Is it above Rauros - yesno.
Is it situated on the course of the River Anduin? - yesno...
is it "visited" by (a) member(s) of the fellowship during the Ring quest
Another difficult question... If I stick to the word "visited", then no... But If you say "Was a member of the fellowship in it during the War", then yes. All of them were.
Mithalwen

That is what I meant by visited - that someone was there rather than the place referred to... or somewhere that they probably been sometime but not that we know about.

Yes and it is the ALL that is puzzling me!!!! Very tricksy.
It's the plainest thing ever, and that's what is puzzling you.
I suggest looking at how Emyn Muil, in relation to Anduin, fits more than the others.
Also, pay attention to this:
Labeled on a map - definitely!
Every proper map of ME has it labeled. If not, then it's just against the "grammar rules" of map-making. ;)

I wouldn't knowI was useless at Geography (admittedly we only did Glaciated highlands and the Borneo Sumba) and have had the Journeys of Frodo at hand for a couple of days now....so I resort to UT...expand it further and try Rhovanion.
Galadriel55
06-04-2011, 02:59 PM
You're overcomplicating it, Mith. You don't need any of these, including good geography knowledge (I'm not that good at it either). The answer was mentioned in passing, though you probably didn't realize it.
This is the biggest clue I can give.

Edit: The name is clearly printed on this map, and that's saying something, considering the quality of the image...

Mithalwen
06-07-2011, 04:30 PM
don't take it personally - I have notoriously poor sense of direction. My father threatened to have a tracking device fitted to my car when I passed the driving test. I struggle with left and right and well I won't humiliate myself by telling you of some of my misadventures - some of those who wander ARE lost....
