Said by a hobbit?
Yep.
Is it what Aragorn says at the corronation ("Et earello Endorenna utulien...")?
Nope.
Btw, since three questions above were essentially
repeats, I figure the actual number of
questions asked (it's only of academic interest)
is 10.

01-09-2006, 03:21 PM
Said by a Ringbearer (Frodo or Sam)?
Hmm. A tricksy question. Rather like
demanding three guesses as to what The Baggins
has in its pocketses. However, the
answer is: Yes. #11.
Lindolirian
01-09-2006, 03:43 PM
Well that's the point isn't it? To get as much information out of the least number of questions? It was still "yes or no". But I was rather hoping you would have said "No" so that I didn't have to ask which one. But perhaps we'll wait on that.

Agh! I think the answer is
non (that's for you francophiles)
but I'm not positive.
If necessary I'll check tonight and have
a definitive answer tomorrow.
Hint: it has not yet been
established whether the pertinent word or words
are said by Frodo or Sam, and whether it/they
are spoken, a poem, or a song.

Sam's song in the Tower of Cirith Ungol?
Tuor in Gondolin
01-10-2006, 04:06 PM
Sam's song in the Tower of Cirith Ungol? #16
That's it!
In western lands beneath the Sun
the flowers may rise in Spring,
the trees may bud, the waters run,
the merry finches sing.
Or there maybe 'tis cludless night
and swaying beeches bear
the Elven-stars as jewels white
amid their branching hair.
Though here at journey's end I lie
in darkness buried deep,
beyond all towers strong and high,
beyond all mountains steep,
above all shadows rides the Sun
and Stars for ever dwell:
I will not say the Day is done,
nor bid the Stars farewell.
Perhaps just the sort of song one would
expect from a great elf warrior.

Finrod's singing against Sauron, then?
Tuor of Gondolin
03-01-2006, 09:03 AM
Finrod's singing against Sauron, then?
Yes! Your turn.
I decided on that after listening to some old
audio tapes I have, most of JRRT reciting
bits of his works, but also of CT doing excerpts
of Beren and Luthien, which is more extensive
concerning the Sauron/Finrod singing duel
then in The Silmarillion, since it gives more
of Finrod Felagund's bit. Btw, I think JRRT
is a better speaker then CT. It's curious
JRRT was rather defensive about his speaking.
It seems quite clear.
