Hookbill the Goomba
11-09-2007, 02:49 AM
Kitanna's face filled with dead. How could such a thing be captured in a picture? Well, we soon found out...
http://i21.tinypic.com/2ntzamq.jpg
Gil-Galad faced terrible odds. And Evens. But soon all numbers were put aside in favour of words...
"Gandalf countered the With-Kings mummy-Gollum summon with creept ghosts, but alas the With-King said a mighty "go away" and beat them back as well encouraging Gandalf to surrender to W-K's mighty boots"
The Elf-warrior's adventure began with a bang! So they say. But it probably actually started with breakfast and a drawing...
http://i21.tinypic.com/14tv3tt.jpg
So we began Part 2. Lommy returned with a hand full of soil and a face full of cake for no real reason...
"Three walking eggs fuss around while a beardless Gandalf is begging for mercy and Egg #1 is crying Gollum's name"
Volo drifted off into the sea. But we put a stop to that nonsense...
http://i22.tinypic.com/2j28e1g.jpg
Firefoot's eyes were given a real hard time on this task... So she learned to read Braille and we were okay...
"Heedless of his companion's advice, Gandalf lost his beard because he refused to hide it under his pillow, thereby turning said companion and Gollum into rather egg-shaped beings with chicken legs."
Hookbill the Goomba
11-09-2007, 02:50 AM
Finduilas was just as confused as the rest of us.
http://i14.tinypic.com/645iet1.jpg
Legate had no choice but to write to his local MP. But we intercepted it...
"During Gandalf's stay at Bree, the squint-eyed companion of Bill Ferny stole the wizard's beard in hope to sell it to the Black Riders for a high price. After Strider started to remind his friend about safe ways to protect one from night raids during an inn stay, the angered old wizard, desperate because of his loss, turned the honorable Ranger Captain into an enormous egg."
Aganzir fired several people into the sun. Then drew this...
http://i20.tinypic.com/2llou82.jpg
Kitanna wrote an epic poem. But we burned it in Mount Zoom... So instead she wrote this...
After a pint at the Prancing Pony, Gandalf explains to Aragorn the dangers of letting Hobbits trim your beard when the Nazgul are abroad
Gil was forced to draw a picture whether he liked it or not...
http://i13.tinypic.com/6psaamw.jpg
The Elf-warrior finished off this dive into what must be the most unusual Paper Telephone yet...
It was a bad idea giving Boromir a spear back then and it was still a bad idea, Gandalf thought as he faced the prospect of death by spear

That was surely one of the funniest this far!
Awesome pics and captions. I laughed so much. And this time the message really changed a lot. Hahaha, I'm still laughing. This really made my day.

Oh dear. It's so nice to burst out laughing in the quiet school library. This is the craziest and the funniest I've ever seen.
The Might

I must admit, the pasrt with the eggs was great. I actually still wonder why Elf Warrior drew an egg-shaped WK. :D
I must say, Legate, you've drawn quite a work of art there. What program(s) did you use?
:D:D:D
Craziest this was, if nothing more!
Very good phrases here too.
EDIT: Oh my, I just noticed Gandalf's double-back :$
Kitanna
11-09-2007, 11:13 AM
Oh my!
I really want to know where those eggs came. Oh such confusion!
But hilarious none the less.

Something I forgot to ask in my previous post: who's going to mod the next round? :)
Whoever it is, you can put my name on the list. Drawing, unless we'll have doubles again.
Nimrodel_9

Wow! That was hilarious! :D
I think it's time I came back and joined in. I would like to write in the next round. :)

Since this one was so great, I just have to sign up once again. If possible, I'd like to draw, though if there's a problem with the roles, I can take writing as well. Of course, if a mod is found.

If someone else could mod I'd be very happy. I'd like to do some writing or drawing. I hope we has doubles again! :D

I'm not a good drawer. I did a second drawing, but I figured it wasn't much better, so I decided I would go with my first draft. In the second drawing, the W-K looks suspiciously like a caterpillar.

