The parson of Ham to Farmer Giles.

You know the classic answer to that question! Length doesn't matter, of course... :D

You'd forgotten Barrow-wight dwelling in the old mound

Estelyn Telcontar

We may have to change the rules and use normal sentences instead of direct speech quotes; there are works that have no direct speech at all - several of the Tom Bombadil poems, for example.

Aotrou! Lo! thou hast returned—

What hast thou, lord, to give to me
whom thou hast come thus far to see
Corrigan, speaking to Aotrou in "The Lay of Aotrou and Itroun"
(The "thou"s gave it away - this is the only work we've had here that uses that pronoun!)

Ah, John, I thought they would tie in the twelfth round...
Yes Jack, that seemed likely, but left hook of Estelyn's, that's a blow only few can withstand, and uppercuts? Have you noted uppercuts?
Well, John, Guinevere is not a weakling either, her straigt is like a sledgehammer, even if I say so myself, but see, but now I've I had a sparring with her once or twice...
Anyways, Jack, I tell you today Estelyn was the better, so, excuse me for a moment, I have to announce it, l-a-a-y-y-y-d-e-e-e-e-z a-a-a-nd g-e-n-t-l-l-l-m-a-a-a-n, t-h-e w-e-e-e-e-e-i-n-n-e-r e-e-e-e-e-z.... E-S-T-E-L-E-E-E-E-E-N!
