02-2008, 01:13 PM
Correct, of course! :)
Yes, it would be nice if the phantom would join this game, we could certainly do with more participants!

Estelyn Telcontar
12-04-2008, 04:28 AM

Ah, tricky Polar Bear spelling!:D (I was sure you had forgotten an S in "busy")

"Very sorry. Been bizy. Can't find that alphabet. Will look after Christmas and post it."

Thank you for posting that quote ; I enjoyed browsing through the delightful Father Christmas Letters again!

Estelyn Telcontar
12-08-2008, 01:18 AM
You're absolutely right, Guinevere! I thought that quote sounded so much like P.B. was writing on a forum. :D

Guinevere
12-15-2008, 01:38 PM
Thanks, Esty! Perhaps you're too "bizy" for this game right now, but here is another quote:

"-/ -----/ -------/ ---/. ----/ --/ ---------/ -/ ----/ --/ -----/, ---/ ----/ ---/ -/ ---/."

'I never invited you.
Only on Thursdays I bake my bread
and only for a few'.

I somehow like the Old Troll...

Guinevere
12-20-2008, 10:41 AM
Well done, The Might ! I'm glad you joined us - there are too few Minor Works fans.

The Might
12-21-2008, 11:24 AM
Ah, thank you! I do also enjoy the minor works, they have their own charm in my opinion. And I agree, too many people ignore the fact that Tolkien actually wrote other things than M-e related works.

--/ ----/ ---/ ----/ ---/ ---/ ----/ ----/, ---/ -/ --/ -------/ -------/

Estelyn Telcontar
01-03-2009, 12:58 PM
Sounds like a comment on the current health situation here in Europe! The flu is making the rounds and had me prostrate for several days - I hope I may have a wee bit of time to join actively in the next round...

The Might
01-03-2009, 08:02 PM
Indeed correct! :)

Although I must say I have remained healthy for the past months despite the "interesting" weather conditions here in Germany. Bah, Sauerland! (I think Estelyn will know what I mean) :D