If someone else could mod I'd be very happy. I honestly promise to mod the one after this upcoming one, but I really can't fill my promise of modding sometime right now as my ww game is starting soon (and that's modding enough for me). :) Let's hope there's someone who can mod now.
I'd like to sign up, though, and preferably draw, it's so funny. :D

So, for this time, for a novelty, we began with a picture of epic proportions…
http://i7.tinypic.com/7wsu9u0.jpg
Nimrodel was terrified. So full of fear that all we got was this:
Though Phantom and Alien tried to stop him, Gandalf stole a piggy from the orphanage to impress his manager, Sauron, at KFC by making the poor swine the new secret ingredient.
Aganzir’s dreadful prophesies were coming true! Indeed, after a picture drawing session it became all to clear… and horrible…
http://i3.tinypic.com/6okxm9y.jpg
Legate was fed up of the usual things. As we shall see…
“Detective Phantom and his sidekick Alien investigate a new case. Why does Gandalf capture little pigs from local pig orphanage? Does it have anything to do with Sauron's newly opened fast food restaurant?”
Lommy’s days were numbered. Numbered 1 to 10. She later took her calendar back to the shop and then on the back of her receipt, she drew this masterpiece.
http://i19.tinypic.com/7w9og2p.jpg
Volo was confused. So were we all. And this was the result of all that confusion…
Respected Professor G. Mithrandir is peacefully walking from the Pig Orphanage to McSauron's hamburger bar. G. Mithrandir has a sack over his shoulder which goes "oink", but it's purely a coincidence - or so private detectives P. Hantom and A. Lien think
Hookbill the Goomba
01-25-2008, 03:35 AM
The Elf warrior fought long and hard along the long and hard road. We’re not sure why…
http://i11.tinypic.com/6p03src.jpg
No one would have believed that The Might had any sense of direction. But that is unimportant.
Jabba the Hut, a Sarlacc (the worm on Tatooine) and an imperial AT_ST walker (the walkers on Endor) have stolen pigs and are taking them to McSauron's to be transformed into burger meat.
A Little Green did a little picture… Sorry, that was just awful… I’ll think of something better to say next time.
http://i7.tinypic.com/6y4x312.jpg
Oddwen Fell apart. Then got back together. Then fell apart again. Then wrote this. Then got back together again.
Vile creatures from Star Wars descend upon McSauron's domain with stolen pigs and intent to maintain McSauron's reputation for mystery meat
It is very likely that Nogrod will be arrested for this:
http://i11.tinypic.com/7206o00.jpg
Finduilas never imagined such a scene. So it was understandably difficult to describe…
Sauron insists that his Restaurant is cool, as it features entertainment by Jabba the Hut, Darth Vadar, and other Star wars hero's who's morals agree with Saurons, and as it serves wonderful food such as Mystery Pig Macs, for such affordable prices as $3.95
Hookbill the Goomba
01-25-2008, 03:36 AM
Legate was full of beans and soup. We soon had his stomach pumped though…
http://i5.tinypic.com/6p852fb.jpg
Aganzir took the law into his own hands… then dropped it…
Sauron watches the cool Star Wars band play while waiting for his supper in a psychedelic coffeeroom: microwave heated chicken ŕ la Palpatine and stewed Macalaure & pork by Darth Vader. Unfortunately, his dinner companion Saruman is still outside, flirting with an elder gentleman.
Volo some how interpreted that madness as this:
http://i19.tinypic.com/85kcaqd.jpg
What madness had taken over lommy? We’re not sure. We think it was Dragon related.
"Gandalf the Chat-Wizard didn't enjoy Sauron's disco, especially as the band was formed by several Star Wars heroes and the host himself was laying on a bed made of boxing gloves and talking about Macalaure-bread baked by Darth Vader."
The Might was feeling the heat! No one knows why…
http://i15.tinypic.com/6kkalog.jpg
With the pressure building on The Elf Warrior, there was only one thing left to do…
At the Star Lords concert, Rikae was frightened by Darth Vader's magic, Sauron admired Darth Vader's Macalaure bread, while Gandalf was disappointed there were no elf chicks.
Hookbill the Goomba
01-25-2008, 03:36 AM
Oddwen was feeling romantic… But we soon put a stop to that…
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v58/Oddwen/papertelephone1207.jpg
A Little Green finally got the chance for me to think of a better joke! So… A Little Green felt a little better and wrote a little sentence- Oh blast I did it again!
The Witch-King approves Darth Vader's tossing of a fainted German worm whilst a band of four stars called "Star Lords" is playing on a stage. Above them, on balconies, are a frustrated Gandalf thinking about a woman, a woman terrified by Vader and the Witch-King, and two hobbits with lots of buttered popcorns.
The problem for Finduilas was not so much fear, as lack of knowledge about what on earth was supposed to be going on… Seriously…
http://i19.tinypic.com/8eqzq12.jpg
Nogrod was attacked by vicious dogs and apples. Yes.
Murder in a Star Lords gig! Lead singer Darth Vader throws a venomous snake into the audience aiming at lady Arwen who is terrified. Pip and Sam do not notice the obvious as they enjoy The Witch-king's smooth and elastic hip-movement on stage. The irrevocability of Arwen's death throws Gandalf to concentrate on the melancholic idea what kind of Granny Arwen would have been if she would have lived longer.
Nimrodel_9 finished off this fine Telephone call with some confusing artwork…
http://i27.tinypic.com/dr3se0.jpg
If that wasn’t the most ridiculous thing ever, then what is? Probably what will be in the next Paper Telephone. Take it away, Lommy!
Legate of Amon Lanc
01-25-2008, 04:27 AM
Ha! I only think the several redundances were kinda unfortunate. It could have kept less consistent. But anyway, it was fun :D Good move with bringing in the SW element, Miggy...
I especially like LG's picture as whole. Oddwen's Rikae is hilarious and I like the whole episode with the snake. "Fainted German worm!" :D
And Volo's pic is really psychedelic
And look at Nogrod's Vader's expression...
Anyway, you can already sign me up for the next, unless there are other people who haven't played lately and want it badly... are you going to do a single or a double one, Lommy?
A Little Green
01-25-2008, 04:29 AM

One more thing. Could it be possible to have larger version of the Elf Warrior's picture? Or at least know what P.Hantom is saying, for it's impossible to read...
And I just can't stop laughing at seeing Lommy's portrayal of Detective Phantom and Nimmy's Vader (that helmet!).

The picture is a little large, which is why I re-sized it and the Downs won't let me upload it. But P.Hantom is saying "I think the sack is just a coincidence. What about you?" A.Lien is saying "What could possibly be suspicious?" G. Mithrandir is saying, "Mc Sauron's Hamburger bar is dead ahead"
I personally enjoyed Aganzir’s picture (a really good Phantom and Alien there :D ) and Finduilas' witch-King giving Darth Vader a thumbs up.

Hookbill, did you have any certain idea what you were drawing, or was it just intended to be as weird as possible?

I literally laughed so hard at this, it brought tears to my eyes - it was Macalaure's surprise appearance that really did it, from Legate's MAC and pork saying "hilfe!" (nice font there) to the "fainted German worm"... oh, that was priceless! :D
Volo's psychedelic coffeeroom is great, too.
It's also quite flattering to be turned into Arwen... I guess... it beats a venomous snake, anyway!
The Might
01-25-2008, 07:45 AM
Well, when I saw that walker-like Gandalf it was simply obvious that I had to bring up SW.
Plus phantom also has something of Jabba and Alien does resemble a Sarlacc...at least a bit.
Though you really must thank The elf warrior for allowing me to do so. :D
Great job everyone, especially liked Legate's cliché-like font for Mac's "Hilfe!" call. Actually they did use to print newspapers in that font some time ago here.

(nice font there) to the "fainted German worm"... oh, that was priceless!Indeed. I laughed so much at the whole Mac affair, it was probably the funniest detail in this round.
What else? Hookbill's rather psychotic Gandalf creeped me out, Aganzir's phantom who looks like he was dancing amused me, Nogrod's picture was cracked me up, Legate's vision of the food served in Sauron's restaurant proved not only funny but disastrous too and the few last sentences and pictures (starting from Volo) just made me laugh hysterically.
I don't think there was a single non-hilarious picture and all the descrptions were rather funny too.
It's also quite flattering to be turned into Arwen... I guess... it beats a venomous snake, anyway!Remember, it was granny Arwen. :p

Concerning the next round, I say we do doubles: it does take more time but it's far funnier than a single round. If someone objects to this, they may shout out loud now and I can still change it, if you manage to change my opinion. ;)
You can sign up for the next round now, I'll write the list down when there's more than one person on it...

Count me in, Lommy. I'm all for doubles.
And concerning Aganzir's picture, I of course saw it already when I was making the description of it, but it's indeed a masterpiece (as always).
Thankses. You know, I was supposed to be studying Swedish when I got the call - that's why also the colours. ;)
Silly girl, that's an academic debate :p
And with whom is Master Saruman debating then? I had to search some old P&A comics as I wasn't sure whether you had drawn Saruman flirting with Rune-Marx.

Well, it is one thing that I originally wanted to be more important but later I decided to keep it there but just as sideway scene - the man was supposed to be Count Dooku and Saruman has appeared there in the first place only to accompany him. I realised that it is not easy to draw Dooku in the way that it'd be clear that it is him, so I decided to leave him there only in the background.

If that wasn’t the most ridiculous thing ever, then what is?
It was. I was at my friend's when I saw it and started giggling. He was quite confused by it and commanded me to stop having fun if he's not having fun.

We like you too. That's why we gave you this honour. :D
Oh, and btw
Aganzir's phantom who looks like he was dancing
I don't have the impression that he'd be dancing - though yes, I can see it, but on first sight I was rather inclined to believe that he's currently hypnotized and going to murder someone.
Legate's vision of the food served in Sauron's restaurant proved not only funny but disastrous too
What do you mean by "disasterous" here?

But what fun it was!
And I do love the way how differently people make the pictures - both technically and contentwise... and there are some hilarious wordings of the situations as well...
I must say I especially enjoyed Finduilas' stars on the stage. They were just ashtonishingly live! And Hookbill's Gandalf is just one belonging to the mad-house! Legate's "Hilfe" with the Mac & pork has been mentioned here a host of times but that should not prevent one from mentioning it once again...

There's still room for players. We need one more player in order to make it even, but there's no problem with having three, five, seven or nine or eleven - ok, tell me if I'm getting megalomaniac ;) - more players to join. To be realistic, though, I'd prefer to have one or three players added to the current number - with something like 20 players this would never end. Could you shuffle the lists like Hookbill in the preveous game, please?I'm not sure if it's smart, unless it's necessary like in Hookbill's latest. It will make the time between different people's two turns very uneven and thus some pople will be more and some less aware what's happened recently when their next turn comes. Do I make sense?

Well, I think with so many people as we have now, it does not matter whether there are twelve or ten people between your two turns. Depends on whether you think it's better or worse if you are still between the same people.
Nogrod
01-28-2008, 08:02 AM
I don't see it a problem if someone is between the same people on both rounds as there is both the round of writing and the round of drawing so the rounds are reasonably different anyway.
But trying to build up a more "randomised" order which still retained enough people in between one's second turn would mean doing some work...
Legate of Amon Lanc
01-28-2008, 08:14 AM
Ah, indeed, I thought about it only now that in fact if you wanted to change the people, you'd have to also combinate it with who writes/draws, which makes it really hard... well, I think unless Lommy wants to try her logic skills, I'd leave the second round as it is.
Thinlómien

If it took everyone three days to do their job, it would take as much as a month or so. But writers are often far faster than that, drawers are sometimes slower. So my guess would be three weeks, a little less if we're swift. (And more, if we're slow. )
Now, I just got Hookbill's picture and Agan promised to respond before I (and she herself, for that matter) leave today, so I can send her sentence to Beregond today and he will have the remains of this week to draw. This is going quite smoothly now...

I think that, in the future, we should think of the writing more in terms of a caption than a long description. Rather than telling us what the picture looks like, instead let us know what 'should' be going on. ;) Give us a sense of the general concept; lengthy descriptions rarely turn up the weird and wonderful we all love.
If nothing else, we should probably put a two sentence limit on Nogrod. :p

I agree. The sentences tend to get longer and longer, and a short caption giving the writer's take on the picture, rather than a description, gives more of a "twist" anyway.

I actually think it ruins the fun of drawing when you get a very detailed description, the fun lies in getting a sentance which has more than one interpretation.
Personally I love the challenge of finding just the right words for the caption. . . it all adds to the fun.

Considering the current round, I've asked Volo to try to make his illustration today. (He was traveling early this week so he did not understandably have time or chance to do his pic and I doubt he's going to get anything done this weekend as Brinniel is coming to Helsinki...) So I hope he has time and manages to do it now for otherwise this will take ages (again)... But now you know why it might take time.
I'm currently working on it.

I'm going to make the next game slightly different... So, if we're not doing doubles, I want as many players as possible! :smokin:

I might have to reconsider then. . .
I am all for short sentences, but I think a rule like that is way too regid. Could you not just tell people to limit them selves and in case of long sentences, you just tell people to re-do it.
And to be honest the rule about more than two colours is kind of silly. . .what good is that going to do? It would force me to do my drawing (if I was to draw ) on the computer, which in turn would mean a very un original drawing.

04-15-2008, 05:11 PM
I think a "one sentence" rule is not rigid enough, seeing as how, in my extensive experience and professional opinion and so on and so forth, it is entirely possible -- especially among such an intelligent and irrepressible group of virtuosos of verbosity as we have assembled here -- to drag out what is technically a single sentence to the length of a short paragraph, as the present performance is intended to demonstrate in a humorous (or at least mildly amusing) fashion; furthermore, considering the generosity of Mr. Hookbill, who has said, and I quote, "I want as many players as possible", I would like to be added to the list for the next game, so it cannot be said that my opinion on this matter is wholly irrelevant. :p

But what if someone draws with *gasp* a pencil????
Maybe just "use a color", so someone could color any incidental waters with a blue pen, or something?

Okay, maybe the 'two colours' thing was a bad idea. I just like the colourful ones. :D
As for the sentences; I will allow long sentences, but it's usually best when it's less of an accurate description and leaves things open to the 'artist' to draw something crazier.
When you're writing, it's probably best to try and be funny rather than accurate. Try and get a sense of what the people in the picture are thinking... or something like that...

The most recent game began at the end of January (28th to be precise). The thread was started in June of last year.
Surely not last year! The year before. And it was already running when I joined (I believe about two PTs were done that far). So if it was June, then June 2006.

I think Rikae summed it up quite well, even with a good example. If you want to have fun, then you can keep one sentence and be aware of the fact that something like the above quote may appear; or you should, and that I would stand for, make a limit for the number of lines, or letters, or something :) Or both, which would be maybe for the best. However I like to have the possibility of writing creative long sentences, I think when one is forced to stuff all into smaller space, it has funnier results.

Geez. . . You people have no memory at all.
I have always been against the long sentences, I actually think I was the first who brought the problem with too long sentences up. (The BW the seconded ;))
What I ment with "regid" is: What if a person have a perfect text which is short, but technically two sentences?
I would much rather that Mr. Hookbill made "guide lines" and reserved the right to ask you to re-write your text if he think it is too long.
Anyways I can live with the one sentence rule as long as the colour one is abbolished and then i don't care what I do. . .although I am best at writting.

Yes, that may work... I just wanted to add an extra 'challenge' to the proceedings. Perhaps we should have a theme, or something. Yeah, that's a good idea.
I'll add an extra challenge to each task. For example, I might ask a drawer to include, say, mushrooms in their picture some how. Or I may ask a writer to include the word 'hippopotamus'... Sounds like enough scope for amusement to me. :D
How about 150 characters (including spaces) as the maximum? I think it would be good to keep it short and give more freedom to those who draw.
Hookbill, on first sight your idea of giving "challenges" looks good, but on truth to say even I don't agree with it. I think it's more interesting to give more freedom and see what people invent. :) You decide!

I think that sounds fun. But it would make it a little more complicated for you, you know.
If you put a time limit to it, this may be a shorter game, so even if it doesn't work the best it won't be the biggest problem.

Well, nothing against going totally dada... but not sure I'd prefer that over the "classic" PT... it would move the center of the PT somewhere else, and when already you make the sentence limit which should make this PT "fresh", I don't think including any other tasks is necessary and/or particularly enrichening... so I stand with Volo, but like he said, you are the mod.

Personally, I think that would be too much. I'm afraid it would end up with people concentrating rather on the challenges they were given and the original sentence would disappear under them - and I don't think that would actually make the PT funnier.

Sorry, couldn't resist.:p
Even if I hold Dada and its "concept" near and dear, I will have to agree that if we stray too far by adding too many random things (or throwing all traditional standards out the window, literally) we eventually won't be able to match up sentence to picture.
Then we'll have dada poems in the long run. Those are not so fun over time, and people will probably loose the joke and the moment thinking too much about them.
I'm sure if we play our cards right we can still have a fun time with it
I do hope so, but I have a good feeling that our sentences and pictures will make more than a thousand words.

Ladies and gentlemen! I proudly present you the newest masterpiece of 13 great artists of our time...
Here it comes!
It all started when Thinlómien – that's me, obviously – took a piece of paper and wrote:
The wedding crashers, Legolas and Gollum, turned Éowyn and Faramir's Big Day into a disaster.
I sent it to Legate of Amon Lanc, who came up with the following
http://i69.photobucket.com/albums/i55/Thinlomien/paper%20telephone/paper-telephone-double-03.jpg
Hookbill the Goomba's conception of what's happening was
"How unlikely a scenario is this?" wondered Gandalf as Gollum and two of the infamous green Fellowship impersonators appeared. Eomer was not convinved but Arwen's stunned face was enugh to cause Aragorn's nose to grow.
This inspired Aganzir, and she took a couple of nice coloured pens and drew this
http://i69.photobucket.com/albums/i55/Thinlomien/paper%20telephone/pt5.jpg
According to Beregond, the picture could be described as follows
Sitting with a nasally dishonest Elessar, Arwen is surprised by the appearance of an angry Aragorn and Wizard of the East from a green-tinted parallel universe. Gollum has brought them! Gandalf ponders the probability of such an event as Eomer and Firefoot look on.
And behold! Nogrod's mind was filled with the following picture
http://i69.photobucket.com/albums/i55/Thinlomien/paper%20telephone/PT2.jpg
A Little Green's comment was
The court of king Aragorn ”Pinocchio” Elessar and queen Arwen Undómiel includes Eomer of the Rohirrim, a lazy Gandalf doing algebra, a hobbit dancing riverdance with his heel burning, an enraged Aragorn, and a freakish, over-enthusiastic wizard. Gollum lifts the veil of reality to reveal the universe with the ”Lord of Stellar Rings”.
Thinlómien
04-23-2008, 01:04 PM
The Might's picture was crazy, at least if you ask the artist himself
http://i69.photobucket.com/albums/i55/Thinlomien/paper%20telephone/Crazy.jpg
Volo's description of the events was almost as crazy
The Gandalfantastic Five show off with their Powers in front of their headquarters in Minas Tirith. Aragorn's Telescope Nose, Eomer's Three Arms, Gandalf's Super Intelligence and Gollum's Stellar Rings impresses the crowd while Crazy Hobbit practices his Dance of Doom.
But Rikae did not consider her work crazy, she considered it perverted...
http://i69.photobucket.com/albums/i55/Thinlomien/paper%20telephone/Papertelephone_perverted.jpg
Oddwen disagreed
A not-at-all perverted but still disfigured Elessar spies with his little nose a certain three-armed Scotsman wearing a grass kilt; another victim of the nuclear Gollum explosion that he himself was exposed to - Gandalf, though he thought himself very wise didn't see that coming, nor does he see the merry dancing Saucepan Baggins sneaking up on him with nefarious karate skills.
Which led Macalaure to create this mindboggling vision
http://i69.photobucket.com/albums/i55/Thinlomien/paper%20telephone/papertelephone.jpg
Which The Elf-Warrior calmly described as
Eomer of the Rohirrim basked in the nuclear glow of a Gollum bomb while Gandalf admired his handiwork and The Saucepan Man prepared to drench Gandalf in beer and Boromir hallucinated that a bush was a pretty woman.
Thinlómien
04-23-2008, 01:05 PM
Folwren's vision of these interesting happenings was like this
http://i69.photobucket.com/albums/i55/Thinlomien/paper%20telephone/PaperTelephone-1.jpg
And according to Legate, the picture showed that
Eomer of the Rohirrim's birthday party was not much of a show, attended only by Gandalf (who showed just one little firework), the Saucepan Man (who amused himself by setting Gandalf's hat on fire), Faramir (who kept dreaming about Arwen and was not interested in anything else) and the isle of Great Britain dressed in a camouflage suit, which in the middle of celebration became bombarded by German planes.
This led Hookbill to draw this
http://i69.photobucket.com/albums/i55/Thinlomien/paper%20telephone/papertelephone6.jpg
Which led Aganzir to write this
When the decaying Ent is unjustly driven away from Gandalf's firework stand by a German-speaking airplane, his friends want to avenge him: Saucepan Man is so enthusiastic about setting Gandalf on fire that he doesn't even wait for Menel to come. The situation amuses a Rohanian warrior, but Aragorn finds dreaming of Arwen better.
Which, in turn, resulted in Beregond drawing this
http://i69.photobucket.com/albums/i55/Thinlomien/paper%20telephone/bd_mar08_700.jpg
Which of course inspired Nogrod to write these memorable words
While Aragorn daydreams and Menel is late, the defeated eye shows Eomer Sauron's comically desperate vision of how it should have ended: people turning against the ents for burning Gandalf while they were never sold the fireworks in the first place being prevented by a German biplane.
Thinlómien
04-23-2008, 01:07 PM
Greenie then took her coloured crayons and this appeared on the paper
http://i69.photobucket.com/albums/i55/Thinlomien/paper%20telephone/IMG_5782papertelephone.jpg
The Might thought the picture clearly showed that
Menel and others are too late to stop Eomer from having a vision caused by drugs he received from Sauron. Eomer sees Gandalf burned by Ents, Rohirrim trying to buy fireworks from a pizza delivering Red Baron and Aragorn having a dream about Arwen.
Volo depicted it as follows
http://i69.photobucket.com/albums/i55/Thinlomien/paper%20telephone/PT.jpg
And Rikae was convinced that it was
Hippie-Boromir's plot: crash a fighter plane into Sam, and therefore be worshipped by aquatic Meneltarmacils.
Thinlómien
04-23-2008, 01:08 PM
This led Oddwen to have nightmares and draw the following insanity
http://i69.photobucket.com/albums/i55/Thinlomien/paper%20telephone/papertelephone04.jpg
Mac could only say that it was something like
In his dreams, Hippie-Boromir gleefully equates killing hobbits with a kamikaze plane to raising baby Sea-Menels.
The Elf-Warrior then decided it was time for something like this
http://i69.photobucket.com/albums/i55/Thinlomien/paper%20telephone/Paper-Telephone.jpg
And finally, Folwren finished the poor paper telephone round off by noting that
Upon a purple bed of stone, Boromir dreams of Gondorian Kamikazes targeting hobbit holes and feeding the remains of the inhabitants to sea serpents.
And that, ladies and gentlemen, was the end of the story.

This was definitely worth it. I love Oddwen's pic especially, but also Greenie's pic (that Menel, and then the plane, and their quotes :D ) and Beregond's pic - the whole composition of it is just amazing! And interpretations, like the one Rikae did for Volo's pic... craziness...

Am I the only one who thinks Rikae's Aragorn looks suspiciously much like Mac?When you wrote that, Greenie and I had to go back to check the pic and we both cracked up when we saw it. :D So true.
This is so amazing, every single picture is hilarious (I've been giggling at them when they've come to me one by one) and the sentences are very funny too.
And one good thing was that nothing remained of the original sentence. If you set the first and the last sentences after each other, it makes hardly any sense. I mean, how on earth can you get from
"The wedding crashers, Legolas and Gollum, turned Éowyn and Faramir's Big Day into a disaster."
to
"Upon a purple bed of stone, Boromir dreams of Gondorian Kamikazes targeting hobbit holes and feeding the remains of the inhabitants to sea serpents."

It's funny how Faramir became Aragorn, then became Boromir, then became Faramir again, then became Aragorn again, and finally ended up as Boromir again. :D
Hookbill's camouflage Britain and Beregond's unfairly treated Ent are especially hilarious!
And Lily's airplane should watch its language a little more. ;)

I was thinking the same thing, Mac.

And Lily's airplane should watch its language a little more. Well, unfortunately that is pretty much all the German I know (except from schumacher, but I thought it might have been a bit misleading... :p). Of course it could have said "sauerkraut" but it was a little too long..

Ah, Volo, but now looking at it closely, why does that hippie dream about Gandalf being burned by Moomintroll-creatures-like (i.e. not creatures like Moomintroll, but like the creatures other than Moomintroll who often appear in the background in the Moomintroll pictures) who also partially resemble the Gungans? :D
Umm... What is he talking about?

Umm... What is he talking about? :rolleyes:I guess it could be the character called "Vilijonkka" in Finnish (I have no idea what it might be in any other language)... and I think there are a few of them... Or then not... Maybe they are those odd creatures you can see having party - like dancing by the fire - in the background in "Who would comfort Nyyti?" or on some other works as well... There is a similarity if you look at them!

Ah, these are all so good!
hee hee, Rikae's makes me snort every time I see it. :p
"I am smart". - Probably should be the only statement on Gandalf's business card.
I can't wait to see what this telephone turns out to be, hrmmm.

Fififjonka? (If that's it. Like the one who was afraid of catastrophes.) Definitely. Or these strange things who appear when the great fire is made in the winter (when that creature - Morana - sits on it) - some of them look like that.

Actually, she's called the Groke in English. :p
But those creatures look like some drawn by Tove Jansson. As a matter of fact, when I opened the pic and just glanced at it quickly (before reading Legate's comments), I first thought that the firework guy looked a bit like the Muskrat. :D
And for this post not being completely off-topic, I have sent my picture now.

Okay, that's the last off-topic comment for me, but to make it clear: I was saying how it is in Czech, for that's the only version in which I know it. :p :p

Well yes, I thought so, but I felt it my duty to educate you. :p

Oh dear, the Groke sounds terrible. :/ Blah.
Now that I look at the picture myself, yes, maybe it does have a Janssonisque feel to it, most of all with the Aragorn though. :D

As usually I seem to be a bit late to congratulate all on the last round, however, I do indeed find it was one of the best so far.
I especially liked the whole Menels worshipping part as well as the German airplane. Great job, everyone!
Now I am really looking forward to this next one.

Sorry guys. It seems I have been dragging this down once again but I've had a real tight weekend and to top that I fell ill and have just slept and hanged around in the bathroom for the last two days... :(
I'll try to make my pic today so we can get this going again.

No worries Nogrod.
People are different. . . some people would ignore fire, sickness and war to keep this thread going and then there is you. :p

Oh I know, seriously, as if there is any other thing to life... :p;)
I'm just hoping that my turn doesn't come around at the wrong time and it takes me five days or something to reach a scanner.
Besides that I'm quite interested in how this is going to turn out...

I've sent the picture to The Elf-Warrior. Hopefully, I'll get a sentence before I go away for a few days so that Volo can do some weird stuff... Yeah.
